Excel Basic Skills: Developing Your Thinking Skills Years 3–4 is the second in a series of three books which aims to develop more advanced thinking, problem-solving, literacy and numeracy in primary school children, for use at home or in the classroom. Each page comprises a self-contained page of activities which help develop a child's ability to think laterally, organise, analyse, visualise and prepare themselves for the work they will encounter later at primary school.
In this book your child will find 64 pages of challenging, self-contained activities covering skills in maths, vocabulary, problem solving, logic, visualisation, research and much more... Interesting and fun exercises and puzzles to challenge students with a special interest in thinking, interpreting and reasoning, activities which can be completed at home or in the classroom, and a lift-out answer section. Much of the work tends to be somewhat open-ended and in many cases there is more than one right answer - a concept that many children have difficulty with, at first. There are times when discussion with the child/class may be the only way to determine the legitimacy of a response. Others are early preparation for what the child will experience later in primary schooling. At the bottom of each page, you will find a reference to the type of skill used on that page.
