A month ago, I ended up so sick that I slept for two days straight. When I woke up, I was fired from my job, behind in my classes and there was an obscene amount of money in my bank account that I couldn’t account for.
I need to get away from my volatile father, but I’m too scared to touch the money. With my luck as soon as I’ve spent it the real owner will come looking and I’ll have no way to pay it back.
When all the usual employment avenues strike out, desperation sends me to a strip club. Not as a dancer, although I’m not sure I’d turn that down at this point, but as a bartender. And… I actually love it!
Until I’m attacked on my way home one night and dragged into a dark alley.

Try as I might, I can’t purge Mercy from my mind. It was nothing more than a mutually beneficial business arrangement that she was never going to remember. At the end, despite my beast's protests, I let her go like I was supposed to. But she’s still in my head. It’s been a month and the moon is coming full again and I still can’t stop thinking of her.
My brother convinces me to purge her memory with another female, so we end up at the Library–a strip club where I’m certain Mercy won’t be able to touch me. Except, her scent is here too.
When I let her go, she was supposed to vanish back into her world, with a fortune to keep her comfortable. Not end up employed by the very monsters who auctioned her off against her will in the first place..
When she’s attacked right outside the club, I can’t hold my beast back. Now she’s back in our arms and there is no way I’ll ever be able to let her go. Mercy is mine, and if I have to take down the entire brotherhood to keep her, so be it.

A lightning quick read for a long overdue TBR. The story follows directly from where Book 1 left. The writing style is still easy and nice to read. The Fate theme comes across well with the right feels and the smut is still hot. It might be a little to insta-kind-of-love but who can fight Fate 😁😅? There is even an enticing side plot with Jarik having to win the reign of his shadowy world to secure his mate, Sara/ Mercy.
I will be jumping straight into the final book.
P.S. this book seems to have more spelling typos than Book 1. However, that does not impede much on the writing style and is nothing that cannot be solved by a good editor.

Absolutely loved the second installment to this new Monster book. In book two, we got connection, plot, and world building. I'm hooked. I cannot wait til book three.

I'm deeply addicted to this ongoing story! This part is full of action and loads of plot enhancing details, too! Sara is in trouble ANF Jarik is forced into a position that he was avoiding. Yesenia is also a character that I'm hoping gets her own storyline one day, and Luka too! Yes, I'm staying up too late tonight to finish up the trilogy, sleep is overrated anyway, lol!

Need to read book 3 ASAP!
The anticipation of what's to come is gnawing at me! The souce is superb and the quickly built relationship is sweet and spicy in the best ways! I hope to read more romance from this monstrous world of demons, beasts, and vampires!

Discarded is the second instalment in the Monster Gentleman's Club series by @poppywritergirl. The first part ended on a cliffhanger and this one begins where the last one left off.
Our hero, Jarik, can't forget about his night with Mercy and suspects she's his fated mate but the 'rules' state he can't go looking for her and if she's working at the club she's definitely off limits. But we're pretty sure the 'rules' aren't going to stop him!
I absolutely loved this short story and can't wait to read the conclusion (hopefully Poppy won't keep us waiting too long)! The author does a great job of packing a lot of heart and emotion into a small number of pages. Despite this being less than 100 pages, and slated as an erotic romance, I feel really invested in these characters and can't wait to find out what happens in book 3. I'm also looking forward to seeing more of some of the other characters we've been introduced to in future stories.

This is the second book in this novella trilogy and I can’t get enough. Not a second is wasted — the plot moves rapidly, the characters grow, the spice spices 😏🥵🤩. This is definitely in the monster erotica category, and definitely mind your triggers, but there’s also longing, action, and suspense. Can’t wait for book 3 to release. Definitely try this one if you can handle dark romance and want something quick and oh so taboo.

In my opinion, the writing is truly beautiful. The characters evolve significantly, and the plot keeps you hooked throughout this fast-paced novella.
Every page counts in this rapidly unfolding narrative, centred around Jarik and Mercy. And oh, that ending! It's a maddening cliffhanger that left me yearning for book 3. This series just keeps getting better and better. Get ready for a captivating ride!

This story didn't need to be written - just read the first story "Defiled" and I swear you won't miss anything vital or interesting.
Too much "story" and worldbuilding and not enough spice, which is basically what the whole series is about anyway. The only good writing is with the spicy scenes because the worldbuilding is told, never shown. So much exposition is from people talking about it in dialogue without the reader being exposed to it themselves - we are just going off the word of the MMC, who of COURSE is overpowered and a natural leader, even though he describes himself as someone who "keeps his head down." What started off as a sexy monster auction concept turned into fated mates and fighting for power and introducing new shifters just to kill them off. And FMC is now reduced to a damsel in distress without having her own agency or voice.
Oh also just a random brand drop where MMC changes cars from a Bugatti to a Tesla...without really explaining why it is relevant other than just a flex that he is super rich...

A Tesla?? I thought he was supposed to have taste.
Yeesh. Seriously? Why the heck is Jarik driving a piece of crap like that when he owns a Bugatti? Look, the story is great. Fun, fast paced, doesn’t take itself too seriously (hence five stars), but I gotta say, I lost all interest in Jarik as a main when this little detail popped up. It’s why the advice to writers is to avoid any brand that doesn’t have a 100% rock solid reputation. And Tesla is the epitome of an unreliable and contentious brand. I’ve never met a man with a Tesla I’d want to date, and they’re half of what people drive where I live. Here’s hoping Jarik realizes it’s a gimmicky pos and trades it for a Porsche in the next book…

This second book in this series picks up where Mercy ends up working a new job as a bartender for a bar that is under control of the brotherhood. Jarik and his brother end up at the same club where he smells her scent. Jarik saves her from a demon and takes her back to his place. Jarik explains to Mercy what he is and the danger she is in. Now he has to save and protect her and deal with the brotherhood in his own way. This short story has lots of action and steam.

I loved book 1 and I am so glad I’m continuing the series because it just gets better and I fricking love it! This short series is becoming one of my favorites.
It’s passionate, sexy, action packed and so full of possession. It’s yummy and the betrayal is real man… I can’t wait for Jarvik to get even!

I received an arc from Poppy Aster in exchange for an honest review.
This was so much better than book 1. Book 1 was kinda daunting, horrifying etc, but this one had action in it. Their relationship has developed into a more tender thing that almost seems like love. Their sex scenes are even more steamier (and more consensual. thank god for that). I'm honestly looking forward to the final book. I'm excited to see how this one ends.

Overall, enjoyable second instalment of this novella series. There are some things that didn’t feel well thought through/were vague (and some noticeable editing errors), but I am surprisingly enjoying the novella format, making each book bite-sized.

However, the rules of the Brotherhood are clear - they forbid anyone attending the auctions to seek their prize afterwards. But, Jarik is not a male who follows orders blindly. And no one touches what is his without consequences.
The moment those two met again, sparks flew right from the start. And when I tell you their chemistry is off-the-charts, I mean it! Oh… all that passionate, kinky and absolutely delicious delight! I couldn’t get enough! Every naughty and dominant word that came out from Jarik’s mouth and every decadent and depraved thing he did were so panty melting. 🫠🫠🫠 Mercy and Jarik are just so perfect for each other. But, now that Mercy knows everything, she’s found herself in a dangerous world and war might be coming…
In addition, I really loved Yesenia - the Library’s manager, and Luka - Jarik’s brother. But Isabelle and Marcus… such slimy and entitled b*****s!
Overall, the story is another spectacular and fast-paced addition to the series and a fantastic continuation of Jarik and Mercy’s story.
