I loved this book and i wish it was a little longer. At first i had a hard time connecting with the two characters mainly Angela b/cuz the reader is thrust into her world. The book opens mid scene, i was given no background info on her, Sean or Nick until later as i read on. But i fell in love with Nick he is an awesome book boyfriend!!!
My Ratings Characters- Likable Writing Style- Good and Enjoyable Plot/Storyline- Good and Witty Overall- I Loved It!!!
WARNING: This YA contains teens having sexual intercourse and using foul language.
Feels like this is an adult book disguised as a YA and I am not comfortable with this. Will post my full thoughts after I finished. Will post my full review soon: But this def confirms my original feelings and I am not liking there wasn't a true warning that is for older readers. I definitely do not consider this YA, the sex was explicit and it made me uncomfortable that a younger reader would pick this up. I had to rant about the lack of warnings and the ones posted on the site wasn't enough because they didn't convey how explicit the sex was. I have posted this here at The Book Pushers. http://thebookpushers.com/2011/06/16/...
Even if the characters were at legal age. My issue is with the fact that this is YA and that feels really really uncomfortable. When a sweet romance has less details in a sex scene and that is aimed at adults, I really think the publishers need to look at their editorial and marketing strategy about this.
I loved it! But then...I wrote it. And I love all my books. What a fun book to write. I got to know Nick and Angel very well over the course of the writing.
Nick hit a rough patch as a young teen, but he's a decent, smart guy. Unfortunately, most people only want to focus on the problems he had. As a result, he's learned to keep himself apart from society or risk getting hurt...or causing more trouble for himself. All Nick wants to do is graduate high school, get away from all the game-playing, go to college, and get a good job that will allow him to take care of himself, his mom, and his little brother. But then he meets Angela and finds an Angel he can't help but love.
Angela is surrounded by wealth, priviledge, opulence and what she's coming to identify as fakery...even in herself. Nick isn't suppose to be the guy she falls in love with -- in fact, he's the wrong kind of guy. But after one night with him, she realizes how right he is for her. He's the only person she can be her real self with. He's real. He's the good guy. If only she had the courage to defy her snobby parents and friends and be with him openly. But she can't. She makes the choice to leave Nick. After he's gone, she realizes what a mistake she made in not grabbing every moment she had with him. But it's too late.
At a 'welcome to college' dorm dance, she runs into Nick. The sparks are still alive and well between them. Angela is thrilled at having a second chance with Nick and can't wait to pick up where they left off. But Nick hasn't forgiven her for breaking his heart. He's willing to be friends, but he's not interested in anything more. He's not interested in doing anything that will derail his goal of graduating and finding a good job.
They have a lot of talking to do to determine whether they're really meant for each other, or whether their time in high school was just a fling. They both do a lot of growing up together, and, at the end, are better people for it.
I said goodbye to Nick and Angela with tears in my eyes! I hope you'll enjoy reading In The Bad Boy's Bed as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life. Sophia Ryan
This book was a little different from all high school stories. I thought it might be cliché like Perfect Chemistry but it wasn’t. I appreciate a book for being different and its ability to grasp attention. I liked that this book went straight to the story from the very first page-makes a good change.
Angela is the rich girl that everyone expects classy standards from. Her parents are controlling, they set her up with Sean (the family friend’s son). Sean is a typical rich asshole, he drinks every night. So the book starts off with her and Sean, who is drunk in the car demanding Angela to have sex with him, then he hits her and she runs off towards the river. Nick is the ‘so-called’ bad boy in the school. The rich people think he’s up to no good all the time. So when Angela and Nick meet at the river, they start talking. They have ‘a night of passion’. Angela doesn’t want to tell anyone about Nick. Her mother thinks she’s ruining her life. Nick and Angela skip classes to meet and do ‘other’ things every day. Angela is afraid what people would say about her Nick, whilst Nick thinks his Angel is embarrassed of him. Nick says he won’t be there forever but Angela tells him that she needs him and he mustn’t leave. Nick falls in love with Angela and Angela still in her daze finds out why everyone thinks Nicks bad. She wants he old life back so she leaves Nick. Both heartbroken, Nick t loved him. So at college Angela is surprised to see Nick, he got out an early start on graduating (turned out he was exceptionally smart). Nick tells Angela about his father. Angela wants Nick back but he is scared that she’ll leave him again and he’ll be miserable. They sort things out like they always do – hot and cold. Nick and Angela spend the rest of college together in an apartment with both parents disapproving.
