This is the first book in the Amber Fox Mysteries series.

Amber is such a likeable character. Her life is in a bit of a mess to say the least having quite a drastic career change and let's not even talk about her love life! It's great to read of someone else's life being in more chaos than your own. It certainly makes you more grateful!

Whilst this is still very much a crime book, it is certainly a lot more light hearted than your usual detective/investigator stories. I was slightly worried as crime/psychological thrillers are my favourite genre and the darker the better for me. This however is the perfect holiday read where I could enjoy the story for what it was and not take it to seriously.

As well as Amber's investigation trying to solve the case before the police do, there is a bit of a love triangle going on in her love life also. All in all it makes for an entertaining read as Amber closes in, in solving it and I enjoyed being on the ride with her.

Fashion, Lies and Murder is perfect for readers who crave all the elements of a crime story but in a more fun and entertaining way. Definitely one to take with you when you go on your jollies this year. A fun filled and action packed read that will keep you hooked throughout.

I enjoyed this book by a Goodreads author. The main character has been compared to Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich's books. There are definite similarities--the two love interests, the slightly off-kilter family, the low maintenance pet, the occasional explosion--but Amber Fox is much more competent than Stephanie. There are lots of sub-plots going on in this book and they can be a little difficult to keep track of, but everything comes together in the end with a satisfying conclusion. This is definitely worth a read and I'm looking forward to the next title in the series, Be Careful What You Wish For.

Every single thing in this book was clichéd. Her "wit" was not clever or funny, and instead, she whipped out every overused phrase you would expect. There was even a "Not!" joke thrown in there. What is this, 1992, Borat? She got away with stupid lies, written to make her appear charming and cute when she came up with them in threatening, unoriginal situations (two stupid mob goons, anyone?) And there was all the clumsy girl behaviour you'd expect. She burned down an entire building by accident, for example.

And that doesn't even touch on the subplot re: Amber's arch nemesis, Janice Skipper. A woman, who out of nothing more than jealously, wants to ruin Amber's career and relationships. But that's what women do, right? Just try to ruin each other, criticize each other, body shame each other, backstab and gossip all because of some man?

It would be lovely if the women writing these kinds of stories could find a way to do it without those kinds of negative stereotypes about women. Empowerment or denigration.

The only good thing about this book was the mystery. It wasn't anything mind-blowing, but I did stick with the book just to figure out what the hell was going on. So that's a positive.

But hey, this just wasn't for me. I guess I'm looking for something a little different in my chick-lit mysteries.

I keep downloading freebies from the Amazon Kindle site for the app on my phone lately, which is mostly fun. I've been picking a wide variety of things which is how I came across this comedy-mystery-chick lit mash-up which was actually rather enjoyable. I know, I know: it looks terrible. But it was terrible in a good way, despite the lead Amber Fox's annoying habits of eating purely junk food and remaining thin as a rake and having two gorgeous men named Brad (!) and Romeo (!!!) fighting over her.

After Amber is kicked off the police force due to some back-stabbing by a woman who wants her boyfriend (naturally), she joins her ex-fiancee's insurance company to do some investigation for him (double naturally). She gets involved in the case of the kidnapping of Umberto Fandago, a fabulous fashion designer and has to unravel the clues with the help of Umberto's daughter Tia (a psychic), Hacker (a, uh, hacker) and her ex-fiancee-turned-boss Brad. So that's not at all awkward.

Yes, it's silly and light-hearted and ridiculous but sure, why not? It was free and it even entertained me a little - not least because I think Umberto Fandango is kind of an EXCELLENT name for a comedy fictional fashion designer. Brilliant!

This is another excellent book by Sibel Hodge. The mystery is brilliant with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the end. I loved all the characters and they played off each other really well. The book was humorous from start to finish. I recommend this book to anyone who reads the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich or to anyone who loves a good mystery with romance and humour.

Sibel Hodge is turning out to be one of my favourite authors.

