Wrong Girl #1

Wrong Girl

Rate this book
WARNING: I don't write about fairy tales and as much as I love Disney... I don't promise my readers or guarantee my characters a 'Happy Ever After...' Happy endings are harmonious but they're not always real life. I'm a sucker for bittersweet endings so please prepare yourself for one of them before purchasing one of my novels. Hearts and flowers won't be found in my writing and neither will perfect conclusions to my stories.

This book is the first in the 'Wrong Girl' series.

"You don’t think I know how messed up this is? You think I don't know how sick and twisted it is of me to want you? I know this is wrong. I know I shouldn't even be thinking about you in this way but that doesn't change the fact that I do! Samantha, I want you every second of every minute of every day and it’s killing me. I can't stay away from you anymore, I just can't do it. I need you and I know you feel the same way about me. We belong together and nothing you say or do is going to convince me otherwise. When I’m with her... I’m aching for you, I physically hurt because I can't be with you and I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do to make this right! The idea of never being able to have you is making me crazy. You're driving me insane and I'm seriously close to losing my mind if you tell me I can't have one more night with you. You’re not the wrong girl, Samantha, she is.” – Zack.

“There are roughly seven billion people in the world. Seven billion people and I’ve somehow managed to fall in love with the only person I can’t have. The only man on this earth who I can’t be with and who I should never, ever want. He’s my soul mate, my saviour and the only man I need. He’s also my sister’s fiancé.” - Samantha.

Samantha is 23 and broken. She’s always been the one and only disappointment within her superficial and judgemental family. Over the years she’s given up on the idea of pleasing them, the only one who’s ever treated her fairly is Rachel and that’s why she doesn’t mind when all of the praise and glory is bestowed upon her older and extremely beautiful sister. She has never envied Rachel before… until now.

Samantha feels something for her sister’s fiancé from the first moment that she sees him. He’s kind, gentle, unbelievably gorgeous and incredibly off-limits. She knows she shouldn’t want him but no matter what she does she can’t seem to get him out of her head. Of course all of the guilt and emotional torment that she’s dealing with is pointless because he doesn’t feel the same way about her… does he?

Zack doesn’t understand the indescribable, overwhelming connection that he feels to his fiancé’s younger sister. At first he convinces himself that he only feels sorry for her, he doesn’t understand why the family he’s marrying into treat her like an outcast. He’s determined to find out what happened to this girl to make her so introverted and distrustful but even Rachel advises him to leave well alone.

How long can Samantha and Zack deny what they’re feeling and stay away from one another? And will he still be there for her after he discovers her dark secret, one that she’s concealed for sixteen years?

Decisions must be made and hearts will inevitably be broken when Zack is forced to make his choice. He’s always believed his attraction for Samantha to be wrong and he has come to despise himself for wanting the wrong girl but what if his own fiancé might just be the wrong girl for him?

Wrong Girl is a story about forbidden love, envy, passion and heartache, a story about two people who fall in love in the very worst of circumstances.

Hi there, I'm 26 years old, I live in the UK and published my first book 'Always & Forever.' In 2014. I spent two years working on my first book and can't begin to count the hours I put in trying to figure out how to publish my first novel! 'Forever & Always' is the second and final instalment in the series.

'Wrong Girl' was originally supposed to be a standalone novel but I decided to make it part of a series and wrote 'Now It's Just Us' which is a short novella as well as 'Right Girl' which is the third and final instalment in the series.
(Due to high demand, I am currently working on an alternate ending to 'Right Girl' which will be released at some point in 2017)

'That Summer' (Part One & Two) are also available and deal with the highly controversial subject matter of two half-siblings who meet as young adults and fall in love.

Part One of 'The Secret' is available to download and part two will soon follow.

I've uploaded my darkest romance 'Monstrous Love' on Wattpad but have also published the complete novel on Amazon.

Part One of 'In Love with Lies' is also available on Amazon and you can read the first ten chapters on Wattpad. Part Two will soon follow and you will be able to buy the complete novel once part two has also been completed.

