♦ 5 "We are unstoppable" Stars! ♦

So, this will be very very short. Down the Aisle is a short novella about the first couple of the series, Lacey and Galen. They are getting married and it is beautiful! I loved the party (and the sexual tension between Courtney and Rafe, cannot wait!), and the wedding (not as much as I expected.. you will see) and the honeymoon!! I was in tears at the end! <33

“You are my rock and my roll. My safety net and my high wire. I love you now and will love you forever, with all of my heart.”

“Lacey, you are everything I've ever dreamed of and everything I was too stupid to even dream of.”

So, this was sweet and hot and because I love these two together so much, my rating is 5 STARS! ;)

Catch up of Lacey and Galen with their wedding. Short quick and easy read. We get to see whats been happening to them since Down for the Count. They are getting married in a week, Cat kidnaps her for a bachelorette party, Galen picks her up drunk - love Laceys drunken talk. Their hopes and dreams for a family and whats holding it all back. Even though its a short read, i really did enjoy and feel this one.

“So what are you supposed to do with it?"

He eyed her incredulously. "For real? It's called a butt plug. What do you think you're supposed to do with it?"

She scratched her nose and nodded, trying not to let the apprehension show. "Okay. I'll do it. But if it hurts, just let me know and I'll take it out, stat. Don't be a hero."

He gaped at her and shook his head. "Aw, no. Sweetie. That's not for me.”

Funny stuff. That's why I love this series!

I feel heavily invested in this series, and we hit a tumultuous time catching up with Lacey & Galen as they head towards their wedding day. A brief appearance of Cat and an introduction to Rafe...*sigh*.

I'm diving straight into Down on her Knees!

It seems like just the other day that I was reviewing an Entangled Brazen book by Christine Bell - probably because it was. Just last month, Bell released the first book in the Love Match series, Dirty Trick, but this month, she returns to her Dare Me series to with the new novella, Down the Aisle. Readers first met protagonists, Lacey and Galen, in Down for the Count, after Lacey's first disastrous attempt at a wedding. Down the Aisle picks up shortly after, tackling the emotionally intense issue concerning the couple's efforts to start a family.

All of the previous Brazen books have a guaranteed HEA, wrapping each story up so there's no doubt as to the future of each couple, so it was a nice surprise to see Down the Aisle return to a couple that readers are already familiar with and give them a follow up story. Down the Aisle is almost like an extended epilogue for Lacey and Galen, chronicling the weeks leading up to their wedding.

Even before Lacey and Galen walk down the aisle, they are faced with difficult challenges that would test any relationship. Their struggles are heartbreaking, watching hope turn into despair and happiness to sorrow, but the strong connection between them holds the story together. Even with all the wedding drama and surrounding chaos, Bell finds time to include a few steamy romantic encounters, which help to remind readers exactly why Lacey and Galen are a perfect match, with Galen’s strong, steady presence complementing Lacey’s current fragile state.

Even for a decent-sized novella, Down the Aisle seemed to fly by, flowing smoothly from start to finish. In a short amount of time, the narrative manages to serve a dual purpose, providing closure for one couple as well as introducing a new possible love match for an upcoming book in the series. The addition of two new characters into the circle of friends ensures that the series will continue and, from the brief interactions between the pair, the upcoming book promises to be especially juicy.

Lacey and Galen are just around the corner from their wedding day. Both excited to start their lives together. Lacey wants to start on the big family they've both been dreaming about, but problems arise in the form of fertility issues.

Galen doesn't care how many children they have and if it's not meant to be they will find another way... but he can't wait to start married life with Lacey.

When bad news arrives just a week before the big day, Lacey struggles with the idea that she can never give Galen the life he imagined and Galen does everything he can to show her that she is who she wants.

It was really wonderful to revisit Galen and Lacey. I really enjoyed their book in this series. Bell does a wonderful job of bringing us back to their story and these two were as hot as ever.

