Women don’t come to After Sundown for the beer – they come to get laid. When wealthy Cole Taylor walks into the bar that night, it’s for a drink. He gave up one-night stands in his wild youth, but that changes when he sees her. She is too tempting to pass up, and by the looks from the other men at the bar, he needs to move quick to claim the prize.
Kit Landon - a struggling young widow, raising her daughter alone - has her own reasons for being at After Sundown. And it has nothing to do with illicit sex. But things can escalate a little too fast after nervously downing several beers on an empty stomach.
The conservative young widow finds herself in an extremely compromising situation and barely manages to escape, leaving behind a furious Cole Taylor.
Kit never wants to see the man again, but she is in for a big surprise.
Approximately 38,500 words. Includes 10,000+ word excerpt from Anna J. McIntyre’s WHILE SNOWBOUND
After Sundown, a good story, is all about relationships. Relationships between the lead couple of course but also mother/daughter, father/daughter, brother/sister and two BFF's. I found it to be interesting and entertaining until the very end (the reason for the star deduction).
In the last two chapters it appeared as though the author had set asside the story, lost interest or contact with the characters and needed or just wanted it to end. The ending happened literally in less than 2 pages.
If the author really needed to keep the story to a certain length, she should have considered going back over the whole story and trim itdown more. There were places to do that without sacraficing a solid ending. As it was it just left a yucky feeling of being cheated which over whelmed the over all good feelings from the rest of the book. For me, it was too much.
While I would normally recommend this story, I just can't wish this feeling anyone.
first of all Cole is an ass. Second of all there was so much sexual tension I knew it was a matter of time before Kit would give in. Third the ending was a surprise to me I never seen that one coming. Overall a good read!
I enjoyed this book, it was sweet and clean it wasn't smutty. Cole was a womanizer and when he finally got Kit to give them a try he messes up royally. It's very interesting how they find there way back to each other.
A very good contemporary romance. I enjoyed the main characters, Kit and Cole. There is a lot of attraction and energy between them although they are in a constant battle to fight it. I recommend it.
