On assignment to prove leprechauns aren't real for his cable television show, I Don't Believe It!, Cassie's dad takes the Strange family to the Golden Shamrock Resort, which is supposed to be riddled with leprechaun trickery. Hoping to be the envy of her friends by staying at a luxurious spa, Cassie is sorely disappointed to discover her "posh" accommodations include a barn and a catfish-infested pool. Determined to have fun, she and her brother Lucas make friends with another guest named Hank. Before long, Cassie discovers that Hank is actually a prank-loving magical being. He draws her into a game that traps her and Lucas in his secret underground world. Hank wants them to be his friends forever and the longer they stay in the underground paradise, the quicker their own world fades from memory. Will they be trapped forever? Or can Cassie and Lucas help Hank make friends in his own world so they can return to theirs?
I started writing at 8 years old and when I speak to kids at schools or libraries I show them the stories I wrote as a child. I loved mystery series like Judy Bolton and Nancy Drew, and my DREAM was to write a series of my own. This happened when My Sister the Ghost was published by Avon books in 1994.
Since then I’ve been fortunate to write other series like The Seer, Dead Girl trilogy, Strange Encounters, Regeneration and Curious Cat Spy Club. I recently added a mini mystery to the Curious Cat Spy Club series titled Dog Rescue Time Warp which has a surprise ending.
I love hearing from fans and always write back. And I’ll send a spy activity packet to anyone that asks. Email link at www.LindaJoySingleton.com
I think this is a really cute fantasy story that people of all ages would enjoy. I loved the idea of the story and it was well written. I really enjoyed the characters and Jennifer seemed adorable. I would take Jennifer home also! I didn't read book 1 but I think maybe I will so I can understand the previous strange encounter. Overall, a very fun read.
Really enjoyed reading this book aloud to my class last Spring. Fantasy is a great way to get children to picture the text. I had them draw the different scenes in the story as I read it aloud. Enjoyed the series since it has the element of the real world and fantasy world crossing over.
In the second of the Strange Encounters series, Cassie Strange once again finds herself in situations she can't tell anyone about -- and especially not her father, who's bound and determined to debunk the myths of leprechauns. But what can she do when she's tricked by a leprechaun? She finds a way to break the spell and get back to her family, but can't say anything!
