Set in Glasgow, Elizabeth Roddick, an NHS award-winning pharmacist, gives a very personal account of her life in and out of her community pharmacy. Starting with her father’s struggle as a chemist in 1938, she details the rich, humorous and sometimes poignant stories of the interaction with her patients and customers. The development of pharmacy services over the 30 year period is illustrated as well as demonstrating her holistic approach to health within her pharmacy and in the public speaking arena.
You know how there is supposed to be a book inside everyone. Well working in my pharmacy for 30 years I had to tell my story. (Inside and outside the pharmacy)
This book caught my eye since I am a pharmacist. I was hoping it would be a bit like “Call the Midwife,” but it was a pretty dry read. The paragraphs would jump from topic to topic with nothing to connect them. Chapters ended abruptly with just 1 or 2 sentences.
I was with this one right up until the closing anecdote. At which point I lost significant trust in the author. Interesting but ultimately disappointing
This book exposes the dark and sinister underbelly of the pharmacy world! Be careful where you tread! Big Pharma is coming for you! No, not really. It's a compilation of amusing anecdotes that the author has amassed over the decades working as a pharmacist.
