My blood runneth Garnet. I dare say the most loyal and disappointed fans in the country may well be Gamecocks. There have been bright spots for fans, but we have never reached the pinnacle to which we aspire. It's always wait til next year. Even one of our greatest years, 1984, chronicled here with humor (insider mostly), delightful essays and commentary, and the wonderful artistic touch of Robert Ariail (my favorite), ended in disappointment. And yet we persevere. So in this corona-virus-interrupted sports year, I turned for solace to this recounting of a season I didn't witness (having been indoctrinated to Gamecock fanaticism only in 1989). I would have preferred a prose recounting of the games. But there are many chuckles for Columbia locals and USC faithful. Good photos and gentle ribbing.
