21/11 - Picked this up for free from allromanceebooks.com and while it wasn't too bad I'm still glad it was indeed free. The website included quite an extended excerpt on the book's page and that was the best part of the whole book, once you get past the excerpt it goes downhill pretty fast. The appearance of editing disappears (as if that excerpt was edited and nothing else) and the writing style became very simplistic. Lots of short sentences that started with he or she and repetition of words, like in this paragraph from location 124
'He watched her as she took the last child into the room and wondered how long she would stay in there this time. He knew they would never allow him into the room, so he would have to wait until she got hungry. He would get his chance then.'
That's a lot of uses of the words he and would, made worse by the way the Kindle formatting lined all those woulds up at the far left alignment, one after another.
I thought the idea was quite good, but it was let down by the writing and editing. If I thought the writing and editing was going to be better I could be enticed to read something else by Persaud, but not going to read another if there's a whisper of editing problems.

Quick, easy shifter / human romance, Lucien the yummy alpha of his pack and loved to prove to Lanie that he was the perfect mate. As a human his wolf’s desires were to much to handle so he had to seduce her as a man. He seduced her similarly to how the cover of this novella did me ... lol

The author put a lot of warning with regards to the content of this story and if you're looking for something arousing and highly sensual with a paranormal touch, this is it!
I'm a fan of shifter novels cause I can't resist a sexy alpha. Given that it's a short story, I knew what to expect when it comes to the pace, characters, and erotic couplings.
I obviously enjoyed it cause I wanted to know how Lanie would acknowledge what she's really feeling. Lucien is aggressive because that's the Alpha's nature and he does things the only way he knows how. He gets to the point. I liked that they did "couple" things together and Lucien was sweet and caring. I didn't even mind the time frame when they fell in love. I believe in instances of knowing your one true love by instinct.
The scenes between them were really hot and Ms Persaud really built up the tension between them. Their intimate times together were both passionate and primal. I liked Lanie cause she's kickass. There was a slight misunderstanding between them when it came to Lucien's intentions but that would be resolved through the direct way.
I'm looking forward to reading the next! This is a good start of a series.

This story made no sense. It was rushed and everything was over-explained. The premise is promising, but everything needed to slow down. As it stands right now, it's not very good.

A pretty easy read. Lucien is a Alpha of a pack that has some old ways, a rule or two set up the the previous alpha. The biggest is the dislike of mixing humans with wolves.. it taints the line. But said line is thin and weak sooo....
Laine.. is on summer vaca, and spending it with her brother and his wife that just had a set of triplets. Laine is quiet sassy, independent and seems to make friends.
When Lucien catches her scent.. her look... just her he knows that Laine belongs to him.... one small thing Laine is human..
so we have some hot sexy scenes scattered through the pages, we have a plot, a bit of jealousy... always keep in mind .. the Alpha's word is law.. enjoy

This was a short enjoyable erotic story.
Big bad Alpha Lucien, finally meets his mate and she is the only one that can make him laugh and he hasn't done that in a long time, but she also gives him a run for his money!
The little science teacher is not going to give in so easily to the big bad sexy wolf, no matter how much he makes her sigh!
Will his pack accept her, but more important will the counsel accept their mating....They have plans, that don't include a human teacher and the betrayal begins.

I am not sure how I feel. . It was mashed and rushed like she had to finish in so many pages which ruined the story. I am little curious but not enough to buy the rest. So much more could have made the story better. The younger crowd, the singles and interaction with her family they were just left out.

Rough read this was. It was alright but needs lots of work because it doesn't flow and at times seems rushed and jumpy. If not free I don't think I would've finished it. Not bad enough for a refund but not worth paying above $1.

A really good story, I enjoyed all of the interaction between Lainie and her Alpha and his pack. The relation was fast and sweet, a very good read.

