How do you live with the gut clenching truth that the one you love will die if you meet them? Twenty year old sorcerer Scott Tabors is learning how. After seeing seventeen year old Olivia Whitehead outside of a coffee shop, his heart will never be the same. He longs for her, he wants her, and he knows she will be his. They are heart mates. …but due to a curse on his family, he can’t meet her. Not yet. So for now, he visits her in her dreams. Her dreams where he can tell her everything but his name.
Olivia Whitehead is a typical junior in high school. She and her best friend are having the time of their lives, but she can’t help but notice the changes happening to her. Especially the changes in her heart after she begins dreaming about a mysterious dark haired young man. But what will happen when the school heartthrob decides he wants Olivia? Will she realize the dream man is real or will she move on?
USA Today Bestselling author Felicia Tatum was born and raised in Tennessee. She always loved reading, and at the age of twelve began writing. Her passion for creating stories grew and in May 2012, she finally wrote her first novel, The White Aura.
She still lives in Tennessee with her daughter and her kitty. She loves cooking, books, and animals are some of her best friends. She watches a lot of Disney channel and often dreams up new book ideas. She's currently working on various projects. She's the author of the White Aura series, Scarred Hearts series, and Intoxicating Passion series.
So, this book is bad. At least it was free, so I don't have to fight anyone to get my $$ back. Every page presents a fresh opportunity for another eyeroll. I think I strained my optic nerves, I rolled mine so much.
Notable problems:
1. Rapid-fire POV switching. POV switches after each skimpy chapter (seriously, they're like 3 pages long), to the point of getting mental whiplash.
2. And the chapters themselves are BORING. The author creates an entire scene just to show something that really deserves perhaps a paragraph of narration or a throwaway comment by a character to describe... like when Scott treats us to almost a page of description of his study room at the library-- what it's like, why he chose it, etc.-- and then, so as to not miss a SINGLE RIVETING MOMENT, carefully details how he ensured the room was tidy before he left.
Don't believe me? Here, have a taste of the heroine telling us her beauty routine, and complimenting herself for being a hottie:
3. The exposition is inept and poorly-timed, in the scope of the book-- the author reveals all the "interesting" bits in the first few pages instead of revealing things as we go, thus doing us the favor of sparing us the effort of enjoying any pesky suspense or annoying romantic tension by eliminating it entirely.
4. Poor grammar, with sentence fragments and other irritations. Example: "She had even fought vampires and won. Something unheard of in our community." Ugh. Choppy fragments are choppy.
4. Falsely-modest Mary Sue main character. Among her defects are: being slim, having jewel-like green eyes instead of the more desirable, but biologically impossible purple, and the complaint that her parents think she's beautiful. Also, the major hot jock of the school TOTALLY loves her, because of course he does, and naturally she's the only girl in school immune to his myriad charms.
Her sole personality flaw is that she's chronically late in waking and getting ready in the morning... seriously, that's it. ACTUAL flaws like being an insulting, tactless jerk in rejecting an unwanted advance from the hot jock are brushed off with "I couldn't be anything but blunt, no matter how hard I tried." Really? You can't manage to say, "Thank you for asking me, but I'm not interested"? Ugh.
5. The male protag is boring, too-- he's uber-super-powerful and has every sorcerer power EVAR, you guys! Yawn. He's also way too schmoopy.
6. Thin, trying-too-hard premises to justify the plot. The reason the male protag is so speshul is contrived, and the reason he can't be together with the female protag until a certain date is even more ridiculous.
7. A staggering amount of exhausted clichés. Among them are "having curves in all the right places" (just once, I want to read about a character having curves in the all the WRONG places. It would at least be amusing) (picture it), and "Black best friend".
I couldn't make it past page 65. YES, you're reading this right, all these issues are present before the story is even 1/3 over. I skipped ahead a bit, just to see if the rest is as much of a disaster. Yep. The heroine calls the hero "Mr. Sexy" AND HE ANSWERS TO IT.
This book automatically lost one star for the "Mr. Sexy" shenanigans. It is absolutely not acceptable to have your main character refer to the love interest as Mr. Sexy. Especially not when she's totally serious. And definitely not for the duration of the whole novel.
