Meet Damian Castillo. The man, the legend, the heartbreaker. As a self-proclaimed man-whore, Damian doesn’t believe in love or commitment. In fact, he can’t remember the last time he’s had feeling for a woman that went beyond hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only things he cares about are his bar, his appearance, and his needs.

But then he meets Alexis.

Meet Alexis Blythe. A small town girl that has lost a lot of love in her life. Wanting to leave her past behind her, she moves to San Francisco looking for a big change. Yet, despite everything she’s gone through, she still believes in true love.

But then she meets Damian.

When Alexis shows up at his bar, Damian’s caught by surprise. She’s different. She’s sweet, innocent, and feisty. But above all, this woman didn’t respond to his charm and piercing-blue eyes the way every other woman did. To Damian, she’s his ultimate challenge.

Could Alexis be the girl that will break through Damian’s wall of perpetual bachelorhood without getting hurt? Or will Damian remain true his ways and break Alexis’s heart and her hopes of true love?

Jessica Wood writes contemporary romance.

While she has lived in countless cities throughout the U.S., her heart belongs to San Francisco. To her, there’s something seductively romantic about the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep rolling hills of the city streets, the cable cars, and the Victorian-style architecture.

She loves a strong, masculine man with a witty personality. While she is headstrong and extremely independent, she can’t resist a man who takes control of the relationship, both outside and inside of the bedroom.

She loves to travel internationally, and tries to plan a yearly trip abroad. She also loves to cook and bake, and—to the benefit of her friends—she loves to share. She also enjoys ceramics and being creative with her hands. She has a weakness for good (maybe bad) TV shows; she’s up-to-date on over 25 current shows, and no, that wasn’t a joke.

And it goes without saying, she loves books—they’re like old and dear friends who have always been there to make her laugh and make her cry.

The one thing she wished she had more of is time.

PopSugar Challenge 2016

Category: A Book with a protagonist with your occupation (Legal assistant, for all it’s mentioned about twice and never shown)

I have been a very, very shallow vampire ninja; and I have paid the price. Four dollars, to be precise. Do you see that cover model? He is beautiful. This book however was a complete and utter DISASTER, for me. I HATED Damian, both the titular character and the book as a whole. The misogyny in this book, OH MY FUCKING GOD!

I’ll be real honest, I am not generally a fan of virginal characters. I like promiscuous characters. Characters who have delved into their sexuality and explored themselves. However, be your sexual partners fuck buddies or one night stands, I require they at least fucking respect these men/women, on some level. I’d be a hypocrite and a half if I said they had to love or have an emotional connection with them but at very fucking least not mentally degrading them for doing EXACTLY what you’re doing is paramount. Damian doesn’t respect these women, at all. His thoughts are degrading and down-right offensive.

The lovely Heatherdoll posted an image/write-up on Facebook last week that put one of my frustrations with this book really well: "girls are being raised to disrespect their own gender from their childhood on. I was, and am, expected to accept the fact that being female automatically makes me inferior, and that I should be thankful for being treated equally, because that’s not the standard. I was, and am, expected to appreciate and take it as a compliment when people tell me that I’m not like other women. Because I was, and am, expected to look down on women even though I am a woman myself."
( Source)

This book is offensive to my gender, and it's written by a fucking woman, for god's sake. I am beyond tired of man-whore characters who disrespect and degrade all other women and then fall for the leading lady because she is an oh-so-fucking-special-snowflake. That isn't romantic. Not at all.

In Damian there are three disturbing sex scenes (need I say full of degrading and offensive thoughts and actions?) with other women and the titular character before the "love interests" even kiss. Which I would be totally fine with if not for the aforementioned disrespectful thoughts and actions. Damian is a COMPLETE scumbag. At one point he has a thought-train that he will stop seeing one of his many casual partners because she "must be getting too attached to him" for agreeing to have anal sex with him. Um, ex-fucking-cuse me?! What if she just likes it, you misogynistic fuck!! Ugh, this book infuriated me, on.every.fucking.level.