2.5 Cocktails
I was intrigued by the idea of this book, people from two different cultures being intensely drawn to each other even though one culture might object. The fact that the cultures in question happen to be werewolf and human added a touch of flare.
After a somewhat confusing and rough start, we got to know Lucien and Lanie a little bit. I say confusing because the book opens with Lanie walking into a restaurant then being spotted and immediately pursued by Lucien. The lack of lead in and the way he approaches her seemed very rushed to me. Their whole romance seemed very rushed as they took very little time getting to know each other. Lucien’s falling in “love” so fast almost made sense when factoring in the animal side of his nature. Lanie’s reactions to him didn’t ring as true for me.
I also struggled with the lack of resolution to issues raised by the author. At one point Lanie’s sister-in-law discusses the werewolf curiosity about human women and that makes Lanie cautious of Lucien, but she never discusses this with him. There were several other instances like that. They may not have been crucial to the plot, but I wish they had been resolved.
Once our hero and heroine are together, there seems to be more plot development and the book gets better. I really think the author would have been better served by expanding the length of the book to create more of a plot in the first half and to expand the plot in the second half. The sudden ending that leads to the next installment of the series was also off-putting.
The biggest thing to recommend this book is the amount and quality of sexy time between Lucien and Lanie. If the rest of the book was written to the same standard, this would have been a book/series that I would have wanted to invest more time in.

To be fair, this wasn't the worst book I've ever read. It's really not very good though. The style of writing and the characters are very immature. They read like highly excitable twelve year olds. They have no depth at all and I found Lanie to be highly irritating. I kept hoping she'd get mauled to death. Lucien isn't really a character at all. He has no real personality but seems to be there merely to give Lanie something to get excited about and to agree with her whenever she wants him to.
The book doesn't contain a lot of spelling/typing errors (yay) but it's still poorly written. The constant jumping viewpoints with no warning (not just with the two main characters but with any character that passes by) is jarring. Particularly when someone speaks and then someone else's viewpoint is tacked onto the end of the same paragraph. There were times when I had no clue who was saying what. The book rushes from one scene to another, never exploring anything in depth. There isn't much action, mostly just posturing. The shifter side of things is never really explored. Lucien only turns into a wolf once and immediately goes for a run (we don't go with him).
The book is a little too obsessed with sex to be a romance. Even by romance standards, the story is very short on plot. Yet, it's just not interesting enough to be erotica. The sex scenes were fairly routine. I'm not sure where that leaves it. I was by turns bored and annoyed with this book. I generally find cliffhangers irritating (and don't buy any more books from any author that includes them). This one wasn't much of a cliffhanger, probably because I really didn't care what happened next. I was just glad I'd reached the end. If it hadn't been so short, I wouldn't have bothered finishing it.

But the love she has for her brothers new family trumps everything else. Till one day she see's Lucien. But he soon realizes that a human woman is a lot different that a werewolf and he will have to pull out al the stops for Lanie.
As Lanie spends more time with Lucien she finds herself falling in love, but she knows that a werewolf won't mate with a human so they have no future. The birth rate of werewolf pups have been declining and finding ones true mate has gotten less and less common so Lanie knows that the right thing to do is to move on without Lucien. But Lucien won't take no for an answer he doesn't care about rules, as far as he is concerned he is the rule maker. As Lucien sets out to claim Lanie others aren't so happy and want to stop them before they even really get started.
This was a pretty good werewolf romance I liked Lanie and Lucien a lot I just wished that we had gotten more of them and their story in this book, especially sense the next book in the series isn't about them. This is a super quick read, no great-shakes but the author doesn't add a lot of filler and just gets down to it.
Lanie is staying with her brother and sister-in-law to help with their new-born triplets. She's also discovered (and seems to take in stride) that her brother is that werewolves are real and her brother was turned and is mated to a shifter.
When she walks into a restaurant frequented by shifter she immediately gains Lucien's attention. The alpha of nearby pack, he knows she's his mate even though she's human. He happily begins his pursuit of Lanie.
This was enjoyable as a quick freebie. Subsequent books are in the 2.99 range for well under 100 pages so not sure I'll continue unless the price drops or they become available on Kindle Unlimited.

