Freezer #1-4

Freezer: The Complete Horror Series

Rate this book
A new full-length four-part thriller

By the time Eddy Mitchell discovers his gramma's freezer is cursed, it's too late. The bloodthirsty and relentless murder spree has begun.

"It was that freezer. I swear the thing's cursed. It's cursed by Hell itself, and damns whoever owns it into feeding it human flesh. It must be destroyed!"

The nightmare doesn't end with dear old gramma. In part two, his mother gets wrapped up in the mayhem and becomes a ferocious servant to Hell. In part three, Eddy wages a battle for control over his own body before everything he holds dear is destroyed forever. Lastly, in the final, cataclysmic part four, the evil has taken over his five-year-old son, Brenton, and Eddy must save the world from a demon zombie apocalypse.

FREEZER...Death is cold.

J. Joseph Wright penciled his first novel in the fourth grade, but, after failing to publish it, toiled away in obscurity until his freshman year in high school. Upon reading and, inexplicably, enjoying one of J.'s witless essays, his English Comp teacher, a man of questionable taste, recommended he write for the school newspaper. Soon J. was regaling the student body with a fantasy horror fiction column, gaining a robust early fan base, albeit from a captive school audience.

After college, J. left a highly lucrative career in television for an even more lucrative career as an author, and now writes Paranormal Romance, Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy.

My first encounter with The Freezer was in the first short story where Granmma is the first one in the family to be converted into a servant feeding the armies from hell one bloody corpse at a time.

This book is a collection of short stories and as such the action happens fast and gets more and more violent as the story advances. The sequence of family killers is: first it was Gramma, then Mom, then Son (Eddy, the protagonist) finally Grandson.

The coming of age and maturity levels Eddy Mitchell goes through is very distinctive, from the teenager that keeps getting distracted with pot and friends, to the focused father who wants to save his family and the world - in that order.

One of my favorite things was the beginning and ending of each story....My name is Eddy and my (grandma, mom, I, son) is an axe murderer.

I usually read during my lunch times and there was a scene in the final story that was so well written and icky that I couldn't eat my chicken salad anymore, any meat seemed so gross so I had to leave half of my salad uneaten.....the author owes me lunch!

The dark humor and the way the characters interact with one another had me laughing, while finding the story chilling enough for goosebumps! I couldn't put it down and read all 4 books in one night!! A great read!
