Rate this book
Cooper Krenshaw knows what it’s like to feel the bright lights upon him, the sound of the crowd roaring when he walks on stage; after all, he happens to be one of the biggest names in country music at the moment. And he has knowingly just dropped off the grid. The first decision he has made on his own in quite some time. Cooper only thought he was looking for a challenge when he walked off of that concert stage in Chicago. After finding himself in Devil’s Bend, Texas, he soon realizes that the dream he’s been chasing might not be the one he was after all along.

Now he’s found himself not only starting over in a new town, but he’s pretty sure he’s met the toughest challenge of his life... she just happens to be an angel in blue jeans.

Tessa Donovan hasn’t been the best of friends with Fate for quite some time now. Owning and operating The Rusty Nail, a small bar in her hometown of Devil’s Bend, has been enough to keep her going through the motions of her life. But it’s the only thing she’s got. After losing her husband fifteen short months after they were married, Tessa has spent the last four years chasing dreams in order to maintain her sanity. Only those dreams are soon ripped right out of her grasp by a sexy country music star who claims he descended on her small town by accident.

Coincidence? Or has Fate stepped in once again? Whatever the case, Tessa knows the handsome cowboy might get to overtake her dreams, but she’s bound and determined that he won’t take her heart.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.

Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.

3.5 Country Dream stars

 photo imagejpg1_zps0d9c8db3.jpg

Twenty nine year old, Tessa Donovan, has lived in Devils Bend all of her life. As co-owner of The Rusty Nail, she spends most of her nights with the patrons that come into her bar. As a widow, this lonely life she leads is just temporary. She has big plans and even bigger dreams she wants to accomplish. When her brother is able to book a huge country music star to come play at their small town bar, she is more concerned about filling orders than the star himself. Who knew he was about to crush the dreams she has been working so hard towards.

This is exactly what thirty one year old, Cooper Krenshaw has been wanting. As a Nashville superstar in the country music scene, the big life is starting to wear on him. The small venue in the bar in the humble town is the reason he got into music. This may be his opportunity to escape his hectic life and start working on building his dream. It doesn't hurt that the beautiful waitress working behind the bar has his full attention, in more ways than one.

Cooper is relentless in getting to know more about Tessa. She is on guard for good reasons. Her past has been anything but easy. As he slowly breaks down her defenses, she finds she could really fall for this handsome, talented, and sweet man. But will he still want to stick around when her secrets come out? Can they end up chasing the same dream...together?

This is the first book in the Devils Bend series, and I think one of the last Nicole Edwards book that I haven't gotten to. I'm pretty sure I've read everything else of hers. One thing I am sure of, is that whenever you jump into one of her books, you know you'll get a sweet and steamy read. I think after a string of dark romance and mind fuckery, it was just the comfort that I needed.

Nicole Edwards always does a great job in writing a good light-hearted romance that is low on the angst and stupidity of characters (albeit, lack of communication and characters who can't get over their inner monologues and issues). At least I find most of her MC's likable. If you have read any of her work, she has a talent for her m/m/f trios, and her m/f/m hot sex scenes. This was a nice straight (pardon the pun) m/f love story. Her stories are pretty quick and all wrap up with a nice HEA.

No offense to the author, but if you are looking for something epic and brings out the feels, this won't be your book. I personally liked the start to the Devils Bend, but I more so enjoy the total clusterfuck of friends and brothers in her Alluring Indulgence series. Plus, those books are hot as fuck.

As mentioned, this was just what I needed. It had the recipe for your typical romance read. I would recommend this, if that's what your looking for. Otherwise nothing exceptional, but I am a devoted fan, so I am partial.

Have you ever read a book where you get whiplash because the characters' behavior flips from one extreme to another? This was that book for me. Tessa started out as a strong and independent woman who I really liked. Somewhere along the way I think she was invaded by body snatchers because she started acting like an extremely insecure dimwit. Cooper initially came across as a confident and patient man for most of the book but towards the end it was like he sprouted another head. WTH happened? I felt like I was reading three totally different books. Things jumped around, were choppy at times and I found myself skimming a lot.

I gave this book 3 stars because in spite of my issues with Cooper and Tessa, I really liked the supporting characters and wanted more of their stories. Dalton and Katie really peaked my interest and I want them to have their own book. Jack was another one I want to know more about and I'm sure Adam's got a story worth reading about too.

I'm a huge fan of Nicole's other series, unfortunately this one missed the mark for me.

A great beginning to a new series from Nicole Edwards. If Club Destiny and Alluring Indulgence books are smoking hot set-your-kindle-on-fire erotic romances this one is mighty fine, plenty steamy contemporary romance. Not as erotic but very very sexy - you still get the Nicole Edwards style character development you've come to love and expect. Loveed it - can't wait for more!

Chasing Dreams was the first book in Nicole Edwards’ Devil’s Bend series. I’ve already read the Walker Brothers series, Alluring Indulgence, which highlights Tessa’s cousins so it was time I backed up and tackled this series as well.

