What would you do if everything - and everyone - you loved was taken from you?

When Rand Sebastian, a highly trained vampire hunter, fights Delilah, an ancient vampire, she reveals something so shocking that it nearly destroys him. But is it the truth or a lie?

Then, while on a vampire hunt with Ambra, an unexpected tragedy puts Rand in a position where he must recruit others to sustain their operations. When he considers hiring a vampire to join Brotherhood of the Blade, it will set in motion a series of events that will test his leadership decisions, his fighting skills and his belief that goodness will always triumph over evil.

Samantha Moon, the vampire detective, lends a hand with intel that could be the break that Rand needs to find his daughter. But the clock is ticking and he must move before the trail grows cold.

On their final mission to slay the ancient vampire, Nero, the vampire hunters and Corbin the werewolf go on a journey where everything is at stake, including the future of the Brotherhood of the Blade and Sisterhood of the Scythe...and the life of a little girl.

Radiance is the third book in the Brotherhood of the Blade Trilogy.

Ridiculous trilogy

It wasn't until I finished this last book of the trilogy that I realized that it wasn't actually written by JR Rain-author of the Samantha Moon series. That explained a few things. From the very first, with the story of how Rand comes to be on the cruise ship/Sam's involvement, I thought, OK, we're stretching things a bit here, but I'll play along...by the time I got to the part where 2 characters are killed by carbon monoxide poisoning, I was thinking, really?? I almost laughed out loud...it was so implausible. And that's the problem with this series...it's written like a soap opera script, with the author asking us to go along with forced plot twists just to move the story along. This is not the worst thing I've ever read, but very disappointing.

Better than the first book.

This was interesting. Even though the "voice" was wrong for the story. It was entertaining. I like seeing Samantha Moon in the book.

This is the 3rd entry in the Brotherhood of the Blade Trilogy, following Afterglow. The storyline for this novel picks up seconds – not minutes, hours or days, but seconds – following the close of the previous book. Eventually this book wraps up all but one of the threads begun in the previous novels. However, that item could possibly be resolved in another book in a related series by the author or in a crossover manner by collaborative author J. R. Rain in one of his Samantha Moon books.

This novel continued in the blocky and choppy writing style that was used in the previous two entries. First, the scenes did not flow from one to the next. Secondly, there was no time line established between scenes and events; you couldn't tell if events were separated by hours or by days.

And thirdly, the dialog was equally choppy. And by this I do not mean to imply that the dialog was spare and to the point. Rather it was disjointed, superficial and forced, scripted rather than natural. I realize that most of the characters were European and that they might possibly speak in that manner indicative of English as a second language. However, there was no depth or true emotion to their speech; it was just that, a speech.

Just as the dialog was lacking in depth, so was the character development. The characters felt like cardboard cutouts in a moving diorama. It took until Chapter 20 (there are only 23 chapters total) before anything broke below the surface of a character’s public veneer.

However, my disappointment in the book was gelled by two other factors. The first is the editing of the story itself. While there were some formatting errors in the e-book version, the main complaint is error of content placement. As one example, at one point Corbin (an ancient werewolf) is described as wagging his tail and panting in agreement to the plans for an attack on the vampires. I shook my head in bewilderment, read back to see if I had missed something or if something had been left out – again – because I was pretty sure he was still in human form during this discussion. Sure enough, two pages later the author now has him change from human form to werewolf form. This type of error, and there were several of this type of error, should never have occurred considering that Ms. Paludan herself is a professional book editor in addition to being an author.

But the thing that bothered me the most centered on the fact that I had just finished reading Witch Way Out, the 3rd novel in the Witch Detectives series, also by Eve Paludan. I gave it a 4-star review, with character depth, character growth and dialog being top-notch, following in the same arc as the previous two books of the series. In the end, I just couldn’t believe that both books, both series, were written by the same author. They were that disparate in writing style and depth.

I finished this book just now with a big sigh; a sigh for the fact that a wonderful trilogy expertly crafted by Eve Paludan has come to an end. This book brings the story of Rand the Vampire Hunter full circle. Even Samantha Moon of the J.R. Rain books makes an appearance.
In this book Rand is faced with an impossible situation- how does the head of the vampire hunters keep his team safe from their enemies and address catastrophic losses in their ranks all while desperately trying to find his missing daughter. Add to that Rand does not know if his daughter is alive, dead or worse yet, undead.
Eve manages to pack suspense, love, grief, joy, a history lesson with a twist and even a car chase though the Alps into this story. Radiantly written.

Guess what I FINALLY have a Review for you I Know I have been slacking (I've been reading just some books I won't review MY Decision)
"RADIANCE" By Eve Paludan Its no secret in my world that I am a HUGE fan of Eve Paludan. I will read everything she writes , she NEVER fails to keep me on the edge of my seat. Radiance, The third and Final book in The Brotherhood of The Blade Trilogy is EXACTLY what keeps me coming back. I almost didn't want to start this book because I knew it was the last in the Story of Rand Sebastian, our hero and Vampire Hunter on a quest to find his Daughter who had been kidnapped when his wife was murdered. Ms. Paludan lets the story flow as we lose people we have come to care about,Friends are reunited, Love Blooms, and Evil in the Form of a Roman Leader is destroyed. Can Rand Find his daughter? Is it too late ? has she been changed? What happens when you kill the only vampire who knows where she is? In a Twist so like the ones Ms. Paludan excites us with we find the answers to all of these questions. I'm sad to see this series end, however Ms. Paludan has done it in such a way that maybe just maybe a few of these characters may end up in another story somewhere I give this Book 5 silver arrows... WELL DONE!!!

I have read other Eve Paludan books and find her a wonderful compliment to J. R. Rain. The Brotherhood of the Blade is a spin off, or maybe I should say an acknowledgement to the Samantha Moon series. The Brotherhood of the Blade is a group of vampire hunters living together in a castle in Switzerland with their partners, The Sisterhood of the Scythe.

The first three books are more like episodes and together tell a detailed story of the joys, frustrations, loyalty, loves, problems, and complete togetherness of purpose of hunting the evil vampires and ridding the world of human killers. They surprisingly find the existence of "good" vampires who do not kill humans and don't feed from human blood, but animal blood. In fact, Samantha Moon is one of their biggest ally.

The first three books; The Burning, Afterglow, and Radiance together tell the amazing tale of this group of people and how they have grown. If you like Samantha Moon books, you'll love these three books. They are full of all the ingredients that make a good book and each one is a page turner that begs you to keep reading.

What a great book, Very engaging! I would never have seen that ending coming. It was so fitting. I really love this series. It was a different perspective to vampire hunters. I loved all their backstory and the character dynamics. Rand is so deep but so much more. I really loved him. Also his daughter is a hoot.

Well written and vivid attention to details. I felt apart of this series and hope to read more. My favorite characters were Rand and Samantha Moon. I loved how her character merged into this series