This book had issues. The plot was fabulous, the plot twists were fine, the concept was great. The execution was poor. Very little world-building in regards to the sorcerer concept. There's a governing body mentioned - what are the rules governing their world? How many sorcerers are there exactly? If they only have designated powers that Scott lists at the beginning of the book then how is he making stuff materialize in Livvie's room? Do they have additional powers?
The ending was weird.
There was definite insta-love and the makeout scenes were described in too much detail. I really didn't need to know the progression of tongue-sucking and body repositioning during the makeout scenes but some readers dig that and I can easily skim it so I'll let that bit slide.
Ultimately, I think converting the POV to 1st or 3rd person perspective of Olivia with the exclusion of Scott would have eliminated a lot of the issues. Having her slowly build information and draw conclusions without directly telling the reader what is going on would have built better suspense. A good wrap-up at the end with a fight scene information dump would have worked and the insta-love could have been muted a bit if Olivia had been depicted as trying to figure out who Scott is and why she should trust him over Aiden. If Tatum rewrote this just tweaking the POV I bet it could have been a 4 star book, easy.
This one gets 3 stars only because for majority of the book it kept me intrigued. I needed to know what was going to happen & the why of it all. Even though it had its moments of complete cheese fest/stilted/choppy, dialogue. But when it was time for the answers & climax to come about, it fell apart completely.
Misplaced emotions during life or death situations. The main reason why Scott stayed away, being completely disregarded, only to be brought up again as a weak cliffhanger at the end of the story. Olivia still being able to do the one thing she was NOT supposed to do until 6 months later. And the "Climax" if you can call it that, at towards the end of the book.
What started out as a great mysterious, intense tale of danger & forbidden love, ended up becoming something that seriously felt like someone in middle school wrote.
But this book had enough to make me wonder & hope that book 2 is better on what was lacking here. So for now, I will just chock this up to what I like to call "1st book Syndrome" Book 2 will determine if I continue with this series or not.
His family of sorcerers was cursed in love long ago and must resist the pull to their heartmate or risk their death if they met too soon, but Scott could walk in dreams and there he could spend time with Olivia. Olivia believed these dreams to be just that, vivid, romantic dreams.
A seventeen-year-old high school student, Olivia has also caught the attention of the school jock, but is he merely human competition or is there something more sinister in his attentions? Fearing he will lose Olivia, Scott knows he must find a way to break the ancient curse, but he had no idea there would be so much more behind Aiden’s attentions. Will Scott find a way to break the curse and keep Olivia alive? Will he be able to protect her from evil or will he discover there is more to Olivia than meets the eye?
Felicia Tatum’s THE WHITE AURA is told through dual POVs, chapter to chapter as we see the plot unfold through both Olivia’s eyes and Scott’s. I loved the synopsis, nothing like a good fantasy tale filled with secrets, young romance and danger. It was in the execution that I was pulled out of the story. Olivia’s family life is so shrouded and flat, her parents felt like cardboard entities. Olivia, herself seemed like a very young teen, hardly ready for eternal love. It was even difficult to imagine that Scott was a college student. Then, BAM, the descriptives of the scenes and their impressions of each other bordered on adult romance…almost as if square pegs were being forced into round holes. Suddenly a tale that at first, I thought I could give to a thirteen-year-old became something only a much older teen should read. Call me old-fashioned…
Too much attention to details that didn't forward the story, too many pieces missing that seemed could have been helpful. Fabulous supporting characters, very alive and often fun to follow really saved this one for me.

2.5* Meh! I don't know about this one, it was dull for all I know, so predictable, nothing that could make the story a page turner. But I'm really curious to know the rest.
Magic isn't always what you think it is. The love story between Scott and Olivia is one that will keep you reading until the last page. Between learning the secrets of Scott to realizing that Olivia has secrets of her own, you won't put down the book. Scott is one of those male characters that will make you fall in love with him as you go with him on his journey to meet Olivia. Olivia is your typical high school female but with major secrets that she doesn't even know about. She's funny, silly, and just the right girl for Scott. Along the way you will meet other characters that will leave you with surprises as well but none as big as the one about Olivia. To find out all the secrets pick up the book and immerse yourself into a world of the unknown.
Olivia "Livvie" Whitehead sees a guy in her subconsciousness. He fills up her dreams every night, she even calls him Mr. Sexy. Little does she know that he's someone named Scott, a sorcerer who's just around the corner, lurking, admiring, loving from afar. But they can't see each other, they can't meet outside their dreams. That is how things should be between them.
