"Selfish" is the debut Children's book of poetry from author/illustrator Drew Bialko. Each poem reads like a funny tale, sometimes cautionary, sometimes just plain silly, and accompanied by beautiful illustrations that are as creative as the poems themselves.
I thought that the author wrote some great poems for kids that will get them laughing. He mixed humor with words that will increase their vocabulary, and it is important for kids to learn while laughing and having fun!!
The author used humor that a child would understand and that is something that you do not see very much anymore. Usually, the jokes have an underlying meaning that kids do not understand, and that was not the case in this book.
I am giving this book to my 7 year old daughter because I know that she will love it!!
Slefish made me laugh out loud! The poems and illustrations are very good. Favorite poems include The Doodler, Easter Funny, Benjamin Bart and Dirty Bird (yes, I like poo humor). I will be sharing Selfish with the little ones in my life. My mom teaches early intervention preschool and I will let her borrow Selfish to read to her students. I received the Selfish for free through Goodreads First Reads.
A book filled with poems that you will want read to your kids over and over again! The illustrations are amazing and truly capture the magic of the book. It's a must have for children and those who are young at heart.
A wonderful Children's book! I laughed out loud several times reading the great poetry inside this book. The illustrations are all done digitally and are beautifully done by author Drew Bialko. A perfect children's masterpiece!
