Runaway Omega #1

Believe It or Knot: Part One

Rate this book
Believe it or Knot, ‘happily ever after’ doesn’t exist. Not for me, anyway.

Bleeding and broken, I’m on the run from Alphas who want to use me as a punching bag and a breeding machine. An Omega on her own? It’s unheard of. But I’d rather die than let them catch me.

Taking a bus to the end of the line, I plan to become invisible in a small town in Vermont. But what’s that saying about ‘the best-laid plans’? They all turn to ash as an unplanned heat hits me like a raging wildfire.

I don’t need a pack… except my body is screaming for an Alpha, and I know I’ll never survive my heat without one. Or maybe six.

I run into Salvation on the sidewalk—literally. All six-foot-five dark, imposing inches of him.

His scent makes me forget all the reasons I’ve sworn off Alphas, and the rest of his pack smell just as sinful. They want to help me. Save me. Make me theirs.

Fate may have brought us together, but the past has taught me that dreams are just illusions. My old pack will never let me go, and they’re dangerous. So dangerous I should keep on running to keep these new, tempting men safe.

Except they want me to stay, and they’re very, very convincing.

Believe It or Knot is the first book in a reverse harem (MFMMMMM) Omegaverse duet with no choosing, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA at the end of the duology! Please read the content warning at the start of the book for possible triggers.

This was too insta love and mushy for me. The characters had no dimension to them beside them being obsessed with her, and her them. Typical awkward dialog with some unrealistic moments and I should have known this book wasn’t for me. I got bored about 20% in but had to see if it got better. It was all more of the same. I also think there were some more serious issues that should have been talked about but were brushed off instead. I’m sad this one wasn’t for me but perfect for anyone wanting a super sweet, instalove, cozy time.

Too damsel in distress-y for my taste normally and definitely too much for the mood I’m in today. I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters and the cliffhanger was soooo expected I honestly don’t even care to read the second book to find out what happens.

Also I’m not sure which book was written first but I have read another omegaverse novel where the omega breaks into a gym and I don’t think it was this one because one of the alphas was not happy harboring an on the run omega.

This just fell flat to me. Shallow is another good word to describe it. Had a hard time remembering the male characters names because they are essentially only distinguishable by their jobs and their nicknames for the FMC (an RH trend that I hate ESPECIALLY when they have no true meaning to their relationship, so they didn’t even help me remember who was who). I also really didn’t like Demi, everything she said and did annoyed me and seemed fake. I absolutely could not picture her as a real person. This story would have read almost exactly the same if she had never been abused and was just introduced to the pack normally, even the villains actions could have been replaced with any other jealous character in any other omegaverse. Enough spelling errors to be memorable.

It’s not harmful though, if you’re looking for a very simple and shallow omegaverse you might enjoy it for a quick read.

DNF at 80% What's bad?:

One dimensional characters. I have no idea what the FMCs likes or dislikes are. She is an omega, sold to a pack, and escaped to another. That's it. Don't get me started on the 6 men. All we know by the time she goes into heat is their occupations and vague descriptions of some of them.

Flashbacks of some of her rape that happened during her 11 months by the pack she had been sold to. On top of which her bonding with a new pack quickly ignores her months of trauma as if she will magically be fixed by physical intimacy with new men. New men she hardly knows.

There is a lot of precious princess in her tower to be saved moments. This could be any saving an omega pack story. In fact, I'm pretty sure this trauma storyline has been done better before.

I loved this story

Omegaverse can be a hit or miss for me a this was definitely a hit! I found this book in one of my FB groups and and I'm definitely in my vulnerable or abused fmc era and this was perfect. It starts out with Demi (love the name) escaping her abusive pack after the alpha forces her heat. And she ends up in this small town and comes across these amazing men who treat her how she deserves to be treated. Yes the spice was definitely spicy but the relationship building was there too. I will be impatiently waiting for book 2! But definitely checking out more from this author while I wait!

sweet, spicy, Omegaverse

4.5 / 5.0 this is one of the better stories. Right up there with Kathryn Moon, Harper Wylde writes an excellent story. The FMC is sufficiently damaged, her mates are completely complimentary, and the story ends on a fantastic cliff-hanger. This is a good one but has significant Content Warnings, so know your limits.

Oof.
That ending was stressful. I mean I saw it coming a mile away, but still. Damn.
This next book is gonna be rough. I can just tell.

