A Joss and Braden Novella

Braden Carmichael never imagined he’d fall as hard and as fast as he did for Jocelyn Butler. He also could not have anticipated how difficult it would be to convince her to give in to love. But now that he has her, he’s never letting go. He’s got it all planned—the passionate proposal, the dream wedding, the sexy Hawaiian honeymoon—even the perfect family they’ll start.

After trying to flee from her painful past, Joss is finally allowing herself to embrace the future. But when things start moving faster than she anticipated, she finds herself panicking over something Braden can’t understand. After everything they’ve been through, Joss is sure that their love can survive even her worst fears. But, this time, she may push Braden too far—and risk losing everything all over again…

Braden Carmichael one of my first and favorite book boyfriends! I was so happy when I saw we were getting a Braden (and Joss) novella! On Dublin Street is an amazing read and you must read it before reading this.

Braden and Joss are both so funny and cute together! I just adore them!
“You’re my everything. You know that right?”
“You don’t need to sweet-talk me to get sex, babe.”
My eyes smiled. “Well that kind of knowledge could have saved me months of uncomfortable expressions of love.”

After the wedding, honeymoon etc, things aren’t perfect between the two. They go through many different obstacles and emotions. It’s not all sweet and happy, there is some sadness, a big misconstruction of a situation, but there are a lot of laughs and love, too.

The steam between Braden and Joss was still there and as hot as ever. Three words- Best Shower EVER.

A quick review for a quick read. There was some sweet, sexy, funny and a little drama into the mix. A great addition to the ODS series, with a beautiful couple I love!

My Thoughts:

ღ BRADEN!! and Joss of course...sooo amazing! If you loved them before, you will really love them after reading this. There is just no other couple like them.

description

ღ For most of the book, I was happy, smiling and sighing and oh mying!! I loved all the romantic things (the black cab ~sigh~) but I really liked the sexy things! (The airport scenes were great!)

ღ But...I really was NOT expecting "it". As soon as the first "bout" happened, my stomach dropped and I just knew, knew...well, you'll find out soon enough!!
description
ღ I just wasn't prepared for how Braden acted!! How could "he" of all people act that way?! Don't get me wrong, I get it but still...it was very hard to read!

ღ Thanks goodness for Ellie and Liv and having some sort of breakthrough/break down because I just didn't know how much more I could take!

ღ Thankfully, there's a silver lining! (get it?) Pheww...much better now.

ღ Overall, loved it! The ONLY bad part is it was too short...well, make that two, the book seemed a bit choppy when it switched scenes but I can live with that. Thank you, SY, for giving us another book about my favorite couple! xx

Braden fought a smile. “Have I ever told you how much I love that filthy mouth of yours?”

In this novella we finally saw what happened after the end of “On Dublin Street”.
From Braden’s proposal in the same taxi they met (isn’t that sweet?), to the wedding and with a little of their married life, we can finally read what we always have wanted to read.

description

And no, we don’t miss the steam that we got used to un the first book.
They’re hot as ever!! :D

This will be a short review for a short story: I loved it. Yeah, that’s basically it.
I loved their book and Braden is on my book-boyfriends top so I knew I was probably love it, so this wasn’t much of surprise.
If you’re a fan of this series, you can’t miss Castle Hill.

I am a mad fan of On Dublin Street, obsessed with anything and everything to do with one of my top book boyfriends ever – the Fuckhot Scot, Braden Carmichael. Damn, I love this man! He is confident, sexy, has a Scottish brogue and, yes, he is fuck-hot.

“Am I hot now?” he asked, his voice low and rumbling with arousal as his fingers slipped beneath my panties.
I arched into his touch, bracing my hands on his chest. “Baby, you don’t know how to be anything else.”

See – even Joss thinks so *dreamy sigh*.

But I digress. This is not all about Braden, it’s also about Joss, and gives us a peak into the events of their life after On Dublin Street. With a proposal, a wedding (with my man in a kilt no less!), a tropical honeymoon and their return to real life, there is lots of blissful swooning and ample opportunity for the epic banter, teasing, laughter, swoon and steamy hotness that I have come to expect from this couple.

“Now walk into the bedroom , lie on your back on the bed, stretch your arms above your head, spread your legs, and prepare to take me. Hard and deep.”

Ummmm… YES PLEASE!

And then there's this whole shower scene.... Sorry, getting sidetracked again.

I loved seeing the change in Joss. She has dealt with a lot of her issues and become a lot more confident in herself, and being with Braden, and surrounded by their friends and family, she is a very different person from the girl we met at the beginning of this series, and that was beautifully reflected in this story.

