Ebony Raines despised being abducted by aliens - especially when those aliens turned out to be men just like those on Earth, except for being even more domineering and even more insufferable and even more driven to spend their lives screwing their brains out (and those of every female they could find.)
When she was chosen to be in the cruel king’s harem, she thought her life would be over as she was initiated into the life of a sex slave... until the day she stumbles across two freedom fighters - one who is the exiled twin brother of the evil king.
When they kidnap Ebony and her harem sisters for their own purposes, they get more than they bargained for from the troublemaking Ebony - and perhaps just the ally they need to truly change their world.
Jaide Fox has always had a passion for fantasy and the paranormal, having discovered both at a young age and devouring every book she could get her hands on, watching every movie that even hinted at her interests. It wasn't until she was in high school that her mother introduced her to romance--and she was hopelessly hooked.
Eroticism has never really been a part of fantasy, nor romance, and Jaide craved to see the two combined. Not able to find anything on the current market, she decided she'd write her own books to satisfy herself.
Jaide hopes readers will enjoy her first offering from NCP. She has many more novels planned and is currently breathing life into other adventures.
She lives in the middle of nowhere in a swamp, surrounded by all sorts of wild creatures (including snakes and spiders--which she gets rid of on sight!) and one mottled black cat who ambushes her from time to time.
....did I just read. This was horrible! It was disjointed and a complete mess. From the different spelling of the main city's name ... to the sex scene with the h/HH- ridiculous. Please skip (like I did the 30% at the end) this mess!!!!
Well I will admit that I was wrong about this second book. It was actually a lot better than book one, mostly because there was a lot going on. It had mystery and action, it didn't just revolve around sex, though those scenes were super hot, there was much more happening.
Three stars because while I did enjoy this book more than the last one, Ebony's behavior left much to be desired. It was frustrating how for most of the book she was trying to escape from Fallon just to go back to the palace where she was sexually assaulted daily by the King. I mean what female would want that? That bitch was crazy! The other women welcomed their new place with Fallon's men but Ebony fought and argued. I understand she wanted to be with her sister but I would rather be with someone who hasn't hurt me after days of being together than be at the mercy of a man who enjoiys hurting women minutes after being together. I'm sure my sister would understand. It took more than half of the book to get her cooperation but by then I just didn't like her combative nature.
Overall I did enjoy the read and look forward to reading book three, hopefully its just as good or better than book two.
FYI: THIS BOOK GOES BY THE TITLE 'ALIEN INSURGENCE' IN THE BUNDLED BOX
Ebony Raines, her sister Adrienne and a group of earth females are abducted by males from an alien planet without females. Ebony was not lucky enough to find love like her sister and is forced into King Kore Anadaru’s harem, her only comfort the fact she is close to her sister and unborn niece or nephew.
Ebony along with a few other women from the harem are kidnapped from the King by his twin brother Fallon, the true ruler of Chalcydon. Ebony expected another prison instead she is surprised to discover her true reason for being kidnapped. She falls for her captor and his second Damon. Unlike King Kore, Fallon and Damon want her heart, they truly desire the chance to love and care for her.
This is book two in the series and it is not a biggie, you can really read this as standalone, you just will not read about the actual kidnapping or how they were processed to the planet so to speak, although you do get the back-story. This story was pretty decent, I liked where the author tried to take it and her voice. Ebony was a realistic character, I mean yes she was forced for a long time to be with someone she did not like but she did what she had to do, me personally I do not like stuff like that in my reads or at least not for prolonged periods but I am assuming she was using it to reflect the characters strength especially in contrast to her sister and the other earth women, but if you did not read book one it just felt like, why, why include it.
The women all get their happy ending thank ____ (fill in what you like).
Straight to the swagger: Ebony, Fallon and Damon meet, they traipse through the woods, he takes her to his hideout where he and his men have created their own little community. The women become a part of their community but I swear most of the time was spent by Ebony asking question about everything.
Well I will start off by saying book 2 is better than book 1. That being said, some of the same shortcomings of book 1 are shown here in book 2. The most annoying of which is the author’s tendency to have characters repeat either words or full sentences in the same paragraph or speech. It wasn’t too distracting in the first book, but it’s out of control in this book. A prime example:
“'One hour after darkness,’ he said, with a chuckle. ‘The first flights will leave one hour after darkness tonight. Everyone go back to your rooms and pack up only what fits in two duffel bags – bags that you can carry on your own. There is no space for anything else. Go, now. We leave an hour after darkness tonight!’” Ugh.
I liked Ebony in some ways, but she also drove me up the bloody wall. Now I’m probably more curious than the average bear, but this woman absolutely would not shut up with her bloody questions. There was at least twice where someone said “we need to talk”, and she would literally sit down and say “okay, I have some more questions.” She would then proceed to ask however many questions instead of listening to whatever the other person had to say. I don’t know how many times I thought to myself – will she ever shut up?!?!
The story itself was decent overall, and there was enough action to satisfy (sometimes too much for my tastes). The ending was almost too sweet and it felt like the end of the series, although I think there is one more story.
Ok this book is 2.5-3 stars it wasn't terrible but wasn't amazing either it lost points because it was preventative and long winded but got points for action but i liked gallon I also liked Damon separately I didn't really feel there love triangle tho and did go on with repeating them selfs In the same sentence meaning the same. So I couldn't give it 2.5 stars as was better than book 1 and want unlikable but I couldnt give it a full 3 stars as it had issues so it's between the two x
I actually like this book better than the first book. There was more fantasy and suspense along with a healthy dose of steamy action and romance. I like that it is a stand alone book with a HEA and an epilogue. No cliffhangers; I will definitely purchase the next book in the series.
Aliens abducting women for reproduction is a well used plot, but Msg Fox has given it a refreshing update. You will truly enjoy the characters here and the plot twists that carry this story along.
The story progresses rather quickly. Ebony ends up with the rebel leader who has very close ties to the king. Found the story rather quick and shallow.
I couldn't settle on what emotion was strongest in me for this book. There was a war between disgust, offense and irritation. I struggled to make it to the end, my curiosity wouldn't let me give up. The rape fantasy is not for me, the first book took a softer (?) approach so I figured I'd see what book 2 had to offer. Um. No thank you. The offense..... Some authors can build characters of different ethnicities and pretty much nail it. Maybe they are better with their research or have true, meaningful relationships with people to draw from real life experience. I felt like Ebony and Adrien were developed from a perspective and many of their actions and reactions were kind of irritating.
