UPDATE 2016:
Check out my full review HERE: https://escapingrealitybookreviews.wo...

Please don't judge this book by it's cover.
Kaitlin masterfully weaves each new mythology retelling, and I will continue to read everything she writes. She is a phenomenal author! Aphrodite was a nice addition to the Daughters of Zeus series. It was well-paced, suspenseful, and full of surprises. If you’ve read the other books in the series, absolutely read this one! But I don’t think it’s the kind of book I desperately want to re-read.

I am 18 and I recommend this book to readers 17 years or older.

2014: SO EXCITED. OHMYGOSH. It's been like 3 days since I finished The Iron Queen and I already miss the world terribly!

Oh Gods ! That book was amazing, I wasn't a fan of Aphrodite in the previous books, but here she's a marvellous character. This world, Kaitlin Bevis created is awesome, and everything is connected to Greek mythology so precisely, it's amazing !

I absolutely love Ares, and I hope Aphrodite will choose him over Adonis in the next book, because he's got a huge past, he's just too endearing to me. And I can't stand Adonis, really I can't ^^' I couldn't in the mythology so I can't in any retellings unfortunately !

So a huge 5 out of 5 stars for me, I'm so glad I read that book now and not in March because the next book Love & War will be available at the end of this month, I can't wait !

(sorry for my poor English, I'm French !)

CHARACTERS-
So I don't like Aphrodite, she wasn't the charcaters I was looking for to read about. She just wasn't my favrouite person and I think the reason I didn't like her was because she was so different to Persephone who I loved.

ROMANCE-
I do like Ares and Aphrodite together, I think that they really suit.

PLOT-
The plot was good but I didnt think it was as fast paced and as adventurous as the first 3 books in the series.

ENDING-
I will read the next book even though I wasn't really impressed with this one.

It's not easy being perfect.
Zeus may have created Aphrodite to be a living doll, but she's determined to prove to everyone that she's far more than just a pretty face. So, when she's asked to investigate a series of strange events that have been happening on cruise ships, she doesn't hesitate for a moment. Little does she guess just how much this mission is going to cost her. The problem is that demigods are disappearing at an alarming rate. Determined to find out what's happening to the missing demigods, Aphrodite manages to charm herself in the nicest room on the ship. Unfortunately, that room is already occupied by Adonis, the only demigod that she knows of who is immune to her charm. Aphrodite has no idea what to think of Adonis. It's quite clear that he hates her, and all of the other gods. But, he still saved her. And, she's incredibly attracted to him, even though, she's still reeling from a disastrous-yet incredible-fling with Ares. These men just may be the death of her! When she realizes that Adonis just may be the next target, her investigation becomes personal. Only the more she learns, the more it becomes obvious that Aphrodite is deeply in above her head. Confronted with a new, powerful opponent, it doesn't take her long to realize that she may not be as immortal as she thought.

Even though this book was seen through the eyes of Aphrodite instead of Persephone, I still really enjoyed it. I enjoyed getting further insight into her personality and what makes her tick. I absolutely love the relationship between Aphrodite and Ares, as well as getting further insight into the other gods of the Pantheon. It was interesting seeing the repercussions of everything that Zeus had put them through and how they're dealing with the aftermath. The addition of the various demigods really added to the story. It made them even more relatable. Really, the plotline was so well thought out and executed. I was enthralled from the very beginning. Now, I'm going to absolutely have to start book five because I can't wait another moment to see what happens next!

This went beyond my expectations. When I started this book I was kinda skeptical about how this story would go and how much I would miss Persephone and Hades. Knowing that the main character was Aphrodite and Adonis didn't make it better cause they weren't my favorite people when they showed up in the last few books. At first before going into this I remembered at the end of The Iron Queen, Poseidon personally invited Aphrodite to his dreamscape and asked her for help with the missing demigods.

