ETA: in retrospect it's more like 5 stars (this was my first TW fanfic).:')
I like to think that I’m too old to watch YA supernatural TV series Teen Wolf. And so it’s a small miracle that I ended up reading several pieces of Teen Wolf (TW) fanfic. It’s all the fault of a those die hard TW fangirls out there, who tirelessly kept recommending me the works by RemainNameless.
When reading the blurb for Dating Backwards I figured that, well, Derek and Stiles may not mean heck to me, but porn stars do, so..
And what a great surprise Dating Backwards was! It was way more entertaining than I had anticipated, with a dash of satire and sarcastic wit and plenty juicy sex scenes. In this work, Derek and Stiles (the most popular TW slash pairing, doh!) are both porn stars, you know, as a job on the side to get through college (anything is possible in the wondrously bizarre world of fan fiction). Of course there are reasons why they definitely don’t feel like doing a shoot together, but their audience doesn’t share their reluctance. Will they be able to resist peer pressure? And what if they end up liking working together?
A fluffy, fun-packed ride that’s not only hard to put down, but also riddled with humor, Big Misunderstandings and porny goodness. I approve!

Brilliant fic of course because RemainNameless is Queen - characterization, writing and development are in a class all by themselves as usual.
However, my second read wasn't quite as profoundly fulfilling as my first one because of one tiny fact that I, in my shameless gushing excitement, managed to completely overlook back in 2013: Stiles is a moron.
I would pay big bucks to see those porn videos as actual, you know, porn videos. Big bucks.

I'd like a mathematician to calculate the chances of a bunch of high school friends all becoming porn stars in college.
Okay, okay, to be fair there's no mention of anyone but Stiles and Scott knowing each other before college. And it is a story not reality...yada, yada, yada.
But more important than that is Stiles poppin' Derek's butt cherry , oh yeah...
Little slow in the beginning, but it picks up and becomes really enjoyable, especially with the, you know, butt virginity and everything.
For those of you who do not enjoy reading about Derek and Stiles sleeping with other people (which is usually me but for some reason I don't have a problem with hookers and porn stars--I just despise when they like or love other people), here's some spoilers about that--

The natural reaction to that is HELLZ YEAH!!
And I will admit that there was some major hotness happening.
But when there was no nookie happening there were feelings being spilled all about the place. Dark angsty low self esteem feelings.

Meh-not one of the better ones. It has some slippery moments. I'll just press a partial edited replay of my previous Worst Thing I Ever Did review and once again reiterate this has the potential to be some addicting junk-food entertainment.
In my No Homo review I related it to a bag of Cheetos. My original analysis stands firm. Unfortunately because I don't do anything half-way, I didn't stop at just one bag of Cheetos. No. I gorged on this junk-filled-shit for days.
Those unfamiliar, this is fan-fiction 'Teen Wolf' (TV series) of high school (YA) teens fraternizing w/local werewolves population featuring Derek Hale and Stiles Stalinski ('Sterek' fandom fame). Stiles character is a snarky cutie-patootie-slice-of-homemade-apple-pie goodness while Derek is the town's resident-brooding-walking-sex-god-of-a-werewolf..and he and Stiles have this hate-you-fuck-me-love-thing going on.
If nothing else-I am positive some of these fanfic writers could easily pimp out their sex scenes and make a f'ing killing. Because man-can they bring it..in a potent-kind of way..like some kind of sexually-explicit-descriptive-chemist. Concocting and mixing up the feelings w/the visually-appealing descriptors creating some kind of erotic-reactive-sensorium for the reader. It's good shit.
The writing has a sarcastic wit and bite lending it satiric-comedy flair. It's ridiculously entertaining. This plot features Derek & Stiles as porn stars, which I actually expected it to be far steamier, but then again maybe I'm becoming desensitized to this shit.
The writing at times runs amok..gets old..and well..just stupid.
SO-ATM I'm officially maxed-out on 'Sterek' having completed (4) stories of this shit back-to-back. Time for a break

Premise is the cast of TW does porn. Honestly am I the only one that noticed the similarities between this fic and this: Bullet? I couldn't get the comparisons out of my head and everyone was totally OOC.
There were some steamy sex scenes, but not enough substance to keep me engaged. (I am very hit and miss with this author though).