Scott and Livvie - they're definitely destined to be together even though the odds are against them. One is doomed to die when the other one starts to fall in love.
Ah, the tragedy.. I'm sure William Shakespeare is smiling from his grave with this kind of storyline. But worry not, something's brewing and I know for sure, in the end, these two lovebirds will find a way to be together - alive and in-love.
This book is intense, that's why I can't wait to read the next book! White Aura is a great read and Felicia Tatum is a brilliant author, no wonder I always get hooked in her stories!
I love how Felicia writes this book from 2 point of views. Olivia is a young girl who is in HS and has these dreams at night that are with this Hot and Steamy fellow that she has never met, but yet the dreams feel so real, Than we meet Scott who is a young Sorceror who is Heart mates with Olivia and is dream walking, trying to not spill the secret that he is real and he has to stay away from her until her Half Birthday or she will Die before her next birthday. The thing is…. Olivia doesnt know who she is or who Scott is or what is about to happen…I love how Felicia moves between the 2 POV’s and you never get confused on who is who. It takes a talented writer to pull that off. She has taken us on a fun journey through the lives of these teens as they discover who they are and that people are not always who you think they are..
This was an enjoyable read. The story was great and the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat. Also, the characters were awesome. I really liked Scott and Olivia. The romance aspect was also very sweet, and I loved it more because it was paranormal, fantasy romance. I thought the end was great and made me want to read the sequel. I can’t wait to read it. Overall, a great read.

The book The White Aura is about a girl who has a very sexy man visit her dreams, yet she doesn’t know who he is. She has a great group of friends but her parents are a little distant. There is a guy in school, who happens to be popular, whom begins to pay her more attention than he ever has. She has no idea what she is in for…until it’s too late.
Felicia Tatum was born and raised in Tennessee. She began writing at a young age, and finally pursued her passion this past year. The White Aura is her first published novel. She is the mommy to a daughter and a kitty. She enjoys reading and crafting in her free time.
This book promises a very alluring tale of love between different realms. It delivers. There is nothing more capturing than a tale of two lovers who can’t be together except in their dreams. Who can’t touch, feel, or hear each other in the flesh.
I have to say the only pitfall I found in this book is that Olivia seemed to be all over the place in her thoughts vs. her actions. She is supposed to be falling in love with this mystery man from her dream yet, she is also chasing and getting butterflies over this guy at school. But, then again, she is a 17 year old girl. I guess her thoughts are supposed to be all over the map. But I really want Olivia to be a strong character in this series, but I feel that if the absent-mindedness continues, her place as the main character is going to fall short.
There are many reasons to read this book. The tale is epic. To feel a love so profound over such a long distance is hard to stomach. No wonder poor Scott was going out of his mind! The writing was fantastic. I really liked the two different POV (points of view) story telling between Olivia and Scott. The story itself is wonderful. I have to say that it is hard for me to say that. Many plots are so overdone anymore and it’s hard to get into them, but not this one. What a wonderful idea about sorcerers and witches!
I can say that this is a little different YA category than I am used to. Typically when you think of YA, you think vampires, witches, and the such. But sorcerers? What a treasure trove of ideas and spin-off you have created for yourself Felicia!
This book, even though was free for review, is worth every penny spent. The cover art is phenomenal. The editing is great and the writing even better. This was a very quick read and the cliffhanger has you wanting more. I am so glad there is a second book already out. I don’t know if I could wait to find out what happens.
Amazing. Phenomenal. Addicting. THE WHITE AURA SERIES by Felicia Tatum is a MUST, especially if you’re a fan of YA Paranormal Romances! With twists and turns that had me guessing what would happen next, these books were true page turners. I was hooked from the very beginning and they held my attention all the way through.
Felicia Tatum developed fantastic characters that were easy to understand and relate to. Her writing style was, to me, impeccable. The main reason I loved it so much was because it allowed me to see everything through the characters’ eyes. Aside from the books having different POVs, the amount of details provided created an über clear picture of the scenes unfolding, and yet, they weren’t wordy, which is something I hate in books. Honestly, this series felt balanced – another huge PLUS! The books had a bit of everything: passion, drama, suspense, and of course, paranormal aspects, without going over-board or over-doing it.
“…the moment I saw Livvie, everything changed.”