The Fashion Police – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat

‘This was going to be a piece of cake. I would just sneak around, posing as an inconspicuous shopper, and snap a few pictures of Clark stacking shelves. Why had I been so worried about this job? It was ridiculously easy. I heaved through the horde of shoppers, scanned the crowd for signs of any shelf-stocking activity. There was nothing going on in the fruit and veggies aisle, so I picked up a bag of bananas and wandered off in search of Clark. The bakery section was quiet and boring, except for the yummy smell of freshly baked bread. Ditto for the condiments aisle, the dairy isle, and the cereal aisle. Maybe there was a special time of day when all the shelf-stockers were let out in a frenzy, and I’d missed it. I stood in front of the toiletries with the idea that if I stood there long enough, Clark would come to me. I could wait until closing time if need be, no problem. As it turned out, I lasted about ten minutes. I was reading the directions on a box of teeth-whitening strips when I heard a rustling sound coming from my bag of bananas. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the bananas begin to move. Wait a sec, bananas don’t move. I stared at the bag as my hands shook. Nope, the bananas weren’t moving at all. It was a ginormous tarantula inside the bag that was moving, tapping on the plastic with its hairy foot. I froze, hardly daring to breath. Omigod! Spider! In my mental world, I was screaming my head off, but in the real world, I think my mouth was just wide open with no sound coming out. I threw the bag on the floor and rocketed out to the parking lot faster than the speed of light, probably warp factor ten at least…Paul Clark and Brad would just have to wait.

Amber Fox is a former Detective Sergeant who was given the choice by Detective Chief Inspector Janice Skipper to either resign or be “resigned.” This all took place after Amber accidently shot Janice in the rear while both were on the firing range one day. Janice said it was intentional, Amber said it was an accident. Either way, Amber resigned and went to work for her former fiancé Brad who was owner of Hi-Tec Insurance. Brad hired Amber to do check out some of the insurance claims he had received by a few clients that weren’t exactly reputable. One claim was by Paul Clark who insisted that he had hurt his back and could no longer work. That’s when Amber discovered him working as a stocker at the local grocery store. Through her surveillance she also discovered that she probably wouldn’t be buying bananas from this store in the future. Added to her work load was the job of planting “bugs” hidden in pens throughout the offices of fashion designer Umberto Fandango. This job turned out to be a bummer too when it was discovered that the pens weren’t working correctly. And Amber’s decision to go back to the offices to replace the pens, she discovers that Fandango is missing and due to the amount of blood at the scene, he just might possibly be dead.

The Fashion Police is one of the funniest murder mysteries I’ve ever read. Amber isn’t a klutz but she sure finds herself in some really dangerous but funny situations. Amber finds her dad, recently retired from the police force, dressed in women’s clothes. His former drug sniffing police dog has some really strange commands. And when she runs into a couple of goons named Sally and Tracy, she inflicts problems on them that will have your laughing out loud. But I didn’t tell you the best part. Her former ex Brad and her policeman boyfriend Romeo are both in love with her and want her for themselves. Amber has decided that she actually loves both and just in case one doesn’t work out she might better hang onto both. Oh yeah, Janice has made it known that she will stop at nothing to wreak havoc on Amber’s life and see that she loses everything, especially Romeo in the process.

So, if you like a good laugh along with your murder, The Fashion Police is a book you don’t want to miss out on.

This was a decent blend of chick-lit mystery romance. I really liked the humor that I expect one would find in chick-lit fic - a genre I am not very well-read in. It made for a light, fun read. I liked the main mystery plotline, and confess to remaining completely clueless until the last moment. I wasn't so thrilled with the romance line, simply because I really do not care for love triangles, which this was setting up to be. I also did not feel any chemistry between Amber and either of the two men in the love triangle. I liked both Romeo and Brad - Romeo because he seemed like a sweet guy who does seem to care for Amber, and Brad because he seemed desperate for a second chance and honestly sorry for the circumstances which had led to his hurting Amber. I liked Amber because she was funny and seemed to be a fairly successful investigator despite her unusual methods. I enjoyed her need for donuts and her preference for unhealthy food. Not being too interested in fashion myself, I found her focus on fashion a bit shallow, particularly when she was in the middle of an investigation.

