Carrington's #1.5

Me and Mr Carrington

Rate this book
A short story from the author of Cupcakes at Carrington’s – and a prequel to Christmas at Carrington’s!

Georgie Hart can’t believe her luck. It looks like Tom, the hunky boss of Carrington’s Department Store, in the picture-postcard town of Mulberry-on-Sea, is as hot for her as she is for him. After a romantic Italian get-together leaves her on Cloud Nine, Georgie is brought back down to earth with a bump when she has to get back behind the counter of the Luxury Handbags section.

But when Georgie is left open-mouthed by a revelation from one of her well-heeled customers, it seems like Tom hasn’t been entirely honest with her. Has Georgie done her usual trick of adding two and two together to make five?

Ever wondered what happened when Georgie first got together with Mr Carrington himself? This deliciously funny short story is perfect for anyone who loved Cupcakes at Carrington’s, and for those discovering the lovable Georgie Hart for the first time. The story also features an exclusive peek at the next book, Christmas at Carrington’s.

After finishing Cupcakes at Carrington's this morning, I was hungry for more. The next Carrington's novel will be out next month (November 2013), but author Alexandra Brown has not left her readers in the dark until then thanks to her short story, Me and Mr Carrington.

At just 40 pages, this is a very quick visit to the Carrington's Department Store at Mulberry-On-Sea. It begins with a quick recap, through a conversation between Georgie and her friend, Eddie, then moves on to show that Georgie is still a little uncertain as to her budding relationship with new store owner, Tom Carrington. A bit of aristocratic drama and misunderstandings ensue, before things are brought to a very pleasant, totally chick lit ending.

Although Alexandra has done a good job filling in the necessary details so new readers will be brought up to speed with the most important parts of the story, I would still recommend readers start with Cupcakes at Carrington's before reading this novella. It isn't essential, but it will help the reader get to know and love the characters.

So, all in all, this is just a tiny taste of Georgie and Carrington's fun to satisfy our appetites before the release of Christmas at Carrington's. I can't wait.

Una novella piacevole per chi ha letto la storia di Georgie e Tom, anche se l'ho trovata un po' ingenua.
In ogni caso da leggere per chi ha amato i nostri protagonisti ;)

Georgie Hart has it all-almost.

She’s the new supervisor in Women’s Accessories at Carrington’s and is in love with the dashing Tom, who she teasingly calls Mr. Carrington. The only problem is she isn’t too sure if they’re actually an item.

Sure, they’ve been hot and flirty but there has been no conversation about where they stand. Georgie was wooed from the first moment she saw him but has begun to have doubts about his sincerity.

Those doubts are thrown into a sharper focus when Georgie begins to wonder if it was her she came to see in Italy or if she was merely a convenience. Those doubts are thrown into a tail spin when she overhears two customers talking about Tom’s upcoming nuptials to someone who isn’t Georgie!

However, this is a Carrington’s novella and nothing is as it seems. By the end of the book, you’ll be cheering at the delicious twist that changes everything…

I absolutely loved this novella. When Alexandra Brown announced its publication date, I was thrilled. I kept wishing for October to move faster so the novella would be published. Thankfully, it lived up to all of my expectations and then some.

See, I’ve read her gorgeous debut novel, Cupcakes at Carrington’s, three times already and it only came out in January of this year. It’s a book that manages to be romantic, laugh out loud hilarious and absolutely brilliant all at once. It’s hard to believe that Brown is a first time author, so great is her skill on the printed page.

What I love most about Cupcakes at Carrington’s and now Me and Mr. Carrington is Georgie. She’s the every woman and she manages to be lovable and endearing at the same time. Georgie is what you’d get it you combine Becky Bloomwood and Bridget Jones; but Georgie’s character all comes down to Alexandra’s brilliance.

Even more than that, she writes fantastic secondary characters (Eddie!) and seeing them again in Me and Mister Carrington is like coming home. It’s not only a book you’ll love, but the characters within the pages will find their way into your heart.

It takes a very talented author to do this and Alexandra Brown succeeds on every level. I can’t wait to see what Georgie will get up to in Christmas at Carrington’s.

Even better, readers are given an early Christmas present as Me and Mr. Carrington has an excerpt from Christmas at Carrington’s to wet your appetite for the November release! I’ll have to read Me and Mr. Carrington a few more times while I wait.

Do yourself a favour and get yourself a copy of Cupcakes at Carrington’s and Me and Mr. Carrington. Carrington’s is one store you won’t ever want to leave.

Verdict
I am only recently a Carrington's series fan and Boy am I gutted I haven't read Cupcakes at Carrington's before now and I even finished it in a day I was that hooked..However more of that book in another review tehe.

Me and Mr Carrington is a short story by Alexandra Brown where we catch up with Georgie Hard and her hunky boss/boyfriend Tom Carrington and the wonderful Carrington's store.
With it being a short story I cannot give too much away but however you will love catching up with them all and drooling over red velvet cupcakes again though..and the fabulous thing with the short story is that there is a preview of Christmas at Carrington's too....eeek! cannot wait for that..wayyy too excited hehe!

