Batman is not a hero. He is just a man. Fallible, vulnerable, and angry. In a Gotham City where friend and foe are indistinguishable, Bruce Wayne's path toward becoming the Dark Knight is riddled with more obstacles than ever before. Focused on punishing his parents’ true killers, and the corrupt police that allowed them to go free, Bruce Wayne's thirst for vengeance fuels his mad crusade and no one, not even Alfred, can stop him.In the tradition of the #1 New York Times bestselling Earth One, writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank re-imagine a new mythology for the Dark Knight, where the familiar is no longer the expected in this long-awaited original graphic novel from DC Comics.
Geoff Johns originally hails from Detroit, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Media Arts and Film. He moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s in search of work within the film industry. Through perseverance, Geoff ended up as the assistant to Richard Donner, working on Conspiracy Theory and Lethal Weapon 4. During that time, he also began his comics career writing Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. and JSA (co-written with David S. Goyer) for DC Comics. He worked with Richard Donner for four years, leaving the company to pursue writing full-time.
His first comics assignments led to a critically acclaimed five-year run on the The Flash. Since then, he has quickly become one of the most popular and prolific comics writers today, working on such titles including a highly successful re-imagining of Green Lantern, Action Comics (co-written with Richard Donner), Teen Titans, Justice Society of America, Infinite Crisis and the experimental breakout hit series 52 for DC with Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka and Mark Waid. Geoff received the Wizard Fan Award for Breakout Talent of 2002 and Writer of the Year for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 as well as the CBG Writer of the Year 2003 thru 2005, 2007 and CBG Best Comic Book Series for JSA 2001 thru 2005. Geoff also developed BLADE: THE SERIES with David S. Goyer, as well as penned the acclaimed “Legion” episode of SMALLVILLE. He also served as staff writer for the fourth season of ROBOT CHICKEN.
Geoff recently became a New York Times Bestselling author with the graphic novel Superman: Brainiac with art by Gary Frank.
Seems to imply Thomas Wayne was murdered because he was running for mayor. Alfred Pennyworth and Thomas Wayne served overseas together in 'the desert.'
Shows Batman giving cash money to a homeless person begging him for mercy.
Surprise ending to an alternate earth story line. It, however, was enough to make me want to come back for more. Great art work and the story was like a tickle on the "feels", and a similar stroll down an odd memory you're not sure if it was a dream or not.

This is comprised of what could be best described as three teasers for future stories. It is an interesting read if you can get over the fact that none of the stories seem to have an ending. I found the middle story the most interesting. Bruce's father is running for mayor, and has a good chance of winning. His opponent apparently is somewhat of a shady character. As well we have the appearance of Alfred, who is both an old friend of the Waynes and is definitely more than a butler. That story ends with the Waynes heading out to see a movie while Alfred worries about what could happen. DC had rebooted or added details to Batman's origin so often this doesn't really bother me. The other two stories were also not bad. I would recommend this one for any Batman fan. Happy reading.
Batman Earth one is a very fresh take on the batman mythology without taking away from the heart of the batman lore. The variation with Alfred as a soldier and Tomas Wayne's political career are great things that make this story unique and exciting. And in reality have effected how we see the characters in publications since this one.
Another comicbook that was a freebie. Again, I will say the artwork is great. I'm not sure though that another origin story about Bruce Wayne/Batman is necessary. It was kind of cool to see that maybe this story would be told from Alfred's perspective.
A sketch of a story, relying on memories and familiarity with the world, but nothing there. A shadow. A faint after image of a fish of a signal in the sky.
Batman: Earth One (preview sample) This was more of an experiment in format. Although I rarely remember to add them to my book catalog, I read graphic novels quite often, although superhero isn't my typical genre. But who can turn down Batman.Anyway, I usually read them either in DTB format, or via a proper comic reader (Comicrack is my favourite), but I wanted to try the kindle. Which turned out to be a huge failure. This wasn't compatible with my kindle, or even the kindle desktop reader, so that experiment died on takeoff. I gave the cloud reader a try, but it was horrible - awkward navigation, sloooow, and multiple timeouts forcing a reload of the entire thing.
Add to that, the content was a bit of a let down. Nice art, but every second page seems to be a full page ad for the Dark Knight movie, and some of those ads actually look enough like the story pages to be confusing.
All in all an unsatisfying experience. (I might try pick this book up DTB though, because the art was nice, and I'd like to see if there's a story in there.)

Beginning with you in town for me know if it wasn't the first time since I've had a good day today and tomorrow and I will call in real life to live and work with a company called me back to work out with you guys are having fun at work today and tomorrow night if you want me back when we get to know what time are they doing a lot more
This is just a short collection with previews(excerpts) from other graphic novels and ads. It is not really current either. Since it was free and I had not seen these stories before, it wasn't bad. But for most people it will probably not be worth it.
Me gustó el libro buenos gráficos te mantienen metido en la historia. Muy buenas secuencias, muy dinámicas para los que les guste cómics lo recomiendo.
This comic has beautiful artwork, which is what I enjoyed most. I found the story confusing, but intriguing nonetheless. I'm unsure as to wether I would continue reading this.
Very nice...like the concept of a skilled Alfred....shows the vulnerable side of Bruce unlike the other volumes of bat man.....not perfect but we'll done