I am a hopeless romantic and love reading books within the New Adult genre. My own books tend to focus on the darker side of love, the side that comes along with crazy, obsessive, jealous and possessive heroes.

I really hope that you will enjoy reading my stories and will continue to check back here now and then to keep up to date with my progress.

I've read many o' books that include infidelity. But this one just made me want to puke. Not the little upchuck in the mouth. More like of the Exorcist variety. This whole review is spoiler-y so if you don't want to know, stop right now.

In Wrong Girl, the sister (Rachel) of the so-called h (Sam) and the disgusting JAG of a guy (Zach), the supposed H, are engaged. Rachel is beautiful, a nice person, yada yada yada. Rachel and Zach love each other. In fact, we get to read in Zach's head he loves Rachel and doesn't want to hurt her. So in walks Sam one day and BAM! He's in insta-lust over her. Almost to the point of stalking. He stops sleeping with Rachel, pursues Sam (while still engaged mind you), and just CAN'T get Sam out of his head. So... what does he do? He comes up with this plan that they should have one night and walk away. All the while both are saying how much they love Rachel. It just made me sick! The plotting and planning and then finally the doing... Of course, it didn't last one night. Of course not. Because they now LOVE each other. He no longer loves the woman of his dreams. No no no. He loves the sister now. And she loves him. And she's got a sob story that makes it ALL better that she's shitting on a person whom she supposedly loves. How long has this been going on? 4 weeks. FOUR WEEKS. One week for the instalust to seep in and three for all the sneaking, betraying, vial acts. So, within 1 week of meeting Sam, Zach could NOT stop obsessing over her, needing her, wanting her, so much so as to toss away a relationship with Rachel that he himself said that he was in love with. And ONE WEEK for Sam to toss aside the love of a sister whom she kept saying over and over again how much she loved and that she knew had loved her.

SPOILER

Zach gets drunk and sleeps with Rachel. Of course Sam gets upset... even though he's ENGAGED to Rachel. So, Rachel gets pregnant because she stopped taking the Pill. OH, that makes it all better now! NOW SHE'S EVIL. JUST LIKE THEIR MOTHER.

He is SO in love with Sam that he goes to Rachel to break off the engagement. She calls Sam to cry to, only she finds out while Sam is in transit that SHE is the reason Zach doesn't love her anymore.

So, now, the author makes Rachel a bit crazy. I guess we need to rationalize/justify the wretched sister not being able to keep her hormones and lusties at bay and to keep her legs closed off to her sister's man. If she were any kind of sister, she would have told Zach HELL NO when he first propositioned her and told her sister what kind of guy she was engaged to. But no.

I am not sure of the events that took place after I slammed my fist down onto my keyboard and pounded away in my fit of rage, which then in turn closed the window. I DID try to launch it again, thought better of it for my poor keyboard's sake, and just went to the last page. Seriously?!

From Wrong Girl - last page - "For twenty-three years I convinced myself I was the 'Wrong girl,' and you know what? Maybe I was when we first met. Maybe I should be persecuted for the rest of my life for falling in love with my sister's fiancé but that is not for anyone else to decide. No one has the right to pass judgment on the choices I have made or my mistakes. Right now I am his girl and that more than alright for me."

I hate these characters. I will never read anything by this author again. NO REMORSE, even at the end. OMG. How do I unread this????? I am having some serious WTFery.

This book really left me with a bad taste in my mouth! I really despised the two main leads and actually felt no empathy for them. I get that u can fall in love and not help it but ultimately u are in charge of your own morals, the heroine Sam knew it was wrong to sleep with her sisters fiancé but she still did it,Zack the male lead knew it was wrong too but what the hell it's only his fiance's little sister right?! What gets me is that the sister was the only one good to the heroine but she still continued sleeping with her fiancé and ignoring her guilt and then to top it off our hero is drunk and Lonely so he has sex with his fiancée and gets her pregnant. I normally root for my main couple but in this one I found them deplorable and their betrayal of someone they should have been loyal to just astounds me. I know Zack was to blame too but I feel Sam's behaviour and actions were worse because that was her sister. Love and loyalty for her sister should have overruled her lust/love for Zack I found her morally lacking and selfish in her actions I actually felt for her sister and she actually did good to get rid of two disloyal people like the main leads. What a horrible couple to have as main leads!