Take heed - this is an enemies to lovers trope and more serious than what the blurb would lead you to believe especially when it starts with the word "pornstars". Derek is the ultimate professional and prides himself on said professionalism. He's cool as a cucumber until Stiles inevitably ruffles his feathers.
Derek is a closed off, egotistic (but secretly wounded and insecure) workaholic. He's definitely justified because he's the most popular performer. Stiles is a smug little bastard who doesn't know when to shut it off. Both try to prove a point. When contract specifics bring these two together - get ready to fan yourself.
But of course there has to be conflict.
"It's fear. The thought of working to prove his worth to Stiles... the thought of holding them together by sheer force of will when it's not even what Stiles wants… that's terrifying."
"He wants Derek to hold him and take him apart, but more than that, he wants to see what Derek will do with him if he lets him.. but it's not like he can do anything about it. He can't force Derek to be more with him."
This had my favorite kind of angst - insecurity, doubt, jealousy - with extra, extra doses of assumptions and miscommunication. There's nosy pack members and an abundance of Hale family meddling. And of course plenty of smex - lots of it - I promise.
"And then he's saying Derek's name over and over, like it's the best song he's ever heard."

JFC. I was so skeptical, but of course I ended up reading it during those breaks in holiday madness. STILES AND DEREK AS PORNSTARS. *falls over* Not the first time it's been done (not by a long shot), but I very much enjoyed it. It's definitely not perfect, and it's not going to be everyone's cuppa. However, it was sweet, funny, hot, cute, ridiculous, and yeah...the ending was really awww-worthy.
Note: There's a Big Misunderstanding, so if that's not your thing, maybe it's best to avoid it.
Happy new year to me! Sterek started it off with a bang. ;)

Genius. Pure, absolute genius.
I fucking loved this.
Entertaining, brilliantly written, witty and oozing such bubbling emotional STUFF that made me all warm and fuzzy. Oh, the angst, the PORN, the whole fucking thing. God, even just the fucking...
My brain, heart and soul have just melted into sweet oblivion. The only thing left is this rambling, nonsensical review.

So... The plot was sheer brilliance - porn stars? Werewolves? I have to confess I had no idea what Teen Wolf really was (should I be ashamed of that? I probably should.) but I liked it better this way. I totally bought into this bizarre set-up with young college kids making money in a porn world because the Derek and Stiles thing was just... Wow. Intense. It worked. They worked. But most of all, the writing was fantastic - I genuinely felt I was on a pretty hardcore journey: I laughed held my breath and whooped in delight at times - all courtesy of the great prose, dialogue and plot.
I.Recommend.Wholeheartedly.

Not sure why exactly, but I went for a re-read. Turns out that "Dating Backwards" remains my least favorite story from this otherwise excellent author.
What can I say? I don't like Stiles being a jerk of epic proportions, Derek-the-doormat-alpha or his douchebag pack nor his crazypants sister. Kind of takes away the fun when you dislike the MCs and most of the supporting cast for most of the story.
Also, why is Derek the Alpha if he never acts like it? And why are we on a porn set (I'm not asking for a hyper realistic approach, but Derek bottoming for the first time on set?! And Stiles - pornstar extraordinaire- still doubts his own attractiveness?). The sex is pretty standard, too (although that seems to be my standard complaint of late). And lastly, the many "i hate yous" and "you are evil" bugged me. That's not how I want guys in their twenties to act.

Ended stronger than it began. The start is a bit of a dawdle and I was getting bored, but it picked up and the angst meter got spun up and the sex was quite lovely. Hot, sweet and ends with a bang.

And it was really great right up until 80%. When the angst went from, ‘Oh, I can handle this’ to ‘You stupid people, can I smack you with my frying pan?!’
It was pretty over the top. I get some miscommunications, but this was really ridiculous.
So If you can handle unnecessary angst, this is the book for you. Because other than that it was really good. If the issues were solved earlier on I would have given it 4 or 5 stars.