This story is a sexist fucking train-wreck, full of awful characters thinking awful thoughts.

Such a lovely hero - yum yum yum. He is the ideal book boyfriend material. You know the one - the man-wh*re one who sleeps around a lot and cheats on the heroine when he gets cold feet!!!

Don't worry - the heroine forgives him easily, which makes it clear that the heroine is also the ideal one - the sweet innocent and brainless girl that we all readers like!

That's why writers write such main characters, right? We love cheating b*stards and women that forgive them easily... Right? That's why, right?

Oh, the book ends in a cliffhanger so for readers who do not get enough of Damian in this book, the following one will give more of him...

If you still can't get enough of Damian, then there is this novella - the prequel to the series, which explains why Damian is the way he is. You think he has a good excuse? Well, here it is: Damian learns that his mother cheated on his father and also he finds out that his father wasn't truly his father. His mother didn't know who his real father was. That's why Damian decides he is not a relationship guy - so man-wh*re he is!

Here is an awesome review which sounds like much more fun than the book itself :)

Damian is an over-the-top, stereotypical, man-whore commitment-phobe. He sleeps around A LOT. One day, while taking some random floozy up to his apartment for a quickie, he meets his new neighbor, Alexis. Sparks fly, etc., etc. He finds himself unable to get her out of his mind and, cocky guy that he is, he decides that he is going to have her in his bed.

Alexis has just moved to San Francisco after catching her long-time boyfriend cheating on her. She's taken aback by Damian's good looks, but pegs him right away as the kind of bad boy that she needs to steer clear of. She's not interested in being another notch on his bedpost and he is very upfront about the fact that he isn't interested in anything else.

After a little time passes and a few chance encounters stir their interests again, they go on a date and begin a relationship. When Damian spooks, he betrays Alexis. ( No big surprise there, but I still wanted to slap the crap out of him.) End of relationship. Beginning of the moping and misery.

With very little effort, Damian wins Alexis back over. (I wanted to slap the crap out of her at this point for making it so easy.) Just as you think they're headed for their HEA, an ill-timed text message calls everything into question again and the book ends with that cliffhanger.

All in all, it was okay. Not one of my favorites and I probably won't remember the character's names a few days from now, but I've read far worse. I'm mildly curious to see what comes of the mystery text, but probably not enough to read the next book. It was alright, but not my cup of tea.

Trying to force myself to wade through some of the freebies on my kindle which is why I picked this one up.

In a word; Vomit!

I hated Damian and Alexis. They are both immature morons. No plot here. No descent dialogue. No redeeming qualities whatsoever in my opinion. "True story."

The entire "plot" -

Alexis's boyfriend of 4(?) years cheats on her causing her to pack up and leave Iowa to head for San Francisco. She's a hot mess. She wears dirty old ratty clothes with stains on them and can't figure out how to paint without literally dumping half of it on her hair...

Damian is a walking STD man-whore who owns a bar he's narcissistically named after himself. He is also a self-diagnosed commitmentaphobe.

One day as Damian is walking an f-buddy he picked up at his bar back to his room for a hot sweaty good time he runs into Alexis and for some reason beyond my understanding he is instantly drawn to her and her paint-encrusted hair and mustard-stained worn-out sweatshirt. Yuck!! Anyway, It's of course a lust at first sight kind of thing but honestly!!! She sounds disgusting!!! I can't get passed this!!!

Sorry... moving on...

Somehow or other (I forget the details because it's all just so very boring) they wind up being friends and then "friendly friends."

Damian tries to tell Alexis that he's only good as a f-buddy, but she insists he's a nice guy. Blah blah blah. They end up having sex every day for the next couple months.

Then one of Damian's employees mentions that his girlfriend called to leave him a message. Then Damian freaks out because in no way is he the type of guy to have a girlfriend!!! Especially not after what his MOTHER did!!! *sigh* Is this an attempt by the author to excuse his whore-ish ways?? Maybe provide some character background and development?? Or just an absolutely POINTLESS side "story" to try to move the story along? Ding ding ding!!!! My vote is on the latter.