When this book started off rocky and different from how it was described before I was so confused. Throughout the book I kept think that Adonis hated gods including Aphrodite and Poseidon was some kind of monster. But halfway through the book Adonis warmed up exponentially to Aphrodite and you could almost say he cared and might have liked her.

As this story progressed I was more invested into Aphrodite and I was starting to like her and feel for her. I was rooting for her happy ending. I was so confused if she was going to end up with Adonis or Aries. I wouldn't have minded either. Adonis at the end broke her heart and betrayed her and then saved her with his life. This story got so complex and intricate that every little detail made the picture a little more clearer but bigger too.

I hate how the story ended in a cliffhanger worse than the one for The Daughter of the Earth and Sky, when Persephone got kidnapped. It ended so abruptly and intensely, I don't know if I can't wait over a year for the next book. But I'll still totally recommend this book! It was another amazing installment to this twist on Greek mythology. You just can't keep away for this world Kaitlin Bevis paints for you. It's so vivid and endearing and action packed that putting down her books aren't an option. With all this said I hope you'll give this book a chance and this series a chance because it is written beautifully and I can't say anything bad about it.

This is quite a different story with a twist...the Greek gods are attempting to locate missing demigods from a Cruise Line. Aphrodite is the newest (youngest) goddess, and volunteers to find out why they're missing and where they've been taken to. I've always been enthralled by Greek Mythology, so I already knew all the gods and what they represented...but someone not having that knowledge, might spend time playing catch up. Even then, there are a lot of factors about each god and demigod about their powers, or lack of, that need to be kept straight, but the author did a great job of refreshing those details throughout the story, yet without bogging it down.

There is quite a lot of humor within the story, and not because the gods are meaning to be humorous, but through the superb writing of the author, the dialogue is fluid, taking hold from the onset, pulling the reader through twists and turns and some revelations. Even though this is the fourth book in the series, and I hadn't read the first three, there was not too much catching up needed as the author provided the backstory when needed...and there is a lot of backstory.

There is a suspenseful edge to the story involving the missing demigods and the underlining reason for their disappearance...this runs to the end of the story which happens to be a cliffhanger. At the height of the suspense, when the culmination of all the factors of the story have come into play, this story ends, to be continued in the next book. My curiosity has definitely been piqued, and I surely want to know what happens next, so you can bet I'll be keeping an eye out for the next installment of the series.

This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley for my honest review.

I'm a sucker for mythology and this story really sucked me right in. This was my first taste of this author and I'm looking forward to going back to the beginning of this series.

Aphrodite is a fascinating character who in this version is living in the modern world and has her own issues to deal with especially after no longer under Zeus's thumb. When demigods go missing on a cruise ships, Aphrodite is sent to investigate. She will soon realize that there's a sinister plot going on, enemies are not who they seem, loyalties will be tested and Gods will need to get along the combat the evil targeting them.
This book was a pleasure to read and was hard to put down. I love Aphrodite, Persephone and Ares in this version who have had a tough time of things but are trying to move past that. I really hope Aphrodite gets her own happily ever after.
My only complaint is the cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next installment!

This was a fantastic read. This was the best book of the series. I am very happy with this book. It contained all of the excitement that the first two books had. I think Aphrodite became her own in this book and it is very interesting to see. I love how the first three books were about Persephone/Hades relationship. Now, it is time to find out Aphrodite's story. I loved the story. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the way Kaitlin Bevis knows how to incorporate Greek mythology into modern-day stories. Very inventive. I recommend to fans of mythological stories, especially Greek mythology. Overall, an amazing read.

Greek mythology has long been my favorite and Kaitlin Bevis made Persephone & Hades my favorite couple with this series. Other series have featured the love story of Ares & Aphrodite so I was excited to continue this series with their story.