While I was hoping this was going to be a gloriously happy, swoony gush-fest of a novella, sadly there is some drama thrown in – yes, the dreaded ‘drama for the sake of drama’ (*sigh*), and while the cause of it all was certainly not a surprise, the fall out definitely was, and I was saddened by it. It appears my perfect man may not be so perfect after all! And most of it, I thought, felt completely out of character for him. Not that I created him, but I do feel that my love and absolute devotion to him affords me a sense of ownership, and I just didn’t think that my Braden would behave the way he did. I was irritated and wanted to give him a smack. Actually they both deserved a smack at one point. Ugh.

But the beautiful romance between these two, and their absolute devotion to each other pulled me through the hard times, and it’s all wrapped up in a swoonily happy ending.

“There is not a moment that passes where you don’t make me feel more alive than I ever thought I could, and today you gave me something I thought was lost a long time ago for the both of us. You’ve given me peace, babe. You’ve given me everything.”

Braden Carmichael remains a top book boyfriend for this reader. He wore a kilt…enough said!

This novella had it all for me. There was steam (written to perfection) I loved the shower scene, the airport bar scene, well you get the gist of it. There were tender moments as well as some truly funny and truly heart breaking scenes.

This couple has come a long way and readers will swoon and get a bit nervous by some realistic miscommunication. (Usually miscommunication drives me crazy and sometimes feels like a filler in a book.)Samantha Young wrote a believable story. I sure hope there will be more of Braden and Jocelyn in the future.

"Life isn't perfect, we aren't perfect, but I'm telling you now, Jocelyn, we're indestructible."

Overall, a must-read for fans!

Castle Hill is a short but sweet novella that follows Braden and Joss after the events of On Dublin Street. You get a glimpse into his perfect proposal, the wedding, and what married life is like for the two of them. As usual, no marriage is perfect and there are misunderstandings and angst along the way.

My Thoughts
I loved it! I have really missed Braden and Joss and it was so much fun to catch up with them =) The banter between the two of them was hilarious and Joss and Braden are HOT together. Seriously, this short story reminded me of why Braden is one of my all time favorite book boyfriends!

Overall, if you enjoyed On Dublin Street, you are going to love Castle Hill!

Memorable Quotes:

*"You're my best friend. My everything. I love you and I want to be with you always. Marry me. I promise to try not to fuck it up if you promise to try not to fuck it up.

*"If you're wondering if I'm sober enough to fuck but drunk enough for it to be especially hot, the answer is yes."

Castle Hill was a perfect catch up with one of my favorite couples, Braden and Joss. Getting to witness their most important moments filled me with joy.

On Dublin Street we were fast forwarded to Braden and Joss’ wedding and didn’t get to see the beautiful proposal or what happened after the wedding. Seeing all of that in this novella brought back every reason why I loved this couple so much in the first place. Their sizzling chemistry, intense passion and their desperate love that they share is addictive, and a sheer pleasure to witness. As usual they can’t get enough of each other, but as with any normal couple, not everything is smooth sailing. When you love someone so intensely they have the power to make you immensely happy, but also, hurt you deeply.

Joss having lost all of her family makes her deathly afraid to lose anything precious in the future. She’s been working through that fear and has come a long way as evidenced by letting Braden and Ellie in so thoroughly, but that doesn’t mean she’s all the way cured. The idea of having children is something that sends her into a panic and this hurts Braden. One misunderstanding leaves their hearts battered and bruised, but we know they’ll find a way to work things out!

With a little bit of angst to make their HEA all the more sweet, this novella was perfectly lovely! *sigh*

Favorite Quote:
“I love you, you love me, our family loves us and they’re right here beside us. Nothing else matters. So no fears for the future, no fear that you’ll f*ck it up beyond repair. Life isn’t perfect, we aren’t perfect, but I’m telling you now, Jocelyn, we’re indestructible. Stop shaking, and just marry me.”

It was wonderful to catch up with Braden and Joss again; see Braden's proposal, their subsequent marriage and their honeymoon. Braden is still shit-hot and Joss is finally allowing herself to be fully happy. Of course, just when you think all is well in paradise, drama ensues.

I really had fun reading this novella. This is definitely a must-read for all ODS fans.

As much as I love every book in this series, nothing compares to Joss & Braden. This novella was just the icing on the cake.

"But Braden knew I loved him.
Sometimes I wondered, though if he knew how much. I wondered if he knew that just watching him sleep made me scary happy, breathless even. I wondered if he knew that he was absolutely, without a doubt, everything to me."

I loved how unconventionally this was written. This was chopped into segments, each event outlined. Joss still struggles with her ability to show her emotions, utterly terrified of losing it all. But Braden broke through her walls and fought like hell to force her to face her fears. But he wants more, he wants it all. He wants his ring on her finger, to claim her heart completely and to give her his name.