Oh god. I honestly feel so guilty for liking this book...

Lauren Crossley always does this to me... she writes super fucked up stories that I end up enjoying and then questioning my book morals!

So the story goes as follows... Samantha has had a super messed up childhood and past, she has dealt with things most teenagers should not. Her mother hates her and she loses her father who is her best-friend pretty much. She is the black sheep and can't compare to her perfect sister Rachel. She prefers to keep to herself and is quiet and shy. In comes her sisters fiance Zack, they have an instant connection and I'm sure you can guess what happen.. an affair blossoms.

Now Zack had his faults for sure, made lots of mistakes and royally screwed up a bunch of times. But he was also extremely swoon worthy, he was jealous, possessive, and extremely protective. And don't get me started on the dirty talk!

"That's right. It does. It belongs to me and the sooner you accept that the better it will be. No one else can make you feel this. No one else could do this to you and they're not going to. You're sealed to me, you're mine."

Obviously I've read books about affairs and things like that before, but its usually justified with a bitchy sister or something that makes it okay... but Rachel really wasn't a horrible person. A bit shallow, but for the most part she loved her sister, so this betrayal really was hard to read. Sam's guilt was palpable and she tried to fight her relationship and run away from things a lot but the two could not be separated. Its a shitty situation, and seeing two sisters go through that sucks, but ultimately love won?

Anyways there was so much drama, and constant twists and turns.

Lets just say I finished this in a day... wasn't doing much work at work :) I'm not going to dive into the second one straight away, I need a bit of a mental and emotional break.

Hits practically ALL my worst triggers:
- Hero engaged to her sister
- He loves AND adores his fiancée (to whom he proposed in the most beautifully romantic way EVER)
- Hero and ow have been together for a year
- He cheats on OW with h
- He sleeps with OW while he pursues the h
- Ow pregnant from H
- He sleeps with OW and the next night with the h
- Abused, downtrodden h who suffers from severe anxiety
- Their relationship is based on chemistry, not love and my first choice is always love, sappy ole romantic that I am
- She’s TOO weak and broken
Etc…etc…etc…

Has some of my fav scenarios:
- Alpha male
- Forbidden
- The idea of her brings him to his knees
- Their connection is immediate, raw and they’re utterly horrified at the idea of being attracted to each other
- He can't sleep, eat, has no peace, cannot EXIST without her
- Pursues her, fights for her, wants to demolish every single person and situation posing a threat to their union, makes the most irrational decisions because of the effect she has on him and agonises over her ALL. THE. TIME.
- His jealously and possessiveness is off the charts
- She’s etched into his “brain with permanent marker”
- He INVADES her life, her whole being – if she’s weak before she met him, she’s now decimated - as tormented as he is
- The intensity of their connection is exhausting
- He ALWAYS chooses her – no matter what the cost
- He NEVER leaves her

I shouldn't like this story. Has more of my "wrongs" than my "rights".
- Insta love - the whole book takes place within a period of 6 months only
- There's is no solid HEA although they are together at the end of the book
- So we don't get to see a glimpse into their further, whether they really do work or not
- They're not particularly likable or strong in character
- They're selfish and self-serving
- Their union probably won’t stand the test of time
- Once a cheater always a cheater

BUT....I'll read it again.....

Come check out the reviews on my blog Under The Cover

This book is seriously bad. I don't have a thing against the theme this book treats specifically. It's not one I enjoy particularly but once in a while, I'll give it a try. But Wrong Girl was just wrong.

I'll start with the writing. I wonder if the author is even English at this point. Between the typos, the grammar mistakes, the syntax and use of words that don't even exist in the English language, the simple act of reading was work. And even the way the characters talked and described their feelings, each other and even themselves was laughable until it became just annoying.

Then there's the build up...which is non-existent in this book. I was expecting a story about a guy who's in love with his girlfriend, to meet someone and gradually become attracted to her. What I got was a guy who's "in love" with his girlfriend but the moment he meets his girlfriend's sister he can't help but think about sleeping with her. I mean the guy hasn't even spoken to her and he already has a connection with her. I don't mind love/lust at first sight but this was just too much.

