When Matthew Danza is not staring at a computer screen from his IT career, he is staring at a computer screen, writing the night away. His first book: The Fin, is the first book out of seven in the series. While growing up, Danza was always inspired by horror movies, books, and games. He draws inspiration from the film and novel, Jaws; which was his initial inspiration for the series, along with other culturally popular monsters. Whenever he is scuba diving he is always looking for sharks and trying not to get hit by the occasional boat! A relaxing night for him usually consists of playing a horror video game or reading a book that his editor recommends to him. When he is writing, he consistently pulls inspiration and new ideas from all of the things that he enjoys doing and reading. There are constantly notes being sprawled across any and every piece of material that can be written on! Danza is set to write a total of seven books total in the Fin series and a second series called Always Yell Fire in which four total books will be written. The fun won’t stop there, however, and there will be plenty more works to read in the future!

I loved the book Jaws and the movie, I actually read Jaws 2 and 3 as well so I was excited about this book. I grew up with my dad having cabin cruisers but thankfully on the great lakes where there are no sharks. I just couldn't get a clear picture in my head of the boat accident. How were they able to go in the cabin below where it was flooded and have the shark attack? It seems like the hull would have to be totally gone, yet they went down to retrieve items. Then when they were finally heading for the beach and they kept coming across sand bars but then the shark was able to get past these low points to reach them? I thought there were coral reefs on both sides of the middle path to the island so how did it get past the reefs and the low points of the sand bars? Then you don't even get a decent ending because it's to be continued. I've read lots of books that are series but they still have decent endings for each book. Disappointing.

I love horror suspense and thrillers where anything can (and will) happen and I also really love stories that revolve around the ocean or bodies of water. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into with this but sometimes it’s fun to go in blind, and it did not disappoint. Instantly, I was transported into a world of gripping tension and heartfelt emotion.