And just when my heart felt like it would burst, it broke. There was a moment in this story completely destroyed me. I was a mix of angry and desperate. These two had fought so hard and watching them hurt was completely devastating. This event allowed us to see just how much Joss had grown and a completely different side to Braden. I am not sure if I really loved that side, but it let him completely bare and vulnerable.

This completed their story perfectly and I can't wait to see what Samantha Young has in store for us with the rest of this series.

This was an adult contemporary romance novella featuring Joss and Braden.

Joss was okay in this, but Braden’s behaviour wasn’t as nice; totally ignoring your pregnant wife is not very nice.

The storyline in this was about Braden proposing to Joss, them getting married and going on their honeymoon, and then them finding out that they were pregnant – all stuff that was touched on in the other books, but this time was from Joss’ perspective. This was an okay story, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books in the series.

The ending to this was okay, but I’m still waiting to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl!

Can't get enough of these two, even though Braden had an asshole moment or two, and Joss started letting the old fears get to her. There's a proposal, a wedding, a (scorching hot) honeymoon...but all is not sunshine and roses (yet) with Braden and Joss. Joss is still struggling with fears that she's going to muck up the relationship, and Joss and Braden's lack of communication about what they want for their future threatens the marriage. I hated to see Braden and Josh unhappy, even though I knew they would eventually get past it. But I just love these two, and Ms. Young makes the reader realize that no matter how much these two are in love, they're going to make mistakes and have some conflict. As long as they make up that's ok with me! 4 1/2 stars

With On Dublin Street being one of my very favorite contemporary romances because of one of my top book boyfriends ever - BRADEN CARMICHAEL, I knew I had to read this novella ASAP!

We know what happens in the epilogue of ODS and I was so happy with how it ended, but I just can’t say no to more Braden. Castle Hill gives us a front row seat for all of the big moments we didn’t have a chance to see. From the proposal, to the wedding, to the honeymoon, and some after. I really love how this was set up, because there really isn’t any wasted space. There is A LOT packed into this little novella.

“Jocelyn,” his voice was rough, like he was struggling to get the words out. “You’re my best friend. My everything. I love you and I want to be with you always. Marry me. I promise to try not to fuck it up if you promise to try not to fuck it up.”

God, I love him! We get the Braden we know and love, all gorgeous, swoony, confident, sometimes “caveman” bit of him. Him and Joss are as hot as ever and I loved the sexy times (shower scene, anyone?) and the banter between them. I had massive warm and fuzzies while reading this!

“If you're wondering if I'm sober enough to fuck but drunk enough for it to be especially hot, the answer is yes."
Braden fought a smile. “Have I ever told you how much I love that filthy mouth of yours?”

There is some trouble in paradise and I have to say I did see it coming. It’s something that I feel like is very realistic to their relationship, but what shocked me was Braden. I never thought I’d see the day where I’d be mad at that man, but here it is. And boy did I feeeel it! It hurt and it drove me a little nuts, but thankfully he is my gorgeous Scot and when he eventually comes to his senses he had me gushing about him all over again. See, I really do have a problem when it comes to him.

The growth in Joss was awesome to see, she has really come full circle and I actually enjoyed being in her head a lot for this one. I felt like the way she talked herself through things made a lot of sense and I could see her growth from On Dublin Street. She can recognize her faults and also see Braden’s side to things and I really empathized with her a lot more than I did before.

I really loved this novella. I got to 87% (which is where it ended on my kindle – Geez, I freaking HATE that!) and I was so sad. I could have kept reading about these two for much longer. I also want more just so I can listen to Braden’s accent on the audio book (yep I read AND listened again)… I never thought a girl doing a guy’s Scottish accent would be hot, but oh, it is. It definitely is. I have no shame, Paula FTW!

Life isn’t perfect, we aren’t perfect, but I’m telling you now, Jocelyn, we’re indestructible.

lol I hated this.

I thought oh fun a cute little novella where I can see a bit of a glimpse into their future together. I really loved them as a couple so this should be exciting

Half this book is just the miscommunication trope and Braden acting like a dick.
Jocelyn deserved way better and I don't think he groveled enough for my liking.

It didn't even make much sense for him to react like that like he knows her past wouldn't he think maybe it would be difficult for her but no instead of letting her explain he'll just ignore her for weeks. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

3.5--Drama Filled--Stars!

I thought this was going to be like an extended epilogue....

You know...full of hearts and rainbows and flowers and weddings and honeymoons and hot sex.

Yeah....