That said, on to the negatives. I will preface these by saying that it is likely that chick-lit is probably not the right genre for me (right now), and that I probably did not read this at a good time.

While I enjoyed the humor, I also disliked it in a mystery setting. With a mystery like this, I had a hard time coming to terms with the comical tone of the entire book. I guess I wanted more of action and suspense in my mysteries so while the comedic tone was not necessarily a bad thing, it wasn't to my taste at this point in time.

While the other characters were saying how Amber is one of the best investigators, my own opinion while reading exactly how Amber did her investigations really did not match up with theirs. I said that she seemed to be a fairly successful investigator, but I cannot say that she seemed to be a competent one since I did not feel as if I was "shown" this. She seemed good at toting up A + B to equal C, but when it came to searching things out herself? She did not really shine. I felt that a lot of her info was obtained through the work of someone else.

The other two side-jobs she had besides the Fandango one really were distracting. This could partially be to distract the reader from finding out the mystery before Amber, which if that was indeed the case, did a fine job. While it led to some entertaining situations, I did not like it.

The side characters, such as Tia, Hacker, The Goonie Girls, and Amber's family were just...eh. Tia came off as too young and ditzy. The whole psychic and spells thing made my eyes roll. I was like, are you serious? Same thing with Hacker and his yoga/chakra/reiki thingamajig. It seemed a little too forced to make Hacker sound atypical and funny. Amber's family also sounded too contrived to be funnily dysfunctional, and the Goonie Girls sounded like caricatures of dumb goons. While I was better able to accept this in Harry Potter's Crabbe and Goyle, I could not really accept this in this book without major eye-rolling.

There were several things that made me go, WTH? However, the one that really stuck out at me was when She's had several run-ins of that sort, and it made me wonder, why didn't she report any of these?

I think that if it weren't for the entertainment factor, this would have only rated 2 stars for me. But I did enjoy laughing at the humorous bits, and I liked Amber's voice, so it got bumped up a star. Now, if only I knew who Amber would end up with without having to go through the angst and hurt...

This book says it is for fans of Stephanie Plum / Janet Evanovich

Not really because it is the closest thing I have seen to outright plagiarism outside of the fan fiction community

This is a story about Amber Fox a young woman who was kicked off the police force in the UK (Hertford region) for shooting her superior officer in the butt on a shooting range, allegedly after clear was called.

Amber lives alone with her pet cat Marmalade
[Stephanie Plum lives alone with her pet Hamster Rex]
Amber can't cook
[Stephanie can't cook]
Amber is rough on cars destroying 2 in the course of this story

Amber has a cop boyfriend named Romeo who she can't commit to and an ex boyfriend Brad who she works for
[Stephanie has a cop boyfriend named Joe who she can't commit to and an On again off again booty call Ranger who she works for occasionally]
Brad is former special forces
[Ranger is former Special Forces]
Amber spends lots of time eating with her parents (she can't cook see above)
[Stephanie spends lots of time eating with her parents (she can't cook see above)]
Amber has a wacky father who is an ex cop and his crazy former police dog that humps everything in sight
[Stephanie has a wacky grandmother and Joe has a dog that eats everything in sight]
Amber eats lots of junk food specifically donuts and cakes yet never gets fat
[Stephanie eats lots of junk food specifically donuts and fried chicken yet never gets fat ]
Brad is a 'my body is a temple' guy who only eats healthy foods and lives in an austere residence
[Ranger is a 'my body is a temple' guy who only eats healthy foods and lives in an austere residence]

I am not even going to delve deep into the plot of the book but it is essentially Amber stumble bumbling around getting shot at with her new pal Tia [Lulu - the ho part] Until she figures it all out.

