A fashion model’s scandalous erotic odyssey continues in the sequel to Cult of Beauty: the Secret Life of a Supermodel, as Katie Wolfer battles with her step-sister and gets in deep with a charismatic, French billionaire on a secret project: The Lotus. Rife with drugs, wild sex and other questionable behaviors, Katie's story is a roller coaster ride that pulls back the curtain on a shocking world.
As one of the most beautiful women in the world, Katie is a magnet for people’s desire, and she herself has a deep wild streak that makes her a perfect match for French aristocrat and polo player, Victor de Goncourt. He wants her to help him run a very special project: The Lotus. Can business and pleasure mix?
K M Dylan is a former model turned author. She is half French, half American and lives in NYC.
Her introduction to erotica was from amazing classics her parents had hidden away. After reading books by Anais Nin, Emmanuelle Arsan and Pauline Reage's Story of O, she decided it was okay to experiment sexually and came to view sex as a sensuous erotic experience. Her adventures have provided lots of inspirational material for her erotic writings.

3.5 Stars Sweet Jesus this book was all sorts of raunchy!! I mean there is nothing off limits here. If it can happen it does on the Lotus. Some things I couldn't deal with were first cousins foolin around and having sex it makes me feel icky! I hope they have STD testing mandatory to get in to this sex club because the orgies and the cum all over them I mean sheesh!! This ends with a slight cliffy nothing too crazy but it leaves you wondering what Miss Katie will do. I would definatley read the next book if for nothing other than reading what this crazy chick is up to next and who else she will have sex with!
I'm not sure where to even start with my thoughts on this one. The first book was an eye opening experience for me in regards to what the life of a super model is like. While there were some moments in the first book that my brows went up to my forehead, nothing really shocked me. And let me note for the record, I'm not that kind of girl that's easily shocked. In fact, I liked the direction the first book was taking. This book...was a bit out there.
So, I'll start with where things left off in the first book. Katie's step-father, Daniel, whom she was in love with, passed away and now things are bit unsettled among the family. Katie is set to inherit some of his estate and his biological daughter, Caroline, is having some trouble with that. They head over to France to get things settled and there Katie meets Victor. It's clear that they have some pretty intense chemistry from the start, but Victor has some interesting ideas on relationships. He's definitely into Katie, but he also wants her to help him build his business. His business...basically a secret sex club that's on a yacht. There's an abundance of drugs and every sexual fantasy you can imagine. While, Katie is familiar with a lot of this, some of the things she experiences are new to her. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like she struggled a bit with some of the bizarre. She really cares for Victor and vice versa, but yet they have these massive orgies. I think that's the part I struggled with the most. If you truly love someone, why would you want to share them? So, are they really in love? I suppose we shall see. Victor wants to take their relationship to the next level, but someone from her past resurfaces and I think Katie's going to have to make some tough decisions.
I have to point out that not all the sex was all that out there to me. The first time Katie and Victor are together was pretty damn hot. And I admit, the scenes between Katie, Emily, and men were pretty incredible. I think it was because there was an intimacy involved in those scenes that made it appealing. I also admit that there was a part of me that hope that Katie would end up with Arnaud.
I suppose I could go on more about the details of the book, but I feel like my mind is a blur of sex, drugs, and orgies. There were threesomes, holes filled in every available slot, and even some girl on girl action. Seriously, it was intense. So, how can I rate it a 4? Here's why...I still feel some compassion for Katie. I think she's a good person who got stuck in this chaotic life. She wants to be loved and wants to love someone completely. Plus, I'm still totally fascinated by this lifestyle. It's so far out of the realm of my reality, so it's interesting to me. I'll definitely read the next book. I need to know where things will go from here. If you're looking for a true Erotic Novel and you have an open mind, check this series out!
I thought I had been shocked with Katie’s antics in Cult of Beauty but that’s was child’s play compared to The Lotus! I had thought the poolside party or the beach scene in COB was salacious; well let me tell you, there’s plenty more than that this time round! Ms Dylan pushes all boundaries and every limit! There were times when I felt like maybe she had pushed me to my limits but I was caught up in the story so much I guess I adjusted them!
