God Culture: Book One of Understanding the Almighty Series

Rate this book
Have you ever heard yourself cry out through the chaos, “God where are you? Why is this happening?” or perhaps even, “God, are you real?” In a tattooed pop culture world that is perpetually trying to keep up with the Kardashians, God Culture introduces a greater knowledge of God and an invitation to engage in a deeper and more intimate relationship that will transform your life. With worldwide plagues such as rampant terrorism and children shooting children, God Culture explores Jesus’ true intention of reconnecting mankind with Yahweh, while revealing why God behaves as He does, how we can learn to comprehend and relate to Him, and ultimately how we can apply His wisdom to our individual present day life experience leading to our ultimate destinies. God Culture dispels the age-old myth that “God works in mysterious ways.” The misunderstanding of God’s true motives, methods and divine nature has left millions of people yearning for answers to such timeless questions as “Why did God allow that? Has God left me? Or does He even exist?” When “Life can only be truly understood when looking backward” those who feel lost, confused and perhaps even abandoned will discover that He actually uses the every-day challenges and chaos of life to cultivate His will while simultaneously connecting with us on a personal level. This thought-provoking discussion has been composed to help you gain a new understanding of God and to develop the knowledge of and insights into God’s behavior, plan and purpose. If you have been perplexed by the daily chaos of life don’t miss God Culture. As you peer into the supernatural realm of heaven the God you discover may be quite different than you could have ever imagined.

I received a free copy of God Culture, Book One by John A. Naphor via Goodreads First Reads.

After Carefully reading, I give this book 3.75 stars. Overall, I believe the author did a pretty good job explaining the workings of God through a series of scriptures with follow-up commentary done in laymans terms. This book (as it was meant to be) is not a fast read. Normally, I plow through a book a day, but, not this one.

We all wonder if God is ever present in our lives, and when things go south quickly, and painfully, as humans we all ask that question at some point. Being a Christian is not a hobby or a Sunday obligation. It is, however, a way of life. When placing God as some pivotal (AND/OR sometimes minimal) influence in our lives, we each must decide if we are willing to make God our very essence of life itself. The author describes it as following God Culture, instead of Pop Culture.

First I would like to point out a few things I liked about the book.

The author did a wonderful job of laying out a clear guideline for study that flowed very well. Each lesson primed the reader for the next lesson. I found the commentary insightful as well as engaging, even using a dash of humor in teaching. My favorite example of this was the explanation of the conversation between Eve and the serpent. It is my personal belief that Eve had full understanding of God's order and was able to relay this (pretty accurately) back to the serpent. Still, she was enticed by the liar. It is the world we live in today, full of pleasurable lies, being lead to believe we can become greater than God and having no need for him as our guide.

What issues I have (had) with the book were minimal, but nonetheless reflected in my rating of this book. There are points made with obvious conviction that I felt should have been expounded upon. One being the statement that Denominations (such as choosing one?) being clearly labeled as sinful. Another example being the explanation from 1 Peter 1: 6-8 and incorrect punctuation. I wish the author would have backed these claims up with scriptural evidence to justify that statements. For those who really want to study the word of God so that the changes they make in their lives are correct and divinely driven NEED to know- 1: Where /how they should worship. And, 2: Why the information contained in their bible may not be as accurate or interpreted/translated wrongly. (perhaps list the codex used or the translation version used?)

As with any book claiming to explain God, I would encourage EVERYONE to always pull out your bible and read for yourselves as you read along with the book you have chosen as a study guide. If you are unsure of the meaning or translation, DON'T SKIP OVER IT, research the passage!! (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

I would recommend the book as a good platform for both new believers, self-taught believers as well as seasoned Christians. I look forward to more books in the series as well as the entertaining dialog of the author.

Happy Reading!

I received a free copy of God Culture, Book One by John A. Naphor via Goodreads....

This book provided thought provoking exercises and content! So many books regarding religious viewpoints are hard to understand and are wrapped in mind boggling theories. I found his words and the way it was set up easy to understand while still requiring the reader to move past just the words and look deep into ourselves.