"My feelings for him are too powerful and terrifying."
...she says only 3% into the book.
Zach and Samantha's feelings for each other aren't at all believable.
There was no subtlety in their relationship at all. Actually, there was no subtlety in this book period.

"I've only known him half an hour and my emotions are already in turmoil."

And even in the event where the character and their feelings for each other actually felt real and believable, then, there was the fact that the characters decision making process was just wrong. I mean seriously! The guy can't stop thinking about sleeping with his sister-in-law to be, so what solution does he come up with to put a stop to it? Avoid her? Nope. Talk to her and tell her they have to be strong and resist? Nope. Ask her to sleep with him so he can get her out of his system in order for him to go on and marry the sister he's actually engaged to? Yep, you got it! I mean what else could he possibly do in this situation but actually sleep with his fiancée's sister? Really, that was his ONLY choice of course!

"I've felt guilty about it all day but we don't have a choice, we both know we need to do this...I realize we can't back out"

At this point I just hoped this was a joke because even though characters in books can do bad things and make bad decisions, I have never ever read a book where the characters saw logic in actually cheating on someone in order to make things better.

And then, there's the fact that not one, and I'm serious when I say not one single character in this book is likable. They feel fake, wrong, they make no sense at all and I just couldn't connect to any of them.

"I'm torn between what I know is right and my intense attraction towards him."

... Well, let's just say she wasn't "torn" for very long. Samantha was weak, annoying and with no loyalty to anyone. I mean, her sister is the only person in her family to care about her and what does she do to thank her? Well sleep with her husband to be of course! Zach was a horny jerk with no morals. Sam's mother was the incarnation of the Wicked Witch, and it goes on and on with the other characters in this book.

Everything about this book was wrong. I stopped at the 50% mark because reading about Zach and Sam having sex almost made me puke and I just couldn't keep on reading. I'm actually impressed I read so far into the story. It was excruciating to read this book. That's why I decided to cut my loses and stop wasting my time.

Author says she doesn't write pretty things and don't guarantee HEA in her books, because you know, that's not what happens in real life. A big round of applause for this disclaimer. But I have one of my own. I don't read books (romance/erotic and the kind) looking for real life. Wow!! Right!! In what world do I live? Like most know, a bunch of bullshit happens in real life. I know a few cheaters and people who were cheated on, I know liars, I know drug addicts, I know abandoned children, I know orphans, I know people who lost everything and the list goes on and on. So no. I don't want a book based mainly in "real life " because I want the fantasy. I want a couple of hours of relaxing and be sure of a happy ending. I don't want to read a book that the main plot is about deceiving. This book is about 2 sisters. One is engaged and her fiancée cheats on her with the sister. And the engaged sister is a nice one. So the reason for cheating is because of the strong connection between the cheaters. Now, I don't care you have/had a crap life (probably your sister did too ) so have a little dignity and respect and fight the attraction. Or at least make the guy end things with your sister. I don't condone cheating. There's zero explanation for it, but a huge lack of character and personality. (These info I got from a review).

this was a great book!

YES... it's... scandalous! but it's written VERY well, it's interesting, characters are FINALLY human (because i am sick and tired of reading about the "good" ones) & i honestly like the fact that this book made me feel uncomfortable at times... (i am a masochist though, so there is that). i personally have 0 issues with books and love stories that include cheating (no, i've never cheated on anyone) - i just don't see it as something tragic. it is painful, absolutely! but it's not even on my 100 Worst Things That Could Happen To Me list. so i wasn't bothered by that - BRAVO! for this author for putting it in the blurb & warning her readers about a subject that could potentially be triggering. that's VERY considerate and shows that the author has a huge amount of RESPECT for her readers.