Anyway, Damian starts to think back on the two months he's been EXCLUSIVELY seeing Alexis and realizes that she's the only girl he's slept with for that entire time!! Oh no!! Genius that he is calls up some random chick who gave him her number months before and is like "hey, come over and let's f@$k!!!" And she's all "Be there in 20!" I wish I was exaggerating...

So while Damian is nekkid with the part of his anatomy that apparently does all the thinking for him is deeply wedged into the random sloot's mouth (she nekkid too) Alexis takes this moment to "come home early" to surprise Damian. Only she's the one that gets the surprise! Lol. So she's angry and Damian's all "what'd I do?" She slams the door in his face and does the whole "crying while sliding down the door" scene.

A week goes by... or maybe a month... who cares... and Damian decides he misses Alexis. So he calls her and ends up making an ass of himself. Then he shows up at her door and basically does the same thing. But for whatever reason Alexis is willing to forgive him if he displays a silly goofy act of love gesture. Folks, I wish I was making this up!! Anyway, Damian is all "nahh, I'm too cool for that" and again gets a door shut in his face.

Again, some indeterminate amount of time goes by, and Damian shows up top-less at her job with a heart painted on his chest and sings a horribly off-key rendition of a Willy Nelson song. Alexis laughs, she cries, she forgets all about Damian's infidelity and all-together disgustingness and she is once again back in the safety of his arms.

Yadda yadda yadda... he is buying her dresses and shoes, all the while insisting he's not gay (I am so serious!) then tells her to get on a plane, refusing to tell her where he's taking her. Then LITERALLY blindfolds her once they land hours later so she can't see where he's taken her... only to confess on the next page that they are in Italy for his friend's wedding and she is his plus one...

Pause here for a sec and let this all sink in...

We good?

Probably not, but moving on anyway.

This asinine tale ends with Alexis going to the ladies room and Damian reading her text message from her ex-beau saying something like "did you get the results? I'm here to support you no matter what." And that's it. El fin.

Seriously. Is that supposed to be the cliffhanger that leaves me wanting to know what happens next??!?! Like "omg!! Does Alexis ever make it back from the bathroom okay?" *snort*

What a stinker!

"True story!"

4 MIXED FEELINGS stars!

I'm confused right now.  And no, my confusion has nothing to do with the cliffhanger.  I kinda of liked this novel (I mean I read it straight through without stopping...so something kept me going) but then at the same time...I've got some doubt in there. Let me explain...

So, Damian is a major playa-playa.  Before Alexis, we see him have sex with 3 different ladies.  And I'm not playing around.  During the first clip there was anal sex, during the second a threesome, and during the fourth...just sex, but it's after he's kissed Alexis for the first time...so it felt dramatic for that reason.

But after all that Damian starts to come around and chase after Alexis!! Yay! They get together and it's sweet... Then Damian, scared of commitment, .

but I guess what I really wanted was more depth to the story as a whole.  I really liked Alexis and her back story.  I even kinda liked Damian... but I needed more and I just didn't get it.  Maybe a little more depth will be reached in the sequel, HEARTBREAKER.  As for the cliffhanger...

It felt like...finally...there's my depth!!

So read at your own risk...

Damian's indeed a man-whore.

He literally sleeps with hundreds of girls, easily, if I may add, who came into his bar. They simply gave their number and bam! Damian bang them. I tried to grow fond of this character, but I can't. He simply can't stop, not even after he felt something towards Alexis.

Sure he has his own reason but really, why in the world dude? I just can't. Not to mention how easy Alexis forgive him. I want to see him suffer, at least show him that Alexis got around too. I want to see it!

But overall good book. Could be better though.

1.05 cringy, "rich blue" stars.

This book is a perfect example why I mainly stick to fantasy. Bear with me, my reviews are always scattered after just finishing a book.

I finished this in two days, mostly because once it hit the half mark, I started skimming all their useless conversations and pushed to just finish this so I could move onto something worth reading.

