Lost and stranded during a Christmas Eve blizzard . . . not how Anna imagined starting her holiday.
Noel, a Great Pyrenees, didn’t mean to leave her flock in the middle of the night, but something seems awry and it’s her job to protect the farm. The big dog’s investigation leads her through a snow storm, right to a young mother and her infant daughter in a broken down car on a deserted country road. No threat after all. Noel starts for home. That is, until the desperate and freezing woman calls her back: this mysterious white dog may be her and her baby’s only hope for survival.
Stories in the Angel Paws and Angel Paws Holiday series celebrate the unique bond between canines and humans with heartfelt, moving, and insightful tales for anyone who has ever loved a dog.
Very sweet story about a Great Pyrenees named Noel who worked mainly as a barn dog and on one very blizzardy Chistmas Eve heard a loud sound and against her better judgement left her flock to go out and investigate and what she found was a young human mother with a young infant stranded with a broken down car. Noel did not like strange humans but the woman begged her to take her to her home. Noel knew understood a lot about infants. So she decided to help them. This is a charming, enchanting story that dog lovers will love.
Another nice short story about a dog helping a person in need. I like the way this story was told mostly from the animal POV. It's not a literary miracle and there's not much development - though enough to get a feeling for the situation and Anna's emotions and Noel's way of thinking. Most important for me was the story made me smile and I enjoyed it from beginning to the end. That was a nice break :-)
This short story telling of Noel, the Great Pyrennes dog's rescue of the stranded mother and her baby during a blizzard on Christmas Eve is the type of story I liked to read to my students when I was an elementary teacher.
This was a wonderful quick book that I loved. I was so afraid the dog was going to leave the lady who was stranded in the snow but glad she helped the lady with the new baby. The dog ones she needed help but this breed of dog is extremely smart anyway. Loved it.
Great short story. I love how Noel is such a heroic dog. Guiding mother and child to safety and then bringing help to them when they couldn't make it any further. I would recommend this book to any reader who loves animals and their stories.
Miracles still happen, especially on Christmas, by a dog named Noel. Such a good story. No bad language, compromising situations. Just a good, clean book you can recommend with confidence. I love this author.
I love a good dog story and Noel, an all business Great Pyrenees guardian fits that model. Noel was born on Christmas day and is the last of a line of long time family dogs who've served the farm. Her instincts care for the animals and people on the farm, plus she accomplishes a moving rescue on Christmas Eve in the midst of an enormous blizzard. I sort of expected a little more 'connection' between the characters, but then this was a story about Noel and her sense of responsibility for anyone and anything in need. I love the way Noel thinks..she has a sort of dry humor in her.
This story will intrigue kids, but it doesn't talk down to them. If you have a Great Pyrenees at your house or if you have known one of these sweet, serious dogs, you will enjoy Noel and relate to the heroic, sensitive qualities that you know in your friend.
Having grown up with a Pyr, of course I loved this charming little story!
I was, however, surprised that the author made Noel so standoffish. All the Pyrs I've known have been love bugs and, much like Noel, fiercely dedicated to their flock.
The part where Noel was doing her "patrol" was dead on. Our Pyr did his rounds in much the same fashion.
Author has a way of making you feel you are in the story. I love animal stories and this one is well worth reading. It was a good one for the Christmas season. Presents come in all kinds of ways and this one is no exception. Noel is a winner. I will save it to read again next year.
This was a great short story! i love pretty much every story i have read in this series so far! This was extra wonderful because no one got hurt, it was told from Noel's point of view and it was just a great little story!