Tessa Donovan was the owner of the Rusty Nail bar. She was also a young widow who guarded her heart at all cost. She was strong, sassy and beautiful.

Cooper Crenshaw was a famous country music star that was taking a break from the spotlight. He landed in Devil’s Bend, TX, the home of an old college friend, who also happened to be the brother to Tessa.

Edwards took us on a journey involving country music, living in the spotlight, experiencing loss, chasing dreams and taking risks. It was well written, well developed and a fairly quick read. Additionally Edwards included a fantastic supporting cast further adding depth and dimension to the storyline.

I liked the story and both of the characters but for some reason I didn’t quite connect with them. I bought into Tessa’s feistiness but not so much her hesitation to Cooper. She seemed a little too cold at times and although I liked the story, I never really gelled with her. It was a good read, so it was probably just my timing and preference at the moment.

Edwards also successfully set the stage for the series for promising stories for Tessa’s brothers, Adam and Jack, as well as Cooper’s friend and fellow country star, Dalton. Next up is Dalton in Vanishing Dreams and I can’t wait.

This was my first Nicole Edwards book and will certainly not be my last. I have been dying to read this author and when the chance came to read this new series, I couldn't say no! I am so glad that I picked up this book to experience all of the wonderful things that Denise has always said about Nicole. Namely her complete writing perfection, her attention to every last detail and the complete love I now feel for her characters. I am totally and completely vested and I want to know more....like now!

Denise gave you a really great summary of the book and rather than do that I wanted to highlight the things that really worked for me in this book. First off, I love a good challenge and I couldn't wait to get through Chasing Dreams to see if Cooper would be able to get Tessa to trust him and open up to him. He was the epitome of an AMAZING boyfriend - confident, sexy, relentless and oh the sex was simply magnetic. He was all these things and more. His patience and understanding solidified his place in my heart.

What spoke to me was how emotionally connected this couple was throughout the book. I felt it to my very core. This was such a beautiful story and it truly stayed with me for days as I wondered when I would see more of the Devil's Bend crew.

Thank you to Denise for introducing me to Nicole Edwards and thank you to Nicole for writing a story that warmed my heart and filled me with such happiness, love and contentment <3

It’s official…I am moving to Texas. I just can’t handle it anymore. I don’t care if they are fictional or not but damn all these hot country guys that are in Nicole’s books. I feel like there must be something in the water down there. There has to be for all these tall, charming, sexy, country boys to be born and bred Texans.

But see, I would be killing two birds with one stone by moving to Texas. One, I would make my bestie (who just happens to be a San Antonian) very happy. And Two, I would get to indulge in all the hot cowboys. I am convinced that there are Cooper Krenshaw’s, Dalton Calhoun’s, Walker brothers, McCoy’s…and oh the list goes on and on.

Moral of the story…Nicole Edwards can write one AMAZING country boy. Not only that, she makes you experience all the feeling and emotions of the characters perfectly in sync with them. I fell in love with Nicole’s writing back when I read the Club Destiny novels and even more with her Alluring Indulgence novels.

Now, those series are considered erotica, and Chasing Dreams is actually a Contemporary Romance novel. But let me state this hear and now. I feel NO differently about this book than I do her others. I love it just as much…hell, maybe even more. You get the angst, the emotion, the whole package….including the super-hot, super-steamy, sex!! So don’t go getting yourself all riled up with that Contemporary Romance description because I promise you, Nicole Edwards will NEVER ever be lacking in the sex scene aspect.

Let’s get down to it, shall we?

Tessa Donovan

Tessa is the middle child, with two brothers-Adam and Jack. (pssst…I already have a major crush on Jack..I’m sorry but he drinks SoCo…we already have one thing in common). Tessa is also the owner, along with Adam, of The Rusty Nail. Around four years ago, Tessa lost her husband, who was a police officer, and Tessa is sort of in that phase where she isn’t really looking to settle down at all.

But, her world is turned upside down when very sexy, very famous Cooper Krenshaw comes to Devil’s Bend.

…The guy was probably used to getting any woman he wanted, so the come hither look he’d perfected probably got him pretty far in life.
Too bad for him, she wasn’t interested.
Damn it.
She was so interested her body was doing crazy things.

Cooper Krenshaw

So, Cooper is a famous country singer that is to the point where he’s kind of tired being in the limelight. He’s ready to settle down, and not necessarily with a woman, but just settle down in general. In a place that he can call home without the annoyance of the media and his major pain in the ass manager.
Stardom had its downside and one of them was the loneliness that came along with it.

So there is obvious attraction between Tessa and Cooper but typical Tessa, she is trying to ignore it. She puts on this façade that all she wants is sex, which is totally untrue, because in all honesty, Tessa is afraid to get too close to someone. She lives with this crazy idea that all things good things are temporary and have an expiration date.

“I’m not looking for one night, Tessa.”
“I’m not looking for forever, cowboy.”

