I really enjoyed this book it was very cute and romantic and I am a sucker for a HEA. I loved the two main characters and how they had just met and had that instant connection. There were def parts of this book that i wasn't crazy about and wish i could of changed or added to. for starters the book was a little on the annoying side because they wanted to be together but couldn't be together but were never really apart was really driving me crazy. with that being said the author did a pretty good job without it over taking the whole book. I personally would have liked more of the together then all the emotional bullshit and added a touch more sex scenes with a tad more detail.
I also understand that Cades best friend died in war but why wouldn't his best friends wife move closer to him so they could help each other out that i found dumb.
My favorite part was the ending it summed everything up and went a little in the future which i always enjoy.
Anyway i really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a cute, romantic, happy ending love story.

Ashton she knows how to get a response out of her man, "I almost dropped the flowers and swallower my tongued when Ashton had opened the door earlier. I swore I could've fallen to my knees asking for her hand at the sight of her." Dane I loved him, "any chance I missed sex on an elevator on that list? Cause, girl, you say the word and I'll stop this thing." He doesn't like other men touching his girl, especially scum, "I almost spit my beer out with what she was wearing, and then was ready to get into a fight with Trevor with the way he held her in his arms." He loves his momma but he don't like her telling him what to do with his girl, "I asked her to marry me and she said yes, and let's not forget the fact that I'm twenty-eight damn years old. So, proper or not, Grace is sleeping in my bed with me tonight. Conversation over." He also says the sweetest things, "one quickie that's all I'm asking for." He ran his mouth down the side of my neck, ranking kisses on every spot. "C'mon, baby, say yes." I liked this book and I hope Dane's brothers get one as well.

I absolutely loved this story. Whats not to love about sexy war vet Dane (Woody) Woods? He's a little broken, like most war vets are but nothing Ashton can't fix. After spending just a short amount of time with her he realizes she is not the spoiled little rich girl he thought she was when growing up. He tries to fight the attraction, but she draws him in. She falls for the hansom stranger she met on her road trip but what will she think of him when she finds out the truth about who he really is? It's a wonderful journey that won't disappoint you. And no cliff hanger :)

I absolutely freakin loved this story! "Woody" was so yummy, sweet and sexy...I mean really, who doesn't love a southern man?!?! The chemistry was instantly there. "Every time I touch you, I feel you shiver. Every single time, Grace. I don't even know if you're aware of it, but kt does something to me..." I loved how everything fell into place for everyone and I loved the epilogue even more!

I liked this book but felt like there was something missing. I liked Ashton and Dane.. shes so independant but she needs him and hes missing his brother and he needs her just as much. They're obviously falling in love. Its so nice to read. It just wasnt as exciting as I'd like.

However overall not a bad read.

I'm not one who's really into the New Adult genre but something about this story made me want to give it a try. I LOVED it! I can't say that I didn't want to reach through my Kindle and shake "Grace" quite a few times. All in all a great read & I'm looking forward to Anabelle & Cole's story.

I struggled to finish this. Ashton sounds like a teenager, and acts very immaturely. At 22 she was still living with her daddy and needed to buy a clue about life. There was also several missing words in the book causing some confusion and bad grammar.

According to my Kindle I got about 20% into this book before I gave up. The writing just felt contrived and very simplistic.

Ok, I struggled with this one. The story line itself was decent; however, the writing sounded more like a teenager's diary and I constantly wanted to poke my eye out with the beyond horrible editing! The saving grace for this book was actually the epilogue. It was good to see what happened to the characters although it was weird having Ashton's father tell Dane to call him "Dad." Really? After the way he pined after Dane's mother even after her husband passed away. Ugh! And LuLu was just as trashy and weird as second characters come. Glad to know that she doesn't get her own book!

I loved this story! I got it from amazon and read it inside of two days... more like 24 hrs. :) Once I got past the sample excerpt that amazon let me see, I was hopelessly lost in the story.
In the beginning, I thought I was going to go crazy with all the southern country phrases; but it really wasn't so bad. I will say, all the little crazy phrases the characters use are real things I've heard (I live not far from where this story takes place)... haha!

I really liked Ashton (Grace) with how she stood up for herself except for when her Daddy was involved. I get she is a Daddy's girl but I wish she had stood up for herself and not resorted to black mail to get her way.
As for Dane he remembered Ashton from when he met her at 15 years old. He had a preconceived notion about her. When he realized how wrong he was he started seeing someone he could fall for.
Although his intentions for being with her could blow up in his face, he had to see where their relationship could go.
I loved Dane "Woody" but I wish he had a little more balls when it come to getting Ashton. He let his family dictate what he should do. They guilted him into giving her up just so they didn't lose something that meant something to them. Piss on Dane if he lost something, he could get over it.

