David Drake is an American author of science fiction and fantasy literature. A Vietnam War veteran who has worked as a lawyer, he is now one of the major authors of the military science fiction genre.
This is a novel and it was the least interesting of the ones read so far. In the anthologies, if there were several stories with characters that did not appeal to me I could look forward to at least a few with characters I was following from book one. This book fit in the series, quality and story were equal to any of the previous books but it was just not for me. It had no characters that could hold me to the story. It has stopped me in my tracks and I am unlikely to buy the next five books in the series...a pity but that is the way it works for me...the last story in the previous book left me wanting more and I would have bought the next hoping for more. Now I am afraid it will be a repeat of this disappointment.
Wie Morris und Drake hier die Hölle skizzieren ist wirklich interessant und witzig. Es ist definitiv keine Komödie, aber an sich nimmt sich das Buch nicht ganz ernst. Definitiv ein Höllenritt.