I did cringe at some of the situations Katie found herself in, but to Ms Dylan’s credit, I wanted find out what happened next, how far Katie would go or do to feel loved. It seemed she was trying to find someone that would fill some void within her; Daniel, Gavin, Victor, Arnaud, even Ryan. And it seems she has found that in part, from of these men. But which one holds her heart and love? Who is still in her life to love her?
I felt that Ms Dylan has given more depth to Katie and the other characters this time, something I did feel a little lacking in Cult of Beauty. Katie develops new relationships ones which at first may seem strange but in the long run they come true. When you meet Victor, you’ll understand *winks* This story does give more to the plot line than just extremely hot sex, but Ms Dylan certainly hasn’t skimped on the sex!
Just as in COB the sex scenes are off the charts and extreme in some parts, each time expanding the parameters of her sexual repertoire and if I’m honest broadening my views and opinions on certain aspects of their lives. Some of the scenes, though they are far from my wheelhouse (that is part of the intrigue) are interesting and then there are others that perplex me. I don’t understand and cannot comprehend allow those things to be done to oneself. Then again, I don’t think I was ever destined to be a submissive either!
WHAM! No, not the 80’s band, but that noise you hear when you are hit with an all merciful, completely unexpected plot twist… especially one which leaves you on the cliff-hanger that has you gasp out loud! Thank you, Ms Dylan, for the near heart attack!
What I said in my review of Cult of Beauty rings true here too: Go in with an open mind…. And your B.O.B or significant other nearby! I’m beginning to see a pattern in Ms Dylan’s books and I LOVE it!
I am definitely looking forward to book #3 and getting answers to the many, many questions, we are left with at The Lotus’ end.
WOW!!! I'm not sure where to start with this review!!! I guess the best place to start would be at the beginning! The Lotus picks up right where book one ends. Katie and her step family are trying to pick up the pieces after a devastating loss! Not knowing where she'll end up, Katie tries to be the support system to everyone around her, although there's one person she can't bring herself to seeing...Gavin! Close family friend Arnauld returns as he helps the family manuveur through this difficult time. He and Katie start up a small romance. When I say romance I mean they hook up for some naughty fun! With Katie conquering the US in the book 1, she takes her talents internationally and meets Victor! Victor is...um...hell, HE'S A FREAK!!!!! And is not ashamed to show it! Christian Grey ain't (yes I said ain't) got nothing on Victor! He and Katie begin a romance and deal with a jealous and manipulative Caroline! Katie's stepbrother Ryan, who was pretty much a basket case in book 1, seems to have gotten some hidden mojo and provides shocking comic relief! Katie is still her sexually liberated self! She's like a siren and NO ONE is immune from her call! Just when it looks like Katie and Victor will ride off into the sunset...BAM! Katie's past comes back with a vengeance potentially putting a halt to her and Victor's hot romance! What happens next???? Well, you will have to wait until BOOK 3!
This book is pure erotica! For me, erotica pushes limits, makes you feel a little dirty for being turned on, and find ways to help you reach your sexual peek! I found myself trying to put this book down because I could not believe what the HELL was going on, but I couldn't! My inner hedonist would not allow it! I was shocked, uncomfortable, confused, happy, and sad while reading this book. I loved reading about Katie's crazy sexcapades! She's a woman who wants to feel loved and cherished. She understands eventually she will have to settle down with that special someone; but for now, the world is hers for the taking, and she's taking it one sexy romp at a time! The author does a great job of describing all the naughty fun that goes on! I felt like I was right there in the middle of it all! I told her that I needed to commit myself to a nunnery after reading this book! I'm afraid book 3 will make me spontaneously combust...I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
This is the second book in the series and it could be read alone, as the author did a great job in giving us back ground to the story, but I highly recommend you read the first book as well. A brief over view, Katie has already lost her mother and her step father (whom she feel in love with) has died. His death is suspicious but she believes he died fighting for the right to love her with another man. She is now left with her step fathers business partner and two step siblings, one who has some mental issues.
The story takes us on the journey Katie begins at this phase of her life. She is in her early 20's and is a very successful model but she fears she is aged out of modeling already so she needs to make plans for her future. She goes through hearing the will of her step father and then the battle of who really deserves anything with her step sister. She goes to the funeral in France and meets Victor.