I think this author must have gone through a similar situation meeting a 'Damian' in her life, because I am convinced she has a deep hatred for men after reading this. Damian was so exaggerated, so over the top 'cliche man-whore', but taken to a completely different level that was so unbelievable. It was also really painful to read this and keep realizing throughout the disrespectful comments he'd say, that this was a woman who wrote this. Not even that, but a woman who wrote about another woman that seemed to not care every time Damian said something horrible to her. That, and every other woman in the novel who didn't give a shit every time he disrespected them. I'm sorry, but if a guy were ever that up front to me and disgustingly atrocious, I would laugh in their face and run for the hills - never to see their face again. Oh... but what's her face was intrigued? She saw something in him? Amidst his creepy 'let's go upstairs and fuck' comments while she showed no interest, she still found something sweet about him. Oh my GAAAAD. Send help.

I feel like once her big 'climax' (no pun intended) happened, that's when shit REALLY started going downhill. There were typos left, right and center, the entire cheating scene was SO. FREAKING. BLOODY. FACKING. FUDGING. STUUUUUUUUUUPID. Excuse my immaturity, but I literally LOL'd so hard when I read, "Oh! I don't have a girlfriend! Oh my god, ensue panic freakout moment right here for NO freaking reason and let me call some skank to come over and bang!!1!" I couldn't believe the author ACTUALLY wrote that scene. I'm going through secondhand embarrassment for her, still. Then all the half-assed apology, cringe moments of Damian 'trying' to apologize and get Alexis back had me loling too. Oh, not to mention the fact that he needed to consolidate with his best friend to realize he actually DID care about her. COME THE EFF ON, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? YOUR BFFLZ TELLS YOU THE MOST GENERIC ANSWER YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN IN A GOOGLE SEARCH AND THE LIGHT BULB FINALLY GOES OFF IN YOUR HEAD THAT IT'S NOT JUST YOUR PEE PEE THAT CARES ABOUT THIS CHICK? PLEASE. SEND. HELP.

And that ending... that... that was a joke, right? Like some sick, funny, cruel way of wanting to drag this garbage into another book?... I'd read a comment before reading this that someone freaked out about the ending and yep, lmao, there it is! Did I mention I'm embarrassed?

I also should have mentioned that this book was free on Amazon a couple days ago and that's the only reason I'm reading something like this. Now let's move onto some other things I internally sobbed about and didn't sob about (this list will be VERY short).

Things I didn't internally sob about (too much):
- The writing wasn't the worst I've ever read - she definitely has potential

Things I very much so internally sobbed about:
- To my one and only point that is considered 'somewhat good things about the book', she needs to fucking STAHP with the repetitive phrases. She probably mentioned Damian's 'rich, piercing blue eyes' nearly 84 times throughout this short novel - yet she wrote almost nothing except "full lips" for the MC... ??
- Hi, my name is Christina and I HATE when an author uses the same sentence for both of the main characters. For instance, Wood did this A LOT by ending one person's POV chapter by saying shit like "I'm addicted to him. I can't get him out of my mind." and then in the next POV chapter switched with the other character, they'd right away say shit like, "I'm addicted to her. She is my drug. Something about her makes me unable to get her out of my mind." I. CAN'T. STAND. IT. When they do that. Just rewrite the EXACT same lines for every character. That is unoriginal and doesn't seem like this person has any other deep, independent thought than the generic, fluffy, cliche shit. It's not cute, it's not a way to make them seem 'connected' - it's freaking annoying.
- I hated that we'd waste chapters seeing the exact same thing happen from both POV's. It's cheap, and in my mind, a way of cheating. You're literally copying and pasting the entire scene and just changing "his" to "her" and vice versa. Stupid. Don't ever do that. I don't need to read about a useless scene of him with a boner in a towel with a naked girl in his apartment while he lies to the girl's face in the hall. There was nothing important in the chapter that needed us to see her POV. My goodness, what a waste of time.
- Damian and his freaking obsession with saying 'hot piece of ass' and 'fucking a hot piece of ass' nearly as many times as his rich, intense blue eyes were talked about. I wanted to vomit every time he said it again and again. Too much. Wayyyyy too much. Also, vomit worthy.
- The dreaded insta-love. How did Alex begin to fall in love with someone whose conversations were all about banging and flirting? A little talk here and there yes, but that's literally it. He was a completely trash bag and yet she was falling for him in a couple weeks. What a moron.
- The writing got really, really bad at the end of the book when they finally had sex. Shit was being said like: "Wow! That was amazing." "I have a girlfriend! Damian Castilliodon'tgiveafuck has an actual girlfriend!" "Oh, yeah baby, you're amazing! You are so awesome!" The excessive exclamation marks made me want to sob some more.
- EDIT: Ah yes, I just saw I had a note in my Kindle from an lol moment.

