from Publishers Weekly, 6/26/2023: "A girl with a thirst for adventure moves to a seaside town full of mysteries in this gentle, dreamlike iyashikei ("healing") manga.
A book I wanted to like, except it really takes a long time to start getting interesting, and even then I wasn't captivated. It may seem a little unfair, especially since many series have a weak first volume. However, what's here is so loosely formed that it's hard for me to recommend.
The premise is that a foreign girl visits a seemingly nondescript small town and becomes enamored with the simplicity of daily life there. There are just a few unusual plot twists, but the majority of the book is idle philosophical small talk, and there is little connective tissue between scenes, sometimes even within a conversation.
The book ends with some relatively interesting implications for future volumes, but I don't think I'll be picking those up.
