The Stone and the Shadow is a series of twelve volumes. It is the fable of Stone, who finds himself in the quest for several answers at a time that demands more insight than he can engender. Like many others, he thought his quest would end when he did find his answers; strangely, that was when the quest really began. His journey continues as he meets several magical personalities that accompany him as he stumbles across complicated hurdles and unexpected rewards in a strange land, where the laws of physics act peculiarly at every step. Stone's chief mentor in this maze of exhilarating experiences is a youthful angelic-being by the name of Star who steers him wisely and wittily through a potentially disturbing string of incidences, as they inch closer to the titillating goal of their quest. The story of this quest is dedicated to the wisdom and peace that lies within each one of us.
Creativity of the author of saying the story with the help of stone and star was good. Author shows that anybody can achieve if one believe in oneself. But there are many instances where i was not able to understand the story. Overall it was a goodread... :)
Good book, gives an insightful message. I loved the illustrations. However the story is not captivating and I didn't understand certain things in the book.
Very brilliant and intelligent book for children and young adults. The more inspired you are within, the less the circumstance is likely to traumatize or fragment you. Well said Dr.Shradhdha Shah.Your language is superb. You have crafted this fable to enlighten us on life's pains ,energy and consciousness.
We have all the MAGIC in us to live our life with peace of mind, success and happiness. This book carries this strong message.
When I started reading the book, I believed it was going to be a great read. Then when I got halfway through the book I found numerous flaws(in my opinion) that the author had committed. A book(fiction at least) is supposed to keep the reader engaging and I believe the author failed here. There were many things about the book that I loved, but the flaws outnumbered them. Personification was not at its best and characters absolutely cannot be related to. Even from someone who loves fantasy, I believe that the book would have been great if there had been no fantastical elements. The author was determined to deliver as many details as possible in her book. What I believe is that the author had started striking nails and she was so intently focused on the number of nails she struck that she failed to see whether the nails were driven home.
A definition of a good book differs from reader to reader. Maybe some will like the book, but it failed to satisfy me.
To be honest, I didn't finish reading the book. When I received the book (as a giveaway win from Goodreads, thanks!) I was like, wow this is such a cute book! The cover too, was super cute, albeit a bit childish (in a good way).
The lines, "Star: "The fundamental question is, do you believe in magic?" Stone: "Where is this magic?"" and the follow up at the end piqued my interest.
Though the story itself couldn't hold my attention. Reading the story, I remembered the line from The Fault In Our Stars, "My thoughts are stars I can't fathom into constellations." That's how I felt while reading this book. I couldn't understand bits and pieces of the story.
I don't know whether it was the story, or whether it just wasn't my type of book, but I couldn't get into it. I'll pass it on to my friends and maybe one of them will find it upto their expectations. I'm not rating this book because I think I don't have the right to do so, considering I didn't read the whole thing. I'm gonna mark it 'read' anyway, because I did read 75% of the book before giving up.