Not much to say on this one. I read this book late in the night and finished it in one sitting, so really it was a easy read. The hero was a horny,possessive,blunt,alpha and yet I still found him okay. The heroine wasn't hard to deal with and even though she was kind of passive,she still had a little sass in her that balanced it out. The only thing that I did not like about this story is how fast the romance was. Personally I like my stories to be fast paced not slow ,but this book kinda needed to slow down just a bit. Rushed romance is why I'm giving this a solid 3. Was it enjoyable? Yes. Could it have been better? Absolutely!

Err, well, it has a nice cover, and an enticing blurb. Unfortunately, this one didn't come up to my expectations (hopes). This was a book that told a story, rather than immersing the reader in it by drawing you into the characters with rich description and emotion. I found this a good story, but it didn't pull me in. I finished it last night, and I don't even remember the name of the female lead. Enough said.

I know it was free on Amazon but I thought it was badly written even if there was some heat between the two characters. They had chemistry when sex was involved and that was the only good thing in this short book. There's better paranormal erotica/romances out there so keep searching for your next read.

I read this for the cover alone! On my Were Scale of Hotness- 2 stars. Lucien was hot no doubt but the story was luke-warm and not well written. I can only hope since this is book one in the series that Persaud was warming up and that Book 2 will be better. There is a lot of potential with this series if she can capture it in her story.

No depth, storyline was all over the place. A lot of guessing with what was meant plus really sappy dialog. Not to mention it's a cliffhanger and it wasn't good enough for me to want to see where it goes. Needs better editing and so much more of an involving storyline. Needless to say I won't be reading anything more from this author.

It's an OK novella. It didn't rank high in any of the elements of erotica. It felt like it was whimsical, their love, since they fell in love like, two days after meeting. It just escalated way too fast for my liking.

Maybe 1.5 stars, rounded up, but really not a great read. Several complaints:
* Grammar. Distracting amounts of errors (or maybe the errors were just distractingly obvious, if not necessarily numerous). Either way, needs a good proofreader.
* I'm all for a good Alpha character, but Lucien was irritatingly pushy and caveman-ish. Maybe this is tied into my next complaint...
* Rushed, rushed, rushed. If you're going to write a novella, then streamline your story a bit. This just had way too much crammed into a small number of pages. Things were brought up, then never mentioned again. Alternatively, just expand it into a full novel. Give yourself the space to develop the characters or plot points that you've brought into this world.
* Lanie was kinda juvenile to me. Maybe tied to the rushed feeling again? Insta-love is more believable for me with the shifter characters (more animalistic natures, maybe?) but it felt kinda out of character how quickly Lanie came around to Lucien's advances.
In short, a steamy quick read, plus free on Kindle when I found it, but it definitely needed some good editing for both story and grammar. Maybe with some more experience Persaud could develop something more solid (I'm kinda curious what she'd do with Kane's story, honestly) but this one was pretty generic and not really worth a reread. Wolf shifters!!
I enjoy reading shifter books, especially when it's from an author that I've never read before. I've found that when it comes to writing about shifters, anything goes.

This book was a good read. An Alpha wolf shifter and a human meet, end up falling in love, and they becoming mates. Yet some members of his pack are upset with his choice of a mate; she's an independent, feisty, makes their usually quiet Alpha, laugh and smile. Oh and she's a human. Their wolf population slowly decreasing and the Pack wants him to mate with a wolf so he will have pups. But the Alpha, and only Lucien, will choose his mate, and it won't be a favorable choice to the whole pack.
When Lucien mates with Lanie, he upsets some members of the pack and they decide to retaliate. But they don't expect Lucien to have an unexpected ally.

I really enjoyed this book. Lucien has been looking for a mate among the pack for ever but none of the females interested his wolf. That is until he meets Lanie. Her brother had been bitten years by a shifter and was one of the few that were able it live through the transformation. He found is mate and is the same clan as Lucien and this is how Lucien met Lanine.
The pack elders had been wanting him to find a mate as the new Alpha and were frustrate with his lack of finding one. There was some conflict about Lucien claiming a Human as a mate, but Lucien being the Alpha could change the rules. How is Lanie going to perform and react to being to female Alpha of the clan. How is the clan going to react. What will happen when her life comes into danger.