I hadn't cried when I broke up with Chris for cheating on me. I hadn't cried when I left for Iowa--the only place I've ever known--two days ago. But as I sunk down to the ground and sat against my locked front door, I felt hot tears fall down my cheeks.

LMFAO WHAT? Your love, your boyfriend of four years CHEATED on you in front of your face, you left your hometown all alone and you never cried, BUT YOU'LL CRY JUST BECAUSE YOU LOCKED YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR APARTMENT? Damn, girl, you heartless AF if you care more about inanimate objects......................................................I'm done here.
- Do I even have to mention how degrading this was? No? You already know? Okay, good. Peace out, homies.

I'm really sorry if I'm coming off harsh, but this book was too much for me. I tend to always write the most coherent and passionate reviews about the books I don't like, lmao. Oops?

WHERE IN THE HELL DID JESSICA FIND THIS HOT SEX MACHINE
Ladies cool your panties because Damian is beyond HOT. This book my goodness(fans self) where do I start. Damian is hot the cover does not lie and he literally is like that buzz in your 3rd drink that lets you know every muscle south is about to come alive. I could not and would not stop reading this. The worst part is Damian is a jerk. You know the kind of guy your minds made up about until he breathes on you and your skin is like charged with electricity from the sensation. Yes, I am being extra but I was so into this book I can hardly write this without going on a wonderful trip down Damian lane. Oops I almost forgot to mention Alexis the minx that knocks Damian on his fine butt. She was funny and feisty just the way I like my leading lady characters. Alexis was sexy in her own way and matched Damian blow for blow. She wasn’t needy which I really liked about her. I can’t wait for book 2 because this cliffhanger left me with intense need(wink wink. Taming Damian makes me excited because Damian is a true beast (hot, sexy, drool worthy, a$$hole, a little crass) and he is going to be beyond wild in this next book. Get your riding boots ready girls for the best ride ever and shots Damian style!!!

3/2018 : 2 stars

2/2022 : 0 stars

I think I 2 starred this originally because the H kept calling his OW trysts ”fuck session” - like, every other paragraph. *rolls-eyes*

I’m guessing I was way more forgiving in the Spring of 2018. I can’t give it any stars this time around.

This isn’t worth a read. The H is such an immature ass. I can’t believe any of his emotional growth. His character was just so OTT frat boy. It’s like his maturity was stunted at 19…which is the age he was when the trauma occurred in his life.

It wasn’t any better the second read through…but we’re on a BR roll of H’s named Damian/Damien.

What can I say? The sister-in-laws make the reading rules ;)

For some reason the Rhett Series from JS Cooper is asking for a revisit since re-reading this. I think it’s a similar plot but way better, and still from that mid teens crop of books before everybody started self-publishing their hobby novel.

I may try it next…fuck the Damian marathon ;)

I love an all alpha male, but Damian? Way too cocky! At first I was like go Alex!!! Show him he can't be all that, and then she too fell under his spell :(
Then Damian effs up, and I'm like you go girl again, and then she does the unthinkable and I'm screaming EFF YOU BOTH!.

a. I liked Alex in the beginning a lot, then she became one of those...

b. Damian grew on me for a 2.5 seconds and then he too became one of those...

c. In the end, he drops the L bomb, and 3 minutes later when she gets a random text he LOVED with a "D" her, and now he hates her..

