Angel-May Saga #1

Hidden Destiny

Rate this book
There is a prophecy foretold by the witches of long ago, and recorded in their sacred Book of Spells. The prophecy has been passed from generation to generation and taught to every supernatural child to ready them for the time of the great war and the re-birth of the chosen one.

For sixteen years Angel-May Black has been locked in a room, hidden from view - a prisoner within four walls. Beaten by her father after the loss of her mother, she is alone, unloved, and waiting for death to claim her.

However, Angel has been chosen by the gods to possess a power that will awaken during her seventeenth year. The once dormant powers of her inner-self grow stronger with each passing month and Angel must learn to control them to escape the nightmare she lives and gain her freedom.

On the day of her eighteenth year she is rescued by two supernatural beings, hired to find her by a grandmother she never knew, to bring her to safety and put Angel on the path that she must take to conquer evil.

There is much danger ahead as those who wish to destroy or control her for their own means are near and Angel, with the aid of the bloodthirsty Zared and other supernatural allies, must fight if light is going to ultimately triumph.

But there is another problem ahead for Angel. She is connected to two men by powerful unbreakable bonds. Angel must reveal her Hidden Destiny if the prophecy is to be fulfilled. To do this she must give one up to save her future and that of her unborn child, Isis. Whether she will make the right choice is yet uncertain.

HIDDEN DESTINY is the first installment of W.A. Case's ANGEL-MAY SAGA.

DNF-ed at page 61.

Hidden Destiny is a book about a 17 year old girl who has been imprisoned and abused by her father her whole life, until one day two strangers show up in her room: and not just that, but she recognizes one of them from her dreams. Turns out they've been sent to get her by a grandmother she didn't even know she had, because of powers she didn't know she possessed.

The description of Hidden Destiny was what caught my attention. The book could have been so good, if it was just executed well enough! But what happened was that it fell down the same trap as multiple other books have before it (Shatter Me, Switched): the insta-love/love-taking-over-the-plot trap. Now I do realize that this is a pnr-romance, but it's still supposed to have a plot? No? Yes?

But it didn't. And the romance wasn't even realistic. Page thirty and they were already grabbing at each other, and Zared wanted so badly to "enter her forbidden cave".

The only bit of plot there was ended when they arrived at the girls grandmother's house, and the little there was before was slightly confusing and not interesting enough to keep me hooked.

I really tried, but it just didn't do it for me.

3.9 Didn't quite make it to four stars but pretty close.

I received a free copy of this from the author is exchange for an honest review.

This place meant a lot to her. He could see the love she had for this place. He couldn't deny that, not after everything they had gone through.

Angel-May has spent her life beaten by her father who holds her responsible for her mothers death. Her dreams are the one things that helps her hold on to life, and then her powers finally become awakened and she must learn to control them in order to escape. When she's rescued, she finds herself inexplicably connected to Zared, the vampire. From there, she travels a dangerous journey in order to protect herself, Zared and her unborn child, Isis.

It's been a while since I read any paranormal romances, with vampire and shifters etc, and so it was refreshingly nice to be given the opportunity to read this.

Let's start with the plot. Whilst the teenage-girl-develops-powers-that-are-really-powerful is overdone, I thought Hidden Destiny tackled it very well, I particularly enjoyed the dream time-travel and found it very unique. It was fast-paced and full of action.

One thing I really enjoyed was the characters. I found Angel-May a strong and admirable character, intelligent but her imprisonment for the majority of her life was obvious, and her ability to read and write was explained as well, as this was something that I was worried about. I found Zared reacted very genuinely to finding out about this 'soul-mate' bond, and found him a fiercely loyal character. I would have liked maybe some more development of relationship between the two characters, but the time-frame in which the majority of the story takes place is limited. I did enjoy the secondary characters, but perhaps some more development would be nice.

The reason that this did not get 4 stars from me is because there were some punctuation and spelling mistakes.

Overall, a good action packed paranormal romance that I highly suggest you give a read.

Hidden Destiny is about a a girl named Angel-May who has spent her life locked in a room and is beaten by her father daily because he blames her for the death of her mother. Despite her misery life, she still has a little bit of hope when she has these dreams. In addition, she discovers she has powers that could help her escape. Then one day her dream, slowly, becomes a reality.

I quite enjoyed this book. It has lots and lots of intense romance but yet still has that face-paced action element to it. I liked learning more of history of the world that the author created and definitely did a great job explaining everything.

I also loved the main character Angel. She was pretty smart even though she hasn't spent a lot of time outside her room and into the real world. I also laughed at Angels lack of knowledge of the human objects like her description of a TV. Angel was also strong and fierce in the enemies she had to face throughout the book.

I also liked the relationship between Angel and Zared. The author did a good job on why they are so attracted to each other and it makes me want to see more of them together.

Overall I really thought this book was great. And I'm glad the author gave me an opportunity to read her book.

I hope W.A. Case makes a sequel because I really want to see what happens next!!

Angel was abused and beaten for years by her father, he blamed her for her mothers death. During these beatings Angel would drift off and leave her body into an astral projection and see a better future. A future of a loving husband and a daughter named Isis, promises of her being safe and ruling.
At the age of 17 Angel is finally released and saved from her father by a vampire named Zared who she called to her.
Zared doesn't know what it is about this blonde haired green eyed beauty that had him flustered and feeling things he hasn't in years. They are both summoned to meet Callie Angels grandmother from whom they learn they are bonded to each other and Angel has a special gift that can call to all elements and use their powers and suck the energy out of people and project it where she likes. With this power she can be come the most powerful person and stop a war and change the world for the better.
There are others who want her dead and will do nothing to stop her such as a powerful witch named Leeda. Leeda has to kill Zared to weaken Angel and take her out. If Angel learns how to fully use and control her powers she can become unstoppable.

I liked this book, it took me a bit of time to get into to it, but once i started I couldn't stop. I was confused at first by her being able to just leave her body and these flash backs of the past and future to come. The cliff ending sucks cause I really want to know who Madoc is now and what will happen with this three way bond. Thumbs up to the sexy scenes full of raw lust and passion - Beautiful writing.
