Jack’s life is typical—typical barely-there boyfriend, typical shitty job, typical tiny apartment in the city. But when Jack is dropped off at Wellbrooke Pony Farm in the middle of nowhere, his life goes from typical to interesting in two seconds flat. A handsome groom named Daniel teaches Jack that it’s okay to want more, to be cared for, and that sometimes, a city boy just needs to be stabled.
Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
3.75 STARS--"I'm going to let you come, colt. Christen the stall."
*gallops wildly*
Sean Michael's "Pony Play" is book #3 from the standalone series Sealed with a Kink. And what a kinky little filly this was (I have so many bad horse jokes, it's not even funny...okay maybe a little)
This story is filled will pony play, penis piercings and enemas, oh my! I will admit this is not my first prance around the pony play paddock. However there was great equipment detail that I looked into deeper on a pony play fetish website...it helps visualize the bits, harnesses, etc.
Jack is sort of kidnapped onto a kinky two week vacation by his ex-lover. His ex leaves him with groom/Master Daniel at a BDSM/pony play training stable. (Side note: The MC's names are Jack and Daniel...LOL) I had to suspend reality and take a trip off the reality trail for a moment of two. Why? A grown man is sort of kidnapped and left with a stranger to participate in an act that he did not consent to? There were minor quibbles but he just went along with it...I neighed with disbelief during those moments.
While suspending reality with my treats of apples and carrot sticks (a true pony boy diet), Jack and Daniel played in some yummy scenes. Harnesses and nipple piercing and reins...Jack learned he was a true pony boy/sub in this 24/7 lifestyle. All Jack wants is someone to call his own who will accept him kinks and all. Luckily, groom/Master Daniel fit the criteria and was as unattached as Jack.
The story is less than 50 pages but was full on the kink. Kinksters will definitely nicker and neigh in kinky delight with this short. Don't expect too much depth or length. Do expect a couple of hot scenes.
"Pony Play" ends with a strong HFN/ light HEA ending. And I'd definitely wouldn't have minded a couple more chapters with the couple. It was a fun read, great for when you want a kinky snack.
The amount of unicorns prancing happily in a brightly lit meadow suffocates my brain. I am disappointed it's not what I have been expecting. So much for breaking in a new pony, it's more like the sweet surrender of an airhead.
Perhaps I am spoiled by all those dark hardcore ponyplay stories. There wasn't much to look forward to in this story. The interaction between the groom and his ponyboy lacks the intensity to engage me. This is due to the groom aka trainer kept explaining every single thing that he is going to do to the protag each time he is going to do something and this my friend, is an instant excitement and mood killer. For what is there to look forward to when we already know what is coming? Zero element of surprise makes this a boring book to read. I might as well go read a pony gentling manual.
So much telling, lack of showing, readers dubbed as mentally challenged.
If there is such a thing as vanila-ponyplay, voila! They even ride into the sunset hand-in-hand, that is figuratively speaking. Yes, I do not buy their insta-attraction and insta-commitment at all. Unless both are just airheads with zero common sense.
I am giving it a 2 stars because I quite like some of the foreplay, sex and certain parts of the training.
I did like the cover tho. Because of it I was compelled to read this book.

Very sweet, gentling of a new colt to the stables by a loving groom. Some nice kink, but too short. I need more character development and psychological exploration to really connect.
Wow! That was some intense pony play - poor Jack! ;) But Daniel took such a good care of his colt :)
At the beginning I found it a bit disturbing that the MCs did't know each other at all, that Jack was actually dumped in a "pony farm" by his so-called friend, Billy, without even knowing what was in store for him.
I got even more freaked out when at the end of the story, after only 3 or 4 days some life-changing decisions are going to be made... (no way, right?!) So, it's a bit too insta-everything for me. The previous couples in Plugs and Pushy Bottom knew each other - one was an established M/s relationship, the other observed each other for a long time. Here? It was just: BOOM! I want to be with you! But you know what? I don't care! It's just a kinky, dirty little short that should probably make me blush and fan myself reading it and it does! ;) Pure Sean Michael as we know them! ;)
My favourite quote: Then he shifts to sit and pulls me onto him, so I’m floating on water and on Daniel. Oh, God. I don’t have enough bones in me to shiver. “Now you’re really mine, colt.” Every inch of me. And I know it.
I'd give this 4 stars but the subject of the story makes me slightly uncomfortable so I'll stick with 3 stars.
It's my first foray into this kind of territory. I have to say Mr. Michael made it interesting and sensual in some way. However, as much as I was able to get into Jack's head, I was still weirded out by the actual act of playing the pony/colt part. More so when the author was clever enough to use vocabulary reserved for horses: prancing, stomping. I was enticed by the sensuality of their proximity, the attention that Daniel lavished on Jack.
So the 3 stars go for Mr. Michael succeeding in introducing me to this new world and not have me balk at it.