She is now faced with the fact she may walk out of this family without the money she was promised, or she could take Victor up on this great offer to help run the Lotus (one of the biggest, richest party scenes known to man) She is also conflicted with her upbringing of being a good girl, going to a good college, getting the best grades she could, being one of the top models in the business, to now being willing to be a sex slave and participate in just about every kind of sex event you could imagine and some I couldn't even begin to make up.
By the end of the book she has decided that she can't keep going this route, but Victor has other plans. The ending will leave you in a cliff hanging situation but don't fear the third book is coming soon. The writer did a wonderful job developing the characters and the plot, it is just hard not to let the plot get lost in all of the sex scenes. There were no times of the story dragging and I was able to invest myself in her situation of trying to find out who she was. The world she knew and the world she was living in now was black and white and the author did a great job of showing there were no gray areas in her world. It was all or nothing. She lost her self worth and dignity, but she never lost her will to reach for it again.
When Hemingway wrote about the bullfights in Andalucía, you could taste the grit and dust, feel the heat and chill of the sol y sombra, sense the coppery tang of blood as the matador elegantly performed the coup de grâce. It is called authenticity. Hemingway went. He saw. He felt. He knew. He wrote.
A young model slinks up the catwalk under low lights in high heels and little else. How does she feel? She feels sexual, erotic, the embodiment of youth, beauty and sensuality. Her skin glistens. Her pulse races. Her breasts throb with the beat of her heart. The adrenaline zips through her perfectly toned body and she knows she won't be getting any sleep that night. She doesn't want to get any sleep that night.
I know this because I have read Cult of Beauty, and what I felt as I slipped hurriedly, compulsively, through the pages was that thing: authenticity. Author K M Dylan was an international model. She has, to borrow the phrase, been there, done it all, seen it all - and survived to tell the tale in prose as elegant as that Andaluz torero.
The Lotus continues Katie Wolfer's story, a tale of big money, battles with her step-sister, a secret project and sex. A lot of sex deliciously painted as if by Picasso with bold flourishing strokes and every color on the palette. Katie is beautiful - modeled, I'm sure, on K(atie) M Dylan - and beauty, she has come to realize, is as much a burden as a gift. Men are drawn to her and she swats them away like flies, well, not always, all except Victor de Goncourt - aristocrat, filthy rich, a polo player, as bold and sleek as a '65 Mustang, as wild and endurable as she is.
Now, there's a business proposal: The Lotus. Something of a secret. Big money - K M Dylan think in billions, it's her nature, and a new world of even greater temptation. For those who have read Cult of Beauty: The Confessions of a Supermodel, the erotica quotient in The Lotus has stepped up a couple of gears. For those who haven't, I suggest you fill this gaping lacuna on your bookshelves.
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.
This is the second book in Cult of Beauty series.
After finishing book one The Secret Life of A Supermodel. I was taken back at the main character Katie and her sexycapades. It true erotic form this book was full of sex. Dirty, crude, almost unimaginable sexual relations with anyone and everyone, including her own stepsister.
So going into The Lotus I didn’t think there was any way to out do the sex in book 1. Well it did not disappoint in that it was full of sex.

The story picks up where book one ended. In this book I feel Katie has finally become comfortable with herself and learns to let her self go more. She still has some morals but is more carefree. I found that The Lotus captured my attention better then The Secret Life of a Supermodel. It was a fast paced steamy hot book and the plot got better and better as you got further and further into it. If you read TSLOASM then you will be glad to know that Natasha, Caroline, Arnud, and even Emily make an apperance. Katie and Caroline continue there love hate relationship and even more of Caroline’s antics cause major hurdles for Katie. By the end of the book was another shock kind of like in the first book but not quite in the same way. I am very curios to read the next book and find out what happens!
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book has excellent imagery, higher level vocabulary than books of this type and has realistic character development. The development of settings and plot are clear and emotional. I have to say that this book made me glad I never became a model, and that I am a more "normal" person. This story has an intensity that is rare. As I analyzed the story, I wondered about the protagonist's emotional, physical and psychological health. I believe that this demonstrates unusual strength proven by this author to develop her story. This was an emotional book for me and a cautionary tale. I don't know if that is what the author intended, but that is how I perceived it. I recommend this book to adults who are willing to face the emotional roller coaster to read a well written story of love, loss, addiction and insecurity, infused in a life of luxury and excess. It does have quite a few steamy scenes, but sex was not the primary message I got from this book.