This book was a heart full read. I liked that Angela was at fault here and that Nick wasn’t a bad boy after all (I’m mean not one of those who does drugs and shit because they have a hard life but are truly good people inside crap). The author could have elaborated on some parts, like the time spent between them and the college part but overall this book was good.
Worry more about what you think of you and less about what others think of you.
^ That's something that Angela needed to put into practice.
I don't know what to say about this book. I dont hate it but I don't really like it either. Sigh.
Ok, it's like... I can handle a guy being a jerk, a heartless bastard right? I mean, men are programmed to be assholes... most times :D Don't get me wrong - if a girl is like that... with a good, tolerating attitude, then I don't mind either.
What pissed me off in this book was how Angela was like that... wanting, needing Nick but hiding him from everybody, because she was a people pleaser (and I get that, giving her parent's status.) I just hated how she constantly threw it in Nick's face with Nick taking it and still showing her love and attention without any sign of contempt after a while.
That kind of clashed w/ his 'bad boy' image but getting to know him... he is so sweet and I love him :)
I especially love how after she broke up with him, hurt him and made my heart break - he didn't jump back in a relationship with her just because she was horny xD Way to go Nick!!
Also, what Angel constantly do that I hated, was throw blame all over the place and never really accepting that her actions can be a sole cause in a particular outcome.
I hated her parents... They were just @$@%%$$#$#$ *fumes*
It was a nice read. I'm really glad I got to finish it xD
I really liked this book. It wasn't just one of my '5 star rated books', because it also teaches you a lesson or two about friendship and trusting people who don't seem that 'innocent'. Honestly, I hated the way Angie was acting about 'Hiding thier relationship' What girl wants to act like she isn't seeing someone 'behind close doors'? She just ignores him at school! But even so, I loved the ending:) It was really sweet, if not a little sad... I'm not saying the guys name, well.... because I honestly can't remember it:/ I know, I know... I just read it a couple of hours ago and I can't even remember some character's name... I was reading another book afterwards so you would understand:) Okayz... Thats all:) Ta
In the Bad Boys Bed is a sweet, simple and short New Adult romance. Girl dates boy, boy is a drunk jerk, girl is attracted to bad boy (he's a high school bad boy, and not really all that bad), and on from there. I've seen some reviews refer to this as erotica or erotic romance, which this is NOT. It might be more racy than your typical young adult high school stories, but it is in no way nearly as racy as many of the new adult books I've read lately. There is romance with some steam and there is sex, but the sex is fade to black.
All in all, this was a sweet and romantic quick read that was well written with just a few errors (which is a nice change from many of the other new adult books I've read lately), and I would be happy to read more by this author.
I loved the concept and idea of this book but I didn’t like the way it was carried out. I thought the character of Nick was brilliant I mean I always love the bad boy come on. But I felt the book wasn’t deep enough and overruled by sex.
This was kind of spur of the moment read for me because I found it while going through my ebook library trying to make some sense of it and after reading the synopsis again it caught me for some reason.
I'll be honest though, I was morbidly curious about this being labeled as both Young Adult and Erotica. What-the-what? Is that even possible?
Well...I will say that this does have sex in it but it's not so detailed that I would label it as erotica. I also think it reads more like a New Adult book rather than a Young Adult book even though they are in their senior year of high school (both 18 years old) when the book starts, and then by the end of the book they're in their first year of college.
So it's kind of a genre-bending book I suppose and hard to label. There's probably about as much sex in it as an adult contemporary (non-erotica) romance, but it's mostly stuff leading up to the actual act rather than details about the act itself. Just to clear that up a bit -- I wouldn't personally label this as erotica, but I've read some pretty...juicy stuff and so I might be a little jaded when it comes to sex in books. lol
Anyways...moving on from my initial interest I have to say I was surprisingly impressed with this. It kind of made me think of the Perfect Chemistry series by Simone Elkeles because Angela (aka Angel) is a rich girl while Nick is a poor guy. Very Grease-esk. I know, it's a theme that has been done many times before, but that's because it's a good theme if done right.
I liked the relationship between Nick and Angela because their feelings for each other did feel pretty genuine to me. Even though their relationship starts out as just sex I could see them forming a bond for each other and honestly it's kind of impressive how well their relationship and characters were built up because it's a shorter book (the PDF is only about 180 pages).
