Offers insights into the challenges faced by active duty service members deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, the resiliency they and their families have shown in coping with these challenges and the adequacy of defense manpower policy in assisting members and families.
Dr. James R. Hosek is an economist whose research focuses on military recruiting, retention, compensation, deployment, personnel quality, and family well-being. Currently, he is an adjunct economist at RAND and a Professor at the RAND School of Public Policy.
Hosek was editor-in-chief of The RAND Journal of Economics from 1989–2018. Hosek received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