DNF. Sadly I did not enjoy this one enough to finish it. I really liked the part when the h met all the H’s. But then the characters fell flat to me and their actions, thoughts and words annoyed me quite a lot. But if you like omegaverse stories and the plot seems interesting then you can still give it a try. Hopefully you’ll like it more than I do. I read some very positive reviews, and we all have different tastes.

One of my fav omega verse’s I’ve read so far. Love the heroine in danger, vulnerable but also a survivor, and I also loved how respectful each of her scent match pack was with her first heat - esp given her past trauma. I don’t usually like larger harems (this one has six guys) but I did feel like each guy had a moment and role and feel discernible (though still wish we had a few less, just to allow more deep bonds or develop).

Most of all I appreciated a healthy balance of plot and spice- we don’t spend the entire book in heat phase (and I liked how the heat portrayal isn’t quite so feral LOL). Protective and hugely doting pack is also delicious.

I was especially impressed with the audio- Christian Leatherman voiced all 6 guys (with different tones and voices, one is British) with ease and clarity- they do feel distinct. And Isabelle Turner brings great emotional range to our damaged, running omega. Glad I sprang for the audio.

What to expect
-heroine in danger/on the run
-scent match /omega verse
-RH- five alpha heroes and one beta hero
-past trauma (some on page flashbacks, brief but described)
-cinnamon roll heroes
-omega auction/kidnapping/forced heat
-spice balanced with plot
-heats, knotting, toys, group scenes (no MM in pack)
-one pierced alpha

What a cliffhanger! One of the things that I like about this book is that the trauma the FMC went through isn't just easily dismissed. So many times SA or abuse is used as a plot device, and once the MMC is met there may be a reference or two, but the person who survived the abuse is magically healed with the Insta true love. Demi has flashbacks and still remembers those defensive reactions instinctively like any normal person would. It makes it so much more worth it to see her heal because the reader can see it's a process.

★2.5/5! Loved about 30% of this, the other 70% was just so repetitive I can’t. I wanted to know more about the characters and less about her thoughts on whether the pack wanted to keep her or not. Hopefully the second book has more character development

Rating- 4
Entire duet rating- 3.5
Heat- 4
Tropes- omegaverse, MFMMMMM, scent match, PTSD, insta love

This was a sweet omegaverse where all of the drama came from exterior forces, and even that didn’t really come until the end. Demi and her guys were all in with each other from the second they met. My only complaint is that this duet should have been 1 book. It reads as if the author desperately wanted to end book 1 on a cliffhanger but then struggled to have enough story for a second book. We ended up with a second book that was mostly filler. I started skimming the parts that weren’t advancing the plot.

This was just poorly written. Used cheap, bad writing to make you buy the next book (I won’t). Literally nothing happened for 80% of the book. There was the beginning where she escaped the evil clutches of her previous alphas (we only meet 1). Then the middle that covers a few days of her meeting the guys and falling for them in a very unconvincing manner. The guys were very poorly developed. I couldn’t tell you a singly personality trait of one other than “the giant teddy bear”. Then in the last like 5 pgs there was suddenly a cliff hanger. Zero rising tension, just bam out of nowhere. The omega was boring with essentially zero personality. I’ve read (and enjoyed!) several other books by this author, but this one felt rushed like they were quickly hopping on the omegaverse bandwagon. I won’t be reading the next book.

Parts of this feel like I wrote the skeleton of this book in 3rd grade, when I wrote a story about a bunch of brothers and a runaway being adopted.

I'm shocked this has 4 stars.
There are ideas repeated in the same way throughout the whole book. And perspectives and thoughts are so same-same, why did there even need to be another character?

If I were to edit this book, my main suggestion would be that while the professions of these mmcs set them apart from one another, their interior worlds and feelings are too similar.
A) is it necessary for multiple characters to come from broken homes?
B) do they each need to own a business? Eli and cop-what's-his-face are 2 out of 6 characters who don't 'work for themselves'.
C) do their thoughts need to repeat each other? Do their thoughts need to repeat the mfcs thoughts word for word? (maybe once or twice is fine... But many times is too many times)

My second suggestion would be to cut out repeats of the same sentiment in a different way the next sentence.
"she was scared..." "she couldn't help but be scared..." "... Because she was scared."
A) show us instead of tell us
B) be concise and thoughtful about how scared she is - is there a reason we need to be told 3 times? Is this a conscious choice to remind us on the same page? What work is that doing for your novel?

My third suggestion:
You probably don't need to read this book.

It's getting 2 stars (closer to a 1 than a 3) because despite all the above, I did feel compelled to finish the novel.