Scott’s family had been cursed many, MANY years ago. If they met their heartmate before they (the heartmate) were 17 years and 6 months old, they would die the moment they turned 18. And that’s where the problem started. You see, Scott met Olivia (Livvie) when she was 16-ish, only she didn’t know him. The moment he laid eyes on her, he knew she was his soulmate. He knew she was meant for him. Being a 5th generation sorcerer meant he had a few great powers, thought, one which included dream-walking. So he began visiting Livvie in her dreams, waiting for the day she could meet him in real life and fall in love with him.
Thinking she was going insane, Livvie didn’t tell anyone, not even her best friend, about Mr. Sexy, the boy she’d been dreaming about for the past year. Now 17 years old, Livvie was experiencing things that were making Scott’s “waiting plan” a whole lot more difficult. She was no longer safe.
Waiting plan ABORTED.
They met.
Before Livvie was 18.
A LOT happened to Scott and Olivia. A LOT. Upon meeting, now it was a battle – in more ways than one – not only against the curse, but other enemies. Like I mentioned before, Felicia Tatum delivered twists, turns, and many surprises which you have to experience for yourself, so I won’t go into any of the details. But know this – the buildup was amazing! I seriously enjoyed this series from beginning to end and I cannot wait to read Sadie’s book: SCORNFUL SADIE!
FIVE STARS to The White Aura, The Vessel, Devlin’s Descendant, and Unbound Destinies!
White Aura is the story of 17 year old Olivia Whitehead, 20 year old sorcerer Scott Tabors, and a family curse. It is a magical story with danger, intrigue, romance, and suspense. It’s the first book in the White Aura series and although it took me a while to connect with the story I really enjoyed it once I did.
At first, Olivia “Livvie” really got on my nerves. She was contradictory, one second she was okay with her looks and the next she wasn’t, but if we are being honest here most of us are that way we just don’t put it in writing. She also overused the phrase “Mr. Sexy”. I was thrilled when she finally learned Scott’s name! Towards the middle of the book I started to connect with Olivia and by the end I respected her and was proud of the strong character that she developed into.
Scott. Oh, Scott. I loved him from the start. Sexy sorcerer who loves his grandmother, has manners, is faithful and true. What’s not to love!!!
I also enjoyed the antagonist, The Crimson Calamitous, or as Olivia likes to call him the “Red Calamari”. I admit to giggling a couple of times at that name. Anyways, he is the bad guy that you love to hate.
There were a few spelling errors but nothing major. Actually, one that I thought might be a spelling error wasn't. Scott can psychically spy on Livvie and does so on occasion. Don’t judge, he has his reasons. In the book this action is written as espy. I couldn't figure out if it was a spelling error or if it was a magical word the author made up so I emailed her to ask. Color me surprised and embarrassed when she responded back with a laugh and said it was an actual word that means to catch sight of something. Duh! Lesson learned! Next time I question a word I will look it up.
I will definitely be continuing this series. I have book 2, The Vessel and book 3, Devlin’s Descendant and can’t wait to find out how Livvie and Scott will be affected by the family curse.
The White Aura by Felicia Tatum is book 1 in The White Aura Series and it’s a fantastic book. I knew right away when I read the blurb that I was going to love and enjoy reading it. It has an awesome story line with great characters. It really had my attention from the beginning.
Olivia Whitehead is a seventeen year old high school girl. She is a normal teenager who loves to have fun and hanging out with her best friend Juniper. Life is going great! Olivia has a secret that even her best friend Juniper doesn’t know about. Just recently she has been having these dreams of this handsome young man who she hasn’t ever seen before. She doesn’t know his name so she calls him Mr. Sexy. Olivia is not sure if this young man is for real or not but they have some kind of connection and attraction for each other. Will Olivia ever find out and meet who this Mr. Sexy is?
Mr. Sexy is a twenty year old young man. He has special abilities and is the guy in Olivia’s dreams. The first time that he saw her in person, he knew that he wanted her and that she is the one but due to something that happened in his family’s past he is not able to meet her yet so he visits Olivia in her dreams. What could it be that is keeping them from meeting each other?
This is where Olivia’s and Mr. Sexy’s journey begins and they will go through a lot together. Through out their journey, Olivia will find out a lot of things about herself, what is happening to her and who Mr. Sexy is. Something happens to Olivia and her friends, will Mr. Sexy be able to save them in time?