The fact that this book wasn't pulped and that there is a sequel (or 4) astonishes me.

With that being said I think I am going to get to work on my Police procedural featuring

Barry Hosch an LAPD detective who thinks 'More people count or fewer people count' and who lives with his daughter Monroe or maybe Jefferson and solves the hard crimes I mean that should be fine right??

We meet Amber Fox in the midst of a little angst in her life. Having left the police force due to a little controversy, she is now working as an insurance investigator for her ex. And her cop boyfriend, Romeo is very unthrilled about it.

Amber's got 3 cases on her plate - taking a look at fashion designer Umberto Fandango's security, watching a warehouse for a possible arson attempt, and trying to verify the stolen van claim of a known theif and law breaker.

When Fandango turns up missing, everything spins out of control. And his daughter Tia, the psychic, shows up to try and help Amber solve this case, come to resolution on her love life, and figure out why things have just gotten so complicated

The story was a little slow getting going, but once things started happening, it all came together. Kind of reminded me of the high heel mysteries, although Amber is a more down to earth, practical kind of gal.

Lots of great components, mystery, romance, thriller...who done what? Some things are a little predictable, but the real truths are not what they seem. And laughs. Just some things made me laugh out loud. Nice lite, fun read.

Give this one a shot. Well worth it!

Almost immediately, the lead character, Amber Fox, reminded me so much of author Gemma Halliday's Maddie Springer, of the High Heels series - very likeable and very normal. I couldn't help but love Amber, who knows how to appreciate baked goods!

The Fashion Police is a light whodunit slash chick lit novel, and Ms. Hodge kept me guessing til the very end about what really happened to missing fashion designer Umberto Fandango. I loved the other characters who, to me, were basically comic foils - Tia (who became Amber's sidekick of sorts), Amber's dad (who, in his retirement, became an undercover "cop" for the local neighborhood crime watch), and Sabre the dog! And lest I forget, who will Amber end up with in the next book? Her sexy ex-fiance and boss Brad, or sexy cop boyfriend Romeo? This was a good read, for sure!

Amber Fox has just been hired on as an investigator for her ex, Brad at his company Hi-Tec Insurance. Her first assignment is to a fashion designer’s Fandango Empire. The owner has disappeared and Amber along with a woman who claims to be his daughter are trying to locate him.

Amber also has other cases she’s working on at the same time and finds herself in one mess after another. Her nemesis is Detective Chief Inspector Janice Skipper who has a thing for Amber’s boyfriend, Romeo who works with Janice.

There are a couple of bumbling thugs bringing about some chuckles and other situations that bring smiles or outright laughter to the reader.

In Sibel Hodge's Fashion, Lies and Murder, the first installment in the Amber Fox humorous cozy mystery series, this debut will have you laughing in stitches and strike a pose in your TBR list. After Amber Fox was kicked off the force for a shooting range incident against her nemesis, she's forced to work for her ex-fiancé Bradley Beckett as an insurance investigator for his company, Hi-Tec. Her first assignment was to plant some cameras in the fashion offices of Umberto Fandango. But things aren't what they seem, when he later turns out missing. It's up for Amber to put the pieces together and get to down more about his life and his fashion career. When she wanted to meet his assistant Heather Brown, she turns up missing and then later dead. While she wanted to best her nemesis DSI Janice Skipper, she tries her best to be ahead of the rest to dodge some goons, get assistance from her cross-dressing father who's going undercover for the Neighborhood Watch, and connect the dots from her current cases to solve this puzzle. In the end, she learns the hidden truth about Umberto's past and fights for her life to get justice done.

Amber Fox is working as a private insurance investigator for Brad Beckett (her former fiance) after being suspended from her job as a Detective Sergeant with the police dept.