I'm confused, can you stop loving someone within a 3 minute span? If that's the case SIGN ME UP.
However I am going to buy the next one just to see about the "results", I'm curious!

Well, if I really said what I wanted to say what my views were of Damian I don't think GR's would allow me to so I'll stick with the banal! This story is overwhelming predictable.

Beautiful man has his pick of women he uses and abuses then until he meet HER but he doesn't do relationships - until he meets HER.

Damian automatically rated women from 1 - 10, surveyed them from head to toe and then when for the cliched agenda. He fu**ed them and left them. That's what he did until he met her. He rated her a 10 and invevitablility stepped in.

Extremely clichéd. Full of amazing situations, full of fu**ing and other adjectives and then then that ending?

Avoiding book 2. I'll chec out the reviews instead.

Another read that could have been a little bit better with the characters.

Damian is one player of a man-whore that I didn't like at all. Alexis is sweet and I liked her but I wished that she had really given him something to ache about. I mean seriously he crushes on Alexis and yet he still tells himself he can't commit.

I don't know the story was OKAY but I still didn't feel convinced by Damian's character. I guess I need a little more of him being genuine (yet I still see him as a player). Now the endinG....

So let's just start with the positive. It does have it's moments... Though mere moments they are.

This is quite well written, actually, which is why I finished it. And I think if the writing style would have been bad, I would have felt less ...well.. disappointed, but as it is I am just asking myself, why?

The Character building was kinda interesting. There is a clear visible attempt made to make the two MCs unique-ish. Sadly it was not quite successful. It was very promising at first and then just fell short, because it was completely overshadowed by the storyline and somehow it felt like Wood didn't dig deep enough. There is too much cliche going on here for starters, but that could have been remedied if it the characters would have had more depth, if Wood would have gone on and depend what she started...But instead she relied on the plot. It's sadly a plot driven novel.

The story line- well, the story line --- let me give you an outline:
So he is a tots manwhore- but he is the most beautiful male, just freakn perfection.Just a male dripping with gorgeousness. And with the most fabulous cocky douche lines ever to grace the world. He is so full of himself confident.
EVERY woman wants to f@$* him, literally EVERY female -oh yes they do! trust me every single one of them- and they will do whatever it takes... WHATEVER it take...
BUUUUT he doesn't do commitment... EXCEPT he has this special connection with HER
*drum roll*
queue insta-Ls....
The HER is clumsy, immune to his wooing, down to earth, girl-next-door and while super gorgeous totally unaware of it
Naturally she knows he is trouble EXCEPT she has this special connection with HIM.
Get the picture? Yeah, I guess it cute & fluffy cliche-ville. And I would probably rated this a quite a bit higher- if this would not have been just a string of cliches added up.There is a pottery wheel scene in this book as well and I was simply wondering why on earth would anyone touch that scene? It was done so big time in Ghost - that it is never going to be salvageable like ever. I also should mention, my biggest worry didn't come true, Wood didn't make it all sexy, she turned it into a fun scene, still it was a cringe worthy one as well.
There is the big drama at 75%- and I actually found myself kinda surprised with the fact that I cared. Which I decided was down to the good writing style... Then it's all happy clappy and the perfunctory cliffy. Now the happy clappy just put me off. It so beyond cliche, so grand gestures and statement, it feels fake, over the top and well, it made my eyes sore. Seriously. And I just couldn't care anymore. And then there is the cliffhanger. *snorts* Dude, can you say predictable? Want me to give you a run down of the next book? Trust me I could! But really I couldn't even give a fig!

So someone tell me: WHY?

Why just string up cliches? Why write this? Why add the pottery scene? Why use the words: "That was amazing" after and during every smut scene?
And WHY did I spend my precious reading time on this?? Why didn't I just DNF?
But mostly, why would anyone read the next book?!