Angela could be superficial and bitchy at times, but then you kind of get glimpses at the kind of shit she has to deal with. Her parents are pretty selfish and horrible to her -- at one point her mom even tells her that she doesn't care what Angela wants.
Nick's story was a little more tragic though and I really felt bad for the things he had to go through -- even though it's kind of sketchy whether or not he is or at least was a bad guy. I don't know, I have mixed feelings about his past. On the one hand he was defending his family by killing his dad, but on the other hand his dad was walking away at the time and not actively hurting someone when he stabbed him. Yes, his father had just thrown his mother down and she was knocked out. But, I don't know. It's a very fine line.
Anyways, overall this was actually a pretty good story for being so short. I went with three stars instead of four because it did feel a little rough around the edges at times, but not so much that I didn't enjoy it. Angela and Nick are probably a bit dysfunctional, but hey, who isn't?

(I was given a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis.) 18-year-old Nicole finished high school but chose not to go to university. Now she spends her days working part-time at a book store, and generally being bored out of her mind.
One day whilst sunbathing, Nicole hears a man’s voice speak to her from the woods. He tells her that she is his chosen companion to go with him on a quest. Nicole doesn’t know why she listens to him, but the next day finds herself calling into work sick, packing a backpack, and taking off into the woods.
Suddenly wondering what she has done, Nicole decides to go back home, only to find herself chased by what she thinks is a bear, and ends up lost in the woods. The next day she meets a man who she recognises as being the man who spoke to her from the woods. She also recognises him as a man who has been present in her dreams for months.
The man – Morrel, has black skin, and black eyes with white diamond shaped pupils. He tells Nicole how he is from a world called ‘Dawn’s end’, and that Nicole has been transported to his world to help him stop the ‘nightfall’ – a time that causes darkness to fall and the world to fall into evil.
Can Nicole help Morrel to save Dawn’s end?
This book was a nice, light, fantasy-romance type book, with an interesting storyline, a well-structured world, and sweet, likable characters.
Nicole is a sweet, kind girl who seems much older than her years, she’s quite mature in her decisions, and doesn’t make rash judgements or decisions. She doubts that she is the right person to help Morrel and his people, but ultimately has talents that prove useful when they are on their quest.
The people of Dawn’s end are humanoid but different to us too. Their colouring is different – people are white, black, and other colours; but their colouring is different to ours in that the colouring is the same inside of their mouths etc. The people also have animal qualities – pads on their feet, and fur like hair covering their bodies.
There is quite a bit of history surrounding Dawn’s end and the darkness which is befalling them. This is not an isolated incident; their people have been fighting against the nightfall for hundreds of years, and must live with the consequences of their actions.
There was some romance between Nicole and Morrel which was sweet, and clean, but ultimately didn’t take over the story, which was good. There was plenty more to the story than just the romance element.
Overall; a light fantasy romance. Good if you’re looking for some light entertainment rather than a serious read. 6 out of 10.
Nicole Newman (18) is no longer romantically looking for love, because her fiancé betrayed her. She was going to college but now is working P/T at a book store. Nichole really does not have much of a life.
She is out in the woods sunbathing & hears man’s voice who is asking for her help. Is she dreaming, is he stalking her, who is he & what does he want? The next day she calls in to work sick, & off to the woods Nichole goes again.
Nicole & her mystery man Morrel (black skin/eyes with white diamond shaped pupils) must complete the mission (quest) by nightfall or time will cause darkness that leads to the world turning into evil ways. Morrel was the 1 in her dreams. He lets Nicole know he is from Dawn’s End & she has been transported to his world.
The PPL are humanoids & are white/black, have pads for feet & fur like hair that covers their bodies. The humanoids have been fighting against the nightfall for about 100 yrs.
Are Nicole & Morrel becoming romantically involved? The $64 ? is can Nicole help Morrel save Dawn’s end from the darkness?
Awesome book cover, font & writing style. A great paranormal or sci-fi or paranormal suspense filled, mystery. A fairly well written book, most of the time easy to read/follow, never a dull moment. Lots of surprising twists/turns. No grammar errors, or out of line sequence sentences. Quite the unique set of characters. Might make a great sci-fi movie or TV series. I will give this book 5 stars.

