While a good introduction to the wild cats of North America, it was a bit too long and detailed for the short attention span of my 5-year-old. She loved the photographs though. It would probably make a good read for an older kid interested in these fascinating predators.
Children's nonfiction is such a great place to look for simple, straight forward facts on a particular topic. Cougars, native to many states in the U.S, are fairly abundant in Colorado. This little book is a great start when learning about this beautiful, although dangerous, animal.