Throughout the book, I felt Olivia’s emotions of what is going on in her life, the changes that she sees in herself and also I felt the feelings that Mr. Sexy has for her.
Felicia Tatum has done a wonderful job writing The White Aura. It is a must read and I definitely recommend my friends to check this book out. I am now reading The Vessel, book two in The White Aura Series and it is an awesome book too.
I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review (Lover of Paranormal Group on Goodreads). I love the concept behind this novel—boy sees girl but can’t be with her, very Romeo and Juliet, but I’m afraid the execution fell a bit short for me. I realize this is paranormal fiction, and as Samuel Coleridge said the reader must willingly suspend disbelief; however, I found some of the events and explanations unacceptable. Parts of the family heritage were explained thoroughly while other things that I thought were important were hardly touched. For instance, the council was explained in great detail though we never encounter them in this novel, but the fact that 5000-year-old Anna just now has a family though her heart mate is never mentioned is odd. Also, when Delana is mentioned, I really thought she’d be a big part of the story, but that whole thing kind of goes away. Some of the actions and the dialogue seemed awkward and stilted. At times, the characters sounded like teenagers, but other times, not so much. I needed more foreshadowing on some events, too. Olivia’s power and the whole aura thing just pop up and seem to come from nowhere. In all fairness, however, this is a series, so I have a feeling some of my issues are addressed in later volumes, but frustration may keep readers from continuing the series. There are some positives. It’s a quick read. I finished it in a few hours, and it has some steamy dream sequences which don’t go too far (or far enough depending on your perspective), so teens will love it. Scott seems completely sweet and devoted—perhaps too sweet—if you can get past Olivia calling him “Mr. Sexy,” which, for some reason, made me cringe every time she used it. 3 Stars
The White Aura Felicia Tatum Review I loved these books and her. I am looking forward to seeing more from her. Review Time: In the White Aura, you meet Olivia. Olivia is one of the main characters in the series. Olivia is not anything normal. She has dark red curly/ wavy hair and green eyes. Olivia is your typical teenager in High School in the beginning of the book. She goes from hanging with her best friend Juniper all the time at sleepovers to hanging out with her new friends that all seem to be like her. Olivia goes from a shy teenager that has no problems in the world to a very unique girl that can face anything that the world has to throw at her. Olivia is introduced completely different than what she is in the end of the book. One thing is, she finally gets to have somebody that cares about her. She always wanted just that. Her parents were here and there and really didn’t serve any purpose to her life other than to give her a ‘real’ teen feel in the first book. She can be special and be a normal teen too. I like that feel and I can really relate to it as a ‘younger’ reader. I had my ups and downs in the book. At the end I wanted to cry. Then I realized that I have the next book downstairs and all that I needed to do was go grab it. Boy that was a lifesaver for my house because I am going crazy now waiting for the third in the series. I really fell in love with the characters, some more than others. But, overall this was a very good way to kick off a series. 5 out of 5 magic charms. (50 out of 5 magic charms in my opinion)
I received this book in return for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal)
The book overall was good. I enjoyed the ideas presented in the book although I think that they could be developed a little clearer. I think it would have been better if there was more detail. The dance scene seemed really suspicious so I'm not sure if it had good flow in that circumstance. If Aiden was this powerful sorcerer, I feel like it would have been more believable if he cast like an illusion spell or something to make the characters walk into the dance but instead they just walked into a sketchy situation. There were also parts that seemed to bounce around, one minute Liv and Juniper were in Junipers room and the next, Scott is espying on Livvie in Livvie's room but the next day Livvie wakes up back in Juniper's room. The curse was not even mentioned again until the very end. I thought that upon her revealing that she was in love with him she would instantly die and then when that did not happen I felt like her being supernatural exempted her from the curse. However the last page reveals that they just forgot about it which I also struggled with because something that serious shouldn't slip your mind even to make way for love. I really enjoyed the book otherwise. It was such an intriguing story that for the most part I was able to overlook the structural missteps. I am excited to read the second book considering I was upset that the book ended so abruptly. I did feel like the end was rushed but now it makes sense since there is another book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a really fun story. Olivia is 17, and has been having dreams of the mysterious "Mr. Sexy" for a long time, and she isn't sure whether to believe he is real or a figment of her imagination. Scott (aka Mr. Sexy) is actually a sorcerer with a number of pretty neat powers, one of which is the ability to visit Olivia (whom he believes is his heart mate) at night. Meanwhile, one of Olivia's classmates, Aiden, is taking an extra special interest in her that she isn't sure how she feels about and Scott is worried about.