It doesn’t take long for Tessa and Cooper to submit to the attraction that is between them. Let me tell you, this was where I was a happy, happy girl! I love that moment when two characters finally give and come to terms with the fact that the attraction they feel for each other isn’t going anywhere so why deny yourself any longer?

Kissing him was like coming home for the first time in years.

Sparks…there are sparks between these two. I can’t even describe it. It is so different than Nicole’s other books and I just absolutely love it.

“Do you have any idea what you do to me?” he asked when they both came up for air a few minutes later. “What you’ve done to me since the first time I laid eyes on you?”

I mentioned angst, above. There is definitely angst in this book. For the first time EVER, Nicole Edwards made me cry while reading one of her books. Yes, tears! And multiple times, too.

Tessa knew without a doubt, no matter how hard she fought and pleaded with her heart, Cooper was going to be the next man to break her. It was inevitable.

And does he ever. *sigh I won’t give anything away, But, yeah…this was a tough one to get through at times. I LOVED these characters. When they were hurting, I was hurting. I feel like I connected with Cooper and Tessa on an entirely different level than I have with Nicole’s other characters. And that’s saying something because I am hardcore in love with Travis Walker.

There were so many things I loved about this book. When I wasn’t crying and being emotional of course. Well hell, even then I loved it. But anyway, one of things I love about this book was how fun it was at times. That’s one thing I really enjoy about Nicole’s books. She makes them fun and sexy all at the same time without making it cheesy.

“What are you doing?” she asked when he closed the back door and locked it.
“Keeping your brother out. I figure if he comes back, this way he won’t interrupt. Lord knows what he’ll do when he hears you screaming.”
Tessa laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. “You plan to make me scream, cowboy?”
“More than once, darlin’. More than once.”

I also said this book was emotional, did I not? The ups and downs of Chasing Dreams was SO worth it. I can’t even begin to break down all the emotions I went through while reading this book. This is such an amazing love story the delves into things like trust, loss, betrayal, sacrifice, and so much more.

Overall, great book. One of my favorite by Nicole so far. I am looking forward to reading more in the Devil’s Bend series.

Like always, I will leave you with some of my favorite quotes.

Cooper’s world shifted on its axis. He loved this woman. Heart and soul.

Tessa, I don’t even know how to say the words. I spend my days playing songs about love, but I can’t figure out how to express what I feel for you. It’s so much more than love.”

“…I was chasing a dream, but little did I know that what I had set out for wasn’t what I thought it was. Building this,” he glanced around and then back to her face, “it’s what got me here. It all comes down to you. You’re my dream, Tessa. You’re everything I’ve wanted, everything I’ve prayed for.”

Chasing Dreams by Nicole Edwards
4.5 stars!!

“From the first time I saw her Her smile spoke to my soul My heart found a home Right there in the arms of my angel in blue jeans.”

We all know that I am a lover of anything Nicole Edwards and this book certainly doesn’t disappoint. I know that Nicole was a bit nervous with this one as she is well known for her super steamy, erotic romances and was going for something different this time. Why was she worried!!! She has delivered a brilliant steamy, contemporary romance!! For all us romantics at heart, this is a fab read that will have you swooning, you cannot help but fall in love with Cooper and Tessa and Nicole takes you on such an amazing journey with these two that you cannot help but will them on till the very end.

Tessa Donovan part owns the “Rusty Nail” bar in Devils Bend, this bar was her and her brother Adam’s inheritance from their absentee father. Tessa runs the bar and Adam manages the entertainment side, bringing in bands and singers to take to the stage.

Tessa is an extremely private and guarded person, she has had her fair share of heartache! Her husband died in the line of duty as he was a police officer and then when she finally managed to take the leap of faith into another relationship, it ended badly with the douchebag slandering her reputation all over town, so now she is reluctant to ever put herself in that position again. Keeping house with her two Siberian Huskies she is quite content living the life she does but she is lonely. She has her dreams and aspirations and is trying her hardest to achieve them. But will her life ever be the same when her brother brings one his university friends to play at The Rusty Nail.

“Tessa knew without a doubt, no matter how hard she fought and pleaded with her heart, Cooper was going to the next man to break her.”

Cooper Krenshaw is “hot stuff” in the country music world, he is at the top of his field, but he too has his own problems, feeling the pressure and burn out, he decides to take a break and just drives. He ends up getting in contact with Adam and Adam books him to play at the Rusty Nail.

Tessa and Cooper have an instant attraction to each other, however Tessa is worried, especially due to her past experiences and also the fact that Cooper is only in town to recharge. Will Tessa be the motive that Cooper needs to seek a permanent residence away from Nashville? Will Cooper’s manager and fans be happy with him leaving?

“I’m not interested in casual, Tessa. I haven’t been interested in casual for a long time. I’m old enough to know what I want, and playing games ain’t it.”