She's given an assignment to access a fashion designer's business. When the owner disappears the next day, along with his entire fashion line. Amber's instincts kick in, and she is hot on the trail of some dangerous people, who now have her in their sights.

This was a very enjoyable story that is fast paced and has well defined characters. My only issue's were a few continuity errors that should have been caught by the editors, and the lead character was too wishy washy about where she wanted to be in her personal relationships. So much so that she didn't trust herself enough to know if she did something against her morals and the person she was with after having some wine.

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a mystery this much. I love mysteries, but have discovered that I can't read cozies as the description to detail to whatever business the heroine owns drives me batty. I also think the authors talk down to their audience in those books. (I could just be reading the wrong ones though) Such is not the case here-the heroine is witty, tough, independent and spunky.

This mystery features Amber Fox who gets fired from her job as a detective for shooting her boss, the evil Janice Skipper in the ass. I mean who hasn't wanted to do that before?? She needs a job and reluctantly accepts one from her ex finance Brad who runs an insurance company, Hi Tec. She's an investigator and her first case to look into Umberto Fandango. She goes to see him and when he winds up missing, she realizes that she is one of the last people to see him. There are so many suspects and twists and turns that I was kept guessing until the end as to who was behind him. However, the Fandoango case isn't the only one Amber is working on, and the others get her in equal amount of hot water. I loved it when she went to interview someone for the company and paint fell on her hair. There were just so many over the top and lol moments that it made me fall in love with Amber.

Amber wasn't the only character that I fell in love with. There was her boyfriend Rome0, and her ex Brad. Morelli and Ranger from the Stephanie Plum books have nothing on these two! Both are smokin hot, and really care about Amber. Romeo is being chased after by the evil Janice Skipper and is awol due to being on an undercover case. He wants Amber to move in with him, but she's just not sure yet. Working for Brad stirs feelings that Amber thought weren't there any more and it scares her. It's a good thing that her mom is there to help try to work things out. Her parents were hysterical. I loved how her dad, a retired detective kept wearing crazy outfits for the neighborhood watch program. Other characters I loved were Tia, Umbertos daughter and Hacker, who does the hacking for Brad. These two were hilarious. I loved how Tia kept following Amber to see what was going on in the case about her dad as the police wouldn't tell her anything.

However much I loved the secondary characters, I loved the setting more-England. I'm a sucker for anything set in that country and this book was no exception. There is just something about British slang and well everything else that I love and can't get enough of. This is one of the best self published books I've read yet. It's also one of those books where this review doesn't do it justice.

Hmmm, I did waver between 2 and 3 stars here. I enjoyed the story but a few things were grating on me.

The book is set in the UK but her flat was referred to as an apartment and she had a can of pepper spray kind of made you feel like the author wasn't sure herself if we were in the UK or USA.

I don't expect literary greatness, infact I do prefer something light to read, but I kind of felt the style of writing was more like that of a 15 year old writing a story for their English class at school. There was also the humour, I do like to laugh but felt it was possibly a case of trying too hard in some cases - eg when a condom display fell down in the supermarket, it would have been equally as funny if a toilet roll or cans of beans display had fallen over. The condom thing along with some of the dialogue between the characters made me think it was more immature.

Finally, say what you like but it is very similar to the massive Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (which I love):

Girl with uncontrollable hair who falls into a job solving mysteries/following people around, lives by herself but is torn between 2 lovers.

Girls fridge is empty and she has a pet who she talks to - Amber has Marmalade a cat, Stephanie has Rex the hamster.

Wacky family member - Stephanie's is Grandma Mazur, Amber's is her father.

Car problems, okay so only one car of Amber's has been totalled so far, but who knows how many more she could get through (like Stephanie) further down the series.

Both share a love of donuts, cake and fried chicken.

Both end up with a sidekick.

I am sure there were other similarities but these are the ones I can remember right now.

Overall the book was okay once I got over the couple of minor niggles above. I might go on and read the 2nd one but not rushing to it.

