In my mind, I could see all the different possibilities of what was about to happen, and there was only one scenario where Chad wouldn't get hurt.

Three months ago, Nicholas Keller found out he was part of an ancient group called the Thusians. He thought his life was settling down, until his new neighbors move in. Now he finds himself taking part of an impossible search. In order to protect everyone he cares about, he must figure out who to trust.

Trust picks up where Secrets leaves off, tossing Nicholas and Elle back in to danger. The writing is clearer (perhaps due to not having to reestablish the world) and there is a nice build of anticipation about the search. Readers who liked following Nicholas in Secrets will enjoy Trust even more.

Like Secrets, Trust was an entertaining read, fast-paced and full of mystery that keeps readers turning the page. Nicholas's story doesn't seem over yet, and readers will be curious to see what his next challenge will be.

There's nothing absolutely amazing about this series, but it keeps me reading. The characters are well-developed, I'm invested in what happens to them. The author writes and the story moves at a good pace; there's no filler, no extra stuff just to fill pages. Thank goodness for that. I definitely want to know how it finishes, but probably not a story I would reread.

Grazie.

"Trust" by Tim Mettey is a fantasy story with a dash of mystery and romance blended in. Previously Nicholas Keller and his Aunt Cora had been on the run, hiding their identifies after his parents were killed in an earthquake. But, after settling in Winsor where Nicholas has found friendship and the love of Elle Canan, they have decided to stay, keeping a sharp outlook for any attack from Seekers, a sinister force that seeks power.

In this sequel Nicholas, Cora and his protectors Genevieve Pereira and Riley Moore have to unravel the mystery of the 7, of which four are Thusians. Can they outwit and find the 4th before the Seekers? Can Nicholas continue to hide his identity from Elle and his friends? Will Nicholas and Elle's love and loyalty endure the interference of others? These are only some of the questions to be resolved in the latest installment of this imaginative and riveting series.

The plot is well-written, flowing smoothly and naturally as Nicholas and his protectors face one challenge after another in their struggle not only against the Seekers, but against a Thusian Council who's trying to hinder their search.

In this story the personalities of the characters stay true to their natures but develop more complexity. Nicholas's fiery temperament emerges when he's stressed, but when called to action tends to be astute and remarkably calm. He has a humble and loving nature, but is quick to anger when Elle's feelings are at stake. Elle Canan, usually cheerful and good-natured is jealous and rebellious when her relationship with Nicholas is involved. As the romance between the pair heats up, I found it a little overpowering at times. Cora, Nicholas's aunt is protective and very perceptive except when dealing with her romantic feelings. Genevieve masks a loving, caring, self-sacrificing spirit behind a stubborn, callous and arrogant wilfulness. Riley, teacher and assistant coach appears intelligent and caring, but is very secretive.

Even the minor characters are notable including; brave and tolerant Coach Miller, sharp-tongued James Caldwell, the insecure bully Oliver Rails, and Bryce Adams who masks his true nature behind good-natured friendliness.

Blended into this fascinating page turner that keeps the reader engrossed from the first page to the last are messages about not judging people, about forgiveness, redemption and the healing power of love. I thoroughly enjoyed "Trust" and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Reviewed for Readers Favorite.

We originally met Nicholas in the first book of this series, Secrets, and this book continues the story. The secrets are now out in the open, or at least some of them and now it is a matter of who to trust and what to do to stay alive and continue life. Nicholas has started a relationship and for the first time in his life since his parents death, he and his Aunt are not moving at the end of the school year, they are staying put and continuing with life. Now they have to Trust that they made the correct decision and to learn more about the heritage that Nicholas just learned about. Tim Mettey takes the second book of the Hero Chronicles and doesn't miss a beat. This book continues the story and yet still keeps the excitement and the thrill, the reality and the story that entranced readers in the first book.