These two have a lot to overcome during this story, but it was told beautifully, you couldn’t help but be captivated by their story and I couldn’t put it down. Tessa is an amazing character, she had been badly burned in the past and her past was by no means happy but she still managed to be upbeat and tried to be happy. She put on a brave front to her family and friends but Nicole let us see the real Tessa during this story.

“Chasing dreams seemed to be the only thing he knew how to do.”

Cooper, what a guy!! He was your tall, ripped, handsome cowboy with a hot gravelly voice to boot. He was smooth, he could talk and sing your panties off in a flash. He had hoards of fans that whilst he appreciated them, they could also be a total pain. He loved having his quiet moments, he craved that peace, quiet and tranquillity.

I loved this story, I felt their love and passion, the smexy times were still steamy even without the added signature Nicole Edwards kink. As I was reading and going through their various ups and downs and typical new relationship problems and insecurities I was willing them together all the way. They truly deserved each other and were so alike. They were soul mates.

“Awww, shucks, cowboy,” Tessa said with a mischievous grin. “You’re not so bad yourself.”

Once again Nicole, super read, I can’t wait to see where this series goes. Loved the fact that the Walker’s were Tessa’s cousins, so perhaps there will be some more crossovers coming up?? Would love to see a book about Dalton who we were introduced to in this book and also Jack, he deserves his HEA too.

For those of you who have heard of Nicole Edwards but for whatever reason have not yet checked out her books, I highly recommend you pick up Chasing Dreams, book 1 in her new Devils Bend Series.

This book tells the story of country music star Cooper Krenshaw and a small town girl, well more like small town woman Tessa Donovan; truth be told this story does so much more then tell the story of these two people as it quickly pulls the reader into a whole new world; one Ms. Edwards has built in true living color, a town named Devil’s Bend filled with characters I can’t wait to get to know more about.

Copper and Tessa’s journey was powerful, emotional and in true Ms. Edwards fashion – hot! Cooper is a man who understands the power of words, he uses them to be kind, he uses them in his songs to woo and he uses them in the bedroom to heat things up. I fell in love with Cooper, his pure desire to be happy, his filthy mouth, his desire to want get to know Tessa. I adore how Cooper was able to be gentleman on a date and a hot as sin lover. I would say behind closed doors but this man heats it up outside, against walls and well I don’t want to give away all the steam but you will enjoy reader Cooper’s exploration of all things Tessa.

Like most of Ms. Edwards characters Tessa and Cooper are mature adults with backstory and baggage.

For the serious side…. for me this story became about overcoming adversity; about deciding the past is the past and if you want happy you need to risk being hurt again.

Tessa has lived a hard life – one with heartache, struggle and loss. Learning to love and trust again does not come easy and given her past as I read her story, my heart pulled for her to find a way to open up.

Cooper, well fame comes at a price, and Cooper becomes the living embodiment of that; a man surrounded by people who see him as commodity, people who see the star but not the man.

I adored how as these two shared their stories it becomes clear how their experience wove them into the people they have now become and how much of their prior experiences pulled them together. Though Cooper and Tessa come from different worlds they soon learn they have a shared dream; no I will not tell you what the shared dream is…for that you need to read the book.

As Chasing Dreams develops I fell in love with Cooper and Tessa and so many of the secondary characters. I was engrossed in the story and did not want to put it down.
Cooper and Tessa’s journey is affected for good and bad by those around them and for me that felt so true to real life.

Oh speaking of secondary characters I love Havoc and Harmony; Tessa’s dogs.

The end of the this story was so well done; it grabbed my heart and did not let go. For me it was true to the characters created and it made it clear to me Ms. Edwards is an author to watch in the future as she truly understands how to develop characters, make them feel real and get the reader to love and root for them!

This is the kind of story that when you are done you will be thinking about for days after. Ms. Edwards has created characters that live in my head; ones that I so want to know about… so yes I can’t wait of Devil’s Bend book 2

Ms. Edwards has yet again written a book (without a cliffhanger ) that makes we want to read more about this cast of characters.

So Ms. Edwards, please write Dalton’s story, or Jack or Adam; heck please write about them all.

This book was a bit of a slow starter at first. Some books pull you in right off the bat. This one took a bit longer for me.

Around 40% I started getting into it more & more. One underlining theme that I loved about this was "Chasing Dreams" I can totally relate to that personally too. And I loved seeing the aspect of that used throughout the story.

I thought Cooper Krenshaw was a sweetheart. He's this famous country music star and he ends up just taking off from Nashville getting away from it all for a more simpler life and comes to Devils Bend reconnecting with his friend Adam from college who is Tessa's brother that helps runs the "Rusty Nails" bar.

Slowly but surely they begin to fall in love. I thought the love story between them was sweet. I think they make such a good match balancing each other out. Tessa helps keeps Cooper grounded. While I think he helps bring her out of her shell & to crack through all the emotional walls she's put up.