here is the thing -- subject like this is really hard to write. why? because usually, for the sake of an interesting plot, the author needs to make at least one character a villain or unlikeable to some extent in order to make things dramatic OR to justify the happy end. i personally hate that - there are some awesome and good people out there who did nothing wrong and still got cheated on and dumped. it bloody happens. you can do it ALL just right, you can have a partner who is in love with you but BOOM!!!! kismet (fate) happens! some loves are just... destined. and i fee like this is what had happened in this one - the first relationship was good, there was love... it was okay... but then BOOM! fantastic came along.

and yes, the characters were wrong for not coming clean right away. but you know what? that is not bloody easy. i don't care what anyone says, it is not easy to come to someone you care for and tell them - hi, sorry! dumping you for your sister! that's why, in real life, situations like these are almost always messy. it simply takes time for people to get it together & to come clean. it's shitty, sure. but it can't get more realistic than that.

we all want honesty in theory but in practice...? that's actually really hard, ugly truths are hard. so this was, by all means, a very realistic story.

on things i didn't like...

other than that, the book was actually really good and talent is palpable. yes, i see a lot of potential and this author will only continue to improve the mistake she made in this book.

well done & keep it up!

This book makes you go through the gambit of emotions. This is not your usual love story where a man meets a woman and they have to navigate through a relationship. Samantha is a broken and messed up woman. She's 23 years old and has to live with terrible, heartbreaking memories that weigh her down. She has to live with guilt and shame every day of her life. She has a beautiful, intelligent, and accomplished older sister that she has had to live in the shadows of her whole life. She was never jealous but only loved and looked up to Rachel. She's the black sheep of the family with a mother that truly despises her and doesn't try to hide it at all. She's been betrayed so many times by her own family, the people that are supposed to love and protect her. The night she meets her sister's fiance is the first time she is jealous and wants what her sister has. He's gorgeous and she has this crazy draw to him that she cannot understand. Zack has always been in control, has always dated beautiful women, and his life has been about what he knows. He's been with Rachel for a year but when he meets her family and meets her sister, he cannot understand this unexplained draw he has for her. He has a fiance that most would desire but this feeling that Sam creates makes him somewhat crazy.

This is a story that deals with terrible things. But we cannot control who we love or are drawn to.

This book is definitely worth reading.

Wow. Lauren Crossley you brought the hard truth beautifully forth in your book. In as much as people hate the idea of cheating someone has to tell the story. And you did it wonderfully. Wow.

Emotional - drama filled story.

The wrong girl, if I am being honest is a whirlwind of WTF' s. It was interesting premise that I haven't read before. Ok so there where things I liked about the book and a lot that was just annoying & I admit I skimmed a few pages when it felt slow.

The 1st time Sam met her sister's fiance Zach she had a reaction that took her breath away. Zach saw.her as soon as she walked into the room and he lost his breath. There was no slow build up of feelings nor slow build up attraction, it was instantaneous. I liked how Zach was so up front about what he wanted from Sam.

Sam now she is a character you eithergoing tolike or your don't. I didn't get the whole broken thing. I think because it was over played in terms of what happen to her. REALLY has anything not happen to her? I felt her burdens were over played. Rachel her sister is who I really liked until the very end .

This will definitely keep you hoping from 1 sister to another in terms of who Zach should end up with.

There is so much wrong about this book; none of which, by the way, is to do with the actual subject matter. I don't give a hoot about the morality of it all, it's fiction. But please, try dear author to spell check, use correct the syntax, grammar, etc. And if you want the reader to give a shit at least allow some small redeeming qualities to filter through the kaka that is your characterisation. Otherwise what is the point?

4.5 review. I love Zach, Audrey and Samantha

Lots of emotions ran through me I experienced the loss of my baby but I at least had time with her, I felt for Samantha on that. I truly enjoyed this book and will read more from this author. #readreadread

This is all kinds of wrong! I love reading about dysfunctional relationships and all, but this is just so messed up. The start is wrong, the characterization is wrong, even the sex feels so controlled. Just not to my liking.

I fell in love with her and Zack WOW and am still reeling from how things turned out. I don't really know how I am feeling about this book and am a bit lost because of it but I do not regret reading

Well...this was a roller coaster! Lots of back and forth. Sam was a really great character at times, but for the most part she was extremely annoying to me.