But there are some heavier issues in this short novella. Lacey is struggling with fertility issues and it's causing a rift between her and Galen. Her focus has been on doing what she can to get pregnant and start a family rather than on Galen and their relationship and in turn it's suffering. They feel disconnected from each other... and Bell does an amazing job of capturing the feelings that not only Lacey, but Galen is going through during it all.

I love that we got peeks at some of my favorite secondary characters, but also I'm kind of hoping that this leads into a story for Rafe and maybe Courtney... because I'm as intrigued by him as she is!

If you're looking for something short with a lot of emotion definitely pick up Down the Aisle! I'll be looking for more in the Dare Me series ... soon I hope!

Thanks to Entangled and Christine for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Last year I read Down for the Count by Christine Bell and it was really fun and sexy. Galen (the heroine’s BFF’s brother) is a famous boxer who goes off on a honeymoon with Lacey – when she discovers her fiancé cheating on her at her wedding. Galen comes to the rescue and then that leads to kissy time and sexy time and eventually HEA time. As I said, it’s a cute romance you should check out.

Anyway, this leads us to Down the Aisle, a short novella featuring these two who are just about to get married. But there is some stress in their lives. Lacey has had a lot of difficulty getting pregnant, and after trying fertility treatments, they have turned to adoption, which is a very difficult process. This dumps a lot of stress into their relationship, and while they are excited to get married, there is also a lot of stuff that is bringing the excitement down.

I think infertility and adoption and everything related to it is a heavy topic and one that I wish we had been told more about. This is a short story, and a good part of the beginning Lacey is whisked away to a strip club for her bachelorette party and then we have sexy times with Galen (I’m not complaining). I feel that the adoption issues are not explained enough. I didn’t have enough time to become invested in that part of their lives. I would have rather just had this a brief look into their wedding plans and so forth.

So, I say definitely read Down for the Count and if you want a glimpse into their future, check this one out, but it didn’t leave an impact.

It might be short, but Down the Aisle has a good balance of hot and heartwarming going on.

If you haven't already, go read 'Down for the Count', as this novella is a continuation of Galen and Lacey's story. The backdrop of the story isn't an easy subject, but it's written with touching sensitivity and is full of emotion. My heart went out to Lacey and I fell in love with Galen all over again (cue appreciative sigh).

Crammed with sizzling sexy time, fun, humour and romance, I sighed and swooned and fear I'll never be able to prevent a dirty laugh erupting whenever I hear the name Thor. A lovely little addition to the series (I wish it had been longer!) and I really am hoping there's a story in the offing for Rafe and Courtney...

In DOWN THE AISLE we catch up with Galen and Lacey from book 1. I loved getting a glimpse of characters ofter their HEA and this novella utterly satisfied this need for me. Even in the small amount of pages the humorous and sexy style of the other books remain strong.
There was a point in the novella where I was like: WTF! But it all played out well in the very end.

I really enjoyed DOWN THE AISLE and am super anxious or Rafe's story.

I guess timing is indicative of ratings; because I KNEW I read "the main book" for this novella... I couldn't remember a lot of the details at first. I do know I liked that a lot more than this one - this follow up was cute, but didn't have the oomph of Lacey and Galen's falling in love story.

D+ definitely... or a C- ... minus >.>

Guess I'm grumpy today - or maybe I'll have to re-read [both] to reassess.

This book was fine but it was definitely too short as it didn’t really seem like Galen and Lacey sorted their issues out.

They never actually talked about the situation and just avoided saying anything to do with it.

If things had been different at the end, I’m not sure that they would have stayed together and been happy.

Also, I didn’t really see the point in the scene with Lacey’s mother.

This was fine but hopefully the next book will be better.

I absolutely loved Lacey and Galen from Down for the Count, Christine Bell’s first book in the Dare Me series. This novella is their story after the HEA. They want a family badly and have tried unsuccessfully for a while to either conceive on their own or, since that doesn’t seem to be working, adopt. They are also only a week away from walking down the aisle.