Alexis sure knows how to bring Damian down a peg or two, "I -" I was again caught off guard by her. "Well s***. Way to bust my balls, Alexis." I felt a need to defend myself, and this was a feeling I wasn't used to. "First of all, I don't have a girlfriend. That blonde you saw on the stairs the other day was just some random girl I effed. Second of all, when I offered you the drink just now, I was honestly trying to be nice. You seemed really upset and you're covered in dried pain, so I figured you were in need of a drink." It's funny how Alexis got under Damian's skin, "I wanted Alexis. I wanted to eff her. Hard. I wanted her to desire me more than any woman had ever desired me before. I wanted her to be the one riding my co** like it was the rodeo." Now, Alexis may be all shy and conservative but being in Damian's clutches for a little while turns her into a little hellion, "oh! I sense someone's going to miss me." A devious smile curled on her lips as she unzipped my jeans and reached in to greet my hard erection. "I'll definitely miss this," she moaned as her fingers moved along my shaft, making it pulse with need." I mean the girl knows how to get naughty, "I'm starting to see the benefits of you going commando," she moaned as she grabbed my erection with her hand. "God, you're always rock hard and ready for me." I enjoyed reading about Damian and his manwho*ing ways.

This book was another just quick and easy read, I like books like these as they are just the right size and they keep readers interested but it doesn't require any afterthought.

The main characters are Alexis and Damian, Alexis has just moved to California from living in a small town her whole life however after she caught her boyfriend of four years cheating on her she decided to make the move. Damian is a self proclaimed man whore, he's willing to give a girl the best night of their life but no other commitment after that. When the two meet on the building Alexis is moving into staircases and Damian helps Alex with her bags their fate is set with neither of them being able to get the other out of there minds.

There aren't any secondary characters in this book, well maybe Courtney the girl who breaks them up, Emma Darian's only female friend and Alexis's two friends who come to welcome her into the big city hut they are only fleeting and I may have gotten names incorrect.

The storyline is not the most original being similar to many other books in this genre but it is well written so it doesn't particularly matter. The pacing is good although I was slightly surprised by the cliffhanger end as I assumed it was going to be a stand alone book. I will be curious to learn what happens next.

3 stars.

3.5 stars for me!!!

** I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review **

I had high expectations after meeting Damian in A Day to Remember and I knew going in that he was a man-whore but Damian just didn't do it for me. Now, I know that I will be in the minority on this one and I totally love me some hot, dominating alpha males but something just didn't click for me.

Alexis and Damian seem to compliment one another and she gives Damian a run for his money. Damian is more intrigued by Alexis as she does not swoon at his feet like all of the other ladies.

Sometimes I felt more like a mind reader than a reader. Don't get me wrong the story was engaging and it was nice to see Damian transform himself into a better man due to the love of a good woman. For me, at times the story seemed to take place more in their heads than with each other.

Now I am also NOT a fan of cliffhangers and love triangles and so I was just about ready to toss my kindle at the end. However, I showed restraint and will be waiting not so patiently for the release of Taming Damian to see where the story leads.

one thing about romance that I love is the character development between the hero and the heroine. But when you start a book and the first half of the book is about the hero sleeping with other women and not the heroine... well you lost me. I was not a fan reading about the hero with multiple other women. I really tried to like the Heroine but she came off as being needy and TSTL at best. you just saw the guy you are interested doing a body shot with some skank then shoving his tongue down her throat with her hands down his pants and you stand there watching only to kiss him moments later?? ewww no thanks.

Jessica WoodDamianWow! I am in LOVE with this book/series!! Who can resist a bad boy who finally finds real feelings for someone... And you know there will be freak outs, trials and tribulations, and most definitely realizations. As in most books the "bad boy" meets an "innocent beauty" and even though they both feel the instant attraction and pull, they must work through their issues to find true love and happiness. I was immediately hooked by the narrators tone and ease of storytelling but keeping you hooked until the last word. I also loved the way we heard both Damian's and Alexis's POV! And yet there is still a prequel and sequel available NOW and not a year or more from now!! I know that some authors feel the "cliffhanger" will keep you wanting for more and the longer they wait the bigger the buildup will be, but I love listening to them all one after the other. I think that the main characters are both lovable and relatable a lot of that comes from the narrators ability to keep you interested and really feel what the author intended. I would definitely read/listen to more of Jessica Wood's books and I will listen to any audios that Lynn Barrington narrates in the future! I am looking forward to reading/listening to the next 2 books in the series and I hope that Lynn narrates them also!! It wouldn't be right, not to mention confusing, if she didn't!