EDIT : the mfc repeats many times that it's not the mmcs responsibility to 'fix' her. And she's 💯 on it not being their responsibility. Take accountability then, fmc. Run if you're going to run, take care of your mental health, or the author needs to write this part differently - because the repetition is tedious and the lack of momentum is also tedious.

EDITx2: unlike many other ⭐⭐, I won't be reading the second one.

Needs a solid edit.

Two major issues that let this down.

The first is way too much internal monologue.
I love knowing the characters inner thoughts.
But this used it to ‘tell’ the whole story, rather than ‘showing’ us. There were very few natural conversations, only those explaining something.

We barely got to read the story, rather, we were ‘told’ about 90% of it.

Second issue: the author would add in bits, without going back to correct the story so it fit…

One conversation referred to rescuing pets and used it as an analogue for rescuing the FMC.
The flaws in this analogy were pointed out and corrected.

Then a few chapters later we are introduced to a rescued animal belonging to the MMC’s, proving they did in fact know all the correct circumstances. Fully contradicting their previous conversation.

The FMC has triggers for violence, but mentions nothing else, has no other visible, or vocal in her internal monologue.
Then a few chapters later we are recounted episodes of sexual assault and rape….
Undermining her previous actions and thoughts.

These were the most glaring examples, but there were others.

Clearly a full edit would be beneficial.
Suspect regardless, this author is not for me.

For those who enjoy a simple story with heavy emotional monologues, that often repeat and remind, give this a go.

This is a part one, big cliffy, part two available.

i ate this uppp!!!!!
i love a good fashioned why choose, omegaverse storyline!
and even though there’s SIX, YES ! , SIX male main characters they were different enough to where you got “who’s who” down quickly.
i normally have a favorite but i honestly liked them all so much?
also demiiiii baby 🫶🏽 i normally don’t like “meek, quiet” fmc but she went through a lot of trauma and we actually saw a PEEK of it in the beginning so i just feel for her.
people who felt like it was too insta-lovey must’ve not read omegaverse before because i thought this was perfect 😭
i can’t wait to finish the second half of the duet and see how it ties up.

Good Omegaverse, Need More Story

This book is fantastic if you want a spicy omegaverse with only the trappings of a plot. Technically, there is one but it’s not very deep (heehee) or satisfying. Demi has trauma from her old pack, but it’s only explored in the most superficial way. While her new pack says all the right things, we get almost no insight into how anyone is feeling except horny.

The spice was spicing though, and cannot complain about how good that part was. If you want a short, spicy omegaverse then this will absolutely be perfect for you. For me, I need more depth.

One of the better omegaverse novels I’ve read in a while! I’m a huge fan of Lila and the millionaires and this gave me a similar type of feel. I got annoyed by the Fmc at points but I’m very hopeful to see how she grows in the second book, and her insecurities made a lot of sense given her backstory. The smut was pretty decent, even if the vacuum description did throw me off a bit lol. I’m 100% a Hades fan, but I enjoyed all of the different alphas and found they didn’t blend together. Leo is also a darling! Can’t wait to see what happens next

It took me a month and a half to finish this book and I’m surprised I didn’t dnf it. It’s not a bad book, per se. I sympathized with Demi and what she went through. The guys were really sweet and caring to her, which I loved, but nothing happened.

I get that this was a healing journey for Demi, but aside from the beginning and the end, it was getting repetitive and boring. I also skimmed over quite a few pages because of the amount of spicy scenes.

I don’t get the hate anyone is spouting for this book lol. If you liked Lola and the Millionaires, you’ll like this! I loved it. Sorry but I’m a sucker for heroines who have been through a lot finding their men and the men spoiling them rotten with love and affection and gifts 🫶🏽🫶🏽.

If you don’t like that, then don’t read this book. But I personally devoured it!!

Can’t wait to start part II right now!

Devoured this book in less than 24 hours! I wanted to stab her old pack & dad they are awful! Her new pack/mates are beyond sweet/attentive to her. Especially her giant cinnamon roll Hades! I enjoyed their courtship blooming. This has great tropes here are a few I enjoyed: 🍆piercings, touch her/die, dominant/possessive (good ways), golden retriever/cinnamon roll BF vibes, princess treatment.

Never would have expected such a good story from the cover and title. Almost didn’t read it due to that tackiness. But this story has a great plot and is really well written with tons of spice. Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read part 2.

I'm in a slump. Nothing sounds good right now so another omegaverse to keep me going and this one hits the spot. Good characters good plot. Moves at a decent pace. Cliffhanger so on to book 2. FMC trauma on the run and found by cinnamon roll MMCs. Perfect scent match.