Sweet enough, but it was boring. Two girls go off on a road trip which was just about drinking, dancing and finding someone to have sex with. In Nashville music is mentioned and in Miami they watch people roller-blading but this was the only acknowledgement of the settings. Dane, the male protagonist, was sweet but he was still a misogynist, although not as bad as Grace’s dad and fiancé. Grace/Ashton and her best friend Lulu came across as very tarty. I am all for dressing up and having fun but it doesn’t have to be in tight leather skirts with your cleavage exposed in a tight tank top while wearing FMBs.
Too many clichés, not enough originality. Plus the author needs to learn how to use commas.

sweet story; needs better editing

The story was ok overall and I appreciated that it is a standalone book. The author could use a better editor as there were some mistakes here and there. Characters shouted and hollered too much. Seemed like much of the conversations were yelled as written which did not read well. To me, it interrupted the flow of the story too much when things were “hollerred” or “shouted” in places it did not seem appropriate—I found it jarring and abrupt. I think better editing would have helped.

It was a struggle to get through this book. I couldn't stand most of the dialogue. It didn't seem like we were dealing with adults. Also, as someone from Charleston, there isn't a lot of people that still talk like that.

This book was ok. The last few chapters seem to be rushed and not thought out very well. I was definitely not a fan of the epilogue as it didn’t feel like the right ending to this book.

I was looking for a cheesy read one night so I picked up A Long Goodbye. I didn't think it would be anything that would really draw me in, but I was wrong. I enjoyed this story so much more than I thought I would.

Ashton has a very overprotective dad who tries to control her entire life. He has everything planned out for her. Who she is going to marry, what she will do (stay home and take care of the kids of course) and everything. Only problem? Ashton doesn't want any of that. She doesn't want to marry the guy her dad keeps trying to push on her as he is a terrible person. She wants to work, she wants to do things, she wants to be herself.

Ashton is in her twenties and so old enough to make her own decisions, but for some reason still lets her dad control her life. She wants to take a two week trip with her best friend, and she first asks her dad for permission That whole things is just like wait what? If he said no you really wouldn't go? You are an adult! You can do what you want! I didn't quite understand why she never stood up for herself with him even after she explained it, but oh well. They are going on their trip and she is going to have an amazing time.

Since her dad is way overprotective he hires Dane to follow her. He is supposed to be sneaky about it, she must never know her dad hired a guard for her while she travels. Only problem? Dane finds himself drawn to Ashton. He likes her from the start and he cannot sit back and watch as other guys hit on her.

Ashton is drawn to Dane as well, though she doesn't know who he really is. They have their two weeks and they both fall for the other, but what happens when the get back to the real world? That to me was the best part of the book. It was not rushed, it was not magically everything is fixed in two pages, the author took the time to really make the story work. Ashton has some growing up to do, she needs to learn to stand up for herself and what she wants, and Dane has some issues of his own keeping him from doing whatever he wants. I must say Ashton still makes some stupid decisions, decisions that don't make much sense, but at least she starts to grow and become a stronger person. I really liked the will they be able to figure this all out and live happily ever after that you get in the last part of the book. A surprisingly good read.

In book one of The Southern Comfort Book Series, we meet Dane Woods, Ashton Winslow, and Lulu (Ashton's best friend). Three divergent personalities thrown together for a once in a lifetime journey.

Determined to have an epic weekend before she says yes to marrying the man her fathers has chosen for her, Ashton and Lulu head to Nashville for a little bit of fun. Unbeknownst to the two, Dane has been hired to ensure their safety by Ashton's father, and is hot on their heels.

Dane's connection to the Winslow family is complex and this part of the book unfolds beautifully. While I found the book to have a great beginning and end, the middle did not meet it's potential. Dane and Ashton forge a connection, based upon Danes desires to help her create the memories she wants to have, for when she is bound to a husband in a loveless marriage. These scenes are loaded with tenderness and warmth - utterly charming. When the trio leave Nashville for Florida, the tenderness evaporates and lust takes over. Ms Mooney does a great job in bringing it back at the end of the book.

I would really give this book 3.5 stars if I could. I liked it, I almost really liked it. Another reviewer mentioned the need for another pass by an editor or proofreader, and while that may be, I would give this book a solid 4 if the descriptive narrative and dialog that takes place on a dusty road outside Nashville could have filled more pages of the book.

I really enjoyed this book. Ashton (AKA: Grace) wants to break away from her over protective father. Grace is 22 years old and can't do anything without her father's permission. Grace wants to go on a vacation and her father finally agrees to let her go for 2 weeks. But what Grace doesn't know is that her father hired Dane (AKA: Woody) to keep an eye on Grace. Grace has no idea!

