Orphaned at fifteen, Jack Hartman sought to escape his abusive and tragic past. He decided to attend the Virginia Military Institute that the opportunities it offered would help him fulfill his dream for a better life. But even the brotherhood he gained did not seem to fill the emptiness that haunted him. Would further success at the school of his dreams do so? Would the love of a woman? Or was there a greater plan for Jack that he could not even begin to imagine?
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had a little mystery & romance & kept you on the edge of your seat. Once I got started reading it, I had a hard time putting it down. It's a great story. I am hoping there will be a sequel.
I was lucky enough to read this book before its publication, and was then thrilled to receive a copy from the author this month. It's a great story set in Southern Virginia about a boy who attends VMI. The author graduated from VMI in 1984, so the reader gets an inside look at this institution through the eyes of a former cadet.
