Zum Inhalt:
Bis Jake und Ren auftauchten, war Mahiro eine ganz normale Schülerin, die sich mit Aushilfsjobs über Wasser halten musste. Dann auf einmal erfährt sie, dass sie eigentlich eine Prinzessin ist und Ren ihr Bruder. Als wäre das nicht schon genug, trachtet ihr auch noch ein geheimnisvoller Söldner namens »Condor« nach dem Leben! Nur langsam entspinnen sich die Fäden dieses mysteriösen Falles …
Cover:
Auch das Cover zum zweiten Band der Reihe hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Zu sehen sind hier die beiden Geschwister Mahiro und Ren. Mahiro wirkt auf dem Cover sehr glücklich und die Robe der beiden mutet königlich an. Das passt sehr gut zum Inhalt der Geschichte und scheint mir daher perfekt. Außerdem bekommt man auch hier wieder einen sehr schönen Eindruck zum Zeichenstil von Yuu Higuri.
Eigener Eindruck:
Nachdem Mahiro und die beiden Söldner Jake und Ren vor einem Angriff der Armee von „Regalia“ entkommen konnten und auch der Auftragskiller „Condor“ sie hat gehen lassen, scheint wieder etwas Normalität einzukehren. Doch schon bald bemerken Ren und Jake, dass Condor Mahiro zu beobachten scheint. Während die beiden ihn für ihre Sache gewinnen können, läuft in Regalia die Zeit für die böse Königin Fibyura ab. Wenn sie bis zum Tod des Königs nicht erreicht hat die Kette Crown zu bekommen und den Thron zu besteigen muss sie fortan in einem Kloster weiter leben. Etwas, was die machtgierige und intrigante Fibyura nicht dulden kann. Sie beauftragt einen neuen Auftragskiller, welcher Mahiro endlich töten soll…
Das war wieder ein sehr schöner Band. Neben actionreichen Szenen gibt es hier auch allerhand zu lachen. So entpuppt sich der neue Auftragskiller als juwelenliebende Frau und geht den beiden Söldnern Ren und Jake schnell ins Netz, indem Ren sich an sie heranschmeißt. Während Angela – die Killerin – denkt, dass sie Ren schnell übertölpeln konnte, bemerkt sie schnell, dass sie bereits erwartet wurde. Doch das wird dann irgendwann zur Nebensache, als sich Angela als Mann entpuppt, der es perfektioniert hat als Frau aufzutreten. Eine herzlich ulkige Situation, welche den Leser nicht nur einmal zum Lachen bringt. Außerdem erfährt man mehr zu den Charakteren, was ich wirklich super finde, denn Details sind bei mir hoch im Kurs. Die Geschichte bleibt also spannend, aber auch sehr komplex. Man fiebert mit, man versucht das Handeln der Figuren detailliert zu verstehen. Das ist einfach so genial gestaltet, dass man die Finger kaum von dem Manga lassen kann. Einzig dieser magische Hauch, den der Manga durch die Macht des „Crown“ birgt, das finde ich ein bisschen unpassend, aber da kann man drüber hinweg sehen.
Fazit:
Weiterhin sehr spannend und komplex. Da macht das Lesen wieder richtig Spaß!

Mahiro's team of bodyguards increases by one – Ren and Jake invite the smitten Chondrite “Condor” Bourne to join them and protect Mahiro during the day, while they're busy hunting down potential assassins and doing research. In the latter half of the volume, a new assassin is sent...but not after Mahiro. Angela, a sexy assassin who only works for expensive jewelry, is told to kill Ren and Jake. She becomes curious about Mahiro, who she guesses is her employer's true target.
I think I'm going to stop here – I doubt the later volumes are worth the effort and, possibly, expense.
Somehow, Mahiro manages to become even more boring in this volume than she was in the first. It's difficult to believe that she's supposed to be 16 – her puppy-like behavior makes her seem several years younger. When she's not behaving like a disgustingly adorable child, she's enveloping everyone in her aura of gentle love, sweetness, and acceptance.
She sucks Condor in with that aura, and he becomes one of her faithful servants. His behavior is basically that of a stalker, but, since he can kill any potential assassins that might threaten Mahiro, it's all good I guess. I was at least thankful that not one of the guys showed an ounce of jealousy when Mahiro acted affectionately toward any of them. Although I think Condor noticed how very close Mahiro and Ren are.
This volume had fewer bloody killings (but Ren and Jake are good guys, killing people for good reasons!) and fewer icky indications that Ren and Mahiro might become a couple in the future. That should have meant it was better than the first volume. Instead, I found myself growing rapidly tired of the story and characters. Also, I was not happy with some parts of the latter half of the volume.
First, there was Ren's belief that Mahiro needed to build up an “immunity” to strange men. Mahiro had a habit of fainting around naked/nearly naked hot guys, and she was uncomfortable being near the good-looking celebrities visiting her school to shoot a movie. She told Ren and the others, “I can't help it. I'm sort of scared of guys I don't know.” So what did Ren do to try to “help” her? He arranged for him, Jake, Condor, and Angela to wear swimsuits and soak with Mahiro in a hot tub. She was so clearly uncomfortable that I cringed.
Second, there was Angela.
Extras:
A funny little "what happens after the cover image scene" comic on the first page, a two-page comic-style author's note, and a one-and-a-half-page comic-style artist's note. Is Higuri's head a...cucumber?

