In the Christian literary world there are devotionals and there are Bible studies, and then there is Laura Krokos' A Devotional Journey Through Judges, which is a little bit of both! Her title is apt, as this book truly is a journey. Unlike most devotionals that contain random verses from different parts of the Bible, Journey Through Judges provides consecutive verses beginning at the first verse of Judges and ending with the last, giving the reader a cohesive theme to follow throughout the devotional. The reader is able to gain knowledge of the book of Judges while benefitting from Laura's insight and personal tidbits. I am thoroughly enjoying this devotional. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a devotional that is a bit different from the traditional coffee table edition, or anyone that would like a Bible study that does not require much time. She did a beautiful job on this book! Great work!

RECOMMENDED

Generally speaking, I don’t spend too much time in the Old Testament, but just thought I’d give this book of Judges some time… Much to my delight, this author does a great job of tying Jesus and the New Testament to this book. While Judges can be brutal and sometimes very dark, Krokos does a good job of weaving beams of light throughout this time of Jewish history. Recommended.

A Devotional Journey through Judges is an exceptional Bible study that has the flexibility of having you study by yourself, or as part of a small group. It is about a book in the Bible that goes overlooked and one that I did not know much about. Each day is filled with the Scripture of the Day, followed by personal questions on how this passage relates to your life, interpretation by the author and personal stories and encouragement from her, explaining a Biblical principle and ending with a prayer.

I enjoyed this devotional very much and would highly recommend for both a personal or small group study. This book comes with amazing resources to do both. The lovely thing is each day just takes a few minutes so you can grab a cup of coffee and get in the Word in the morning, and it is a wonderful start to your day.

There is so much heart and dedication that went into making this book. Each lesson is full of engaging content that can be applied to everyday life and the author makes it easy to understand. Reading this devotional will really help you grow in your faith and gain more knowledge of the Bible. I am excited to read more books by this author!

I didn't finish reading this book; most of the devotions seem to be fairly wide-ranging departures from the actual text of the book of Judges. Not helpful for those who are interested in exploring this oft-overlooked Old Testament book.

A great devotional book. Will most likely read it again sometime. While I appreciate the devotional format, this would have made a great Bible study. It would have to go a bit deeper for me to be in that category. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed this devotional book.

Remember God

Judges is a sad chapter in the history of man. We too often choose to do what seems right in our own eyes, and we go astray. God doesn't sugarcoat the Truth. He knows who we are, and we need to remember who we are.

A very good Bible Study. I was interested in this as my Brother preached a series on Judges. I wanted to go deeper in the scriptures. I learned quite a bit and was able to apply more to my life.