It was great having all the characters back again in my life as they are all crazy bunch but just ever so loveable too, I had missed them a lot! For huge fans of Cupcakes at Carrington's are going to love this so much.

Georgie Hart is a very happy girl. Having bagged herself the hottest man in Mulberry-on-Sea, Mr Tom Carrington, she feels like the luckiest girl in the world. But leaving Tom behind in Italy on business after their romantic rendezvous might be harder than Georgie realises. When her customers come in gossiping about Tom and his Italian adventures, Georgie becomes more than a bit worried. Has Georgie overstepped the mark and presumed too much about her and Tom's relationship? Will all be well when Tom returns home?

Me and Mr Carrington was a welcome treat from Alexandra Brown. It was the perfect way to break up the time between Cupcakes at Carrington's and Christmas at Carrington's. This short story was a fun and easy read with some fantastic returning characters. Georgie is a relatable main character and for that reason this story has extra charm that you don't find in all books. Even though Me and Mr Carrington was a short story I didn't feel like anything was missing. It was a perfectly contained story all by itself.

This book is great for a catch up with Georgie and the gang. Eddie is funny and quick with his remarks and Sam is there to support Georgie whatever happens. I also really loved one of Carrington's customers, the Countess. She was hilarious without even meaning to be! I will definitely be recommending this book to all fans of the Carrington's series.

I have just finished reading Me and Mr Carrington by Alexandra Brown which is a short story which I am not usually a fan of but I loved it! It was great to meet back with the fun loving characters of Carrington’s and to get a glimpse as to what has been going on since we left them.

It was great to have Eddie back in my life, he is such and fun character, I think everyone could do with a friend like Eddie to bring some sunshine into our lives. Georgie is still a down to earth lovable character and it feels like we are meeting back with old friends. I love that although it was only a short story it didn’t feel rushed at all and also you fall in to the storyline straight away. I do feel that you need to have read Cupcakes at Carrington’s before reading this novella just so you get to know the characters first.

Obviously with this being a novella I can’t really talk about the storyline as I will give too much away but what I will say is if you loved Cupcakes at Carrington’s as much as I did then this one really will not disappoint. It was great to have a little fix to keep me going until I can read Alexandra Brown’s next release.

This has left me wanting more and I can not wait for Christmas at Carrington’s to be released now.

I absolutely LOVED Cupcakes At Carrington’s and so I was so excited to find out that Alexandra Brown had written a short story – Me and Mr Carrington!

We are back with the characters from Cupcakes At Carrington’s…and it was SUCH a joy to be reunited with them! I had missed reading about their lives and so it was exciting to find out what they were all up to! It was so enjoyable to be back with Georgie, every time I read about her she feels as though she is my best friend! And my favourite character of all Eddie is back, I think I actually squealed in delight as he made his entrance.

As this is a short story revealing anything other than the description above would be giving it all away, but what I can say is that Me and Mr Carrington is just as delightful and enjoyable as Cupcakes At Carrington’s. Alexandra has such a talent with writing that I can picture every scene clearly, and it felt as though I was there amongst the handbags, I really was transported to the wonderful world of Carrington’s!

This short story has made me even more excited for Christmas At Carrington’s. If you haven’t already then start with Cupcakes At Carrington’s, move on to this beautiful short story and you’ll soon find yourself in excited anticipation of the next Carrington’s read!

As you're all very much aware I adore novella's. I love how fast, smooth and packed full of everything they are. In my personal opinion it takes a damn good writer to be able to get that balance spot on and have you not wanting it to finish. When a short story comes out that's a prequel to another book and is also a little extra from a previous book that I loved then as you can only imagine I am more than excited to get stuck in.

Me and Mr Carrington is of course jam packed with everything you would expect from a Carrington book. Drama, Drama, Drama! It gives us Carrington fans a little update on Georgie and Tom's relationship since Cupcakes at Carrington's and also has little updates on the adorable Sam and the fabulous Eddie. I enjoyed it immensely and as soon as I finished it I wanted my copy of Christmas at Carrington' straight away.

I loved Cupcakes at Carrington’s and I excited for this short story, I just couldn’t wait for the story to continue.

We are back with Georgie and her friends and of course super gorgeous and sexy Tom. It was great being back with them and reading more about their lives. Georgie and Mr Carrington have wonderful relationship and a pleasure to read about. They are not always together in this short story and also some drama comes up, but their chemistry is amazing. Alex’s writing is brilliant and she has a real talent to describe every single moment of the story.

This short story is full of magical scenes and sparks. It has made me so excited to read Christmas at Carrington’s and Icecream at Carrington’s. Alexandra Brown definitely has become one of my fave authors!!!

4 stars because even though I know it's a short story it was just too short! I loved it and I'm sure I'll read it again. It was a fun read and even though I'd already read the other books before this one I still got caught up in the "will he won't he" with our main character Georgie.