Crown, Volume 2 is even more entertaining than the first volume. There were so many hysterical moments that make you fall in love with all of the wonderful characters even more. I particularly loved petrified Jake, Mahiro's excited exclamation to Ren in the lingerie shop, and the jacuzzi scene. Fun, fun, fun!
This volume also introduces a new assassin hired by the queen of Regalia, Phoebula (I can't get over this redonkulous name!) to snuff out Ren and Jake. The breathtaking assassin, Angela, is a duplicitous little minx and I quite enjoy her character. She has a fun little secret that throws the boys for a loop.
We also get to know another character who was introduced in the first volume. If you thought the hawt duo of Ren and Jake couldn't get any hotter...woowee! Add assassin Condor to the mix and hot diggity damn! Boy, that triple-threat of yumminess - you almost can't take it. Condor has quickly become my favorite character. I love how he's a professional killer, but melts at the sight of Mahiro.
I am loving this series. I think the characters are showing more depth with this volume, especially with the heartbreaking ending. The action is perfectly blended with the silly humor and kawaii moments. I can't believe none of the other volumes have been translated. I'm dying to know what happens next. Well, I enjoyed it while it lasted. If it kept going the way it did, I just might have shelved it on my favorite-manga list.
Someone please translate the rest of the series!! I feel tortured!

Since I loved the first volume, I was fairly certain that I'd enjoy this volume as well- if not more so since the basic storyline has already been set up. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed.
This second volume introduces two new characters to the crew, one is a new protector & one is a new assasin. The first is an ex-member of the evil queen's army who has sworn to protect Mahiro from any & all harm. The second is a beautiful assasin with a secret & a penchant for getting paid in gems. The good thing is that the assasin isn't making any sudden moves just yet. The bad news is that the assasin is showing an interest in Mahiro's pendant!
I have to say, I did like this volume more than the previous one. The character dynamics really are great & the action definitely goes up a notch in this book. (Can you say huge explosions?) I loved the introduction of the new characters, especially the assasin Angela. The relationship between Mahiro & Ren gets a little stranger & they seem to be getting a little closer (forbidden love?), but it still has yet to cross any boundaries. (Even if it does, I'm curious to see where this will end up going!)
If you loved the first volume, I recommend getting the second. The authors keep the pacing going pretty well & I just love the artwork- it's so cute!

Kurz-Meinung:
Zum Inhalt werde ich nicht viel sagen. Man muss diese Reihe auf jeden Fall der Reihe nach lesen und daher lest bitte für den Hintergrund der Handlung erst Band 1 oder meine Rezi dazu.
Die weibliche Hauptperson, Mahiro, wird ja von ihrem Bruder und dessen Freund beschützt und in diesem Band kommt noch ein weiterer Charakter (der einem aber auch schon aus Band 1 bekannt ist) dazu. Durch diese 3 sehr gut ausgebildeten Herren kommen jede Menge Action und Überraschungen in die Handlung. Eine richtige Liebesbeziehung gibt es hier nicht, aber es gibt immer wieder kleine Andeutungen. Was mich sehr positiv überrascht hat, war der Gegenspieler in diesem Band. Diese Figur war genial und vielschichtig! Ich finde, dass diese Reihe eine eher komplexe Handlung für einen Manga hat und bin überrascht, dass es eher durchschnittlich von den Lesern bewertet wird. Mir gefällt es super.
Der Zeichenstil liegt mir ebenfalls sehr. Ich mag sowohl die normalen Zeichnungen, weil sie so klar und gut gewählt sind, als auch die verniedlichten, witzigen Varianten, die immer wieder eingestreut werden. So etwas liebe ich bei Mangas ungemein. Überhaupt ist der Manga nicht nur spannend sonder auch sehr humorvoll.