I liked Tessa. At the same time, she was a bit frustrating sometimes.. There's moments where it felt like it was pretty much pulling teeth with this girl one by one because she had such a barrier up against her heart & emotions. Understandably so after what she's been through in her past & past relationships concerning her late husband Richie & asshole Chad. But sometimes I just wanted to shake her to open up already! lol

As always Nicole Edwards always delivers on the hot sexy scenes. Never a disappointment there! I've loved all her books from the Club Destiny & Alluring Indulgence series so far. Although those books are even naughtier & hotter. This one which was more of a contemporary romance than erotica was still very good as well. 4 STARS!

I am a huge fan of Nicole Edwards other series Club Destiny and Alluring Indulgence, actually Rebecca recommended them to me. However, the Devil’s Bend Series is very different from the other series. It is a Contemporary Romance, but there are still steamy scenes, that are very hot. I was a little scared going in that I may not like Chasing Dreams like I like the others, but like always Nicole Edwards does not disappoint! With all of her books and characters, I feel myself getting heavily invested in their stories and cannot but the books down (finished this within a day).

The story takes place in Devil’s Bend, Texas. Tessa Donovan is a widower, a middle sister to two brothers, and owner of the Rusty Nail bar. As a teenager Tessa was wild and made bad choices. She believes that everything bad that happens to her later on in life, which is a lot, is because of her past actions. Tessa has a hard time trusting and opening up to others because of her past experiences. She is also afraid to let anything good into her life for a fear of losing it. Copper Krenshaw is a famous country singer, who is unhappy where his career and life are at and with his management. After a concert in Chicago he decides to take off and ends up in Texas, having a college roommate Adam, one of Tessa’s brothers, that lives in Texas he reaches out to him. Adam gets Cooper to preform at the Rusty Nail. This is where Cooper and Tessa first meet and there is an immediate attraction on both sides. Tessa fights the attraction and constantly tries to run away but Cooper keeps trying to break her down. Both characters have a hard time opening up to others and trusting them because they were both burned in the past. Can they learn to open and give love a chance?

Not only were the main characters very likeable, but the supporting characters were too, and I can't wait for them to get their own books. Looking forward to Dalton's book.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE !!!!

Lucky I finished and lucky I went 2 stars. The girl gets hit by Chad and thinks her jaw might of been broke but drives away and no one checks on her or arrests Chad. Stupid.

Also Tessa ran away so often before anyone could explain. Dumb and hard to read.
This book had great components to a good story; cowboys, country stars, and a bar, plus other good characters.

this was very good. it was slow in the beginning but i think i was waiting for this book to follow the dirty sexy pattern of her other series that i have read and enjoyed (club destiny and alluring indulgence). once i put those other series out of my mind, i started to enjoy this one much more. yes, it has bits of naughty language and hot sex but the storyline did not revolve around sex like her other books. i liked it and will read the next book.

Cooper = sexy cowboy country singer
Tessa = sexy country girl

Tessa owns a bar. Cooper performs in said bar and catches the pretty lady's eye across the bar.

Everybody has a past. Can they get over their past to realize they can accomplish their dreams together??

This book is very sexy. I LOVE the steamy scenes.

BUT. It's very predictable.

If you're in the mood for a light, sexy read, this is the book for you.

It took me a little while to get into this book. There was a lot of stuff I liked like the hot lovin. But I don't know, there was too much character thought process in the beginning that was kind of boring. It did pick up though, I wonder who the next book will be about. I will read the next one hut I'm slightly disappointed because I love this author.

4 1/2 Star Review

I love when I find an author that continuously writes in one genre but then switches it up a bit and writes in a different genre and pulls it off effortlessly.

Cooper Krenshaw is a well known country music star who is looking to hopefully slow down his famous life style by finally settling down and having a family of his own. He is missing something in his life and he is desperate to find it. Cooper is tired of the day to night lifestyle that comes with being in the limelight and decides it’s time to get away. Away from the hustle and bustle, away from the noise and camera flashes, and away from the dozens of reporters that seem to follow his every move. Not knowing where he is going he finds himself in the sleepy small town of Devil’s Bend, Texas.

Tessa Donovan loves her hometown and is secretly chasing a dream that one day she will be able to help out the people around her. Having recently lost her husband in the line of duty she has focused all her time on her bar, The Rusty Nail, and saving up the funds needed to finally have her dream of opening up an equestrian center a reality. She isn’t looking for love and she is content with the way her life is going and the direction in which it is moving but everything changes when Nashville’s finest comes strolling into Devil’s Bend like a whirlwind waiting to turn her world upside down.

Will Cooper stay in Devil’s Bend long enough to secure a future with Tessa or will the stardom and fame have him clawing his way back to Nashville leaving her alone yet again? Will Tessa finally open up her heart to love again or will the walls she built around her heart after the death of her husband remain strong and will she end up pushing Cooper back into his life back in Nashville?

Nicole Edwards brought another wonderful story about love and discovery; a story about chasing your dreams no matter what it may be and not stopping until you reach it. Chasing Dreams is so much different than Nicole’s other stories but she put the same amount of love and dedication into it as her other erotica series. She definitely pulled writing a different genre off and I can’t wait for more of what is to come in this series.

