The U.S. president has decided to turn an international conference on human rights into the scene of his greatest triumph--but instead is taken hostage by a group prepared to kill for world peace. Paul Waters, an intelligence agent assigned to protect the president, joins forces with his lover, Kate Dinneson, to foil the plans of the extremist group and rescue American's leader. But can they stop the fanatics in time? And did the president plan his own kidnapping?
I had gotten a bunch of books at a charity sale this February. I opened this with anticipation during the weekend. Brand new book, 1997, never opened. Got to page 5--oh, this is a sequel to his Deceptions, which I could not read. So, this is joining that first book at our Goodwill.
This is a specific genre within thrillers--I just could not get into it. Superfluous violence which detracts from the author's writing talent.
I did not read this one, it was discarded. Compare it to Andrea Bocelli doing Waylon Jennings covers at a strip club near Ft. Gordon in the 1970s.
And this' with the knowledge that it is really hard to write books that are readable and people want to invest their time in reading. Weaver had that talent. Perhaps he was following his own path and sticking to a style that meant a lot to him rather than looking for profit.
The book has immense suspense with very good twists and turns in the plot. Absolutely loved the way Mr. Weaver brought the characters to my imaginary world. The script made me so glued to the book that I couldn't leave it in the initial week's time. Would've completed it soon had I not lost my first copy, unfortunately :(
It is one of those books that one can enjoy if he/she is a mystery lover.