This is classic Sibel Hodge. I put most of her books in the "chick-lit" category but they are always something more. They are always funny and have a bumbling, but loveable, female lead.

Amber Fox used to be Detective Sergeant until she accidentally shoots her boss, Janice Skipper, in the rear. She is forced to resign and takes a job as an insurance investigator with Hi-Tec, her ex-boyfriend's, Brad, insurance company. She begins investigating fashion designer, Umberto Fandango, by putting "bugs" in his pens. When Amber realizes the pens aren't working she goes back to replace the pens and stumbles into a possible maybe murder scene. There is blood everywhere and Fandango is missing. So Amber decides she is on the case wanting to beat her former boss to solve the mystery so she can prove herself to get her job back.

Along the way, Amber finds herself in some really funny situations. I mean laugh out loud while your are reading funny. This is what I like about Hodge's writing. There is just something about her writing that always has me in histerics. Some chick lit is just plain boring but not this. The only reason I gave it 4 stars in instead of 5 was that is was a little long but it is still worth the read. If you haven't read Sibel Hodge, try it....I think you might find yourself giggling as you read.

This is definitely a chick-lit book in that it's light and easy to read with a fantastical storyline that's often hard to believe. I found that the quirky prose and plot developments were, however, part of the charm making it difficult to put down.

Avoiding spoilers - the story is part comedy, part mystery/crime with a dash of romance, so there's a little for everyone. Unlike some other chick-lit that I've read previously it's also what I'd describe as PG, so if you're interested in the romance but are sick of the gratuitous 'scenes' you'll appreciate this spin.

My only grumbles would be that at times the text was a little clumsy and that the character names were at times crazy. This is though, a personal opinion that many probably won't share and if the story had been preceded with a comment along the lines of 'all names have been changed to protect the perpetrators' I would probably have let the latter slide.

Oh, and personally I like coffee creams... ;)

This is the first of the Amber Fox 'chick-lit' mystery series.

I read these out of order but as it happens each of them can be read as stand-alone stories. This is a very funny book. Amber Fox has been thrown out of the police force and is now working for her ex-fiancées insurance company. There are four cases to be sorted out, one of which involves a high profile fashion designer. All the cases end up being linked in ways you would never imagine. Amber seems to lurch from misadventure to comic misadventure, somehow maintaining dignity and sanity. She is chased by the mob and is in love with two men. Whoever said life was easy?

I found this very funny. There were some laugh out loud moments. I implore anyone reading this to have some tissues handy, you will need them after laughing so hard!

This sounded like an interesting book, and it had a great opening paragraph:
"If like is a box of chocolates then mine is the mother of all coffee creams. You know- the ones that always get left in the box because no one wants them."
I was severely dissapointed. This book was just not good enough. Lame Character names like Romeo as a boyfriend and Fettucini or Corleone for Mafia families... Cheesy. The characters and scenes were extremeley unrealistic and unbelievable. The author was striving for a comical mystery, so she dealt with death and kidnapping and blood etc. in a humorous detached way but it was just way too ridiculous to pass.
I gave it a 3 because it was a fast light read. Something to waste time on a plane or in the doctors office. Also, it's a free kindle book, what did I really expect? To find the next Jane Austen?!

Sibel Hodge. First in series
The Fashion Police
If like me you enjoyed reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, you will like this book.
Amber Fox is the main character and she is an ex police officer who now works as an insurance investigator, working for Brad who is her ex fiancé and he still thinks that they both can have some unfinished personal business to attend to.
When fashion designer Umberto Fandango goes missing along with his latest fashion designs Amber is sent in to investigate.
The story follows Amber's movements in finding out what has happened, the continuous mistakes and errors will have you laughing and screaming at the book at the same time.
This is another sure fire winner by Sibel Hodge.