Trust follows secrets, just as in life once you learn the secrets now you need to trust what you feel and go with your heart. This book follows in such a normal and life-like pattern that, even more than the first book, the reader is pulled into the story. You can actually feel as if you are part of the story and you want to help Nicholas and to understand what is going on as much as he does. It is a wonderful story that will encourage and inspire the young adult and teen reader, and even restore faith in the youth of the day to the older reader. Tim Mettey may be a newer author, in that Secrets and trust are his first books, but he has a style and ability that will have you wanting more from him as soon as you finish this book. In fact, I was surprised to find that the author was male, in so much as I find that it is harder to find a male author that can connect so directly with the reader. There are those out there, and when you read them they become a readers favorite immediately. This author has the talent and ability to be one of those rare writer, if he isn't already and it is worth the time to read his books.

Wow what a revelation at the end. I can’t wait to see what is in store in the next book. I was not expecting several twists and turns in this story but after they happened some of them left me very shocked. Again the author has managed to write a really great book and while there were a few things that I found predictable there was others that I was not expecting at all. In this story not everyone is who they seem and that can be good or bad.

At the start of a new school year Nicholas once again has to deal with a lot of unexpected changes but for the first time he isn’t moving! He gets to stay at the same school as he was at the year before which is good for him and Elle as well as his peace of mind. Riley and Genevieve play a bigger part in this story. While of course Nicholas and Cora are still the main characters.

What I liked about this book is that the author kept the plot moving. It went in the general direction that I was expecting it to but there were several twists and turns that kept surprising me. For example the villain was not a person I would have guessed although there were several more good twists to the story that I also wouldn’t have guessed either. I also keep trying to guess who will make their final sacrifice next.

What I didn’t like as much was that Nicholas and Elle’s relationship at the beginning of the book seemed a little too perfect. They are teenagers in high school and while you do have some people who really click and get along good they are still not perfect. Towards the middle and end of the story, it seemed a lot more realistic however.

All in all still a good series to read and I will definitely continue reading it when the next one comes out.

Trust: The Hero Chronicles is the second entry in this YA series and is every bit as good as the first, Secrets: The Hero Chronicles.

It's been three months since Nicholas learned he was a part of the Thusians, an ancient group of secret guardians of mankind, destined to sacrifice their lives at any given time, to save those around them.

Book two, further develops the mythos of the Thusians, their mission and those that would stand in their way. At the same time it's about relationships, the importance of trust in those relationships and learning who to trust.

Tim Mettey does a very nice job of weaving life lesson's into his storyline. Without being heavy-handed, there are teaching moments which many YA readers can benefit from. The story itself is rather simple, with Nicholas meeting a number of challenges while dealing with the normal ups and downs of life as a teenager.

The climax of book two has several nice twists and some big surprises. One thing, I'm still trying to figure out is the Tic Tac effect. If you read the book 1 or 2, you'll understand what I mean.

If you're a younger reader, or know someone who is in middle school and up, I can strongly recommend Trust: The Hero Chronicles (volume 2), but I would consider reading book 1, Secrets: The Hero Chronicles first and, as of the posting of this review, it is available for FREE for the kindle at Amazon.com.

Tim Mettey debuted his first novel, Secrets (The Hero Chronicles Volume 1) with great success! Nicholas' story is definitely an intriguing one and in Trust, the continuation of Nicholas Keller's story Mettey creates another great work. Nicholas' character is just as amazing as ever and Mettey doesn't falter in his dynamic writing styles.

One thing I really loved about this book was the fact that like Secrets, Trust put me through the wringer. I found myself experiencing the same sensations. For example, in both books I was sure I was spot on with my predictions of what would happen in both books and both times I was shocked to find out I was wrong.

I can't say what happens but I will say that we get a deeper look into the lives of some smaller characters from Secrets, including that of Nicholas' aunt.

Trust, like its predecessor , was full of excitement, adventure, and just the right amount of plot twists to leave me saying, yes, I want more of Tim Mettey and his writing abilities.

If you read and loved Secrets, you'll love Trust even more. If you haven't, then I recommend reading them both.

Everything about this series just shines!

5 STARS!

*I received an ARC/Galley of this novel (which I adore) from the publisher!

Then there were four

This is the 2nd book of the Hero Chronicles and it picks up right where the first book left off. As Nicholas, Cora, Riley, and Genevieve search for the 4th person on the good side of the prophesied 7 things get complicated.

Excellent series for teens.