Every single thing I loved about that first book is still present in this novella. Humor, wonderfully hot sex scenes and some laugh out loud dialogue. Lacey still needs help coming out of her shell and Galen still wants to protect her. I mean seriously, the story opens with Galen’s sister and Lacey’s best friend Cat kidnapping and hooding her to take her out to a strip club named The Meat Market. Here’s just a small tidbit from that hilarious goodness:

“Jesus, did you seriously just handcuff me? she asked, craning her head to get a look at her assailant.

“I did, ma’am,” a low male voice purred. “Because you’re under arrest, and I’m taking you … in.” A second giant oily man in a policeman’s cap and a holster seemingly only held in place by his enormous, banana hammock covered man-meat leaned over and did a shimmy.

Surely they were kidding right? There was no way they’d really do this to her.

But they do. Poor Lacey gets an eye full of some well hung, oiled up strippers. It’s up to Galen to come to rescue her.

Regardless of the beginning, this novella had a heavier feel than the other books in this series. Lacey and Galen have a wonderfully loving relationship. Their chemistry still burns up the page and Galen remains a charmer, but there is a tension between them now. The quest to have a family has put a strain on their sex life and there is a lot of pain and heartache with each let down. Galen wants to give his Lacey what ever it is she wants and that includes children. He feels further away from his lover than ever and will do just about anything to spice up their love life again. It’s a lovely thing to watch as they reassure each other and find their HEA once again.

There are some new characters introduced and I do believe that they will be the next couple in this series. I am so excited and intrigued by them as a potential couple. I will most definitely be putting their book on my TBR list. I loved this novella and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, funny read with just the right amount of angst and sexy times. Final Grade- B

Favorite Quote:

“I love when you wear clothes like this. You’re my own sexy school teacher.” Another kiss, this one over the peach silk of her bra. “When you’re getting dressed in the morning, walking around in your skirt, putting on your earrings, fixing your lipstick, it takes all my strength not to follow behind you and undo all the things you’ve just done.”

My Review:
Definitely don't try to read this one if you haven't already read Galen and Lacey's first book: Down For The Count. You'll miss out on way too much of who these characters are if you read this one first. I loved Galen and Lacey in their initial story and I was really happy to see more of them in this short novella.

This was still a sex-filled story, definitely explicit. For a short novella (that does have a prominent storyline), this book has a lot of sex. Galen and Lacey are really hot together, but this time in their lives was rather heartbreaking.

The story really centers around their infertility battle as they get ready to walk down the aisle. I felt the issues and emotions were presented in an authentic manner, but I didn't quite think the story lived up to the back cover. I expected something a little different. The back cover implies that Galen shows Lacey how it doesn't really matter if they have a baby or not, he really wants to be with her no matter what. I understood that throughout the story (because we're in Galen's head a bunch too) and I never felt any doubt about it, but I felt like they got another happy-for-now ending without dealing with the depressed feelings that especially Lacey was having and would have continued if things didn't work out just right.

Not that it was a bad ending or anything. I felt satisfied and confident that they were happy together and that they love being able to journey through life together. It's just didn't seem to actually deal with the sadness in a way the back cover implies.

I was happy for Lacey and Galen that they were able to work things out, but felt like they could have worked through some of the issues they were having as a couple before everything wrapped up so tidily. I felt like they got to a solution without having to grow as a couple. But it was great to revisit them and see their wedding. I'm looking forward to seeing snippets of them in future books set in this world.

I enjoyed Lacey & Galen in Down for the Count so I was excited to see an extra novella about them and their “happily ever after”. It really fell short for me. They had this passion and intense connection to one another in the first book and even in the glimpses of them in the second book about Cat & Shane. Now a year since the time on the island, and even less since the cameos in the second book, they have no communication with each other and evidently a lack of passion. They both have inner dialogue of their love "Instead, he’d focus on the definites. And he definitely loved the shit out of his woman.” but don’t share it with each other.