First night out and Woody decides that he likes Grace and can't stand to watch her dance and kiss up on other guys so he steps in. Grace is attracted to Woody right off the bat. They spend the two weeks together, but Woody knows that it can't go farther then the two weeks because once they get home it has to end. Woody doesn't want Grace to find out her father hired him to keep an eye on her.

Of course at the end of the two weeks Woody ends it and promised to call Grace soon..but he doesn't. Grace is heart broken.

Later on..Grace is at the bar with a friend and sees Woody's brother and then everything clicks in her head. She knows who Woody really is and drives right to his house. Blows up in his face.

After lots of fighting, talking, being through family shit..they FINALLY get to be together in the end.

It was a cute short and kepted me interested!

We was given a copy of this novel in return for an honest review.

we thoroughly enjoyed this love story, who couldn't!! :D
Ashton is a well known daddys girl who wants 2 weeks holiday to let her hair down before daddy tries to marry her off to his perfect idea of a husband Trevor.
Woody secretly Dane woods is sweet, hard working family man who has recently left the forces after losing his best friend and brother in arms AJ.
Daddy pays Dane to track Ashton and keep an eye on her..... both of them get more than they are bargained for.
This is an instant connection kinda story, Dane is stunningly beautiful but bores scars from his time in the military Ashton doesn't even notice them!! we love that!
If looking for a loving, steamy read then this is a great read for you.
Kelly has wrote a beautiful story than makes u ache for the couple.... if finding the love of your life isn't hard enough... saying goodbye is even harder..

5 Stars Light, Fluffy, Sweet with a whole lot of Southern Sexy for sure:)

OK, I love to read and I love to read pretty much anything but I have to say that every so often I just want to read a light, mindless, drama and angst free read and this book definitely fit the bill for me! I, like most people, read to escape the stresses of every day life and sometimes I am in the mood for a much lighter read than normal. I truly loved this book. Yes, it was fluffy and corny at times, I mean that in a good way, lol, was it predictable, heck yes BUT that is exactly why I chose it!

Dane and Ashton were so darn cute together and I loved everything about the 2 of them:) Dane was one sexy man.... The sex scenes with these two were not all light and fluffy either, wink, wink, they were pretty darn HOT and steamy!!!!!

Congrats Kelly Mooney, this is the first book that I read by you and it most definitely won't be the last one either!!!!!! I truly loved it and I look forward to reading more of your books in the future:)

This is such a sweet read. I really enjoyed the main female character, Ashton/Grace, as well as her partner in crime LuLu. I enjoyed the plot of this book and it was well written...so well written that at one point I wanted Mr. Bill Winslow and Mr. Trevor Owens would just fall right out of the book, but they were handled and I was happy with the results.

Now lets talk about what most people want to know...Mr. Dane Woods...holy hot guy with feelings. I really really liked this guy. He was tough, a little damaged but oh so sweet. He is definitely some of the Southern Comfort I wouldn't have minded running into on my two weeks of freedom.

Grace and Woody's story is very sweet and it is so easy to fall in love with these two characters. I am glad that all things worked out for everyone. I am going to move onto Josh's story because he definitely caught my interest with his womanizing ways.

This is a great read so if you are looking for something sweet this book is right up your alley.

Great read! Love Ashlyn & Dane. Ashlyn's best friend Lulu is a riot and a great friend. Ashlyn is a daddy's girl. Her dad plans on being in the senate & wants Ashlyn to marry the "perfect" boy Trevor. What Ashlyn wants is 2 weeks of freedom to go on a vacation with her best friend without having one of daddy's chaperones. Her dad agrees but then hires someone to watch her from a distance.
Dane is a war hero and has been home for 6 months. He decides to work for his brother at his security firm. He gets a call for a job to tail Ashlyn. Great, just what he wants. He met Ashlyn in her teens and all he remembers is a spoiled stuck up rich girl. He takes the job he wants to give the money to his fallen best friends widow and baby.
Will Dane change his mind about Ashlyn? Will Ashlyn marry Trevor so she doesn't disappoint daddy? Will Lulu ever settle down or will she remain a wild child?
Hope to read more about Danes brother Josh as well.

A cute, easy read to get lost in for a couple of hours. A Long Goodbye is one of the better freebies I've read recently. It was a sweet read that held my interest well.

The plot centres around Ashton, a twenty-something year old with a controlling father. Before marrying the guy her dad has picked out she wants one last trip with her friend Lu. On the trip she lets go, has fun, and starts to find herself. She also starts to fall in love with Woody. However, Woody is hiding something big from her and revealing it will destroy Ashton.

A Long Goodbye was simple in its story line, and predictable to some extent. Regardless, it's one of those feel-good reads where the hero fights for the heroin and helps her discover who she wants to be. I believed in the chemistry between Ashton and Dane. There was definitely a spark and I couldn't hep root for them.

Overall a good read. This was the first time I've read anything by this author, but no doubt I will be reading more in the future.