I don't know where to start this review, to be honest. It was very cliche. We have a "damsel in distress" who runs from abusive boyfriend and meets up with the "bad boy from the bad side of town" who is also the object of her desire in the shamelove variety. They begin this steamy romance, but they can't be out in the open because she is of the prim and proper society that would disown her if she ran away with the poor kid with a troubled past.
Like some of the other reviews I read, I was surprised about the level of erotica in this YA book. Holy cow! I've read more toned down sex in books that were labeled as erotica. I'm not complaining, but would be very surprised if I had a teenage child reading this.
I can't say it was all bad though. I didn't flounce it and I found some enjoyable parts to it. I liked "Angel" when she was around Nick. I felt, as he did, that they were good for each other. I despised "Angela" when she got too far into herself and the expectations around her. I wish she would have had less emotional whiplash and more following her heart.
There was so much potential to take this book another place and soar. With the overdramatic situations and speed of the novel, it just fell a bit flat.
My expectations were low, after all this is an inexpensive ebook with a corny 1970's romance cover (despite the fact that the main character is a contemporary teen.) I expected cheese and less than stellar writing. Unfortunately this story has zero characterization, zero character development, and a weak plot. This reads like a long, telling of one person's story of a relationship. Assume you know the person so there is no need for that person to provide descriptions, set a scene, include character insight... I hate giving such negative reviews. But even after reading all two-hundred plus pages, I can't tell you anything about the characters, who they are or why they act the way they do. I read about halfway, then skimmed through to the end. Had I not bought this I probably wouldn't have even made it that far.
Loved it! Just Beware that this is not a YA book. It goes into too much detail to be a young adult and I would hope that Sophia would address this cause when I purchased it, I read Young Adult right near the title and boy was I in for a shocker when it wasn't so young adult. Now this is ok for me to read since I am 30, but if I was a teenager getting my hands on this supposed "YA" book, then I would be in for a big surprise when when they start the heavy makeout sessions and then full on intercourse. They either messed up on the advertising of it or I'm just a bit old and need to get with the times. God, I hope it is the first scenerio :)
I enjoyed Nicole's journey to her quest in Dawn's End. The ending was quite rushed, but other than that it was quite adventurous. Along the way the characters developed and changed for the better. I guess for me the ending was too sappy for my taste, but other than that, it was ok.
The writing was good and the plot had a decent pace. The story was interesting and filled with action. There was hardly any cussing (two word at the end) and no graphic sex scenes (there is sex, but not graphic).
There were some editing mistakes, but not really disturbing. I'd recommend this for teens between 12-16, though it is romance, it is not the main theme.
Errrm.. it felt awkward reading this book. The one clear thing to me is that Angela is one walking contradiction. She doesn't want anything to do with Nick because he's all i'm-a-bad-boy-and-i'm-also-a-poor-and-torured-soul.. but she just can't keep her hands to her self. I hated her character from the start. I was hoping that i'll like her in the middle but she only got worse. And the ending? i guess all is well because they eventually got together again (predictable, actually).. but i still didn't like her. Maybe this book wasn't just for me.. hmm..
Not my favorite book ever. By a long shot. It was rushed, and a bit over sexualized and dramatized... The two main characters have mad hot sex in high school. A lot. To the point of skipping classes and being in trouble of failing. There is domestic abuse speckled throughout the book as a back drop that is never really addressed, except briefly in the bad boy's history. Then.... Suddenly they end up living in the same dorm in college and it's all sunshine and roses again. On the upside, it was another free book, and took all of an hour to read/skim. *shrugs*

Another enjoyable read from this author. A fantasy where the unsuspecting heroine is propelled into a journey of surprising adventure while discovering her true self and her capabilities.
This is a well written tale dealing with issues such as love, fear, good and evil, where much is not what it seems.
well hopefully for the two it would last, with Angela's attitude to question what everybody else think it sucks for Nick. I have an awesome time reading the story and it sucks for people to not know the entire story behind a person so we can't judge them by the happenings of their past.
DNF- Bad writing, I am of similar age to the characters and found them to be rather childish. The main character was extremely unlikable and bitchy. The other characters had no development, predictable plot, cliche characters. Not for me.
Loved this read. Made me smile even after reading it. It's not a long story, but i really liked it after reading collision course. From tough and painful to a happy read :-)