There were times that I thought I knew what was going to happen next, but Tatum really kept me guessing, by introducing fun but believable plot twists and keeping me interested through every page of the book. The only piece I found challenging at times was trying to understand Olivia's intentions and thoughts- does she like Aiden or not? sometimes her thoughts are scattered- but she is, after all, a 17 year old girl with a lot of conflicted thoughts.
The story ends on a pretty big cliffhanger but that's okay because there's another book in the series, which I will be reading promptly!
**Note: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review**
The cover initially drew me into this book! As soon as the author asked if I would review it for her I fell in love with the cover! The plot of this book was different! It was about sorcerers which I found interesting! The plot was fast paced and it helped my attention the whole way through! The characters were great as well! Olivia "Livvie" Whitehead and Scott Tabors were the main characters and I liked them both but I personally thought that Livvie took the information that Scott was a sorcerer a little too easily! I would have been asking lots of questions and not really have believed him to start with! Scott was cute! He was also so determined to protect Livvie! We didn't really get to see Scott and Livvie as a couple I also loved that this book was told from both Livvie and Scott's point of views as there was so much going on in the story! I hated Aiden! He made me so mad! Especially what he did at the end! I am really looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book in this series after what happened in this one and as I said the cover is beautiful! Big thank you to Felicia for a copy of The White Aura!
DNF after first chapter. I didn't need to read on to know what kind of book it'd be.
The book starts out with a cheesy make-out session with a few too many overly enthusiastic exclamation points. We get it, he's a great kisser. Move on. Then we realize the girl's just dreaming and she wakes up only to start criticizing her appearance. Her hair is red and her eyes are green-- how dare they be green?! Green eyes are so boring, dull, and unimpressive that she should've been born with brown eyes instead. Really. It sounded so fake and unrealistic that I just had to sit there fuming for a minute. And she goes on to talk about her figure that's only starting to form and talks about her sexy dream guy, wondering why he would be with someone as plain as her. Then she describes the outfits she's going to wear to school, talking about how cute the skirt is and how her scarf matches her eyes- then proceeds to say her outfit is ugly and dull and she can't dress good to save her life. And then, suddenly the chapter's over and it's Sexy Dream Guy's perspective and all he can do is talk about how in love he is. And then-- Well then I deleted the book.
First off i would like to Thank Felicia Tatum for giving me the opportunity to review this book for her!!!
I am by far one of the most diversified readers i know. I have certain aspects of a book that have to hit for me to like a book. This book, where its written in the POV of the characters is great. This style of writing reminds me of another author (Maggie Stiefvater), whom in my opinion is a great.
Onto the review part of this: The book took off and captured me within the first few pages and i was hooked. Could not put this book down. For being a first book from a new author i absolutely would recommend this book to many, many individuals within my circle. I loved the intrigue surrounding the book without loosing the plot. The character description made the movie come alive in my head as i was reading. This only happens when I'm reading a really good book. There were a few parts i was like "WHAT" when i got to them but it worked out in the end. Overall, I am looking forward to the next one!
I really like this book. The story flows so nicely and contains all the elements to make a great read. The characters are lovely (especially Mr. Sexy) and well developed. I couldn't put this book down.
Scott is a sorcerer who has found his love mate. He has one problem, he can only meet with her in her dreams because of a curse that was placed on his family.
Livvie meets her "Mr. Sexy" every night in her dreams. She wonders if she is going crazy feeling such deep emotions for boy she isn't sure really exists.
Aiden goes to school with Livvie and suddenly seems to take an interest in her. Livvie accepts his invitation to the Spring Dance, but has a feeling something isn't quite right with him.
There is so much more to the story, but I don't want to ruin anything for you. I am so excited to read the next book, because I HAVE to know what happens next. Great book, great characters and great beginning for the series!!!
