Looking to cure Bub's condition, Chihiro and company have finally arrived at ZoMA HQ. There, they are greeted by ZoMA's chief, Salva Arnschent Kurumiya, along with his adorable zombie daughter, Rosarie. This place has been called the zombie "holy land" but with cute girls like these to tickle Chihiro's fancy, could this be a bit of zombie "paradise"? Meanwhile, the Chief has taken an interest in Rea and conducts a series of tests to probe her unique zombie state. Is Rea's rare condition the key to suppressing the "turbid period"?
The gang arrive in Zoma and Shihiro feels uneasy after meeting Daryn's father, the chief of the zombie facility.
After questioning and testing, Shihiro is left for dead in the confines of zombieland while the chief tinkers with Rea. Realizing what has happened, Daryn confronts her father, realizing that she was nothing but a pawn in his grand scheme.
Shihiro is rescued by his grand father and in a confrontation between the current and former chief, certain family secrets are lightly revealed.
We also see Daryn's past and how she came to become a zombie scientist.
Summary (for the whole manga): Furuya Chihiro is a die-hard fan of zombies. He has a whole collection of zombie movie DVDs, zombie dolls/figurines, and other zombie-related stuff. With his grandfather's old book, he secretly tries to craft a resurrection drug that is said to be able to bring back the dead in the form of a zombie. Chihiro's beloved cat, Babu, has recently died; and therefore he wants to test the drug on Babu. In the event of his experiment that was done in an abandoned building, Sanka Rea, an heiress of the Sanka family, unexpectedly comes to the well near the building to vent out her frustration towards her father. Both of them surprisingly got along with each other afterwards, and Rea shows interest in Chihiro's zombie experiment. Rea secretly steals some of the resurrection drug from Chihiro and drinks the drug with the hopes of ending her life. However, nothing happens after she consumed the drug. The next night, Rea falls over a cliff when she was with her father. Surprisingly, Rea did not exactly die, due to the drug that she consumed. Rea becomes a zombie and is free from her father's grasp. She decides to live with Chihiro's family. Chihiro then does his best to keep Rea from rotting away and to learn the real truth about zombies and the resurrection drug.
Having no where else to turn, Rea, Furuya, Bub, and Darin all travel to the island in which ZoMa resides, in hope of bettering Bub's condition, and once they are there, they find that it may even be possible to reverse death for Rea...! But Darin's father quickly takes an interest in the very peculiar specimen that is Rea, and in the process of achieving his dreams, he may remove everything Furuya has ever once held dear...
AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!! SON OF A BIIITCHH!! THAT ENDING PISSES ME OFF, BUT ONLY BECAUSE I'M GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG FOR THE NEXT VOLUME. GYYAAHHH!! Sankarea has slowly been building up for four volumes, and now, it might actually be hitting a big climax. I thought that Bub's "cremation" was going to be like a big milestone, but Rea kind of ruined that. Then again, I guess this arc couldn't have come about without Rea's actions then. Is Sankarea still in the first arc? Or is it in the second or third? I really can't be sure anymore, but it feels as if it were still in its first arc. IT REALLY IS GETTING SOO GOOD THOUGH!! Even the villains (Salva) are as if they are straight from a zombie movie. AND I STILL HATE THEM JUST AS MUCH AS I ALWAYS HAVE. GRR. But anyway, small review for a small volume, I guess. Now that they've saved Bub though, I'm going to be pissed if they allow him to die much sooner than Rea, if Rea is never going to be able to be fully human again, that is. AND WHERE THE HELL DID FURUYA GOOOO...?! It did look like a zombie leg that zombie was eating, BUT STILL..!! GYAAHHH, ALL THAT FREAKING BLOOD!! I'm sure he's fine though, knowing Sankare-- WHAT AM I SAYING, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE ANIME, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE FIRST THREE VOLUMES. SANKAREA IS UNPREDICTABLE NOW. I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF THEY KILLED FURUYA. EVERY TIME SOMETHING HAPPENS I THINK "OP. WELL, FINALLY THE MAIN CHARACTER HAS BECOME A ZOMBIE, HIMSELF, TOO." AAAHHHHH, THIS SERIES HAS BEEN MAKING ME SCREAM INTERNAAAAALLLYYYYY..!!
I don’t know what it is with manga lately, but the last few that I’ve read have left me with a horrible cliffhanger. This one probably being the second worst one.
In the last volume, Sankarea had decided to go to Zoma with Darin, to let the scientists test her. Chihiro protests, but decides to go with her when she won’t relent. The lab is on an island, and the scientists immediately latch onto Sankarea, wanting to find out what’s different about her, and they have some surprising discoveries.
We’re introduced to Darin’s creepy father, which explains some of why she’s the way she is. We also meet a girl zombie, who is utterly creepy.
And then we’re brought to the end of the volume, which has two surprising twists. The one with Sankarea has me very interested, because if it worked, that would be a very big development. But the one with Chihiro is horrible, if it actually happened. I was seriously not expecting either of these things to happen, especially so fast.
It has me really eager to get my hands on the next volume, though.
Il manga si è fatto decisamente interessante. Non me l'aspettavo!