I wasn't too sure about this book when I read the sypnosis but decided to give it a go and I'm glad I did. Amber Fox is an endearing, vulnerable character. The story is full of giggles, everytime I read the name Umberto Fandango was choking back the laughter. The characters were believable, some of the scrapes they got into were hysterical. Hodge has a fab way with words, reading one of her books is like having a natter with your best mate.

The thing I loved about this book is that for a busy mum like me it was a book that could be picked up at anytime, even for a quick 5 minute read and I would dive straight back into the story.

I recommend this book.

This is a light, fun mystery that reminded me of Gemma Halliday's 'Spying in High Heels' and Kate Johnson's 'I Spy?'

Amber is a disgraced-police-officer-turned-insurance-investigator, with a love life just as complicated as her career history, but she's also a believable, down-to-earth character with an unhealthy bakery addiction. Some of the supporting cast are less realistic: Amber's ex-fiance Brad is now her boss, and gets away with flagrant sexual harrassment, while Janice Skipper is an undisguised pantomime villain, and the 'Goon Girls' are just incompetent. But somehow it all comes together to make a very funny read with a suitably intriguing mystery.

Amber fox is an insurance investagator working for her exfiance. She seams real has her good points and weakness. She was let go by police departent for shooting her boss in the rear. After six months unemployed Brad her ex offers her a job. She has three cases she working on. Romeo is a cop and her boyfriend and wants her to live him.
Amber gets shot out a couple of times, gets kidnapped, jumps out a burning building, bad guys cause her to have car wreck. Lots of action and humor. Its a well rounded book. I enjoyed Amber and Brad.

Amber is an ex-cop who lost her job and takes a job with her ex-fiance. She is now working as an insurance investigator, but still gets into plenty of trouble, if not more, than she did when she was a cop. She has two men plying for her attention. Romeo, the steady beautiful boyfriend who helped her put together the pieces again after her ex-fiancé left her without a trace 2 years ago. Then there is her ex, who wants her back and is not going to give up until he gets what he wants. There is just enough intrigue to keep you highly entertained as well as romantic suspense.

This book was easy to read and for me, predictable. The characters were well presented and easy to follow. It was a credible first novel by a talented author.

Amber Fox returns to work for her ex-boyfriend as an insurance investigator. She is assigned a variety of possible fraud cases, when suddenly a major client is killed. Using her skills from her former job as a policewoman, Amber dives into the investigation.

Amber is helped and hampered by various characters and proceeds with humor to carving out a new career.

Another one of my free downloads from Amazon for my Kindle and again I was pleasantly surprised by it. I think the author has based her character on the one created by Sue Grafton, Kinsey Milhone (ABC murders), not a bad thing but there are some stark contrasts. Fast paced and easy to read but I actually figured the main plot of the story out well before it was revealed. Still it was a good read and I'd recommend anyone with this sitting on their Kindle to read it if they want something that isn't too taxing

I really loved this series. So after the last two books, I wasn't sure how I would respond to this one but I'm glad to have read it. Amber Fox is funny and quirky. Yes, at times, I did question her maturity level...she is suppose to be mid 30s or so but I just loved her. The side characters (her family, the weird friends, etc) was an extra bonus. I can see how people can compare this to the Stephanie Plum series. I jut hope she doesn't drag out the whole love triangle bit. I'm not a fan of that. I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

Think Stephanie Plum without a gun and "cleaned up". Former Detective Sgt. Amber Fox, is working as an insurance investigator for her former fiance. Throw in a current lover, bumblind mafia goons, a missing fashion designer, and that's only the beginning of the fun. This is a good mystery, with lots of twists & turns, and laughs along the way. All in all, it's a FUN READ!

Alright, I must say I really enjoy Sibel's Amber Fox series. I also must say that I really do not consider this to be classic "chick lit". I think this series can be considered similiar to Liza Lutz's Spellman series, but slightly "dirtier". With a strong female main character, slightly whacked out family and some serious sarcastic humor I simply love this series! I can't wait for the next one!