While the first three books focused mainly on the Persephone/Hades relationship (and a lovely ride that is, too), this one embarks on new territory by sticking exclusively to the point of view of Aphrodite. It’d be easy to dislike the “Barbie Goddess,” as one character calls her—she’s physically perfect, she’s occasionally clueless, she may often come off as shallow and self-serving…she’s, well, Aphrodite. But I thought Kaitlin Bevis did a marvelous job with the character, showing us her suffering and fears, all of which are inseparable from her recent origin as a creation of Zeus’, made specifically to do his bidding. Now Zeus is gone, but Aphrodite’s left with the nightmares. She’s unbalanced, and unsure what to do with her freedom.

To get the other gods to trust and like her a little better, which they haven’t entirely so far, she volunteers to help solve the latest divine mystery: namely, why some demigods have been disappearing. The mission takes her onto a cruise ship, where she winds up sharing a room with the demigod Adonis, and as you can guess, there the fun begins!

Part of the fun is that Adonis doesn’t even seem to like her, at first. He’s a model, on board for a traveling photo shoot, but he’s no fluffy pretty face; he’s responsible and intelligent, and disapproves of Aphrodite’s intrusion and doesn’t hesitate to tell her so. So when she finds her powers mysteriously weakening on the cruise, and leans on him for help more and more, their emerging feelings for each other are that much more delicious. Also, they do a stint of photo shoots together, which just feels like the perfect occupation for Aphrodite and Adonis in the modern age, and I SO would love to see those resulting clothing ads, featuring the two of them scantily clad on a Caribbean beach. Sounds gorgeous!

I didn’t guess at all who was really behind the disappearances and attacks, so kudos to Kaitlin for a plot well constructed. Also, Ares turned out to be much more of a sweetheart than I expected, which was an endearing surprise.

Though we get a satisfying ending, the series is clearly not over and the adventure will be continuing in another installment. Hurray! Stay tuned.

**thank you to netgalley for a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
HELL YES.

This is the fourth book in the series and given how many references there are to the history of the characters, I think that I would probably have benefitted from reading the previous books (I’m going to have to go back to them now to make sure they’re as good as this one!).
The general premise of the story is that pantheon of Greek gods are having a reshuffle following the defeat of Zeus and are trying to get their lives back in order. While this is going on in the background, demigods are disappearing and the gods have decided that it’s about time they start investigating what’s going on.

Aphrodite volunteers to go to the mortal world and investigate.

It's the psychology of this book that makes it so intense, Aphrodite experiences extreme emotions throughout the book as a result of the trauma she’s suffered and at times it’s really hard to read. Difficult, but worth it.

Of course, that’s not the only great thing about this book- the action sequences are also well written and play out naturally rather than coming across like a cheesy film scene. The suspense, action and characters are artfully written and altogether blew my mind.

If, like me, you’re a sucker for any book that brings mythology to life – especially one that doesn’t gloss over how messed up that mythology is, give this one a read.

This was the best book out of the 4!
Aphrodite is definitely one of my favourite Goddesses, and it was nice to know her and find out in this way.
I loved how she "fought" with Adonis and defended herself. Actually I shipped them together, but it was nice to see Ares be the good guy for once, Hallelujah, still I do not like him. lol
It was thrilling, it was nice to see how she grew into this character, and as a Goddess loved everyone(not in that way...)
The thing that I did no like was how Adonis ruined everything :(
I would like to see more of this series, but I still do not ship her with Ares, even though even I admit that he was the best here.

It's three in the morning when I write this review so excuse me if my thoughts are jumbled. I just finished reading Aphrodite and I wanna get my thoughts down before I forget.
I recently finished rereading the previous three Daughters of Zeus books when I found out there were more. You would not believe my excitement. Add in the fact that I would be getting more info on Aphrodite?! I love Persephone and all but I really did wonder how Aphrodite was dealing with the whole post-Zeus thing. It's kind of insane looking back at my first review of the Iron Queen that I didn't like Aphrodite. Rereading it again I found myself empathizing with her a lot. Suffice to say I loved this book for giving me a proper view of Aphrodite and her trauma. It definitely made her a more likable character. Also, I was really happy to see how the new Pantheon of the Gods was working out.