Evidently there is a pressing fertility issue that causes them to seek children before they even tie the knot. (I have experienced infertility so this addition to the story and timeline was unrealistic to me but I looked past it). Well sex becomes mechanical and lacking "Her enthusiasm gave him hope. It had been almost two weeks since the last time they’d had sex” so instead of talking he runs to the sex shop! Of course because it can all be solved there. I am all for a little spice but it’s not a substitute for communicating it’s like putting a band-aid on a problem.

The entire short story we follow Lacey & Galen go around and around and ignoring each other and their “issues”. Causing doubts in their relationship and questioning their future. "Was that how things were going to be now? She wouldn’t talk to him, she didn’t seem to want him around, and the only time they’d slept together was when she’d been half in the bag” . All of this even ruins their wedding. I was looking forward to the “happily ever after” not a different couple to appear in the place of confident and passionate Lacey & Galen.

Just fell short.

Full review on my blog, Becky on Books.

Lacey Garrity and Galen Thomas are cohabiting, and their wedding day is fast approaching. All is not quite as it appears on the surface, though. They both have been looking forward to starting a family, and soon--only to discover that infertility might be an issue. As the big day looms closer, Lacey and Galen face internal struggles over the issue, both hesitant to broach the topic out loud. Will they be able to face their situation together, strengthening their bond, or will it divide them forever?

Oh, the heartbreaking angst in this one! Watching Lacey try to carry a devastating secret all alone so as not to "ruin" the wedding day and honeymoon for Galen was painful to read. Poor Galen--he can tell that Lacey is pulling away, but doesn't know exactly why, nor does he know what to do about it. They were killing me with the drama--in a good way. Being a romance novel, I was fairly certain there'd be a HEA of some sort at the end, but yikes, there were some pretty dark moments along the way to it.

Galen has his own secret, though, and that's what will bring on the happy ending. (Phew!) It was a bit on the short, sweet, and sudden side, but as it's a novella, that tends to be par for the course. For fans of the series, Down the Aisle will give a satisfying glimpse into the lives of the couples from both books one and two, and show you the direction that book three will be taking. (Can't wait to read it! Courtney and Rafe's story sounds like all kinds of smexy fun.) If you haven't read the rest of the series yet, you're definitely going to want to--pronto.

In a nutshell: Angsty glimpse into the future lives of series characters. A quick but satisfying ending. A- rating.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The first two novels in the Dare Me series deal with Lacy and Galen in Down for the Count, and Cat and Shane in Down and Dirty. I loved both Galen and Shane equally, and was looking forward to a little more from both couples. Down the Aisle came as a bit of a surprise for me and I really loved it.

I have to say something about the cover. Besides it being super sexy, his hand on her lower belly is just so sweet and emotional.

Now, for the story: Lacey and Galen are perfectly perfect for each other, and love each other immensely. Lacey wants nothing more than to give Galen a family, while Galen is doing all he can to prove to Lacey he would love a family, but she is all he needs.

The story takes place just before their wedding, and they’re dealing with fertility issues. They have undergone treatments and have accepted the possibility of adoption.

A week before the wedding they receive bad news. Lacey, feels like this would dampen the pre-nuptials bliss hides the news from Galen. Galen on the other hand is frustrated and very much affected by Lacey’s abnormal behavior, feeling a change in the dynamics of their relationship.

We also got a taste of the other characters – and very cleverly done – Christine Bell fed us a taste of Rafe and Courtney. And that little taste made my palate happy. <— that’s a hint, Christine.

Bell has created a beautiful equilibrium of angst, drama and sexy with a delicate touch of humor. And she has not forgotten to tie it all in a nice HEA bow.

DOWN THE AISLE is the third instalment in Christine Bell’s Dare Me contemporary romance series. Down the Aisle is a novella that re-visits Lacey and Galen, our couple from Down for the Count-Dare Me #1.