Cooper, Cooper, Cooper!!! Well Cooper is your country star and the way he wears his cowboy hats and wranglers and the southern drawl when he says darlin’ had me feeling all sorts of tingles inside and had me droppin’ my panties especially when he would say things like this….

“I’m going to fuck you. Right here in your bar. I’m going to fuck your sweet pussy until you scream for me. If you don’t want me to, Tessa, I need to know right now.”

Yep………………That had me………………….

He is sexy in every way and he is every bit a country alpha male and he won’t stop until he gets what he wants. He is kind hearted and loving and will stop at nothing to make Tessa happy. He was such an easy character to fall in love with. Cooper brought a lot of different emotions out of me there were times when I was….

Other times my heart would break for Cooper because he wanted something more, something permanent and Tessa just wasn’t there yet. My heart was heavy at times during Chasing Dreams and I was feeling like I could…..

Tessa is such a strong character and after having the love of her life stolen from her she is guarded and has built a wall around her heart that she doesn’t see anyone getting through. She doesn’t expect Cooper to change that but she knows he is different. I loved Tessa – she didn’t take his crap and she protected herself from getting hurt. She wasn’t ready for love again and although I understood why she was scared it also broke my heart that she was scared of letting go again.

The way Nicole was telling her story made my heart break because of everything Tessa and endured in such a short amount of time – but Tessa’s strength and courage and make a life for herself and chase her dreams no matter how far out of reach they were had me screaming…

Even though there were barriers around Tessa’s heart the passion between Cooper and Tessa was undeniable. It was electric and all consuming. When the two finally forgot about the world around them and the what-if’s in life it was like watching the reunion of two lovers that hadn’t seen each other for so long. When the clothes fell off it got very steamy and Nicole didn’t miss a beat with giving us things like this….

Can Tessa finally give her heart away again and discovery a new dream she didn’t realize she wanted? And what will happen when Cooper realizes that the dream he thought he was chasing wasn’t his dream after all but that his dream was always waiting for him in Devil’s Bend, Texas – will he his dream come true or will he be left brokenhearted?

Nicole Edwards did such an amazing job with Chasing Dreams and if you loved The Club Destiny and Alluring Indulgence series you are going to thoroughly enjoy Chasing Dream’s! So go grab your copy and find out if dreams really do come true.

4.5/5

Nicole Edwards has done it again and this time with a whole new Genre. She has created this amazing, captivating world that drawls you in and never lets you go even after you are done reading it. Her characters are so real they leap off the pages and her world building makes me want to go find a town called Devil's Bend for my own!! When I first heard about Nicole writing a Contemporary Romance after writing such sexy as sin Erotic novels I was a little scared that I would maybe miss the Erotic intensity in her writing but Nicole is a master and she doesn't disappoint. There is so much emotion and depth in this story and you are so caught up that you don't miss anything.

Tessa is a strong independent, feisty women that is a little broken after the loss husband. She has iron bars up around her heart and is content that way even if she is a little lonely. Then Cooper Krenshaw walks into her bar and as much as she tries to deny it she feels drawn to him.

"The guy was probably used to getting any woman he wanted, with that come hither look he'd perfected." ~Tessa
To bad she wasn't interested

Dammm it ...

"She was so interested her body was doing crazy things" ~Tessa

Cooper is sexy as sin with the voice of an Angel. He is getting Jaded with the life of a Country Music Star so he decides to take a break that leads him straight to Tessa's Bar "The Rusty Nail." Cooper has his own problems and wasn't looking for love but when he sees Tessa he is a goner..lol

“From the first time I saw her her smile spoke to my soul My heart found a home right there in the arms of my angel in blue jeans.” -Cooper

Nicole also didn't disappoint in the smexy stuff. Even though this book is not Erotic Nicole gave us what she does best, scorching-hot-melt-your-panties chemistry. Cooper even with his sweet southern drawl is an Alpha below all that take-home-to-meet-your-momma package. The chemistry between the two is undeniable.

“I’m going to fuck you. Right here in your bar. I’m going to fuck your sweet pussy until you scream for me. If you don’t want me to, Tessa, I need to know right now.”

I know Nicole was worried about the reaction of her fans to the new Genre but she really shouldn't have been because she freakin ROCKS!! Her fans are her fans because she is a true Master at what she does. She sucks you in and keeps you captivated and Chasing Dreams is no exception. I for one can't wait to see more from this Contemporary side of Nicole Edwards. Now we get the best of both worlds ;)

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

The die-hard Nicole Edwards fans who live by the kink might be a bit taken aback. CHASING DREAMS is laid back in comparison to what we have seen recently from Ms. Edwards' creative brain. BUT..... I LOVE IT!!! It is no less sexy than what she wrote before, but it has a much more mellow feel to it and a fully fleshed out atmosphere that makes for a place that is easy for anyone to feel at home at. This is more of a 'slice of life' book, than I personally have read from her before, and it really appeals to me!!