First of all, I love books that go back and forth between two POV's. Each chapter went from Olivia/Livvie's POV to Scott/Mr.Sexy's POV,this gives you more insight into the characters and their feelings. The curse on Scott's family keeps him from his heart mate. The fact that he can visit her in her dreams, a loophole to the curse, is such a romantic notion. Olivia knows that she is dreaming about Mr Sexy, but isn't sure what to think about it. Is she crazy to feel so connected to someone in her dreams? The side characters are so likable, Sadie and Grandma are just fun. Juniper and Mark, I adored and would love to read more about them. The whole concept of this story is great. I gave it five stars because I can't find anything to complain about! It's a quick read, you won't want to put it down once you start! I really look forward to the next book!
I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable read, and difficult to put down. Felicia has given enough plot twists and turns to keep you wanting more and characters to love, cheer... and hate! Even her backstory characters are well enough written that they can jump right to their own headlining pages of their own books.
Scott is a young sorcerer and his Olivia a source to be reckoned with, and I suggest quiet time and a comfy chair to discover for yourself how well her uniqueness lends to the constant twists of the story.
My only drawback from 5 stars were a few a few typos and some of Scott's endearments for Olivia... that made me think old school, rather than how I think a young man of today would reference his love. But that did not stop me from jumping right in to the next two books as quickly as possible!!
This was a great book set! I would recommend it for Teens and young adults though. The book had really good imagination to the plot. The Author did a great job keeping you in the action of the story. I loved the characters. Some more developed than others. I am already dying to read Sadie’s collection! That poor girl. I fell in love with Aiden the most because of his horrible situation being a Vessel for the the Crimson Cal. speaking of which, the one thing I could have done without was the super corny name for the foe in the book. I just called him “Cal" the whole time because even trying to pronounce that damned word in my head was hard to deal with. lol Overall a decent read but I wished it were an adult novel with steamy sex scenes. It would have brought this set to a whole new level!

Well, that was an easy read. This was a page turner that makes me want to know more about the story. Plus I love the set of characters. Although after someone (not giving a name, duh) was painted into this really "bad" guy, I just felt attached to it. I know that there's more to it than the main character sees. I'm guessing that the villain in this book would either be Warner Shatter Me or Sebastian City of Heavenly Fire.
This is the first book I have read by Felicia Tatum.I fell in love with this book and the author. This is a book that is hard to put down because of the amazing twist and turns that leave you wanting to know "What will happen next?"
I was not sure what to expect, but I am glad that I read this book. I enjoyed this book and was totally hooked from the beginning.
I love the story-line and characters of this book. Scott and Olivia will pull at your heart strings and have you falling in love with them. This is an amazing paranormal book that has love, magic, friendships, and have you believing in heart mates.
I highly recommend this book. I will definitely be reading next book. I can not wait to see what happens next in this magical story.
3.5 stars I read this book in 2 days and I must say, It was a pretty good book. It had an interesting storyline with twists that were new to me and characters that I really liked. I was pleased with the way the author ended the book and I am looking forward to reading The Vessel, the next book in the series.
*Though there is a romantic element to the book it's still a "safe" read for all YA readers.
** I would have given it a 4 star rating except for the fact that there were several errors that made it through the editing process and I found them to be a bit distracting at times.
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
I'm not the biggest YA fan most of the time, but I really did enjoy Livvie and Scott's story. I can't wait to read the next one.
Scott is a sorcerer who has found his heartmate. He is a sexy sweetheart. His family is great too, well maybe except for his one brother who seems to be a terror.
Livvie is a teenager trying to figure out all these changes, and some of them are not what they seem. I love her though. She feels real. Her parents aren't the most helpful, but I love her best friend.
Aiden was a creep from the beginning, giving off all the bad vibes.
This story pulled me in. It's a quick fun read, and any paranormal lovers who like their YA should definitely read this one
I struggled with this review let me explain why: I love the concept, and the plot but struggled with connecting with the characters. I found some contradictions in the story and I found myself getting frustrated at how things were explained when there was no purpose to it, it didn't add anything to the story or give me further insight into the character. My last whinge without spoilers was the fight scene...it felt rushed and just fell flat. Like I said I loved the story and wanted to love this book but just didn't.
This book was really poor... it reminded me of writing assignments from high school. The author is well intentioned and I obviously thought the plot was interesting enough to warrant a download, but the execution fell very flat.
There was no pacing, all telling and no showing... the characters all had the same voice, including the male lead (which was off putting), there was no consistency between characters (they would say one thing one moment and say the opposite the next)... and it was sooooo cheesy.