I'm sorry if my review doesn't make sense. The gist of it is that I loved this book and I can't wait to start reading the next in the series.

Maybe I would have liked this book more if I had read the others in the series. I didn’t like Aphrodite as a main character and her whatever with Ares and Adonis was annoying. The thing I did like was the mystery about the missing demigods.

Yes finally finished. Omg I thought I would not get to the end at all. The story started strong as it continued from the third book, but the mid part was so boring I couldn't bring myself to read, at all. Also why it took me so long... The ending was better. Unfortunately or Lucky (your choice) I don't own the fifth and sixth book, and I'm not willing to buy them as I'm not that into the story anymore. So I guess this is where it ends for me. Bit shame, because I really wanted more Ares, but better as I can start a more fun book again!

I was initially disappointed when I discovered that the fourth book of the Daughters of Zeus series switched from following Persephone to Aphrodite. She wasn't exactly my favorite character in the previous books, but I actually ended up liking her in this one. I understood her more, and that helped. The other gods (Persephone, Hades, Ares, Poseidon, Artemis, Athena, am I missing anyone?) from the other books play a part in this one, too, but the story does follow Aphrodite.

I was suspicious of certain characters (), but I didn't expect what actually was happening to the demigods. That surprised me, but it made sense.

Lucky for me, I have the next book through NetGalley.

The only thing I remembered about this series was that I really liked it and that it had been about Persephone, oh, and also that Demeter died. That’s all. So here I was blindfolded with an open mind and knowing this was gonna be about the goddess of love and beauty. I must admit it was hard to go through the first 100 pages, but then I began to enjoy it and actually yearn for this one’s characters. So, yeah. Decent way of finishing this year.
SLOWLY I STARTED TO LIKE IT.
It was truly hard to go through the first pages. I wasn’t feeling this plot of the cruise and all demigods being models, I found it quite boring to the point I was about to quit it. However, once I found the actual plot of demigods vs. gods I liked it, however, most of my drive and desire to finish this was because I fell in love with Aphrodite and Ares. I usually never like them, but here damn, I fucking did.
I ADORE APHRODITE’S PERSONALITY.
At first, I wasn’t feeling her confusing personality, until I got she was depressed and dealing with PTSD without proper medicines nor therapy. I found myself crying when she was down, rejected, dealing with the trauma of god-knows-what Zeus did to her, powerless, and with issues regarding her identity. I wanted to fight for her, I wanted to shoot Adonis (I still do, he must die) and explode Poseidon and the other demigod whose name I don’t remember that tried to assault her (they must be eliminated for good!). I’m now fiercely protective of her, she’s the goddess I misoginistically judged and never thought I could side with.

A continuation of the YA series Daughters of Zeus (Book 4) and the first one in which Aphrodite is the MC. A new mystery and many of the wonderful characters from the previous novels, although not enough of Hades. Alas, we finally get to see more of Ares, which kind of makes up for it. A good contemporary interpretation of the love goddess and the god of war. The reader also meets some new mythological characters that are interesting. I look forward to the next one! For fans of YA adaptations.

This book was a LOT better than I was expecting. I honestly didn't care for Aphrodite throughout the entire series wherein Persephone was the main narrator. In this book, Aphrodite becomes surprisingly less vapid and more likable. It also carries on from the Persephone-themed books quite well; although if you're looking for more Hades-Persephone interest, you won't find much more.

2.85 ⭐⭐ pero solo porque hay como 150 páginas de más y todo lo bueno viene en los últimos capítulos del libro. Solo por eso no puedo darle más estrellas. Mucha paja.

Simplemente no puedo.😍😍 Sexy perfect man 🤩🤩

Estoy esperando leer la siguiente parte de su historia porque el cliffhanger está 😮‍💨