This is a provocative read. The Secret Life Of a Supermodel was shocking at times and The Lotus is as equally shocking, if not more. There is nothing hidden in this sex filled book. The Lotus, a place where the loaded and beautiful go, where debauchery and fantasies happen. Sad start to this second part though as, Katie has to deal with the ramifications of Daniel and Gavin's chest pumping which ended in tragedy. There is a lot to be said about this young beautiful woman who it seems makes the wrong decisions most the time, her behaviour with her step-brother is wrong, it's like putting a cake in front of a child and saying “no eating or touching, you can only look” yet her step-sister is allowed to touch and eat the cake. Katie often says to herself that she shouldn't indulge or go as far as she does, but, she is one rebellious woman and any shame she feels she sweeps behind her. It is exciting to read the unpredictable behaviour of Miss Katie Wolfer.
This is an outrageous lavish read, that is flamboyant and filthy. Yes, it is FABULOUS.
Oh. My. GOD!!! I can not even out into words how I feel about this book. First of all, I really enjoyed book 1, but this book, blew it right out of the water. I LOVED this book! To be truthful the subject matter, lots of sex, "taboo sex", drugs, and money being thrown around and spent like nothing might not be everyone's cup of tea. Luckily for me, that is my type of thing, (haha). Jokes aside this book was incredibly good! I am pretty vague when I write a review because I never want to give anything away. So all I'm going to say is, if you read the first book and liked it, hell if you read the first book and hated it, I STILL think you'll LOVE this book. And the ending....once again the ending got me! Bravo Katie! Keep sucking me back in for more!
If you are looking for a seriously HOT and Dirty read, DO NOT MISS OUT ON The Lotus by K.M. Dylan. This is book two in the Cult of Beauty series and HOLY HELL is it ever HOT!!! I think my kindle lit a cigarette after this one! If you love the likes of Maya Banks and Shayla Black... the queens of dirty, The Lotus is right up your alley :-) Cult of Beauty wasn't for me but the story was great! The Lotus is exactly what I hope K.M. Dylan would do with book two! Great story and insanely HOT and Dirty! Warning This book is not for the faint of heart as it contains graphic sex! That being said if you are looking for a quick scorching hot read that actually has a story, the Lotus is for you. I think I might need a cigarette after reading this one too! ;-)
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.
First of all, I have been waiting very no so patiently for this to be release. Cult of Beauty: The Secret Life of a Supermodel was super smoking and The Lotus is just as hot if not hotter. When I read this book, I did not know that there was going to be a THIRD in this series so K M Dylan needs to hurry up and write it cause I want to know what happens next. In this book, you discover how adaptable Katie is after her stepfather dies. There are some super hot and sexy choices and some choices that she should have thought about before she make it. But, oh well, what can you do? This is a five star read!
This book is a strong 4 star review. This book was written well and really described the life of a model. This book has a lot of sex and more sex every way you can think of. This book shows how Katie is finally finding herself and learning to be who she is. This book is perfect for anyone wanting a glimpse into the intriguing and mysterious world of modeling, with a good dose of sex too :) If your looking for erotica and scandal this book is right up your alley so get it you wont regret it...I didn't cant wait to see what happens next!!
The only words that came out of my mouth after reading this book was WOW. This book goes way beyond FSOG ever went. I have to say this is the most erotic book that I have read to date. I had a really had time putting this book down even with the craziness of the story. I can't wait to see where this story goes next.
I wrote it, so I LOVE it. This continues Katie Wolfer's erotic odyssey as a world-famous fashion model who wants to have her cake and eat it too. This novel lets you peek behind the curtain of an ultra luxurious and decadent lifestyle, and it is sure to shock and arouse you.
Seriously some very hot ansd heavy s & m. Not into the sexual scene between relatives blood related or not. I still enjoyed it. Cringed at times. Now the series continues,... Cliffhanger