The sex in this story is fairly straight, male/female, but the level intensity and intimacy is high, so the book gets a really good scorch on!! But there is also a sweetness to it that fits this context better.

I absolutely adored both characters.

Tessa, although beaten down a fair bit, may have been afraid to depend on anyone else, but she sure wasn't afraid to depend on herself. She was pragmatic enough to work hard with the pitiful little her father left her with, but still enough of a dreamer to put money aside month after month to build on a future, she knew she had no real chance of ever realizing. That didn't stop her though...... she just kept ploughing along, helping others, but never allowing help.

From the opposite direction comes Cooper, who has followed his dream all along and has seen nothing but success and had all kinds of support along the way. He has lost the meaning of it all, the magic and the passion of his music. Controlled and managed by deadlines and media, he craves simplicity and real connections and hopes to find meaning in his new dream he has come to build in Devil's Bend.

The irony of course, is that two people are chasing the same dream from opposite ends of the spectrum. One from a position of privilege, while for the other the dream would always have been just that.......a dream.

This book read like a warm, blanket in front of an open fire...........sitting naked on a bearskin rug!!
Warm and fuzzy, yet sinfully sexy!!!

Kudos Nicole Edwards!!! I want more of these!!! ❤️❤️❤️

✨A spicy, compelling, country stunner!✨

I associate Nicole Edwards with steamy, erotic romances. So when I heard that her new series would be contemporary romance, I wondered how someone so good at kinky erotica could manage to reign herself in. Turns out she does it just as beautifully. Not kinky, no. But oh so sexy and very very sweet.

Chasing Dreams is the story of Tessa Donovan and Cooper Krenshaw. Tessa owns a bar in small town Devil’s Bend, Texas. While she hosts wonna-be country music singers at her bar once in a while, she’s surprised to hear that the Cooper Krenshaw is going to perform at her bar. Cooper, one of the hottest artists in Country Music is in Devil’s Bend, and since he know’s Tessa’s brother, he’ll perform at their bar.

From the moment Cooper sees Tessa, he’s mesmerized. But once he starts hanging out with her he’s a goner. Sweet, beautiful but tough as nails Tessa. She’s not interested in a relationship. Especially not one with a celebrity in town on a break. But Cooper is tired of the celebrity life, wants to go back to what he loved most, what made him love music so much, his roots, the fans, and yes, small town bars where it all started.

I really enjoyed reading about these two. As a closet country music fan (guess that secret’s out…) I loved that he was not a rockstar like all the other books I’ve read. That though he had rockstar status, he was a small town country boy at heart – looking to re-connect with himself again. I also loved that she wasn’t swooning after him. That she was just different. She wanted what she wanted, hoping that no complications would interfere. With all these subtle but important differences, I found the book a breath of fresh air.

And we definitely have to talk about the author’s erotica side. Was it completely tamed? Luckily not! Well, as you can see from the excerpt ;) While it was much much tamer that what we’re accustomed to, it was also very sexy, sensual, sweet, angsty and just what the doctor ordered after my previous uber kinky book :)

A sweet heartwarming story that comes highly recommended.

4 stars!

I'd like to thank the author for providing this copy for my review.

I absolutely loved Nicole Edwards’ new book “Chasing Dreams” (Devil’s Bend). The story revolves around a huge country music star, Cooper Krenshaw, and a hometown girl from Devil’s Bend, Texas, Tessa Donovan, the owner and operator of a small bar called “The Rusty Nail.” Tessa’s life has been filled with ups and downs. She lost her husband, Richie, after being married only 15 months. He was a policeman and died in the line of duty. As if that was not enough, Tessa got herself mixed up with a man who treated her terribly and spread false rumors about her. Cooper feeling unsettled and disconnected in the height of his career, decides to make a big change in his life and to start chasing a dream of a completely different nature. He walks off the big stage and travels to Devil’s Bend to help out his old college friend, Adam, find talent for the family’s bar. Upon Cooper’s arrival at the Rusty Nail, the sparks begin to fly between Cooper and Tessa. Each of them, however, have secrets that they are hiding. Cooper is immediately attracted to Tessa, secretly calling her “his angel in blue jeans!” Tessa feels the attraction to Cooper, but decides love is not in the cards for her, and considers having a “sexual” relationship with Cooper, without becoming attached. The chemistry is hot between these two, but it is definitely not a smooth sailing road. There are many obstacles which continues to pull them apart. What will the future hold for this dynamic couple – well you will just have to read this book to find out. I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

4.5 Sexy Stars and another Nicole Edwards hit!!!

First, let me start by saying that I was a little surprised that Nicole Edwards (Queen of hardcore Sexy and Menage perfectionist) was writing a Contemporary Romance. I think all of us that read Chasing Dreams knew we would love it but didn't expect to love it AS MUCH as her Erotica series. I feel in love with this story and the characters and CANNOT wait to read about the rest of the Devils Bend family. Chasing Dreams is the perfect mix of heartbreak, romance, love, and Nicole Edwards sexy lol and I reccommend it to EVERYONE!!!