Down the Aisle focuses on Lacey as she prepares for her upcoming marriage to Galen but not all is well in the relationship department. Our couple have been trying to get pregnant for close to a year, and each day brings the heartbreaking news that they are either not pregnant or the adoption has been turned down.

The reader watches as Lacy and Galen face rejection once again just days before their wedding and we watch as the couple struggle with the intimacy of their relationship.

Down the Aisle is a short story of one couple’s struggles with infertility all the while preparing for their impending nuptials. Lacey’s BFF abducts our heroine for a night on the town and for a few hours she is able to forget about her sorrows, but reality will come crashing back.

The world building is limited in the short storyline but most of the major players have been introduced in previous novels. But there is also the introduction of Galen and Lacey’s friends –Rafe and Courtney- who seem to be heading for a tumultuous and interesting storyline. There appears to be a power struggle with some BDSM play in the future.

Down the Aisle is a novella with a little bit of romance; a little bit of sensual and steamy sex; a little bit of humor and a whole lot of love. You will feel for Lacey and Galen as they struggle with some issues that many couples face in their relationship and in the end, perhaps there is happiness around the corner.

I always enjoy catching up with couples after their story has ended. Christine Bell lets us in on Lacey and Galen's life as the prepare for their upcoming wedding.

I loved Lacey and Galen in DOWN FOR THE COUNT. Galen helped Lacey forget the disaster that was her wedding and to realize she needed to start living life. As the story begins they are a week away from their wedding and there is a bit of tension between them. Not because they don't love each other and don't want to get married, but because of the stress of dealing with infertility issues...including adoptions that fell through. Lacey is internalizing her feelings and shutting Galen out. Galen doesn't understand what's happening with Lacey and he wants to get the girl he loves and adores back.

It was fun to see the lengths Galen would go through to spice things up. It was very clear just how important Lacey was to Galen and what he would do to make her happy. Of course, at the time he thought it was just the lack of sex that was the issue. But Galen tried and you couldn't help but love him for it.

Lacey held way too much in instead of relying on Galen to be there to support her. Her reasoning, wanting to save the bad news until after the wedding was noble, but in the end it tore her apart (resulting in a less than perfect wedding ceremony).

In the end, Lacey and Galen get their happily ever after, again.

A quick read, but one that was fun and emotionally charged. For anyone that's read the Down for the Count series, this is definitely one to pick up.

ARC provided for an honest review:

I have loved Galen and Lacey since I first read their love story in Down For the Count. I'm so thrilled that author Christine Bell has written the next chapter in their lives with Down the Aisle. I absolutely loved it and the author did an incredible job writing an emotional tale of how love conquers all. Galen and Lacey are very much in love and looking forward to their wedding day. However, they have been struggling with starting a family and endless fertility and adoption procedures, disappointments and lack of communication has led to a strain in their relationship. I loved that this author had this couple tackle a real life issue with fertility and showed how they dealt with it together. It was heartbreaking and I could feel their sadness and pain during what should have been a happy time for them. I enjoyed how Galen and Lacey were able to overcome their obstacles and get their happy ending. It was also great to see Cat and Shane again and also witness the sparks between Rafe and Courtney. I am dying to read Rafe and Courtney's story next. It's likely to be a scorcher with what we already know about Rafe.

While you probably don’t have to read Down for the Count, I think your reading pleasure would be greatly enhanced if you did. Reading Down the Aisle reminded me how much I LOVE Galen Thomas and Lacey Garrity. Their love story is truly one for the ages.

With the possibly of having to spend her life with Galen childless, Lacey isn’t sure she can go through with the wedding. She’s afraid that at some point Galen will resent her for them not having children. But it’s up to Galen to show her that their love can conquer all things. And he does that in spades.