There was a wedding. And there was a honeymoon. And there was SOME hot sex. But what happened to all of the other sex?!?! The almost airport bathroom sex for one??

Everything was fine and dandy until Joss had to

It's not like I didn't see it coming....lord knows I did. But that just led to a bunch of un-necessary drama and mis-communication. Which I

I mean Braden

So there was that.

I also found some of the dialogue a bit cheesy.

If you're a fan of the Dublin Street series then I am sure you will like this book.

Castle Hill is a novella (#2.5) in Samantha Young's contemporary adult romance series titled On Dublin Street. Each book in this series centers on a different couple's romance with cameos by past/future characters. I have enjoyed some of these books better than others but Joss and Braden's story will never get old in my opinion. Although Castle Hill is technically a novella, I consider it the ultimate epilogue for their story in the first book On Dublin Street.

Castle Hill is beautiful, lovely, romantic, incredibly sexy, and endearing...but it is also ugly, complicated, and isolating. Joss and Braden have overcome so much in their relationship but old habits die hard. I'm happy to say I was smiling at the end though. I just love their characters and will always happily read their story. If you follow this series, or even if you've only read the first book, check out Castle Hill!

Pssss...Braden wears a kilt in it. Just sayin'.

Braden Carmichael is still one of the sexiest book boyfriends ever! Just so damn hot!!! Love him!!! In this short story we get Braden's marriage proposal, the wedding, an the honeymoon in Hawaii. Braden and Joss have it together, and are finally on the same page. They are so in love, and happy and excited for their future together. They have a bit of drama, but what book isn't complete without a little angst. ;) I thought this book had a wonderful HEA & I really enjoyed it! Also loved the mention of one of my favorite bands Bastille! <3

-He was beautiful. Just looking at him caused a different kind of ache inside of me.

-I wondered if he knew that he was absolutely, without a doubt, everything to me.

-"I love you so much. Even when I didn't like you very much, I loved you completely."

Ah my Braden is in it so of course this deserves the full 5 stars. This novella is like an extended epilogue for Joss and Braden.

I thought I would be annoyed with Joss, but actually it was Braden's turn to be insecure. I loved how in such a short book I manage to feel happy, grin like an idiot, angsty and on the verge of crying.

A quick sexy novella that you wouldnt want to miss if you are a Braden fan *sighhhh*

I loved on Dublin Street and when I learned that Joss and Braden will get a novella, I was excited to read it. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me and left me disappointed.

The story was rushed and it included far too many things for its short length - the proposal, the wedding, the honeymoon, . They were not developed in depth and their presentation was rather superficial. The story is told from Joss' POV, yet it feels detached, emotionally distanced.

On the plus side, Joss and Braden are the same characters that I loved in Dublin street. Braden is sexy and cocky, somewhat possessive and impulsive but completely in love with Joss. Joss is mad about him as well, but she is still struggling with her fears and they taint some of the sweetest moments in their life.

The conflict towards the end of the book which put their marriage under stress was weak and unrealistic. The whole problem was just one giant misunderstanding due to inability to communicate on both sides.

There were some times and some sexy times but they were not enough for me to enjoy the story more. In the end I am left wondering if this novella was necessary at all or a nice epilogue to On Dublin Street would have been a better option.

I just about fell off my chair last year when I saw that Samantha Young was going to revisit one of my most beloved book couples, Paula and Paula...er....uh I mean Braden and Joss.  On Dublin Street is one new adult novel that will always stay with me beecause it was so well done. The characters, the setting, the relationship development was everything I look for in a new adult romance. Since I read it back in 2012, I have read/listened to it so many times that I can quote parts of it word for word.
"You look stunning, sweetheart, but deep breaths. This is just you and me."

For the most part, Castle Hill is a continuation of On Dublin Street and I really enjoyed it.  Young does go back and shares the big proposal and wedding scenes that we didn't get to see in On Dublin Street.  I freaking loved them. It made me positively giddy to see Braden and Joss so happy and so in love.  I always make a fuss about Braden, but I also love Joss. She is such a great character. She's a strong female character, sassy and funny, and is so much fun to read.
"I love you. You're my favorite person. And if you ever tell anyone I cried during this moment I will withhold sex for a year."

Braden Carmichael is one of the most romantic, sweet, and sexy book characters.  He stuck by Joss in On Dublin Street when all she did was push him away.  But there were times in this book where I wanted to give his beautiful face a little bit of a slap.  Instead of Joss being the screw up, Braden is the one to jump to conclusions.

