Judy Allen gives readers a thorough overview of the various mysteries and unexplained (no pun intended) phenomena that have continued to have enduring popularity over the decades. It would appeal to any teen researching one of these mysteries, or even to a teen just looking for some spooky stories to read about.

I'd promote this book to teens as part of a mystery-themed display. While many books on that display might be fiction, Judy Allen's encyclopedia would be an intregal part of the display, leading interested teens into the real mysteries of the world.

This is one of the not many books tha freak me out. I read it once and it just made me unable to sleep that night. It was freaky even to think. Have you got any idea how bad is that?

But for an encyclopedia, ist is a good one because it explains detailfully every single thing from the book. It's interesting so I have got nothing to say about it.

It's nothing special.

Most of the stories and facts are old and are in the "already knew that" category.

The encyclopedia dives deep into the unexplained and tries finding an explanation for it, although it's hard. Judy Allen really wanted us to understand the supernatural with the help of this book.

I had bought it from footpath vendor because of its beautiful pictures. I didn't like to read English books on that time. Just found it from my old stuff some days ago and i started reading it. It is very nice book collecting unexplained mysteries in the world.
It is just collection. It is not anything which will debate on explanations of such mysteries. So readers who didn't read something about this particular subject will definitely enjoy it.
It has some famous mysteries which were also not new for me but over all it was entraining experience. Some of prominent subjects are
*Misfortune of Koh e Noor diamond
*Jinxed car of James Dean
*Moving stones of Death valley
*Water monsters
*Bermuda Triangle
*Mysterious and uncaptured plain hijacker (D.B. Cooper)
*Holy Grail
*Stonehenge
*Ancient Egyptians Creations
*Atlantis
*Nazca Lines
*Crop Circles
*The Roswell Crash (Possible UFO)
*The Face on Mars.

Thats not all. You will get much more.

I didn't read earlier about such things but i can remember that two unexplained events which could be in this book but are not.
First is Mysterious disappearance and reappearance of famous Mystery writer Agatha Christie.
The 2nd thing is a bit interesting.
On 11th June 1962 3 prisoners escaped from Alcatraz Jail Facility San Fransisco. It was inescapable an still is as it was located on an island and with some other high tech facilities.
One of them was Frank lee Morris (09/01/1926).
description
This prisoner was reported to have 140 IQ. Unlike two other inmates he was never captured neither his body was found if he died. Some of his relatives still claim that they met him.
I just remember him because i saw the Clint Eastwood movie Escape from Alcatraz (1979).

Ever wondered if there really are castles that are haunted? Or people who have real, honest-to-goodness ESP? How about those strange stories about frogs falling from the sky, or if the city of Atlantis actually existed? If you've ever had questions about seemingly unexplainable events, then you should really pick up this wonderful encyclopedia filled with information on a number of mind-bending (literally!) subjects.

Divided into categories such as Hauntings, The Power of the Mind, Superstitions and Symbols, Natural Phenomena, Strange Creatures, Disappearances, Ancient Mysteries, Lost Lands and Secrets, Cures, Signs, and Skills, Lines and Labyrinths, and From Another Planet, this is the definitive book for unexplainable, and often times unanswerable, questions. Also included are a List of Phenomena By Area and a Glossary, which are very well put together and amazingly helpful.

What's most exciting about UNEXPLAINED is that almost everything you could imagine--UFO sightings, the Egyptian pyramids, El Dorado, auras, and The Bermuda Triangle--are covered in this book. Some entries have scientific facts to back up what really happens (human combustion is usually explained by ball lightning), and, when fact isn't entirely possible, by writings and documents passed down through the ages (such as whether or not Shangri-La was a real place).

For anyone who enjoys pouring over facts, and especially for those interested in the paranormal and unexplained, this is a definitive guide for your collection. A great gift for the curious, and a great read for the interested!

This book is a beautifully illustrated and diverse encyclopedia that chronicles myths and unexplained phenomenon around the world. Everything form Stonehenge and the lore surrounding cats and salt are covered. This book would be great for middle school students with an interest in the mysterious. Older students probably wouldn't like it as much, because the explanations are so brief and underdeveloped. A great resource for reluctant readers.

I learned things about strange things. I didn't know that if you break a glass while looking at it your soul breaks and takes seven years to heal. I didn't konw that sometimes it rained frogs. Also that ghost are in houses that keep coming. Also that a woman kept building a house and it had elevators. She had to keep building it because if she didn't she would die as she was told by a ghost

This one wasn't all about otherworldly things, it was a plethora of tons of "unexplained" things. The book didn't go in depth about much of it, but it definitely touched on a lot of neat ideas. There were aliens, hauntings, illnesses/remedies, superstitions, etc. It was pretty great for a small-ish (144 pages) nonfiction book!

This book is full of facts and theories about UFOs, foo fighters, full of tales of ghosts, monsters and aliens. I recommend this book to anyone who's into monsters and fantasy. i wonder if all those things do exist? And if they do, what'll happen next?

These very terse stories of paranormal activity peak interest but are not detailed enough to keep it.

The author stated that an object, usually a spoon or a fork, twists out of shape after being gently stroked, even though Physical force is not used(32). I chose this quote because it is a very interesting quote that talks about being able to bend metal with just one stroke of a hand without using any force. Unexplained by Judy Allen is about Mysterious that are yet to be solved like faces appearing in the floors of house people disappearing or randomly setting of on fire.