The book starts off being very funny. But then it takes a serious turn. Don’t worry, there are still some hot moments in it. I really liked this book and I wanted it to continue. But on the plus side, a new potential couple gets introduced and from the eye daggers flying and challenges made, they are going to be hotter than hot. Can’t wait for more of this series..

This was such a touching, heartwarming story. Galen and Lacey were the perfect couple. You could tell they had found true love, the only problem was unable to conceive a child. They were due to get married very soon but had started to try to conceive long before because of complications, even started adoption processes but after one let down after another, it was effecting their relationship.

Galen' s character was wonderful, he was so supportive, caring, kind, loving, attentive, strong, charming as well as loved Lacey wholeheartedly. Galen' s sister, Cat, whom was also Lacey' s best friend had me cracking up. She was truly and good friend and sister.

This was great short read that tugged at your heartstrings but was funny and fun as well as hot and steamy. I look forward to reading more by Christina Bell. He’d taken a dozen blows to the face from Manny Hermosa in a heavyweight title fight and hadn’t shed a tear, but now, his eyes burned and his vision went a little blurry. Lacey Garrity had laid him down for the count, and he loved her like crazy.
Finally, she was standing there, staring up at him, and his whole world felt right.

I like it that the author did find time to write this one even if it is too short. When we read romantic stories, the end is usually a happy ending and we settle for that since we knew that it ended as that only. Ofcourse, it does not end only in that when we speak of reality. They still fight with each other, have problems they find hard to settle. There's always a question of what happen next and the author kind of supply that in this story. And it is also a plus that it's short because sometimes, when a story in book 1 is continued by book 2, 3, it drop from best to worst. This is a cute, always sweet considering the man is Galen-whom I wish I could have just for myself-and great story.

Down the Aisle (A Dare Me Novella) by Christine Bell picks up shortly after the first book, where Lacey and Galen with the couple's efforts to start a family and planning their wedding.

Lacy is left with disappointment when she might not be able to give Galen a child of their own and their efforts to adopt have also brought heartbreak. Galen know something is wrong with Lacey because she is showing signs of withdrawn but he is thinking it is stress with the wedding.

Lacey is withholding the latest news about not being picked as the couple to adopt from their current prospective mother. Also Gavin is hiding a secret because he does not want to bring more heartbreak to Lacey.

Will these two make it down the aisle or will Lacey try to run again?

Also The Admiral will try to make amends with her daughter as to explaining why she is the way she is but time will tell if they will ever have a mother/daughter relationship.

I would recommend this to romance readers but keep in mind this is a very short book.

I really enjoyed Down the Aisle by Christine Bell. To begin with, Brazen covers are really hot and this one fits in perfectly with the imprint. Ms. Bell tackles the serious problem of a couple dealing with infertility in a wistful and caring way. The tenderness and compassion that Galen exudes is truly heartfelt and beautifully written. Lastly, I found the ending slightly predictable, however, it is exactly how I hoped it would conclude.

This is a well conceptualized novella. It is a fast-paced sexy romance with a realistic plot that many woman can identify with. I found the characters well-developed and engaging, especially within the confines of a short-story. The chemistry and love between Lacey and Galen is passionate, in addition to being lighthearted and playful. The love scenes are beyond sizzling. If you are looking for a quick, romantic read with an original plot, give this novella a try!

So for me as a reader nothing bugs me more when in the last paragraph the Hero/Heroine profess their love and then the book just ends. I love epilogues and being able to get a glimpse into to life after "I Love You". So novella's like this one are perfect for me going back to get a glimpse of what is happening in characters lives after.

This book in particular hit home for me. As someone who has has troubles getting/remaining pregnant I know intimately the disappointment of not being able to have the family you want. Ms Bell dealt with it in such a wonderful manner all the while giving me the outstanding chemistry Lacey and Galen have always had.

Though a quick read it was the perfect cake topper to Lacey and Galen's story for me.

Overall I give this 4 out of 5

PS cannot wait for Rafe's book :)