I'm not a fan of female characters who lose their shit over arrogant guys just because the guy has a pretty body. I've said before in reviews that I don't mind lust at first sight, but if it's going to be everlasting love at first sight, it had better be believable. I don't believe that fairly innocent and sweet Alexis would turn into the exact sort of purring sex kitten Damien was used to abusing (and believe me, "bad boy" doesn't have to equate to "abusive" and "reprehensible"), leaving behind everything she was and everything that attracted him to her.

The book is mostly porn without plot. Damien acts like a 12-year-old, emotionally, so it was hard for me to see what Alexis found lovable or even likeable about him. Alexis started out seeming fairly intelligent, but was quickly reduced to a bland nobody, then suddenly turned into a weird mix of porn star-level seductress and school teacher. Damien's best friend, introduced late in the book, was nothing more than a plot device that forced him to reexamine his philandering ways, and the dialog felt stilted throughout. There's a cliffhanger ending that feels like yet another bizarre plot device, unrelated to the rest of the story. There was an awful lot of time spent by the characters admitting they didn't know why they were doing what they were doing, and as a reader, I had to agree.

My rating: 3 1/2 stars

What I liked: I liked Alexis/Alex(h) and how she put Damian(H) in his place. I also liked his grand gesture when he finally got his head out of his a$$ and realized that he wanted to try to have a relationship with Alex.

What I didn’t like: His so called dad was a jacka$$ for disowning him (it’s not the boys fault). Also the way Damian handle things got on my nerves

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: H is a huge manwhore with commitment issues. He has sex with a chick after setting up a date with the h. He also calls an ex fb to come over to have sex (he does this because his co worker calls the h his girlfriend and because of his commitment issues he gets freaked out, he hadn’t been with anyone else or flirting since seeing the h for two months) and while the ow is giving him a bj (that he was just about to stop) the h walks in on them which he being a scare idiot asks the h if she wants to join. The h was cheated on by a past boyfriend. H’s mom cheated on his “dad” multiple times and found out that his “dad” isn’t his dad so he disowned him.

Final thoughts: This book was ok and I definitely will get the second one (which really should of been one book instead of two). I like books that have a guy who is at first cocky and changes for the h.

What a stupid story & waste of my time. Since when has it become the norm for the CHEATING, LYING, SLEAZEBAGGING PIG who is supposed to be kicked to the curb for being the jerkoff that he is, instead getting the heroine in the end. And what a stupid weak minded heroine. Oh, you cheated on me? Oh that's ok because you're a sweet guy. No, you don't have to do anything to be worthy of me, just keep on being a sleazebag. Really????? This is so ridiculous I barely skimmed the rest of the story. And only because I had to see how this ended. My mistake.

I love this book. I kick myself for not reading it sooner. It was 2am when I finished the book and when I got to that last line I was freaking out "OH MY GOD!!" I couldn't sleep I had to see what came next. I loved the character and the chemistry they had. I was so emotional yelling at Damian "you idiot!" "Don't do that!!" " WHY!!!!" I even had to PM Jessica Wood to vent. Great story.

Damian an Alexis... 3.5 stars!!!

I really liked the story and the characters. Would've liked some more sexiness in some of the scenes like where she teaches him how to work with clay, but that's just me.

The end was a bit cryptic, and not how I saw the book ending. But, I suppose that the author entices her readers to purchase the next book, so that is what I'm going to do!

Sorry I had a hard time finishing this one. I tried my best to find a reason to like Damian but it just never happen. I know he is a man-whore, but I hope to see some quality about him that was worth fighting for. It just never happen.
