Regardless of whether you already work as a trainer, or if you are about to undertake your first training job, or if you are simply curious and wonder if the profession is the right choice for you, this book is a very good introduction to and explanation of the role, both in theory and in practice.

It covers educational theory and all stages of the training development lifecycle, before covering assessment and evaluation, plus gives some very practical guidance for readers undertaking the qualification on how to prepare for the microteach, which is the final part of the qualification.

The book is listed as being appropriate for teachers as well as trainers, but not being a teacher, I can't really comment on that here.

It has been written to be the course book for the qualification of the same name, but is very readable in its own right. I have been a trainer for 18 years, and I learned some new tips and tricks for it which I can use in my classroom and online courses.

For an educational book, it is very readable and is not especially complex to follow. It is clearly laid out and logically structured, with each topic building upon the next, which means that you can easily use it both as a reference book (handy when completing the coursework for the qualification) and also read it from cover-to-cover as a casual reader.