Damn, that was much better than I was expecting given the slightly better than average cumulative rating here on GR. I went in thinking "Yay Porn!" and got a heavy dose of feelings, so Yay Porn & Feelings!
Usually I hate the Big Misunderstand trope, but those are typically thrown in near the end to cause unnecessary drama. With this story, the BM is pretty much the drama... So it was less irritating.
Also, loved the characterization, especially Finstock; from canon crappy, irritable and frustrated coach to crappy, irritable and frustrated director. Somehow taking all of them and turning it up to 11 just worked for me.
Finally, so hot. Like burning. There's just never enough Bottom!Derek... Let alone Bottom!Derek that's written this well.

This was an incredibly entertaining read. The writing style reminded me of It's Like This, which I of course love. It had great sexual tension, witty dialogue, smokin' hot sex, just the right amount of angst, and some very sweet moments. I need to read more by this author!

Ok the blurb did NOT do this book it's justice....before i started i thought it was just a little funny light read BUT it turned out to be way more than that,it wasn't some meaningless porn and shallow air-headed porn stars that only cars about their appearance like i thought it would be.....it was funny,hot ,emotional,deep,irritating and was beautifully written!
I liked Derek's character a lot here....he is hiding behind a front of a tough asshole angry guy even so he is so breakable,lonely and has insecurities on the inside like anybody else!
And stiles was so provoking and assholish but all of that was also to just protect himself from getting hurt!
i loved them in this book their chemistry -it was like whenever they are at the same place it's inevitable that an explosion of sexual tension and bend up hotness happens-,dry sense of humor, sex scenes....and yeah, they were stupid sometimes and irritated the hell outta me to the point i just wanted to kick some sense into them but all of that just added to the story.....and it has one of the best heart aching goodbye sex scenes ever!
The author's writing style is freakin' amazing, it's like she knows them very well ....she made me feel every word,understand every decision from each point of view....i feel like i know what they are thinking,feeling....their denial,love,insecurities,loneliness,vulnerability....UGH! She just has an amazing writing style!

Rec'd on BIOB. There was much to enjoy in this Sterek fan fic. I don't particularly have a thing for porn stars, and wasn't sure about that aspect of the story, but the writer fortunately kept it fairly intimate (that is, only scenes between characters we know well). I enjoyed the rivalry that Derek felt with Stiles because of how good Stiles was in front of the camera. The build up of their relationship was fun. The writing was good.
Cons: The book was considerably longer than it needed to be, and I'm REALLY not a fan of the angst point or 'big misunderstanding' being So that dinged it a few stars for me.
Still, the writing is fun and it's an entertaining read if you like Sterek. Also, it's FREE and novel length, so kudos to the author for supplying us with some juicy, well-written fan fiction.

I lost count of how many times this made me laugh. I'm kind of laughing at myself for reading fanfic based on a series I've never watched a single minute of, but I just... had to. And it turned out to be very well written. Again, here's one of those free things written by mysterious, anonymous authors that turn out to be far superior to so, so, so many published MM authors.
I would have given this four stars if it weren't for the length. I felt that the last 5% were altogether unnecessary, and that the entire story could have been 25% shorter. Alternatively, there could have been a more complex plot. I like the writing, the language, but it was just too long in the end.
Personally, for me, it's too fluffy, but I'm sure 97% of all MM readers will just adore this. I'm happy it's "less talk"-"more show" fluff, but still... fluff IS fluff, and I hate it.

This started slow, and then picked up pace and then it was full on Sterek love.
Yes, its pretty unbelievable that everyone has turned to a life of porn, but you do generally suspend belief at times in some of this fic. Once you get your head around that its really enjoyable.
Stiles is dorky and hot, Derek is surly and hot. Together they are super hot.
It married up the 'fall in love while making porn' theme nicely with the 'enemies. friends, fuck buddies' trend popular in Sterek, and its funny with some really lovely tender moments.
For those who know - it made me want to go shopping in gap, in my lunch break.