All in all I loved seeing one of my favorite book couples together again. I loved seeing their sexual banter and their sexual escapades, especially the whole airport scene.   If you're worried that some of spark between them have fizzled out since we last saw them, you shouldn't be afraid. They're just as hot as they were on On Dublin Street.
I slid my arms around his shoulders as he pressed his hard body against mine. "We are so getting kicked out of first class."
His hand caressed my ass before coasting down my thigh and then back up under my dress. His talented fingers slipped beneath my panties and as he whispered hoarsely, "Then let's make it worth it."

Sure, there was a bit of manufactured drama in this book, but it worked for me.  The conflict in this book is a pretty fundamental issue for the two of them and it caused a bit of a rift between my favorite couple.  But the way the eventually worked through their issue showed growth in their relationship and made me happy for them.  Young left them in a good place at the end, and I can't wait to see glimpses of them in future On Dublin Street books!
"There will be times when we don't like each other very much, but I need you to know that I will never stop loving you."

Audiobook Comments:

Attention all authors:  Paula Costello needs to narrate more books.  Hire her.  I love Paula Costello if you didn't already know.  She is a natural at acting and performing.  She delivers Braden and Joss's lines with pure perfections, infusing her voice with the characters' personality and mannerisms.  While I have not been around many Scottish people, I think her accent is so freaking good. Her accent for Braden is just perfect.  Sometimes it's weird when a female narrator tries to make her voice sound masculine but Paula does the male voice with such finesse and ease.  I'll admit it, I'm a little attracted to Braden/Paula.  If you haven't heard Paula narrate a book, check out her narration of On Dublin Street!!

Castle Hill has us catching up with the couple that started the series. Joss and Braden.
It has been quite a while since I read "On Dublin Street".
I forgot how hot the chemistry is between these two and I dare to say I forgot how incredibly HOT Braden is.

He's almost perfect in this novella!!
Joss and Braden have come a long way.
There has been a lot of growth for Joss.
She is aware of her issues and really works hard to get through them and to refrain from shutting Braden out.

Braden is very loving, reassuring, and patient.
It's almost as if he can read Joss' every thought.
He helps her through a lot of her fears.

The couple have some huge milestones in this novella with a few really hot sexy time moments thrown in, and yes a bit of the ANGST!
Just enough to make you tense for a tiny bit.

What a perfect ending to their story but I'm sure this won't be the last we hear from Joss & Braden!!
Which is good, because I need to know that they are doing well with their new circumstances. :)

"You look stunning, sweetheart, but deep breaths. This is just you and me."

"I love you, you love me, our family loves us and they're right here beside us. Nothing else matters. So no fears for the future, no fear that you'll fuck it up beyond repair. Life isn't perfect, we aren't perfect, but I'm telling you now Jocelyn, we're indestructible. Stop shaking, and just marry me."

"You've challenged me since the day I met you. No woman has ever challenged me more. Nor made me laugh harder. There is not a moment that passes where you don't make me feel more alive than I ever thought I could, and today you gave me something I thought was lost a long time ago for the both of us. You've given me peace babe. You've given me everything."

His affection for me came so easily he touched and kissed me all the time, even when he was half-distracted. I'd gone from being uncomfortable with it, to expecting and coveting it.

"There will be times," he murmured against my lips, "when we don't like each other very much, but I need you to know that I will never stop loving you."

It felt so good to be able to catch up with Braden Carmichael. The man who single-handedly made me love On Dublin Street so much. Castle Hill gaves us their extended HEA, the wedding veils, the honeymoon and some angst filled married couple drama and another swoony ending.

Joss had come a long way but she still tends to sabotage her own happiness. Joss acting up was understandable because she is who she is. Once again Joss is afraid of losing everything she hold dear.

description

What came as a surprise was Braden's reaction this time. It seems like Mr. Perfect finally showed some flaws. I thought it was good, I want to see how he crack. Last time, no matter how Joss pushed him away, he was adamant and persistent and always managed to win her. But now, he finally was pushed over the edge and Joss might just have a hard time bringing her husband around.

Despite the marriage issue and miscommunication, I very much enjoyed this little novella and glad to see how far Joss and Braden had come since they first met in a taxi three years ago.

“Life isn’t perfect, we aren’t perfect, but I’m telling you now, Jocelyn, we’re indestructible.”

I missed Braden Carmichael like crazy!!! On Dublin Street is one of my favourite books and Braden and Jocelyn are one of my favourite book couples! Their story is beautiful, sweet and romantic! Also...a little heartbreaking but at least this novella is focused on their Happy Ever After :)

It is rather short...I just need more and more! If they are 30 books about Braden...I WILL READ THEM ALL!!

“You could charm the pants off absolutely anyone”

They deserved their happiness...they both fought for it!!

“Ah, and so it begins.”
