Sourwolf Candy
When the Sourwolf Candy franchise offers a $10,000 annual scholarship to the school of the winner's choice, Stiles jumps at the chance to enter. It doesn't matter that the other prizes are a day with one of the Hales and a lifetime supply of Sourwolf Candy. The sacrifices are worth it, because if there's one thing that Stiles hates more than Sourwolf Candy, it's Derek Hale.
So of course he has to spend a day with the guy who made the catchphrase 'Don't be such a Sourwolf' popular: Sourfaced Derek Hale himself. If he doesn't, he doesn't get his scholarship money.
Derek just wants a little sugar. Or a lot of sugar, as the case may be.

I tried reading [Sleep]Walking After You a few weeks ago (probably closer to a couple months, actually. Or three. I'm not good at keeping track of my life, and I've been told I have a weird understanding of the concept of time and the role it plays in our lives) and didn't like the writing style, but the premise of this fic was too good to pass on. Luckily, in this case I didn't find the writing style unpalatable or annoying, and was able to enjoy the story. Which I really did.
It's fun.
Stiles's and Derek's characterisation feels slightly off-kilter, for two main reasons: there is no Kate anywhere ever, which makes Derek's personality much closer to normal, and the author concentrates more on the drier, more biting side of Stiles than the well-rounded sensitive-yet-badass interpretation of his character that I love so much. It's still recognisably them, but it makes the fic feel a little more like an original story.
The storyline melds two different types of short fic together. There's the more comedic type, where the MCs get to know each other and which usually ends with their getting together, and the type that concentrates on the MCs' life as a couple. It's uncommon to see them mashed up together to form a medium length fic, but for some reason it just works; it's satisfying, yet still light-hearted and amusing.
There is candy, preconceived notions, Stiles being an annoying twat, Sourwolf Derek and sex. Fun times!
Also Laura as a horrendously bitchy airhead instead of a domineering yet loving big sis, which is refreshing and allowed because she's not dead so she doesn't have to be wonderful. But I never ever ever want to see the word anus in a fic ever again. Ever.
It's fun.

But alas, I have gotten distracted. This was kinda cute and kinda boring. Laura is horrible. Derek is the weakest of weak and Stiles is the life of the party, kind of.

Another charming and quirky Sterek fanfic with Stiles and Derek in LA this time.
Many, many pop culture and candy references (the candy ones going over my head as I'd never heard of any of 'em) with the usual Sterek angst and drama taking a back seat.
A sweet and fun little read. ;)

Totally funny.
Snarky and punny. This is pretty adorable in terms of the character interactions which is like watching a snipe match. The characters were really nicely fleshed out, no I haven't watched the show, and this has got one of the HOTTEST mutual masturbation scenes I've ever read. During morning coffee is way too early to read that. If you like sexual tension, this author deals in spades.

I gave up at about 90%
Derek is a complete doormat.
Stiles is annoying. One minute he's all hate, then oh no actually he saw past all the press. He won a competition yet is an ungrateful bitchy brat about the prize.
Laura and Peter are both ghastly people with a brief pause of Peter to give sage/drunken advice.
There's a gazillion pop-culture references; interlayed sweet names, movie/song/comic quotes - If that's your thing it'll amuse you.
If the buisness is in such a dire situation I couldn't figure why they'd offer a scholarship, or why the whole day wouldn't be filmed, or if the candy is seriously that vile how there's even be a buisness.
A mix of annoying and boring this really didn't work for me. May work better for a younger audience.

AU where the Hales are celebrities and the owners of Sourwolf Candy. Stiles isn't really a fan, but he wants the scholarship offered as a prize in their latest competition. He also wins a day with Derek Hale :)