Another winner for my STEREK shelf which is growing at an alarming speed:)))
In this one, Derek and Stiles are porn stars (yum!) and they develop a hate-at-first-sight thing. It then turns into a you're-annoying-me-like-crazy thing, which turns into I-think-I-have-feelings-for-you thing. Gloriously, it evolves into a I'm-pining-so-hard-and-my-heart-is-broken thing. Emotions galore, meddling family members, scorching hot yet crazy emotional sex scenes, and a few too many miscommunications afterwards, we have an amazing HEA and all is right in the Sterek universe.
Highly recommend!

Okay, so this had everything I love and I loved it.... *STEREK crazy grin on my face*
You have Stiles with his smartass mouth and Derek with his brooding silence and your recipe for a hot and happening, entertaining disaster is ready...there is angst....and my heart just went out to both of these cuties with their insecurities....
Although I wanted to smash their heads together they were behaving so damned stupid and obtuse...but ALL's well that ends well...So, I got my HEA and I am one happy lady *currently in a completely happy and blissed out state*

Derek i Stiles są gwiazdami porno.
Pomysł na fabułę ciekawy, zwłaszcza rywalizacja o to, który z nich jest lepszy w swoim fachu. Mimo to czułam pewną wtórność osi fabularnej - obustronny brak komunikacji i jego uzasadnienie musi być naprawdę dobrze poprowadzone, żebym nie poczuła znużenia. Tutaj niestety to znużenie w pewnej chwili poczułam.
Paradoksalnie (bo, heloł, gwiazdy porno) zabrakło mi tu też napięcia erotycznego, mimo że samego seksu było dużo.
Mimo to czytało mi się przyjemnie, zostawiam więc 3,5 gwiazdki.

Reviewers complain, sometimes, about the "big misunderstanding" trope, but it usually doesn't bother me all that much. Maybe because usually it's not this bad. This was like a cliché of a stereotype of the big misunderstanding. It was painful to watch.
But, up until then, it was a pretty good story.

I really like this author. And I really, really like her writing style and most of her works quite a lot.

I really like this author. And I really, really like her writing style and most of her works quite a lot.
But I simply can't continue forcing myself to finish this - because I'm bored. The writing itself is up to par with RemainNameless' other works, but there are simply some things that I can't get over here:
1. The pornstar trope in general. I've yet to read one of those that'll blow my mind (or even remotely close to that). I can't help it, but I'm usually bored very soon with those.
2. Derek. Not in general, mind you. No, this Derek in particular. Because he's nothing like the big, bad alpha with those serious & grumpy (adoarble) eyebrows. Whoshootsclaws & rips your throat out first and asks questions later.
3. Stiles. And again: not in general. (See above.) I mean, srsly? Stiles being a racist (aka speciesist)?!? Sorry, I can't see it. Nor believe it. At all. Stiles is the most openminded, inquisitive and curious character of the whole show. Hell, even more than that. So excuse me, just no. I don't buy it, even though I really tried to.
4. Pornstars. - Yep, already mentioned before, but it still bears repeating. Because. So many. Bloody. Characters. Are. Goddamn. Pornstars. (I'm sorry. This is a very obvious case of "It's me, not you."... so... yeah. Sorry.)

I'm feeling really conflicted about this story. So that probably means it is more 3.5 stars.
It had all the things that I enjoyed about the previous story I read by remainnameless: sterek, banter between Derek and Stiles, smexxy times.
But there was also one of my least favorite m/m settings - the porn industry. For the most part the tone is OK porno and almost all of the characters are porn stars. If It could have just lived in ok porno land, I probably could have let it go as just escapist fun. However, there were hints that not everyone was ok with it. Stiles hiding it from his father for example. I still can't clearly identify what bothered me.

That is just, weird. But pretty good sex included with a lot of relationship angst. Of course a few places left me feeling like, WTF was THAT supposed to mean or convey?
