Rogue: The Streets of Caltania

Rate this book
Fifteen years after the trial that brought Artamos into the Black Knight Society, a young woman named Rogue entangles her fate with the now missing Princess of Cromania, the daughter of Leona De Santis, the Queen of Cromania.

Rogue has a problem. She just does not belong on the dirty crime ridden streets of Caltania where secrets abound and backstabbing is the norm. Her moral compass always points away from the seedy nature of the streets, and yet that is the only life she knows. But when her dearest friend and mentor springs a life altering surprise on her, Rogue sets out to discover her missing memories, memories that span nearly fifteen years, and leads her on a quest of self-discovery. A quest to escape the streets of Caltania and the only life she has known for nearly five years.

Hello,

I'm Matt Hall, Fantasy and Adventure author. I've had a life of varied experiences that have included everything from designing electrical circuits to saving lives. And I hope to share many of my experiences with you through my fantasy adventure stories.

I first learned about fantasy adventure stories from my seventh grade teacher when she offered me a copy of J.R.R.Tolkien's The Hobbit. I devoured that book as well as The Lord of The Rings and countless other King Arthur stories. It wasn't until I encountered R.A.Salvatore's writing that I began to take a greater interest in story telling, or rather story entertainment.

And really that is my goal, to entertain you with stories that you enjoy. That's why I would like to direct you once again to the Connect With M.L.Hall tab on my website www.mlhallbooks.com. It's so important to me that we work on these books together. I'd like to hear your ideas and thoughts on where you would like to see my books go.

Perhaps we may even find we have other interests we can share. Like most writers, and for that matter, people surfing the web, I have varied interests. My wife and I enjoy gardening together, camping, and fishing.

One of my favorite past times is archery. I'm infatuated with primitive devices and have made countless longbows, some of which even shoot! There is something magical about watching the flight of an arrow.

Anyhow, check out my website, view the book samples, and send me an email, strike up a conversation.

Sincerely,

M.L.Hall

Rogue: The Streets of Caltania is an action, fantasy book written by M. L. Hall. It uses a medieval setting with a hint of magic to explore the way a princess refusing to accept a betrothal affects a city.

The primary main character in the book is Rogue although characters from M. L. Hall’s previous book appear as well as new ones. Rogue is a very unmotivated pickpocket stuck in a city where she has to do the bidding of her mob boss to survive. She struggles with who she is partially because she cannot remember most of her life, but also because she is forced into circumstances she cannot change, and she is not in the habit of making the best of things.

With three mobs vying for control of the city, it is hard to know who to trust. Although Rogue remains loyal to her own mob boss, his grip on things seems to be weakening. Rogue fights because she must, but she only wants to find out who she is. Her first clue to her past comes when she visits a soothsayer. She is told she must find a woman who looks like the missing princess and travel to another land to discover her past.

I enjoyed reading Rogue: The Streets of Caltania because of the detailed and believable action scenes and the intrigue throughout it. The descriptions are realistic and well done. You won’t find blood and guts, and the writing works well for Young Adults. It only received four stars from me because I wanted to feel more resolution at the end. I am looking forward to a sequel that will take care of that, though.

This is the sequel to the author's book The Apprentice. It takes place some 15 years later and like the previous book is full of action and adventure as well as self-discovery. The characters are well developed and interesting. My favorite is Timmo, he reminds me of Gambit from the X-Men comic series. The story well developed and moves along at a decent pace. Waiting on the next installment to see how this is all going to end.
