A sanitized, white-bread version of North Carolina history. Much was covered, but oh so much was left out. The final chapter "Chronicles of Leadership" was a Chamber of Commerce-stlye jingoistic rah rah. There were a few punches at organized labor through touting "open shops." I was disappointed.
Sitting in a coffee shop in Raleigh, wanting to learn about NC, i picked this book up.
It is a whitewashed Chamber of Commerce look at the history of the state. I'm not sure if that is due to the era of publication or if part of a series, but it didn't teach me much.
