While trying to rein in his delusional, hallucinating girlfriend, Jason must also solve a murder, and when all clues point to Lacy as his prime suspect, he'll go to lengths he never imagined to clear her name.
Vanessa Gray Bartal is primarily a foodie who began writing when she was unable to find people willing to pay her to eat. She believes everyone deserves a happily ever after and works hard to make it happen, even in a murder mystery.
She would love to hear from you. Check out her Facebook author page for upcoming new releases, and drop her a line while you're there!
I really don’t understand the motivation behind the killer. The relationship parts are fun, I thought I knew who did it and why, but the ending is out of left field and makes no sense at all. The explanation felt like a single sentence about mental illness was a sufficient explanation and I hope that’s explained in the next book. It definitely doesn’t explain “Bobby Fway”

Vanessa Gray Bartal's Wedding Day of Murder is the 6th of the Lacy Steele series, and I have been a fan of this series since the first one. So I guess, needless to say, I enjoyed this one as well. With the continued sibling rivalry between Lacy and her sister, not to mention between Lacy and her mother, its not surprising that Lacy wants nothing to do with Riley's wedding. But, of course, it is her duty as sister to throw the bridal shower and it better be everything her mother expects it to be. The problem is that Lacy has to get her wisdom teeth extracted, and she has a very odd reaction to the anesthesia. Despite Jason's best efforts to take care of her, she wanders off and then the search is on. But then it looks like in her delusional state she might have killed somebody, and Jason fights his need to be letter of the law and his love for Lacy. He discovers that he'll do anything, including working with his up-til-now hated Michael. The conflicts and loyalties, some misplaced, and Lacy's penchant for finding trouble make this latest an enjoyable read. There are multiple twists and turns and the plot is well developed with a somewhat unexpected ending, as well as few loose ends (Michael for one), to keep readers coming back.
With many mystery series, one of the questions that comes up is whether each is truly a stand-alone. You could probably read this one as a stand-alone, but you will be missing a lot of the history of the various characters, not only of Lacy and Jason, but of Lacy's college friends, the sibling rivalry, and just so much!
This has been a favorite series of mine. I was eagerly anticipating this next installment. I even reread the last two books in the series before I started this one. They were both as wonderful as I remembered and I couldn’t wait to get into this one. It was a slow dreary start . The mother was so unbelievably grating. Her insistence that Riley have a wedding when the woman was already married and pregnant was annoying. The fact that NO-ONE is willing to stand up to this waste of humanity was beyond obnoxious. I honestly had to put the book down every single time Frannie appeared on the scene. Then there was a bunch of silliness ( I think the intention was supposed to be humorous) with Lacy having hallucinations due to her pain meds. I didn’t find any of that nonsense funny , it was just cartoonish and silly. The idea that Lacy would be allowed to roam willy nilly around the hospital was stupid. They would restrain a patient for their own safety. The murder wasn’t interesting in the least, there was no real mystery to this story. In fact the reveal at the end was really disappointing. This book was a huge disappointment, I think the author has gone as far as she can with the characters and should just marry off Lacy and Jason and go for a happy ever after ending.
Lacy is forced into participating in her sister's wedding and having her wisdom teeth removed. Things are not right in her small town, she has enemies that will do anything to take her down. Nothing seems right when a reporter comes to town, asking questions about Lacy. When his dead body is found by Lacy, Jason has his hands full investigating a murder and keeping Lacy safe. Lacy is having side effects from the anesthesia, some one keeps taking her and she has no clue. Laugh out loud times until the anethesia wears off. Jason and Michael come to an understanding about Lacy but things are still unsettled with Lacy's mom. This is a fun story, with a quirky main character and solving the mystery.

This was a fun mystery with a surprise ending. I have read the first 5 Lacy Steel Mysteries and although it has been a while, I really did not recognize her in this story. That is probably more me than the author, yet seems something would have been familiar. I am not so thrilled with the Lacy character in this story. She's a little over-the-top weird and a bit too dependent on boyfriend, Jason. Well, she's a pretty young 20-something and I suppose has things to work out. It was an ok read and I will read the next in the series to see if she actually does work some things out.
I've not read anything else in the series, so don't know the author. I enjoyed this book, made me laugh out loud in a few places more at things people said than at things that happened. I thought some of the situations that were supposed to be funny were highly improbable and contrived just to push the story along. I also have to say I think it's cheating when the murderer turns out to be just plain, out your head crazy with no real signs of it before - bit like "then I woke up and found it was all a dream" from school essays.
So Riley, Lacy's sister, didn't marry the loser ex after all, but instead, married Josh, Lacy's best friend. Now they are pregnant and Lacy and Riley's mom is being the bridezilla mother of the bride as she forces everyone to go thru a formal wedding for Riley and Rev. Josh who had eloped to Vegas in an earlier book. And of course, there is another murder to solve. It's stress city for Lacy and friends as Mom makes life miserable for everyone. But read it. It's still good even when you want to help strangle the mother of the bride...
I thought maybe Lacy might be the one getting married, but it was her sister having a "proper" wedding to Tosh, even they are already married. But their mother insisted it be done properly. Meanwhile, Lacy has her wisdom teeth out and doesn't handle the medication very well and keeps wandering off. Jason keeps finding her, but in the end, we find out she was actually taken.
I love this series and this book just continues on with my enjoyment. I find myself laughing often and I love the conversations between Lacy and Jason. Lacy's mother is obnoxious and makes Riley look better, lol. I liked that some of the book was from Jason's perspective, that was refreshing. I loved this book and eagerly await the next.
Lackey and her family are so entertaining. Her relationship with Jason is fascinating, she being a accident prone slob and him a COD clean freak. In this book we get to see how everyone has grown, though the villain plot was weak and seemed hurried.
The last book in the series was a let down. The humour was good and the plot a bit whacky as usual but wit got a bit too far fetched and it finally lost all credibility when the suspect was unveiled.
This entire series are expertly written and have just the right amount of fantasy and reality. So refreshing to read a book that doesn't have foul language throughout. Excellent.
Lacey Steele mysteries is one of the best series I have read. If you have not read ease go to the first book and read them all so you too can love the characters, laugh at Lacey's attempts to run and the murders she gets involved in
Romance, humor and mystery. Lacy’s mother Frannie is such a downer, pill, diva; and Riley isn’t my favorite character either. But it is still a fun read.
