I Trusted Him: The True Story of Anna Lynn Hurd

Rate this book
Teen relationships are often controversial and severely misunderstood. In some cases these relationships can escalate into what is commonly known as domestic violence or intimate partner violence (IPV). The more tragic of these cases sometime lead to murder . As was the case for 16-year old Anna Lynn Hurd. This book, "I Trusted Him : The True Story of Anna Lynn Hurd," methodically documents the months and days leading up to her gruesome murder, a murder that no one in the small town of Northern St. Paul could have seen coming, or could they?

One in three American women will be abused during their lifetime. Every nine seconds in the United States a woman is assaulted and beaten, 95% of the assaults come from spouses or ex-spouses, boyfriends or ex-boyfriends. Approximately 4,000 women die each year due to domestic violence, Anna was one of those women. "I Trusted Him: The True Story of Anna Lynn Hurd" will wake you up and make you think!

"If the numbers we see in domestic violence were applied to terrorism or gang violence, the entire world would be up in arms, and it would be the lead story on the news every night."
~ Rep. Mark Green, Wisconsin

This statement should outrage everyone reading it. We have a national problem and **we** need to fix it, men and women. Public outrage can make a change. Think about your child. Grandparents are very active in their grandchildren's lives; think about them. When and where does it stop? Who stops it, if we don't? Take action today. Get involved. So many issues start at home in our personally relationships that we build throughout our lifetime. We might be pleasantly surprised at the dysfunction we can repair in our society if we just say: "Enough is enough; stop the insanity now".

Anna was an old friend of mine from Texas. We were friends for a short while before she moved to live with her dad. It is a horrible thing that happened to her and it ripped my heart out. Who would take such a beautiful and wonderful person with a good soul from this would that desperately needs it. Reading this book really makes me want to beat the guy with a baseball bat, but I know that wouldn't change a thing. I constantly pray for the Hurd family and Anna's friends. I agree with everyone that every teen needs to read this book. Its great that this book offers on how to spot the warning signs of future and current abuse in a relationship.

I just read this and it really touched me. I don't have a teenager now but I see this around me sometimes when I'm shopping and it's so sad. Things have changed so much since I grew up, these kids today really don't have a chance. We all need to be aware of what can be done and maybe we can help someone in the future if we're prepared. Check out this book, it's full of answers.

Can say I do know this to be a very accurate depiction of the events. I was personally attached to this tragedy, as my girlfriend at the time was close to the young lady. It's is admirable what author did, turning a tragic experience into a message in Hopes of something changing a cycle of violence that really should be more kept an eye on and intervened when dire.

Anna was a friend of my adopted daughter. Since Anna was so brutally murdered we have only had a few chats about her as my daughter would shut down. Today and together we read Anna's story. Looking at my daughter beside me I saw her tears stream down her face. Please if you have a daughter of any age...have her read this...perhaps a son that you believe is in an unhealthy relationship...have them read this. It is well written and has many pages that explains warning signs...how to spot manipulation and how to get help. I just pray that this young man will spend his pitifully short time in prison without the promise of good behavior. He will do this again. God Bless you Anna...your entire family and the beauty of the moon her favorite thing to see as she looked to the heavens.

I Trusted Him (The True Story of Anna Lynn Hurd) is a two-part e-book written by Anna’s mother, Jennifer Smith, and advocate Cherry Tigris. The first part tells about Anna’s story — a 16-year old girl living with her father and in a relationship with Mark (not his real name). It focused mostly on how her relationship with Mark — an over-jealous, domineering boyfriend — made her decide to return to her mother to Texas and met her untimely death. The second part is more about domestic violence a.k.a. intimate partner violence (IPV) and how it could be prevented as both authors are now spreading the awareness about it using this e-book as a tool. the book is thrill for me... having a possesive boyfriend? too much possesive. poor anna, she loves her boyfriend and trusted him.

when I saw this book, its quite interesting and aroused my curiousity. Its definitely a book for a teenager. I expecting anna story but my interest is not filled in the second part of the book... but its good to give readers information about teen violence dating.

Good information, but not what I was expecting when I picked up this book. I was expecting more of a story line, whereas that was only the first 50 or so pages of the book.
