AJ Humphreys is an emerging author of spooky thrillers, mysteries, and dreadful tales. The small-town serialized four-volume supernatural mystery saga, Season of The Monster served as his debut within the publishing world.

A member of the Horror Writers’ Association, AJ is also the founder, owner, and chief operating officer of Dark Journeys Press.

When AJ isn’t writing, he can often be found outdoors, possibly walking eighteen holes with his parents, brother, or cousin.

Otherwise, it’s almost a sure bet he will have his best buddy, Kobe The Husky, at his side. Together, they both enjoy hiking, and swimming. AJ operates as an amateur landscape and wildlife photographer, which fits in well with the pair’s thirst for outdoor adventuring!

Wow! Just wow! This series is so arresting and draws you in deeper and deeper with each book. It is so much more than "horror", there's suspense, more like a thriller; paranormal parts, action - it just never stops. I couldn't help but put myself in Ghini's spot and think what would I do if my child disappeared??? Everything and anything. I would suggest reading these books in order, as it will help you keep track and understand what's going on and who's who.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If you like thrillers this is the book for you. Monsters living among humans. Potentially kidnapping humans. There is unrest within the monsters as well.
There is a girl missing and her mom
Is doing everything she can to find her but is realizing that the ones to blame for the girls disappearance may very well not be another human being.

I was sent this as an ARC and in no way was required to review or compensated in any way. This is my honest review.

Disclaimer: This is not the first book of the series. For context, please read the first two books in the series as it will make this book more understandable.

This book is more in the lines of a suspense thriller with a dash of horror and some paranormal. The first thought upon reading this book was, "am I missing something?" I felt like I had landed mid race and was unaware of the track's design… See above comment on reading the other books in the series. Onward then. With that being said, I throughly appreciate the writer's attention to detail and how the scenes wrapped you into what was going on. I have never read any works by AJ Humphreys until this piece.

As a mother and self-proclaimed Mama Dragon, I would turn the world inside out in order to find my child and reign fire upon those that enabled to the well-being of my child. This book was… whew. I wanted to jump in the book and help the characters find the lost child, especially her mother. Those feelings of stress, heartache, paranoia, dread are uncommon in an everyday life and both a welcome and unwelcome attribute of reading this story. The story builds in comparison to the feeling of an impending doom. Like a stone that has been thrown into a pond, the ripples start out big and get smaller until another stone is tossed causing the ripples to splash over each other. That is the best way I know to describe the tempo while reading this book. Am I going to continue this series? Yes.

AJ Humphreys does it again with his tale of Vespids. There is nothing you can do when those honeycombs stare you down.
Cancel your trip to the Black Hills because you don’t know what’s out there, you could fall prey to Queenie and her brood.
Vespids are a monster like none I have ever read. As the story plays in my head my hair stands on end and goosebumps form.
I devoured page after page of this book like I was a Vespid feeding. The end broke my heart but Im still eagerly awaiting a 4th installment.
This book was 4.5 stars and he’s going places with these Vespids. You however aren’t going on that mountain vacation because you’ll want to go on this thrill ride, cancel your plans and grab this book!

First off, I think the prose got better in this one. There were still some homonyms, but not as many as I’d noted in the first two books, and I noticed a few nice turns of phrase. My big issue with this one is the plotting. Specifically, there’s an event that takes place that racks up the narrative tension significantly, but that issue is resolved in the span of a few chapters with no real payoff. I also think the main narrative tension kinda got lost in the middle muddle of the book.

But the ending was really good! If kinda sad…

Thank You A.J Humphreys and BookSirens

This is an Action Packed Thriller that kept my attention from being to end. It has suspenseful moments on both the human side and the monster side.

The main character's daughter was kidnap while on a class school trip. She has made it her life's mission to find her daughter by any means necessary. There are monsters that are kidnapping humans all the time during any part of the day and night.

The Queen Monster is feared by both Humans and her minions.

Is there a mother and child reunion?

First off let me say, I absolutely love that this author took the time to dedicate the beginning of this book to rehashing previous events. I truly wish more people did this. Reading this story as a stand-alone is doable, but I feel like I would have benefited starting in book 1. Overall, the storyline is not my typical go to and I prefer looking at a story from the inside out vs the outside in, but I did read the book entirely so that speaks for itself. I think others will appreciate this book more than I did. Te storyline is solid and the characters are likeable.

Arresting writing style and flowing prose frame this unique horror series. I had not read the first book but quickly caught the gist of what I had missed. Suspense, mystery, and non-stop action make this a winner!

Even though I haven't read book 1, the fact that the author makes an excellent summary of the first book at the begginig, that I don't even miss reading the first one.

I loved the author's writing.

This story captivated me from the first page, it's a story with the right dose of terror.