I think I'm going to go into a diabetic coma, from all the sugary sweetness in this story.
Who would'a thought that a pony play book would be sickeningly sweet. I'm all good with a light and fluffy sugary sweetness read here and there, but that was not what I signed what I was expecting...and unfortunately it wasn't a pleasant surprise.
I do still love Sean Michael books...I'll just forget all about this one.
This very aptly titled short story takes an interesting look at one of the role play kinks that are a little "farther out there", so to speak. There can be slight unease when thinking about one of the partners taking on the role of pretending to be an animal, just like with doggie play, but when I thought about it, it's still role play at the end of the day. And as long as both partners are consenting adults, what this story made me realize is that is isn't really all that different from any other role play, or Dom/sub situations that human imagination can come up with. And this story is one of the most lovingly written, "soft", and understanding versions of what can go on in the "pretend stables" that I have ever read.
********** SORRY!! ********* This was my first ponyplay book, and I am sorry to say that I found it all a little to funny, so maybe I should stay away from the kind of books, or just use them when I'm feeling down!
This brought me WAY out of my comfort zone and I loved it. Seriously, pony play anyone? An actual pony farm with stables. ACK! I can't believe I am saying this, but I wished it was longer so I could see what happens next.

Meh. Not bad, not outright boring, not realistic. Insta-lovey and not in a charming way (almost in a creepy way, people). But it was short so I guess it had to make things happen fast.

Rating: 5/10
PROS: - This is a kink I haven’t read much about, and I enjoyed seeing something so out of the ordinary. - Jack’s actions are written in such a way that he is portrayed similarly to a skittish horse, which I found fascinating. - At first, I was apprehensive about the fact that Jack’s former partner arranged to have Jack immersed in such an unfamiliar situation without his permission. But the author alleviated my concerns quickly with a few well-timed comments about how it was the man could have known that the arrangement was something Jack wanted.
CONS: - The story felt a bit claustrophobic to me in that there are almost no secondary characters. Once Jack gets dropped off at the barn, it’s just him and Daniel. I think seeing some other people who are into the same kink would have gone a long way toward alleviating Jack’s anxiety over what he considers to be an abnormal longing in himself. On top of that, there’s very little depth to Daniel because the story is short, it’s told from Jack’s POV, and there aren’t any in-depth conversations through which we see the men really getting to know each other. - Much as I enjoyed reading about a kink with which I’m mostly unfamiliar, the level of detail was frustratingly sparse for me. Daniel says at one point, for instance, “You’re clearly a colt. That, I gleaned for myself, though, he’d put in ‘colt/pony boy’. You’re a colt, though, through and through…” and then Jack thinks, “I don’t even know what the difference is.” Well, I didn’t know the difference between “colt” and “pony boy” either, and the story never explained it to me.
Overall comments: There’s the start of something interesting here, but 708 Kindle locations isn’t enough to adequately explore a kink that’s brand new for someone, especially if his initial exploration of that kink is a full 2 weeks of 24/7 immersion. I wanted to see a bit more of the exploration itself, but I also wanted to see what happens when the characters go back to their everyday lives.
Sean is at it again! This time we explore the surface of Pony Play! PP is a fairly unknown kink so it's nIce to have an author broaden our horizons! This book follows a character who is unhappy in both his everyday as well as his love life. His bf drops him off at the Pony Ranch for training. Jack, or as he is called for almost the entire book, Colt is upset and confused as to why Billy brought him to this place only to leave him there alone. Colt is greeted by Daniel his Groom for his stay. Daniel and Colt begin to explore a Groom/pony relationsHip and Colt begins to realize that this life is very much for him.
I liked this book but I didn't LOVE it. In typical Sean fashion the characters and the sex was great but I think I would have preferred for this to be a longer and fully developed story as opposed to a short one. I think there was too much to fit into a short time span.
Never read a book about pony-play. I mean, I vaguely knew such a thing existed, but it wasn't at all on my radar. I found it interesting. I can see the appeal, especially with a Groom/Master like Daniel. He's very affectionate, understanding and kind. Even with the kink being a bit more out there (as far as these types of stories go), it was surprisingly sweet.
Aww the story was very sweet one I enjoyed so much Jack meets the one groom Daniel who he shares a connection with and when they meet the sparks fly. Billy really is a true friend for Jack. Although I do wish the story was more developed and a little longer I really want to know what happens between them at the pony farm!
I am not into pony play at all but since this is part of a series, and it's Sean Michael, I gave it a try and I am glad I did. Very sexy and entertaining!
There are currently 7 books in this series and they are all stand-alone. Each one is a fairly short read and they are very different so they can be read one right after the other or interspersed between other books.
This could have been a bad thing with someone being brought to the stable without even knowing what was going on. But even though it's a extreme place it ends up such a special story about the budding of a relationship.
I have to admit Sean Michael novellas are often very similar, but then I tend to read them when I'm in the mood for something like that. This is a short, erotic read with a heavy dose of kink and multiple sex scenes - 'simple' and fun. Worth reading if you like similar stories by the author.
Not quite what I was hoping for. Some great moments, a typical Sean Michael sub, and a quickly achieved happily ever after. I would have loved to see more actual pony play beyond these first 2 says of a 2 week journey.
Fast paced yet well read book. Would love to see what else could've happened between the two with other ponies or the ex coming back. Book 3 in the series is put together very well enough that I read straight through without putting it down.