The story of Tessa and Cooper melted my heart and quickly became a book hat I just could not put down. Tessa is a bar owner and Cooper is a country music star who happens to be good friends with her older brother. Not sure of what he wanted anymore out of life, he heads to Devil's Bend to figure it out. The last thing expected was to be knocked off his feet by Tessa.

Tessa suffered a loss most dont bounce back from and just knew Cooper wasnt going to be sticking around. She had been a bar owner/ bartender ever since her father died and she had seen many people pass through those doors. Why would Cooper be any different? What could Devils Bend offer a man who can literally have the world at his fingertips? And why did he give her stomach butterflies with just the smallest touch?

Things are HOT in Devil's Bend!

In this first book in the Devil's Bend series, Chasing Dreams, we are treated with the story of Tessa and Cooper. Tessa and her brother Adam own The Rusty Nail, a bar left to them by their father. Adam is in charge of the entertainment and brings in his old college roommate, Cooper Krenshaw. Cooper is now a huge country music star. But having been in the limelight for so long, Cooper is looking for the slower life againa and finds that in Devil's Bend. What he also finds is the beautiful blonde sister of Adam.

Tessa has had a life filled with heartache and isn't ready for a man in her life, much less one as famous as Cooper Krenshaw. When it appears that Cooper isn't going away and that he has stolen Tessa's dream out from under her, can she let go of the past? This is a sexy happily ever after that will have you cheering from the very beginning for these two characters.

My favorite character in the book, however, is Tessa's brother Jack. I cannot wait for his story because he is hell on wheels and I'm already in love with him.

Even though Nicole Edward's website shows Alluring Indulgence and Club Destiny as being crossover series, I have found that all of her books are somewhat connected. Not that you have to read them all to understand the stories, in fact you don't even have to read both AI and CD if you don't want to and you'll still understand all the books in whichever of the series you decide to read. Anyway, for my own benefit and because I love her books, I decided to go back and read the author's books in order they were published. That means skipping back in the order to read the Devil's Bend and Unhinged stories as I was done with the AI and CD books that have been written to this point.

All that to say that I loved this book. I could mostly see where this story was going, but I was happy to be along for the ride. Since I did read the AI books, I was glad to get to know Cooper and Dalton better and I'm looking forward to Dalton's story. I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel type story on Izzy and Eric either. Edwards' books are always sexy, funny, sweet, and steamy. All good things.

3.5 rounded up to 4. Another good romantic read with a sexy famous cowboy singer and a young widow down on love (sounds like a country song). Cowboy singer is a college friend of the girl's brother with whom she owns a bar. Cowboy singer is tired of the fame and limelight and wants a quieter life and is looking at Devil's Bend, Texas where the girl and her brother have their bar. He comes to sing at the bar one night and sparks fly.

The relationship gets hot (and steamy) in a hurry but the getting to know about each other part takes a lot longer and necessitates a lot patience on both sides. I really liked the cowboy singer. He was down to earth, knew what he wanted and stuck to his guns (pun intended). She was a tad too wishy washy every once in awhile, but she had a lot of hurt in her life so it was understandable. Nice read.

Nicole Edwards is known for her ability to give her readers erotic romance that will have you re-reading scenes over and over, it will have you wake the hubby (or wish you had one). This was a beautiful and touching story. In true Nicole Edwards fashion, the love scenes did not disappoint. I was in love with these characters and the story that made me hope they find the dreams they are chasing. I wanted them to have their happily ever after. In this book, you aren't left with a cliffhanger that makes you want to throw your kindle across the room . To me, that's HUGE! I was introduced to other characters that I know I will learn more about in future books. I was sad to finish this book, but I know, more is to come. Thank you Nicole Edwards, for this beautiful story.

4-4.5 Solid Stars

OK, I LOVE Nicole Edwards and this book was very different from her usual books/stories and it was a refreshing change-up. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE reading everything she writes and believe me the Club Destiny and Alluring Indulgences are FANTASTIC, this was just a really different take from her and it was a great mix up:) The story for me started a bit slow but once it picked up (about the 40% mark) the story took off and was great! I LOVED Cooper and Tessa and look forward to reading about more of the many characters we got to meet, like, Adam and Jack, wink, wink and OH can't forget about Dalton and hmmmm maybe Katie, wink!!!

3.5 'Yee-Hawing' Stars

Though I enjoyed the story, i found that it got repetitive at times. The issues that Tessa created in her mind had me rolling my eyes several times over.
Tessa was portrayed as this strong and resilient female and half way through the book became this wishy washy mush that cried over the smallest thing.
Cooper on the hand I enjoy. His search for something more and wanting to find a home is refreshing. Call me, Cooper if it doesn't work out w/Tessa.

Sex scenes: mild

Do hope here is a story for Dalton and Katie and Tessa' brother Jack.
